I hope I can say it works better or as well, too. That would be awesome!

Awesome!

I'm up two & half pounds after my second UD and trying not to freak out. I'm hoping it was just the salty pizza I had for supper. I'm glad today is a down day. Today's weigh-in has definately made me nervous to do 3 up days in a row.

Today I weighed in at 136.5! Another new low for me. I'm shocked and thrilled. I'm so curious to see if this continues.

You guys are doing great!! How many of you had stopped losing from JUDDD? Or, were you just looking for something new? Were you losing faster w/ JUDDD or 5:2? Curious! I'm just starting out w/ JUDDD but would prefer 5:2 especially if if works as well, or better than JUDDD! Keep posting! Thanks!

And I'll third your motto pleasekeepworking!
I was still losing with JUDDD, but now that I'm so close to goal I'm interested in 5:2 for maintenance

Well this week has not gone like I planned! After my huge calorie feast on Friday I decided to pause my 5:2 experiment for a few days and do normal JUDDD rotations, plus I threw in a couple potato hack days for good measure Good news is I'm back at last Friday low of 142.5lbs yay! I was planning on having a second UD today and get back into the 5:2 rhythm, but I woke up not feeling so great, so I think today is going to be a fasting day with lots of soup/broth. After I'm feeling better I'll get back on 5:2!

Today is my 2nd DD for the week. I think I might weigh tomorrow just to see even though my "official" weigh in is usually on Saturday. Even just a 1 lb loss would be better than nothing considering the way I've been eating lately.

The only thing that makes me nervous about this plan (or even JUDDD) is that the night before a DD I feel like I need to eat more than usual so I'm not completely starving the next morning (I don't eat until noon or 1:00 on a DD). For example, last night I had dinner around 6. I was a little hungry around 8. Normally I could just deal with it but because I knew I wouldn't be eating until later today I ate something. I feel like I have to "fuel up" the night before and I don't necessarily think that's the right way I should be eating either.

I guess I just have to wait until tomorrow to see what the scale says.

Dawn it appears to be working for you! What's better than being down in weight after two UDs?

I'm sold! I'll be starting 5:2 myself tomorrow on the 1st of Feb.

I am away from my friendly scale until Wednesday.

I am enjoying my DD after a curry and too much wine last night. I was staying with a friend so no weigh in this morning.

As Dawn says, nerve wracking it is!

I want to see the two of you calm, as in "you have this".
Relax and enjoy.

I am calm with the 16 hour daily fast working well and hope to slide over to 5:2 when the next 10 lbs slip out the door.

Well, my DD today got derailed. I went out for lunch with my SO because he had to bring me to my car after it had an oil change. I did NOT eat low cal. I guess the good thing is that I can do a DD tomorrow instead, but we usually go out to eat on Friday nights so it might be hard. It might be the 6:1 plan this week.

After my 500 cal DD yesterday I'm back to my 5:2 starting weight of 137.0
(.5lbs above my 5:2 low) I'm not sure I'm going to do 3 UD's in a row. I'm scared. I think if I could manage really low DD's then maybe I could do 3 UD's but I never seem to be able to pull that off.

That's great Kissa!

I'm starting 5:2 today with a 500 cal. day. I will no longer refer to days of the week as DD & UD, because it tends to mess with my head and leads me to make unhealthier food choices and binging (like eating 1/2 a box of chocolate Fiber One in one day).
I plan to base all my meals on the South Beach allowed foods.

I'll be reading Dr. Michael Mosley's book after it is released in the U.S. at the end of this month. Although I'm pretty sure it's based on the BBC Horizon special "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" that was aired in August, which I already watched when I first started JUDDD.

Best Wishes on your continued progress & peace!

Yes it is but there is quite a lot more there, especially about GI and GL type foods.

It's okay, but we know most of it already, lol.

162.2 this morning, but that may be an exaggerated loss as I'm sick. I couldn't eat dinner last night, so my DD was only 210 calories. I'm heading into either 3 or 4 UDs in a row and it's a little scary. I want my DDs to be Tuesday and Friday, but that didn't work this week, so I've been doing 2 UDs and 1 DD as a rotation since I started. We'll see how the coming week pans out.

I also have not made it to the gym at all this week.

I want to get back on 5:2, but I'm too scared to do 3 normal days in a row, especially since I'm so close to goal now I know I need to just jump in and see what happens....

That's why I'm done with the UD & DD concept. I'm in the process of attempting to figure out what defines a "normal day" for me now prior to reaching my goal weight, so that I have a better chance of maintaining it for the long term. I've had enough experience with my weight yo- yo'ing up and down with 20-30 lbs. over the last 35+ yrs. I don't want to continue that physical and emotional roller coaster ride anymore.

Good Luck!
Ann

Get well soon Dawn. Though that was a very pretty number!

C'mon Sara, jump on in, this is your thread! I am doing fine so far. Any gains can soon be lost with a good DD. And no one says we can't add the odd one. But I am amazed that 3 UDs didn't derail me.

Something interested I noticed in my JUDDD journey: In the very beginning, if I dare tried even just two consecutive UP days, the scale would bounce up four to five pounds. However, as I stayed on rotation and got closer to goal, the bounces got smaller and smaller. Now, after three or four consecutive UP days it usually goes up only half a pound or one pound which comes right off the following down day. So in my personal experience, I think starting out with more regular JUDDD rotations resets the metabolism to start working more efficiently--now I don't have any wild bounces and the 5:2 plan is working beautifully. Just my own observation.

Well this morning I woke up and chickened out of my plan of doing three normal days in a row, like 5:2 does At 4pm I had eaten 300 calories and was winding down for the day, but then my dh talked me into going to Steak n Shake, so it quickly became a normal day Since my Sundays have to be normal days (we always eat a big steak lunch at my in-laws), and yesterday was a normal day-I'll be seeing what 5:2 truly looks like for me
