Melanie just remember everybody's body type is different, you're going to have to find what works for you and stick with it. If you keep a food log, go through it periodically especially during those weeks when you lose/gain weight. Sometimes that can give you a clue. Like you said, if you do weigh in tomorrow and it's a gain it can well be water weight. Stay encouraged!

We won't find out the winner of the challenge till next week, but I know there were women who lost more than I did. No worries....I'm quite happy with my progress!
EXCELLENT PROGRESS!

Well I've weighed in and done my measurements.... Not too exciting to say the least...

Weigh in was 189.4. My measurements showed only a total of .75 inches lost in a little more than a month. I also checked for ketosis and got a faint positive.

I feel like this is telling me that I gained enough muscle to replace the little bit of fat I may have lost in the past month. I do feel like I've gained some muscle, but obviously I need to speed up the fat loss.

Things I'm going to try to do a little differently are... Cut out alot of the cheese I eat, limit myself just to shredded on eggs, salad, veggies. Avoid peanut butter altogether. Only allow myself one sm. handful of almonds a day. Eat mostly meat, eggs and veggies. Increase water intake, I've been a bit lax with that lately. Continue exercising as usual. Also as soon as I can get my hands on some virgin coconut oil, I will switch that out for the splenda in my coffee as well.

Planning on weighing in again at least by Sunday. Not sure if I want to stay with once a week weigh ins or go to twice weekly or back to daily??

You're doing great Melanie! Go easy on yourself!

The start of another week. Happy to report that I got thru the weekend without gaining! Still at 199 and hoping to see a drop this week.

Boot camp was brutal as usual. I'm shooting for 4 days this week.

Have a great week!

Hi guys, just poking in to say I finally met my first mini goal! I'm now officially a size 12 originally I was size 14/16. I also stepped on the scale and I'm down again. Last week it was 172.2 today 171.6. Not much but something is always better than nothing.

Just continue to hang in there and it will work!

Did everyone have a good start to their Fast 5 week? I'm really having no problem so far, though I know there will be a few days coming up where I'll have to have a larger window. A weekend away in April and a week away on a business trip in May. I'm not going to stress about it. Fast 5 will be here for me when I return!

I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow and see how things are going. Not optimistic that the scale will be down because I've been thru 2 killer workouts at boot camp so far this week and my muscles are screaming. That translates into water weight showing up on the scale as my muscles try to recover.

Not sure what I'll break my fast with today. So far nothing really sounds that great. I'm sure in 4 hours I'll come up with something!

Have a good week!

Hey Lori! I'm starving, but have just 3 more hours to go...

Yesterday went well! Opened my window at 4:00. I tried the coffee with coconut oil and it was yucky, too bitter for me! Coconut oil was yummy, but I like super creamy coffee that's got some sort of sweetener in it! So, I had the coffee, small handful almonds, and some zucchini that I had sauteed with bacon and onions. After my workout, I had a lettuce wrapped cheeseburger and a small protein shake. Window probably closed at 7:40.
I can tell I'm more hungry today, was hungry at 7:30 this morning, it went away and now I'm super hungry! Got some errands to run though after work so will probably have to open my window a little late...

Oh yeah, scale was nicer this morning and said 188.0!

Oh man.....ate WAY too much for dinner. Wasn't even hungry...just ate because I could.

I'm looking forward to my 19 hour fast!

Melanie - it's great the scale was nice to you today, let's hope it stays that way for the remaining of the week.

Lori - I think we all have that problem overeating at times. I use to do it because I was afraid I would be hungry after my EW closed. I haven't done it for a while so I guess that means my body is slowly beginning to adapt.

Have a great day!

Back on track today and WILL eat like a normal person once my window opens! I'll have a Greek yogurt and a few nuts at 2 and then eat dinner with the hubby.

Had a great boxing workout this morning at boot camp, so I scorched some of those calories from yesterday!

Yesterday went well! I opened window at 4:20 with my usual 100 calorie bag of almonds, a protein shake, coconut oil, little bit of leftover hardboiled egg and mayo salad and a little cucumber with ranch. After workout I had some pan fried bistec (like a beef breakfast steak, real thin slices) and some scrambled eggs with shredded cheddar cheese on top. Window closed at about 7:40.

Scale this am was all over the place from 186.2-187.0, I got 187.0 the most, so that's what I'm going with!

Scale said 186.0 this morning! Have a feeling I'm not going lower for a while though.. I'm thinking I'll float around in the 186-187's for a while.. Opened window yesterday at 4:00 with my usual almonds. I switched things up with my protein shake and did it hot instead. I used my protein powder, almond milk, coconut oil and instant coffee. It was yummy, so think I'm going to stick with that!
I didn't have much energy in my workout, but that's not very unexpected since it was my 3rd day straight with Kathy Long, who's classes are just rediculously hard and fast paced..
Ate dinner which was pork chops and salad. Window closed right at 9:00, so a little on the later side for me.

How is everyone doing?

Yesterday was great! Opened window as usualy with almonds, "hot" protein shake, andsome broccoli with ranch. Went and did a boot camp workout. I had very low energy during the workout the day before, so I was thinking I was just going to be worse yesterday, but all in all, I had a good workout! Afterwards I had big salad with ground turkey on it, so kinda a taco salad without the taco... Closed window at 7:40. Scale said 186.6 in the am.

Another great week for you Melanie!

I'm still stuck on 199, but I'm ok with that. I've really been eating the wrong types of food during my open window, so I can't expect much loss.

I'll be totally off plan today, as I have a brunch to attend this morning, then playing a round of golf, then have a dinner to go to tonight! Busy day! At least I'll be getting lots of exercise walking the golf course!

I'm gearing up for a good week next week. I'm going to be combining Fast 5 with 5:2....actually, I'm going to do 4:3. Mon, Wed & Fri, I'll be keeping my calories to around 500. The other days I'll just try to eat "normally".

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

I so want to hear about this! Love tweaking stuff around!

Not so hot day yesterday.. Opened window at about 4:30 with my almonds, hot protein shake thing, I made a low carb tortilla with bacon, egg and cheese wrap thing. Brought my son to soccer practice, where I ended up eating almost half an organic orange, I had a hard time from there on out, so I'm sure it was the "sweetness" triggering something.... Got home and all I could think about was food and I wasn't even really hungry! I had another lc tortilla with lunch meat, sliced cheese and mayo, had some brocolli and ranch, 2 cheese sticks, couple more slices of lunch meat, some store brand peanut butter , the last kiwi in my fridge, a pinch of trail mix and a bite off the end of a grilled hot dog (just the dog, no bun)... Pretty sure that was it, already makes me feel better now that I've written it all down. It was a hard struggle to not keep eating but somehow I managed to close that window at 9:00, so did stick to the 5 hrs.

I'm sure my sodium was pretty high yesterday, which gave me a weigh in of 188.4 this morning, I guess I'm glad it's not worse. My plan for today is to just have 1 meal, so a 1 hour window and drink lots of water to start flushing out that salt. No workout scheduled today, so shouldn't be a problem!

but really, an orange?! less than half of one at that!

We all have days like that Melanie. No worries!

I'm finally home after my busy day. Ate with abandon most of the day...blech! Ready to get on my "new" plan come Monday morning. I logged 14,000+ steps on my Fitbit today with walking the golf course. I have Plantar Fascitis and my foot was killing me when I got home from golf. I iced it and am stretching it now. I'm supposed to walk the golf course again tomorrow....hope the foot holds up!

Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Hi guys, it's nice to see you're still hanging strong. It's been a busy week for me and it'll probably be like that for a few more weeks - I have lots of studying to get out of the way. Just wanted to check in to say I'm still hanging in there and F5 is still working for me. Because I'm now getting exercises in I decided I would hold off weighing myself every week and perhaps do it every two weeks or perhaps once month.

Lori - I hope F5 with 5:2 works in your favor and you get some positive results. Please do keep us posted.

Last 2 days have been good. Had about a 1 hour window both days. Yesterday went to a Mexican restaurant and had carnitas! They had onions on top, I skipped the beans and rice and had them give me all lettuce with some sour cream. I also had a little cheese dip and part of my son's hamburger patty. When I got home I had some coffee with HWC. Scale this morning said 189.2.

I'm thinking about counting my calories for a while... probably aiming for 1200-1400. What do you all think?

You could try it Melanie and see how it goes. With all your activity, that may not be quite enough. I'm sure the scale is up with water weight this morning due to the Mexican food(yummy).

I'm combining Fast 5 with 5:2 this week and see how it goes. I'm actually doing 4:3 instead of 5:2 since I have so much to lose.

We'll get this figured out! We just have to be patient!

I hear you Melanie. I've been faffing about with the same couple pounds since the beginning of March! I'm going to give it a good go this week and weigh myself again on Saturday morning. Hoping to see a new number!

Well, my window came crashing open at 9AM. I've been awake since 2:30AM and had a brutal boot camp session at 5:45AM. I was feeling SO low & tired that I just had to try eating something to see if that would help. A greek yogurt with nuts added. Some days you just have to eat, you know?

Hello Ladies!
Mind if I join you??
A little bit about me-Last year I lost 30lbs on JUDDD and then in the fall of last year, life happened and I totally went off plan and gained most of it back. I've tried numerous times to restart and just cannot bring myself to get back into the routine of doing the up days/down days. Plus when weekends come and I'm all over the place!! Stumbled on this WOE through a different forum last week and decided to give it a try. I started at 242.8 on 4/2 and this morning's weigh in was 236.6!! AFTER THE WEEKEND! I realize its mostly water weight-but I'll take any minuses off the scale!!
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Anna

Great loss Anna!!

I think this WOE is much more weekend friendly! We may lose a bit slower, but perhaps we'll keep our sanity?

Keep up the good work!

Lori-
This was my attitude last weekend.. Hubby wanted to go out for Sunday breakfast. So we did. I figured that if I can do Fast-5 for 6 days a week. One day hopefully wouldn't mess with it too bad. Unlike JUDDD on weekends to where I had to do 500 calories on one day or the other(or else it was a major scale upset and took me all week to get back to where I was)! I was able to keep the calories in check on Sunday too -even though it wasn't in my normal 5 hour window. Do you count calories? I haven't yet, but will if I stall out.

I count on my 500 calorie days, but not on my "normal" days. I do try to be aware of what I'm eating and have a ballpark figure in my mind of where I am calorie wise. I don't want to be a slave to counting calories.......that's the whole point! Some people enjoy counting every calorie...not me. I get to the point where I resent having to do it and then chuck the whole thing!
