New low today everyone! 215.5 lbs! I am sooooo happy. It has been a solid 5 1/2 years since I've been at this weight. All with no effort and eating and as happy as a clam. This does work and is for life! Yes, it is super slow and the small ups/downs can be frustrating but I have been at this now for 24 weeks and see the overall downward trend. Hang in there every one!

Two combos that have helped me with CAD: fasting and eating one rm a day, eating high fat!

Thanks everyone! I am enjoying just being able to eat, taking each day as it is and not being hungry nor having cravings. Have I mentioned how much I love this WOE? LOL

Hi all! I've been around several threads for a while and I would really like to make IF (in some form) my WOE for life. Right now I am keeping a 5 hr. window for eating (3:00-8:00) some days. The one thing I can't seem to give up yet though is HNH in my morning coffee. It's roughly 100 cals. worth. Do you think completely negates my fast?
I would really love to go the Eat Stop Eat route but working my way there. Thanks for your help! You gals are doing great!

Good morning! I am tired and headachy this morning. I hope that my Advil will kick in soon!

I had a good window yesterday...opened a little early but was done with dinner by 5:30. We had salmon and rice for dinner, plus I found this delicious black raspberry gelato at Target for desert. YUM. So nice being able to have a wonderful dessert and not beat myself up over it!

I bought a cute skirt last fall...it's a size large. When I bought it, it was on the verge of being too small, but it was so cute that I bought it anyway. Today, I pulled it on, and it's on the verge of being too big. I can still wear it, but I can feel the difference in the waistband. The scale isn't my friend, but my clothes are!

J., I've read that many IF'ers do heavy cream or coconut oil in their morning coffee and have no problems with it. If it makes it easier for you to stay on plan for the long-term, that's the most important thing (in my opinion.) I've decided that losing/maintaining weight for me really needs to be about long-term consistency, so I need ti keep it simple and not add any "rules" that I know I won't want to follow.

Good for you on the skirt Rachel! I had the opposite experience last night. I'm getting out my golf clothes for the season and I have several pair of shorts that I've never worn....always been too small. Anyway, since I've lost over 20 lbs, I thought surely they would fit......not so much. Guess the last time I tried them on I was about this size. Oh well......gives me something to work toward. I'm hoping before the season is over, I'll be able to wear them!

I have either MCT oil or coconut oil in my morning coffee. Not sure if it negatively effects my losses or not. It's early days for me, so I'm still waiting to see much drop on the scale from this WOE.

That is great! Sometimes all the other things like lose clothers, lose rings, face looks better and less puffy, etc show us the changes and not the scale.

Way to go MIW!!! You are doing SO well!!

I was totally off plan yesterday and today will be much the same. I walked 18 holes of golf yesterday and will do the same today if my Plantar Fasciitis will allow it. I could hardly walk when I got home yesterday! I try to keep trudging along.

We had our final "celebration" at the boot camp Transformation Challenge last night. I ended up coming in 4th with a loss of 25 lbs and 14.25 inches. The winner lost an amazing 34 lbs!! All that in 12 weeks!

I'm getting back on plan Monday morning. I'm doing a combo of Fast 5 and 5:2. Actually, I'm going to do 4:3 since I have a lot of weight to lose.

Let's do this!!

Thanks and sounds like you are doing fabulous as well! Keep it up. What is 5:2 4:3? Is that how many meals you can have in 4 or 5 hours? Sounds interesting. I am doing very low carb or just one big meal of anything I want and I am just not hugry for any other additional meals. It is really working and I am losing more weight a week now than I have in the previous 4 months. Only during the first month of eating like this did I lose as much or more. I am really hooked on the IF combined with CAD. It is just amazing how little hunger I have, plus how much I can eat and still lose!

I'm eating an early breakfast and fasting until the next morning. It works! The Big Breakfast DIet by Daniella Jacobowitz. I am much more full the whole day and lose more than having a rm for dinner where I would gain up to 3 pounds. I never gain on this and on maintenance I can have a free day every 7th day.

Saw these new lows all this week: 216, 215.5, and 215 lbs! I am down 3.29 pounds this week which is so crazy I can't believe it! Another reason to do daily wts folks as there are random days where I was 217.5 which I was back almost a month ago on March 10th as well but with weekly avg I can see I am losing from week to week much better.

5:2 is based on a book. You fast(500 calories) 2 days a week and eat normally 5 days. I'm going to do the 4:3 since I need to create a bigger weekly calorie deficit in order to lose a bit quicker. I'll combine it with the eating window from Fast 5. Sort of my own hybrid of the 2 plans!

Good morning! I had a weird eating day yesterday. A friend came over to do our hair, so we wound up not eating until 1:00. Then I made salads for dinner, and we went out for ice cream. About 11, I was hungry and almost had a snack. Luckily, I thought about it and decided to have a glass of water instead. That was enough to get me through it!

Now it's about time to open my morning window, but I'm not that hungry, lol.

Lori, congrats on your challenge results!

I am SOP and today is Day 1 where I am doing a big breakfast as my RM. Will be interesting to see what my appetite will be later today. Last 2 days have been RM only due to appetite and stomach issues.

Hi all! Still here and still on plan. Nothing big to share...I decided to enter my calories for a few days and am coming in under 1500 per day. I am also trying to get 30 minutes of exercise per day. It's "that awful time of the month" and I'm super bloated, so I won't get on the scale again until it's over.

Yes, my TOM as well and I am soooooo hungry at 6:30pm. I am now WAY out of any sensible eating window and am now wondering if going for a breakfast RM was a mistake. I will power through this...

Sorry I haven't been keeping up here! I do read, but haven't taken time to post. Not much to report. I'm still finding my way with this IF thing. I'm doing 4:3 this week and will weigh in on Saturday morning. Fingers crossed for a loss!

I had a terribly hungry day yesterday. I've been doing the IF thing for over a month and yesterday was the hardest. I've always looked forward to my fasting days, but I'm dreading tomorrow since yesterday was so brutal. I was extra active on Tuesday....perhaps that's what made Wednesday's fast so hard? Not sure, but it was miserable.

Anyway.....feasting today and back to fasting tomorrow!

Hi all,

So, I wasn't hungry at all this morning during my usual "hunger pain" time. I guess I must have eaten the right amount/type of calories yesterday.

I will open my window soon with my pistachios and string cheese. Brought my lunch today and am doing roasted chicken and veggies for a simple dinner tonight.

Lately I have been doing just my RM meal.. I am doing the CAD diet...I got my period yesterday and no gain and no gain today !!! Very thrilled about that !! I can't quit thinking though that my metabolism is gonna slow down by only doing one meal a day because it goes against everything I have ever heard...hurting it can't try though right ?

I'm on my last Fast day of the week and will weigh in tomorrow morning to see if I've made any progress. This is my first week of 4:3. There seems to be some debate as to whether it is better to do a 5:2 or 4:3 as the losses don't seem that different. I'm going away next weekend, so it'll be a 5:2 week. I guess I'm my own best test subject, right?

Have a great weekend!

Lori, yes, we are our own best subjects. Diet groups and books and doctors can give us guidelines and starting points, but ultimately, we are unique individuals and must discover what works best for us.

If I was choosing between plans, I would choose the one that was the easiest for me to do and that I could sustain over time.

Lots of eating out this week at work, but my daily calories remain from 1226-1607 per day. I'm not trying to restrict calories to any certain level, but it's interesting to see the numbers. I don't feel deprived at all, and if someone had asked me to guess how many calories I was eating a day, I probably would have said 1800-2000.

CaraNoelle,

Check out Dr. Rosedale's (Ron first name) comments on metabolism. It is the coolest thing I ever read and made me think totally differently about the whole "fasting will slow down your metabolism" being a bad thing. He explains based on the science why it isn't. Same with cortisol. Like that in low carb people/fasters, it has a different, positive effect. Anyway, he wasn't too "science-ee" with his explanation, so it wasn't terribly boring or awful to understand. Sometimes some explanations for aspects of low carb sort of send my brain into overdrive but his was pretty good. although, I must admit, I sort of had to read and re-read it a few times. I think if you type in "Dr. Rosedale comments on Harvard Study" that is where I found it. Hope this helps.

The file might be too big - they have to be fairly small. I think it gives the size somewhere.

Hi CaraNoelle,

I can barely figure out how to get to this part of the forum much less upload. However, just type in what I said: Dr. Rosedale comments on Harvard Study----and you will find it. It was contained under the site "My Diabetes and Me" or something like that. But don't worry about that..just type in the Dr. Rosedale comments..blah, blah, blah and you will get it to show up and then you can go to the link. I had TOM very recently and it was MUCH better, as in less flow, which was nice.

Oriana, I am TOTALLY NOT an expert at this at all, but yes, I think eating once a day, means you are doing the IF. I know there's windows of time people do, and I think other plans on here like Fast Five, etc. are specific. But going one meal a day would definitely be doing it because you are giving the body a long break to do other things. AGain, the Rosedale guy explains why it's good, whereas I don't really have enough education to explain it properly. I like it because I get nutty and obsessive with food, so this is much nicer. The way the guy (Rosedale) explains it, as well as Eades, too, is that doing VLC gives you effects you would get from caloric restriction. I just figured why not do both awesome things...I.F. and Low carb.
