Hi MM, that's great!

I am starting to feel better. My cough is about gone. I still have congestion, and I sound kind of hoarse, but it's better.

Eating my apple and peanut butter for "breakfast." I'm glad I've found some simple foods that I really enjoy.

happy St. Patrick's Day!

I had a weird eating day on Friday. I haven't been feeling that great, which may have set it off. I was hungry at 10 am, with a meeting that started at 10:30. So, I decided to open my window a little early. I'm often done eating before 6:30 pm, anyway. I had a normal eating window, then came home, and my daughter and I went for a walk.

We came home, and I'd planned to make chicken for dinner. Well, the chicken smelled awful, so I threw it out, and we wound up going out to eat. But we didn't leave right away because she was trying to figure out plans with her friends and there was a lot of texting going on. We finally ate, but not until almost 7, and I felt really guilty about moving my window out earlier in the day and then needing to extend it at night.

I just had to remind myself that IF is intermittent by nature. I often have a window of 6.5 or 7, so a window of 9 hours isn't going to kill me. For some reason, I was feeling in "slippery slope" territory...you know, the old diet feeling of if you "blow your diet," you might as well just keep on blowing it.

To combat this feeling, I just decided to open my window a little later on Saturday so that I'd still have a nice long fat burning period. I wound up sleeping in and didn't need to eat until almost noon. So, I had a 6 hour window yesterday and will probably do a six hour window today, too.

Anyway, it was a good reminder to be kind to myself and to not panic if my timing gets a little off. IF is freedom and very forgiving, and I'm doing great staying on plan.

I haven't been that hungry today, so I had a plain hamburger at noon, followed by some tuna salad. Dinner will be a grilled ham and cheese and chips with some chocolate for desert.

Makes perfect sense, and a good reminder for all of us! I opened my eating window early yesterday, and am paying for it this morning--soooo hungry. 6 more hours though...I think I can do it!

Hi all,

I've been feeling in "slippery slope" territory lately too, so I'm checking in and reading the boards. I was doing great with a natural 7 hour window, but the death of a friend, and some peri-menopausal PMS issues have thrown me off-track. A back issue got me away from daily exercise too.

I've noticed that I'm eating more than I really want to, and my choices have been not great too. I saw a number on the scale this morning that I did not love, so I'm just here to take a deep breath and regroup before things get out of control.

Today I'm recommitting to a 7 hour window, and am going to exercise this morning. I'm also being mindful about my hunger. I think I've been using food for comfort, so I'll pay attention to what I really need, and not use chocolate as a quick fix for emotional pain.

Hope everyone has a beautiful day

Good morning!

Alcestis, good to have you posting here with us!

Lisa, you can do it!

I have all my good foods at work today. String cheese, pistachios, greek yogurt, blackberries, peanut butter, and an apple. Dinner tonight could be salmon, chicken, or tacos, but I haven't decided yet.

My daughter asked if we could do the Jillian Michael's Thirty Day shred, so we attempted it last night. It was harder than either of us thought it would be, lol. We are trying it again tonight!

A friend gave me some Cadbury mini-eggs at work....boy, those are good. I will occasionally have a few as my desert this week. I don't count calories, but I did make a mental note that a serving is 12 pieces for 190 calories...I would definitely count out a few and then put the bag away before I eat them because I know I could go crazy with them!

Hi Alcestis! I remember you from the JUDDD section. I'm an emotional eater myself, and have found that it's gradually decreasing as I stick to my 5 hour window. I try like mad to talk myself out of eating something I really don't need, but it doesn't always work out.

I went without exercising for the first couple weeks and now I started a couch25K plan--so hopefully this will also keep me in check.

Congratulations for recommiting yourself, and hope you check in here and there--I find that it helps so much!

Was so busy yesterday no time to eat nor even hungry so it was an etreme IF day with only one meal. I made that my RM and it was great! I felt fine all day and evening with the one meal. Today however I am eating my lunch CM at 1200 and will try to eat again around 5pm or so.

Bad news: lost my wedding ring It slipped off my fingers as they have got so loose lately. Been looking everwhere and next will be digging through all the garbage bags over a tarp. Ug, not looking forward to that!

Thanks for the comments, ladies. I love the support here

Yesterday was pretty good - I did a quick workout in the morning, and my food choices were a lot better than they have been lately. I can't say I only ate to hunger, but I was more mindful and didn't snack (always my downfall!).

Today is my birthday, so cake may be involved Exercise first though!

Hope everyone has a beautiful day.

Alcestis!!!

MIW, great stats as usual.... I had my engagement ring stolen last year. Sure hope you find your wedding ring....

Well, today is looking pretty good--stopped eating before 5pm last night, and not even hungry yet. I believe I will make it to noon with no problems!

Good morning!

Happy Birthday, Alcestis!

It's 9:15, and I'm in good shape. I haven't had any hunger yet this morning, which surprises me. I had a relatively small dinner last night of salmon, rice, asparagus, and a little bit of chocolate. I was feeling munchy last night and probably would have eaten something if I wasn't on IF. I thought the "munchy" feeling was due to a small dinner, but I'm fine this morning, so I think I was probably just kind of bored. Bored calories are not good ones!

My usual plan for today...dinner will either be a big salad with chicken or mini tacos. We will be on day three of Jillian Michael's Shred.

Hello! I am here and doing well on my plan. I didn't have any 8am hunger today and am good so far...will open my window in less than an hour.

We usually eat out on Wednesdays, but we didn't feel like going out, so we just made hamburgers and gluten free mac and cheese for dinner last night.

Keeping it simple.

mmm...burgers and mac n' cheese sounds delicious!

I get the hungries in the morning--that's the toughest part of Fast-5 for me, and I'm wondering if it might have something to do with the fact that I have 1/2 n 1/2 in my coffee every morning, 7 hours before I open my window. I suppose that could be affecting weight loss too, since it's kinda breaking the fast, right? But I need my coffee, and I can't drink it black...so....

Does anyone drink bullet-proof coffee during the fasting window? Was considering trying that, but not sure if that would be worse than my 1/2 n 1/2.

Hi Lisa!

I tried drinking coffee with coconut oil in it during my morning fasting time, but unfortunately, it just made me hungrier. I don't think the bullet proof coffee would work for me either, but I think it makes sense for you to give it a try! Have you thought about using heavy cream instead of half and half?

Off to lunch with co-workers...they told me I could choose, so I'm choosing Mexican food! My favorite!

I second trying heavy cream - you might still get hungry, but it's worth a try. I thought CO in coffee was foul, though I do like it in tea, especially ginger and mint.

SO excited! I weighed myself this morning and I broke 150! I weighed in at 149.8! That's around 4 lbs in 10 days I have shortened my eating windo to 6 hours though. A little rough, but completely doable

I LOVE heavy cream in my coffee--that was my staple during Atkins. I'd love to start doing that again, but I'm wondering if that would break my fast? My eating window is noon-5pm, and I've been drinking my coffee with 1/2 n 1/2 between 4am-5am. Maybe I should just stop that altogether and try to get the coffee in closer to my eating window?

I would just give it a try for a couple of days and see how you do. I am doing CAD and just by adding the iced decaf americano with cream caused my weightloss to stall for almost 8 weeks. that was the only change I made to my woe and even though it is on plan to be allowed to have cream in my coffee it didn't flow with my metabolism. The first week I stopped I lost 2 lbs! There was an article on one of the low carb forums I am on about dairy triggering huge insulin releases in certain people and that not all dairy is alike because I can still eat cheese no problem.

Give it a try and good luck! I now only drink water or herbal teas. I can do black coffee and I am afraid even EVCO due to the fat in it would stimulate more insulin release so I do not eat anything with any calories outside of my eating window. However I realize we are all different with different metabolisms so just play with it until you find what works. The Heller's are real big on Insulin Resistance so even if you are not following CAD/CALP per say, these signs will let you know you are doing something wrong: hunger, drowsiness, cravings, weight gain or stalls. Once you reign in insulin surges all that stuff should go away and you shouldn't be hungry at all and the weight should slowly slip off. I would say this would happen with any type of eating plan that controls insulin release.

Nice job on the weight loss, MikeysMama!!

MIW, thanks for the feedback --I'm going to try going without coffee in the morning for a while and see how I do. It's more of a "time of day" habit than craving kind of habit, so I think I'll be able to just drink clear tea when I get up in the morning.

Oh yeah! Congrats to MM and MIW for new scale weights! That's awesome!

Today is my last day at work before vacation. My daughter and I are driving to Las Vegas next week...it's her spring break. We are going to do a lot of shopping and maybe go to a show, plus hopefully we can sit out by the pool for a bit. I need some Vitamin D....it's snowing here in Utah today, bleh!

I am having my mild hunger this morning. I thought we were going to skip the Jillian Michael Shred DVD yesterday, but my daughter came home early from the basketball game, so we did it. That's 5 days out of 30...I think we are taking it with us on our trip next week.

Typical eating day for me. I am doing chicken and salad for dinner, plus desert. And then we are going to go to a couple of stores to see if we can find some cute clothes to wear on our trip.

Have a great Friday, everyone!

I chose to drop coffee on and off as well and I am still mixed about it. I think I need to make my WOE liveable and that means coffee in the AM sometimes, even though I really, really love the benefits of fasting 16 hours daily. You are right, Saxy, it was a "time of day" thing and I was able to break it - I drink lots more tea, now, too!!

So, I am on a mish mash plan that combines fasting in a window on some days, CAD on some days, 5:2 on some days and once in a while simply a SAD no counting day. So far, very liveable.

Route66---I think it's very important that whatever plan we do, it's liveable. It has to be sustainable over time. Well said!

I've recently discovered a Teavana store relatively close to home, so I'm really enjoying the many different kinds of tea--still though, I LOVE cream in my hot drinks...especially the chocolate-based black teas.

Sounds like your mish-mash plan is working! I'm right with you on making the plan liveable....I know I'll never give up on my creamy coffee or tea drinks, so I guess it will take a little tweaking to figure out how much (or when) I can drink it to best suit my WOE.

Rachel, have a fantastic time in Vegas!

Yes, have fun Rachel! Sounds like an awesome trip. My daughter is only 3 and I can't wait for us to do all sorts of things together like a road trip

Today I am just into my new undies that were way too small a couple of months ago! My old undies were WAAAAYYYY to big and getting yucky all stretched out and holes. My bras are next but they are like $45 each so I can't just go replacing those willy nilly every 3 months. Pants are definately getting loose as well. Can't believe it but I may just need a new wardrobe soon!

Happy Saturday evening everyone!

I just finished my first day of Fast 5 after having limited success doing JUDDD for the past 3 weeks. My window is 2-7 and I think that will work well for me most days. Today was supposed to be a DD on JUDDD, so I really didn't eat many calories and am a bit worried that I'll be VERY hungry till 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.

I've been reading thru this thread and you all seem to be a very supportive group.

I look forward to being an active member here!

Just hang it out. I think no matter what type of diet you follow, the first few days are the hardest until your body adjusts. However, your insulin levels should get normalized at some point and you shouldn't be hungry anymore until regular meal interval times- whatevery your body naturally wants. I would say after the first week or even two if you stick it out and you are still hungry a lot then it is not the diet for you and find one that works.

I do a mix of CAD/CALP with IF with a window of close to 5-6 hours now. Sometimes I only eat one meal a day but it ends up being whatever I want. Even only eating one time a day some days I am not hungry the other 23 hours! It is crazy! Water or tea gets me though until I am ready to eat. I ussually most days do one low carb meal of just meat/dairy/veggies and a regular dinner of whatever I want and I am still slowly losing! I love it
