Hi. I'm going to join you folks. I've read all the posts and salt seems to be a demon for many - me included. However, I am careful about my salt intake PLUS take potassium supplement. Drs. Mary and Michael Eades, in their Protein Power book suggest taking potassium supplement after every meal.

I'm not doing High Protein, but do the postassium anyway because there is so much salt in so many foods. Plus I developed prehypertension and got normal BP by doing what I stated.

Warning: Do not take potassium supplements if you're on High Blood Pressure meds as it includes potassium.

Also can use Lite Salt which has 50% less salt than table salt plus includes potassium.

Anyway, I started my weight tracking program 12/29/12 and use graph paper with dates, weight, exercise done.

My goal was to lose 1 pound a week which I have not accomplished. I lost 1 pound the first week, then gained. Probably due to starting weights which builds muscle which weights more. LOL However, yesterday I decided to stick with cardio until I lose weight.

I was very discouraged this week so didn't weigh everyday. Plus I never weigh when I've been awake all night <- sleep problem. Always weigh more after one of those nights. Not fair. LOL Weight loss happens at night.

Goal was to lose 4 lbs in January. Started 1/29/12 at 136.5 lbs. Weight goal: 125 lbs

Week 1. Lost 1 lb. (136.5 to 135.5 plus inches)
Week 2. 136

Week Three
Sunday 1-13 Didn't weigh
Monday 1-14 Didn't weigh (last night no sleep)
Tuesday 1-15 = 137.5 lbs
Wednesday 1-16 Didn't weigh (Tues blew me away)
Thursday 1-17 = 135.5 lbs
Friday 1-18
Saturday 1-19

I promise to weigh regularly rest of week and next week.

BTW, this is a very good idea. Fits with my tracking sheet, but will keep me from skipping weigh-ins. Thanks.

SHARSS to the thread,glad your here with us to beat our weight problems. I'm low carbing with 2 days of fasting with Atkins Shakes 3 x's day. I lost a total of 23 lbs in 2012 just low carbing and fasting.I going to continue doing so. MY cholesterol is is high even with the meds I using, so new doctor is going to put me on new meds and see what happens. I also have to watch my carbs as I'm a border line diabetic.

HOPE-Finally go rid of my cough that I had around the holiday. Now I trying to get down this month to get to my first goal. Hope are you doing?????

Hope, way to go, girl! Hang in there Maryann. From what I've read on different posts/forums, sometimes it's harder to lose weight when on medications. I'd suggest adding 1000mg Vitie C timed release is it's ok with your meds. You can ask your pharmacist or doctor.

I believe maybe my scale needs a new battery. It's not dead, but may be dying so will change today. Gave me 136, 135.5, and 135. I hope the lower one is the valid one, but used the middle number. Maybe after battery change tomorrow will be valid. Either that or new scale maybe. Whoever heard of a scale going bad.

Yes, Hope, changed the battery and it was consistent today. Yah!!! 135 lbs was probably the valid number yesterday. I'm watching my calories too.

Most likely I won't post tomorrow, but will Monday. Usually don't get on the computer on weekends. Give myself a rest from the computer since I'm on it so much during the week - I trade currencies plus this forum now and FB. However, I got on today to post my weight.

I decided to up my cardio and will mark the days I do it along with my weight.

From last Sat. to today I lost 1 lb so hit my weekly goal. Last Sat was 135.5.

Week Three

Monday 1-14 Didn't weigh (last night no sleep)
Tuesday 1-15 = 137.5 lbs

Weight gain over the weekend. Experimenting with having weekend free days, but the Sat. macNcheese apparently did me in.

I'm copying your weekly tracking, Maryann. Even though I didn't start this thread when it first began, I had been tracking on my chart since 12/29 when I started. I also am going to be using NA for my non-sleep nights - like tonight - since I won't weigh in the morning.

Doesn't look like I'll meet my goal this month, but that's ok since there has been some movement that I hope holds. Just means I'd better do better next month.

Maryann...Thank you for the welcome I don't blame you for staying in the house, it is FREEZING and today is even worse than yesterday! I see you are in Massachusetts too, I am right down the road from you in Springfield!

I love JUDDD, and I lost 30 pounds on it but I am not doing it right now, it has led me to some serious binge issues. I lost 90 pounds last year and my body is giving me hell for that. So right now I am not really trying to force the weight loss thing too much, I am trying to pretty much stabilize my body where it is right now until it comes back out of it's panick mode. I am hoping that healthier eating, a little exercise, and keeping an eye on the calories do the trick!

I see you are very sensitive to sodium too! I try to avoid it like the plague, we went out to eat Sunday a week ago, to 99 restaurant, that ONE time had me retain 11 !!! pounds of water.

Erika...We're kind of on the same page. I say "kind of" because I am trying to force weight loss by watching calories - except on weekends which I may have to change -, but my priority focus is getting fit. As a result, I'm exercising more.

When I started, most of my weight was fat. Now that I'm building more lean weight could be the reason I'm not seeing too much of a difference in my weight. Sure have a ways to go though, but it took a long time to get to that point and it'll take awhile to get where I should be. Doesn't help that I lead such a sedentary life style since retiring.

We'll make it!

Maryann...Thank you for the welcome I don't blame you for staying in the house, it is FREEZING and today is even worse than yesterday! I see you are in Massachusetts too, I am right down the road from you in Springfield!

I love JUDDD, and I lost 30 pounds on it but I am not doing it right now, it has led me to some serious binge issues. I lost 90 pounds last year and my body is giving me hell for that. So right now I am not really trying to force the weight loss thing too much, I am trying to pretty much stabilize my body where it is right now until it comes back out of it's panick mode. I am hoping that healthier eating, a little exercise, and keeping an eye on the calories do the trick!

I see you are very sensitive to sodium too! I try to avoid it like the plague, we went out to eat Sunday a week ago, to 99 restaurant, that ONE time had me retain 11 !!! pounds of water.

Hi Erick,well this morning I want out to Mass and choir practice and the temps were 6 this morning comparing to the 11 that we had.

Yes I moved to the Cape 15 years ago when my husband & I retired up here from LI NY. Now that I'm a widow I NEVER want to go back to that place as I LOVE Cape Cod. Met lots & lots of friends.

I was on the JUDD for a while but I just couldn't get used to the low days of 400 -500 calories every other day. Now I fast with 480 calories only two days a week that keeps me accountable to my weight loss.

Yes sodium is a bad thing for me, the minute I go out to a restaurant or eat process foods I blow up like a balloon. Two TG ago I blew up 20 lbs but I had a hip problem at that time and once my doctor grave me a cortisone shot my weight weight went down to normal again.

Maryann...That scale has been really good to you this week! Way to go! I might have to try what you are doing, throw in a fasting day or two a week, may be that will help me keep my weight under control a bit better!

I bet you love Cape Cod! Massachusetts is a beautiful state, heck all the New England states are beautiful, I would not want to live anywhere else!

Sharss...I hear you there, our priority should be getting healthy. When I first started I was ALL fat, 260 pounds and barely able to walk, but that's exactly what I started to do, walk, and I'm still walking at least 30 minutes every day and started to use my gazelle and stationary bike a bit more, I never want to go back to where I was!

Kelly Coffey-Meyer is one of my FB Friends. I try to visit her FB page when I'm on which I did yesterday. Found out that I'm suppose to be doing both Workouts on alternate days and that it's important to work through the soreness. First of Jan., I was focusing on Body Sculpture every other day, then switched to Cardio every other day. Now will try to do the alternate days as she suggests. I've added Yoga to see if it helps with the soreness.

I dreaded weighing in this morning and as I walked to the scales, I felt heavy. Imagine my surprise when the scale was down. Probably because I did take my Vitie C yesterday. I had stopped my vities because I didn't know if they were contribution to my sleepless all nighters.

Week Four

Monday 1-21 = 136 (Cardio)
Tuesday 1-22 NA
Wednesday 1-23 = 135 (Cardio)(Yoga)

Maryann...Did those shots help your hips? I'm going to a chiropractor Monday for the same reason - hip problems. Don't have good side range of motion in my legs. Mine are the result of inactivity.


Erika...Give yourself a chance, Erika, before making changes. Look how you went down to 171.6 Tuesday. Look at the rest of us fluctuating up and down and then the dump down a pound. I write down not only what I eat on a daily basis, but times also. Sometimes when my weight fluctuates up, it's because of what I ate late. Perhaps the same thing with you???

Don't get discouraged. I think your drop shown three days this week is impressive. Look at that!

Erika, when I started Kelly's Start Here dvd, I couldn't even make it through the 5 Minutes warm up without pausing. Now I can plus make it through the other two workouts with two-three pauses. I figure in a couple of weeks to make it through without pauses. Like you, I never want to go back to that.

SHARSS==When I had the hip problem 2 years ago my orthopedic doctor told me that I had bursitis in my hip and he first was going to try the cortisone and if that didn't work he would preform a called a bursectomy.But the treatment of RICE[[REST,ICE,CORTISONE SHOT,EXERCISE]] worked for me.

Maryann...Thanks for the info. I hadn't thought of bursitis. in fact, didn't even know about that one. I've been thinking either calcium deposits or arthritis from inactivity. It'll be interesting to see if the chiropractor can do anything. Sure glad your shot helped you!

Erika...Yes, be patient. It's going to take more than a few days for a different food style to set in. From looking at all our ups and downs, I'm concluding that the dip down is our valid weight while the weight ups are based on different factors whether salt or eating late like I sometimes do. Congrat on your two pound loss!

I'm eating low fat, lean protein, and moderate carbs and it's working - or so it seems along with exercise. My bod loves protein so I am eating plenty of that. Everyone is different. Stick with your plan for a few more weeks and then make some changes if necessary. Remember: Calories in and Calories out.

I swear, looking at the Forum's Other Plans Threads, I see folks jumping here and there trying this or that. I'm wondering what it's doing to their bodies.
