Nice to see all the new people here and the conversations! Happy New Year's everyone!
Oriana- that is excellent. I know you must have an awesome metabolism and obviously with your exercise and training regimen your body is so happy to be getting fed For anyone who wants it: send me a private message with your email and I will email you the CAD/CALP articles and tipsheets that pretty much spell out the diet, how it works, all the approved foods/veggies, etc for the CM's and the RM. Rene, you don't have to use a low carb wrap with a reward meal. Use whatever kind you like!

Karen, I'll just use plain cream cheese, but you could flavor it?
Miw, do you use plain cream cheese in your celery? |

I have bought a big bag of smoked almonds, and if life throws me a curve ball, I have been using almonds and diet pop for a treat that acts as a CM. No skipped meal!!!
Ends up once or twice per week, and helping me stay on plan, and no weak moments. |

yes, I use just plain old run of the mill cream cheese. We get huge bricks of it at Cash and Carry. I got the idea from a gal on another CAD forum I am on who has been doing it for several years and thought "gee, sounds tastey!" and it is! MIW |

If you are insulin resistant, yes, you should lose weight. But do understand it will probably be on the slower end of losing and you probably won't lose 2-5 lbs a week like I did in the beginning sice I have close to 100 lbs to lose. I am average 1.4lbs a week in lose. You might lose 0.5 lbs a month, maybe a week but who knows? Don't get discouraged. If you are never hungry, are not gaining weight, and are feeling great, and slowly losing weight- that is what you want! That is a way you can eat for the rest of your life! Woke up retaining a lot of water this am after taking ibuprofen before bed. Weight this morning of 153.8. My knees are all puffy!
Enjoyed an rm last night of salad with chicken, ranch, and tortilla strips, with a cup of loaded baked potato soup. Delicious! And I was too full for desert. I will plan for one tonight, though. I plan to make homemade chicken nuggets and roasted potatoes, with 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream for desert. I buy the little Haagen Daz single serving ice creams...just the right amount. Karen, I love almonds/walnuts too. Would love to work those back into my plan at some point. They are healthy, portable, easy to eat, and filling! Been googling all morning looking for some recipes for green smoothies. Going to do those for breakfast weekdays and have that with a string cheese or an egg for some protein.
Also going to make up a batch or soup every weekend for easy weekday meals. Its the planning that sabotages me! Also the lack of time or want to spend time making lunches. Soup, I can make up a big pot and have it all week ![]() Then dinner is whatever everyone else is having! |

I love Saturday mornings. I slept in and made myself scrambled eggs with ham, Swiss cheese, and sour cream.
I think soup is a great idea. Please share your soup recipes with us! |

MIW, actually I have had a horrible metabolism. I used to gain just looking at food. Remember I used to eat fruit all day and then a little food at night and I was up 5 pounds the next day. Honest, all I had to do was smell food and I would gain. I actually lost a pound on that unbalanced rm last night of 1 1/2 huge apples, 12 oz. of Reesees pb cubs. I just got a hankering like I do sometimes for cereal. Then I get it out of my system and that is that. Today I had a low carb cappucino/steak, green beans, salad with ranch. Tonight's rm will be pizza and ice cream!

We went to check out the new outlet mall today. They had a Johnny rockets, and I thought about switching lunch to my rm so I could have a coke and fries. But, I decided I really just wanted a bunless burger for lunch. Just came home and enjoyed my delicious homemade nuggets, roasted potatoes, and two fancy chocolate truffles. A wonderful meal and I love cad because I feel free to make choices.

Let me know if you find an acceptable CM friendly green smoothie! I have been talking with Hubby about that since he really did like to juice. We did that for awhile after watching, "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" and did the "Mean Green" recipe. You can find it if you google it. It calls for ginger which we didn't use but also lemon which I am pretty sure might cause insulin issues but kale, cukes, celery should be fine! We've also juiced cabbage which is an aquired tatse! Hey everyone! Well, I finally broke the "215" plateau! I've been at 214 for 2 days now and very excited! Really looking forward to the New Year and all the possibilities.........
Oh, and DH and I make our lunch salads, to take to work, the night before when we have all the "fixins" out, that way it doesn't seem like such a chore early in the morning.......just saying |

Good morning! Weight today at 153.8. I actually felt like riding my exercise bike last night, so I did for 30 minutes.
3pupsmom, that's awesome. Great to see your progress! It's almost 9 am here, and I'm getting hungry. I'll have some eggs and ham soon! |

Copied from another thread~
This is the soup for this week Wanda's Cabbage Roll Soup 1 large can tomato juice 1 bunch fresh dill 2 tsp caraway seeds 2 lbs browned ground beef or ground turkey 3 cartons low sodium chicken broth 2 onions chopped 1 whole bunch celery (this is an important ingredient!) 3 cans diced tomatoes 1 head cabbage I brought the contents to a boil and then reduced the heat to low and let it simmer from morning until dinner. The fresh dill in this soup makes it! |

Up 2.5 from the 5 pc. of pizza and mug of icecream with soda last night. Not worried in the least. Went for a run this morning and had 2 oz. cheese, coffee with cream. Who can tell me what an Americano is and can I get it hot with HWC in it? What is the difference between an Amer. and a reg. cup of coffee with cream?

I volunteer at a cat rescue on Sunday mornings, so I decided to wait and have breakfast when I got home. Just had scrambled eggs with ham and swiss cheese at 11....yum! That's a 16 hour fast from when I finished my dinner last night...
Grocery day today....haven't decided what I'm taking for my CM's this week yet. I'll work on that next. Oriana, an americano is espresso shots freshly brewed plus very hot water. To me, it has a fresher taste than brewed coffee. Most of the coffee shops in my area don't use heavy cream....they use half and half. So, just know that if you order an americano with cream....they will probably give you half and half instead. You could ask, though. I think an americano with heavy cream is called a breve, but I'm not totally sure. Lotus, I bet the dill does make the soup! |

Well, back to school tomorrow. I teach 1st grade so that means I have to get up at 3 a.m. to run before. Also, means starvation in the day. I only really have time to eat maybe 3 oz. cheese and a coffee with cream until dinner.

Oriana, good luck heading back to school tomorrow. I hope you had a nice break.
On Sundays, my daughter has dinner with her dad, so I decided to have my RM at lunch. We went to Pei Wei, and I had gluten free sweet and sour chicken, some white rice, and some edamame. I had a regular Coke, too. We didn't eat until 2:30. so I know I won't be hungry for a few hours. I'll probably have a really light dinner....maybe some cottage cheese and salad or whatever protein sounds good later. I love it that CAD gives me the flexibility to make choices and that I didn't have to opt for a cold salad at lunch. (It's really cold here.) Bought groceries for the week, including string cheese, cheddar cheese, pepperoni, hamburger, salad mix, salad dressing, and green veggies for my CM's. RM's this week will be homemade GF pizza, gluten free mac and cheese with tuna, and hamburger patties with roasted potatoes. We got a green veggie for each RM, plus good quality chocolate and Haagen Daz ice cream. And I got cheesecake for tomorrow night...we are trying to do something special every Monday! |
