I had my rm at 9 a.m. this morning and have had it all week. I am full full full all day and even at night. The key is to eat at least 7 oz. of protein and fat, not just carb heavy. I experimented and ate a rm dinner last week inbetween the breakfast rm days and I gained 3 pounds overnight on the rm dinner. The most I have ever gained on big breakfast rm was 1 pound but most days I lose. I am going to keep it up for awhile. I ordered the Stress Cure Diet that promotes the big rm breakfast and eating rm in the earlier part of the day. I'm going to try it for while just eating one meal a day. Also, they say it doesn't have to be balanced with veggies. I too was scared I would want a dinner but I was so full all day and couldn't have eaten a think. My friend who lost 100 pounds and maintains it eats earlier too and just one meal a day and has for 5 years.

oriana, this intrigues me. i did have my RM at 1pm on Sunday, and it was really quite simple to not eat much of anything later that evening. we have church in evening, so i thought that maybe my contentedness was from being busy. dunno.

do you think upping it to noonish would work, too?

i really relish being able to eat with my family, but maybe i'll jump on that band wagon and give it a shot starting on a day that i'm having a particular problem wanting to eat.

i sooooo love to eat in the evening, as most people do, but if i'd lose weight better with this method, it's worth a shot.

For all you early rm eaters you need to read a book that is referenced in the Hellers last book Stress-Eating Cure promoting the earlier you eat the better and to eat a big breakfast rm. The book is by an endocrologist that deals with metabolism disorders, etc. The book is called The Big Breakfast Diet by Daniella Jacobowitz. I eat more eating a big breakfast. She says that you can eat up to 3000 calories for breakfast! Then on maintenance and that is where I am now you continue your big breakfasts with low carb lunch and dinner or you can skip them for 6 days. On the 7th day you have a free day eating whatever you want at all meals. I tried it once and after eating all week a big breakfast and then a free day on Sat. I gained but dropped way below my original weight. It jump started thing. You can google the big breakfast diet too. I may start a thread. Personally I only eat before 9 a.m. and don't eat again until the next day I am so full and satisfied. You MUST eat at least 7 oz. of protein though for breakfast.

That is great. It is supposed to minimize insulin resistance and drag insulin into the cells. That is what glucophage/metformin type diabetic medications do but those are synthetic and stop working after a while. GTF chromium in natural and a substance found in food anyways. It is just a natural way to aid the body in doing what it should be doing anyways and more concentrated. GTF chromium is also found in black pepper so I crack fresh ground black pepper on everything! It is also in cheese and wine too, as well as other foods but the calories, fat, alcohol, etc can exacerbate IR so since I can't eat those in unlimited amounts and outside of RM for some I just use the supplement and the black pepper

You are slowly bringing me over. I may just move my window up to about 11-2pm. I ate yesterday around 2:30 and we were up late until about 10pm. While I wasn't hungry, I think if I would have eaten at a more normal breakfast time it would have been too tempting to try to fit another meal in. I will have to give it a try. I think for me it is more mental and if I ate early I'd be all day thinking "what am I going to do for the rest of the day?" and might want to squeeze in more meals even if I am not hungry just because the time is there.

I started a Big Breakfast Thread. THis works. I am 107 pounds today and acually lost a pound from my BB yesterday. THis is what I had: 1 raisin bagel with butter, 2 eggs, 4 bacon, 2 oz. cheese, coffee with HWC and splenda, 1 1/2 Costco carrot cake cupcakes. I was so full all day until about 8 p.m.and then I just read a book and went to bed. Today is ribeye, salad with ranch, ice cream. Yes, you can even eat pizza for breakfast. I was a little disappointed that the Hellers copied her diet. THey don't even recommend the one hour window anymore for the big balance breakfast. Dr. J. says to start eating when you get up and stop before 9 a.m. even if you have to have 2 breakfasts! You can get up and have some cheese or a smoothie at 5a.m. if you get up too early and then finish at 8:30 before 9. I like this diet better. I love that every 7th day I can have a free day. It really jumpstarts my metatolism. I had a 4000 calorie free day last week, was up 2 pounds as she said you will be up and then after 2 big breakfast days I was down below my original weight and was actually a skinny 105. If this works for me it will really work for someone heavier! I am convinced. I was disappointed that Rachael confessed that for the last 15 years she was craving on CAD until the Big Balanced Breakfast was discoverd which was already around!

Saw these new lows all this week: 216, 215.5, and 215 lbs! I am down 3.29 pounds this week which is so crazy I can't believe it! Another reason to do daily wts folks as there are random days where I was 217.5 which I was back almost a month ago on March 10th as well but with weekly avg I can see I am losing from week to week much better.

Oriana, what is the book called? Is there another one besides The Stress Eating Cure?

I'm glad this thread was started. I mentioned in an earlier post about how I had planned to rotate my RM, just to mix it up a bit but ended up not doing so because I was very anxious about having a RM at breakfast. My idea was that eating so early in the day might make me hungry later that evening and even though I knew I could just eat low carb in the evening if I did get hungry, there is the calorie count to take into consideration as well. Now after such good results from others, I can relax a bit about trying that option. I don't like to stress out about eating but for me at this point, I've learned that a few decisions in the wrong direction can send me into a spiral that takes me a while to come back from with my eating. I have a really strong carb addiction. I don't binge often but when I do, it's BIG TIME as in whole cakes in one day binges on top of the rest of the days' calories, fat and carbs. I'm talking about double layer, 3" each layer! It was crazy and out of control. I felt like a junkie needing a fix. I would hide food I was too stuffed to choke down because I wanted to come back later to finish it and didn't want anyone else to eat it. No one knew about this behaviour, not even DH. Not one time since this woe have I even WANTED to do anything close to that and that in itself is amazing! All that was probably TMI, LOL. Anyway, I still think that rotation is a good idea. It can be a tool used especially during possible stalls. I also in fact decided to use the weekends as a "free day" and started implementing that this past weekend, relaxing on the woe by having a lc breakfast with coffee, cream and stevia. Still sort of SOP but from a caloric aspect, higher in calories because so far I've only been eating one meal a day and that is the RM at dinner before 6pm. I've just not been hungry or having ANY cravings. If I get on the scale tomorrow (my weigh in day) and I'm down or at least no gain after the increased caloric intake over the weekend, then I will start out this upcoming week with the RM at breakfast and see how things go. Hopefully I won't want to eat more. I think for some people caloric intake may be an issue and I may be one of those people. When I was doing HCG, I couldn't lose weight on the 500 cal plan--I had to up it to at least 1000/1200 and even then the scale was barely moving. 20lbs in a month is all I lost on that and I have/had over 100lbs to lose. That is too slow for me, having lots of weight to lose while eating low calorie with no indulgences. It's more like punishment for being bad. LOL. On Atkins I lose on average 14lbs in nine days but after two weeks the craving come back stronger than ever and I always end up bingeing on carbs. CAD is the easiest woe I've ever done. It's unfortunate that I was not satisfied with the slower weight loss approach and flexibility of this plan when I tried it 15+ years ago but I've lived and learned, as they say.

Yes its slow, but I can also go about my days without feeling like I am dieting - just living - and I am down 8.6 pounds on CAD in exactly6 Weeks. I think losing this slow will make the loses more permanent as well, with zero exercise implemented at this point. Working on it!

i have never been a big breakfast eater, but i can attest to that fact that after having one yesterday, i wasn't hungry all day. even now, i'm not hungry but "need" to eat. i haven't eaten since yesterday at 10 am!

I'm glad i tried switching my large meal to the am. it's definitely an eye opener for me.

i don't know how people do it, eating a lot of small meals in a day. sure, that'd work for people that don't need to watch their weight. but for me, eating a lot of small meals just kept me hungry/craving. (I hadn't heard about the stress eating cure until the other day. so glad once again, Dr. Heller has struck oil!!!!)

there's something about being able to eat a large amount, to feel really full at least once per day, which is why CAD is so appealing to me. but when i ate my big meal in the evening, i was "happy" just until bedtime. when i ate it at breakfast, i was "happy" for hours and hours!

typically, between the time my hubby would get home from work and the time he'd finally sit down and eat, i'd say to him, "NORMAL people are eating supper about now! ugh!" (he thinks eating is a waste of time!) i wouldn't eat my meal til he sat down with me.

last night was so different! he was putsing on the computer, and i was just going about my merry way! it mattered NOT to me cause my cravings weren't there, even, yet, 8 hours later! of course by that time, i wasn't stuffed, but i didn't even FEEL hungry either.

I know I know. I am a huge dinner fan and was scared to eat only breakfast as my rm and now I am convinced. I am down another pound. Since I am on maintenance I can eat all day on Saturday. That is after 6 days of a big breakfast. This morning after 24 hours I am still not hungry but am starting with 3 oz. cheese with coffee and HWC I have 1/2 sub sandwich and 2 lg. carrot cupcakes for dessert today.

yesterday, i had a late start, and finished eating by 10:15. I was fully planning on having a low carb snack in the evening, but i just didn't feel the need to. this is very unlike me.

supposedly, the earlier you have the RM, the better.

i've heard that the free day is mentioned in the "big breakfast" book.

no, i haven't lost anything yet. yesterday was my first day with a breakfast RM, though i've been CALPing for a good month already.

i've also been JUDDDing nonstop for 10 months, with no breaks in between. generally, i'm happy with a 1 pound loss for the week. i average 1300 calories a day. so with this, i'm trying to keep that same amount. the only difference is the timing of the food consumption. i'm certain this will work, but now i'm actually not consumed with my next meal all the time.

I tried JUDDD and all of my UDs were UUADs.

I really don't want to count carbs or calories, and that is why CAD is perfect for me. I am sure I am eating 2500+ calories per day. And losing over a pound a week. WOO-HOO CAD!

I thought about doing RM breakfasts, but that may make my life too complicated as my social eating times with others are never in the morning. I want to be able to enjoy myself at parties, gatherings, birthdays, etc., and those never happen in the morning.
