Okay ladies I have decided that McDonald's is a no-no. The only thing I am allowed to get there is a plain burger. Everything else is full of sugar. I got a bacon ranch salad today. The dressing alone had 9 carbs in it. THEN, the salad was covered in Frito chips AND some kind of sweet sauce was all over it. Another reward lunch. boo. I like having reward DINNER! Wait, I'm not complaining. That would be insane. I am eating Cadbury eggs and complaining at the same time. Ha!

The few times I have gone to McDonald's while since doing CAD for my CM this is what I get:

A quarter pounder with cheese, and the "Classic" grilled (a chicken sandwhich). I chuck the buns, eat all the cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, condiments. Kind of salty- ok very saltly! but otherwise on plan although not as many veggies as I'd like. Also a bottled water if I didn't already have mine with me which is rare these days.

I work about 14 hours a day running my own business from home so I find it easier to eat garbage food while I am out running my errands and end up at fast food (probably why I got fat). I have zero me time. However, last night, I cooked chicken for dinner but made tons of chicken so I can just eat it for lunches and breakfast too if I want, cold right out of the fridge. Now I just need to get some veggies going on! so far my only CM veggies have been celery and a little lettuce.

But thanks for the McDonald's suggestion. I am sure I will be ordering that lots. =)

Good Afternoon! McDonald's is so annyoing to me sometimes! Everything has bread, breading, french fries, sugar....... I end up with a bunless burger, grilled chicken, and iced tea----sometimes I feel you spend a lot of money on nothing there! For me I would rather make it my RM and eat all the other stuff with it... LOL

Andrea---great job preparing the chicken ahead of time, I need to do that!

Last night I had one of my comfort foods....fried breaded fish/french fries! yummy!

Once upon a time I went to McDonald's and ordered FOUR Big Macs and sat and ate them all in my car. That night, I had to go to the emergency room and have emergency surgery for a gallbladder attack. That only stopped me from eating fast food for about three weeks, then I was right back to it. So, it obviously has crack in it.

CAD is RAD! Yay us!

CAD is RAD because I haven't had that hunger/craving urge after dinner in over 3 weeks. I'm trusting the science behind this woe....

I am proud of myself. Took a friend out for sushi for her b-day yesterday and close to one hour being up I wanted something chocolate like ice cream. They didn't have anymore of their little desserts circulating around and I almost almost almost said, "F it" and went to Dairy Queen for a blizzard knowing I would be over my hour. However I didn't. I realized when I got in the car I had a couple of nice St. Patrick's Day frosted sugar cookies in my lunch bag to bring home from work for the kids. Ate those instead, was in my hour and felt satisfied.

Note to self, don't just keep protein snacks and water on hand for CM's. Keep goodie-carbs on hand in case of sucky RM's needing a dessert!

MIW----WTG I really think that little something sweet eaten in within the 60 minutes is the best miracle trick ever! Great job not going to Dairy Queen, you are rocking CAD!

Sometimes I think this is all in my head like a placebo effect or something. But, the 60 minute RM is working!

I am down to coffee with cream in the a.m. and then a rm lunch and lovin it. Sometimes a rm dinner. Have any of you been on all fruit diets ? What are your dieting histories. Mine was fruit fruit fruit and I have a hard time getting over the health aspect of eating the way I am now since fruit was a cleansing diet. I hope this is healthy too with all of the goodies I am eating and fat too. The mind is playing tricks on me.

Ok everyone, it's been awhile. I am now at the end of week 19 and since I cut out the coffees, and am now doing IF along with CAD in a 6-8 hour window (some days a 4-5 hour window!) the weight is coming off and I am less hungry than ever! Still eating tons but just wanted to share. I am back where the Heller's say about you "should" be losing 1/2 to 2 lbs a week. No more gaining/losing same amount with no real budges.

Oh boy, I tried them all! The fruit thing I only did for a flush, so like 3-4 days. Personally I think your better off doing what your doing now than an all fruit diet. But thats me.

Boy its just an ever changing process of learning and growing and trying to figure out what works for you. I still haven't found my *formula* yet either! I like and believe in in certain diets but then executing them is difficult or doesn't work for me. Oh well, its ever evolving, one day it will all click!

Lotus,
Why doing you try just having coffee with cream or nothing for breakfast and a large lunch rm or dinner rm. I eat at 1 p.m. a very large rm and am full all day and night and my friend eats one meal a day and lost 100 pounds, maintained for 5 years now at 126.

Oriana, that is so awesome about your friend! I wonder if the Heller's are ever going to study the IF thing now that is it more en vogue and seems like there is a lot of research about it, why it works, etc and that for some people, it may be the magic ticket. I mean, they've already done the original CAD which works for many, CALP with the balance, The Stress Eating Cure for others who need their RM at breakfast, and I mean Racheal Heller really lost her weight due to IF anyways....

How are you doing? It seems you have been on CAD now about 3 months or so? Have you been maintaining and happy with how you feel? Any gains or frustrations? What has been/ has not been working for you? Seems like you've found your happy place with it and I'd like to hear what is working for you. It would actually be inspirational for some of us who hope to get to our goal weights and see that we can still eat and maintain! LOL

Lotus, thanks so much! You are always the most positive and encouraging poster on all the CAD boards and I so appreciate it!

Since I am doing modified CAD/CALP with IF, it is really simplifying things even further and also controlling hunger even better than I had expected. If I have to go a couple hours more until I break my fast then what I had been planning, it really is no big deal. Having water is the key.

The last 2 days I have been doing a LC CM and about 3-4 hours later a RM that has really just been carbs only. Actually losing this way. I don't plan on this being a regular thing but since my eating window seems to be getting naturally shorter (was doing a 6-8 hour and now down to 3-6 hour some days) I am just not hungry again for more protein and veggies. It is really almost like one RM just spaced out over a longer period, but definately broken up into separate meal times, not a grazing type thing.

It is working! I weighed myself this am: 217.5 lbs. I weighed again right before I broke my fast and 217 lbs yep, drinking all morning long too.

You know what is really astounding about my weight loss? It is with no self deprivation, no calorie counting, no carb counting, etc. That is the whole point. It is not a diet. It is my lifestyle and finally a WOE that can be forever and give me the happiness and health I am after. If I wanted to lose 5 lbs a week I could starve myself but after years of doing that and only getting fatter- HECK NO! LOL

I love the combo of CAD/CALP and IF for insulin control. It is amazing how if you just rearrange your eating habits, you can still actually eat whatever you want, and in whatever amounts and actually lose weight. It is mind boggling! If I wasn't living it I wouldn't believe it! I actually don't mind the weight creeping off (although flying off would be ok too! LOL) since I don't even feel like I am on a diet and I just also happen to be losing weight-- what is not to like about this?

Today was my Spa Day. It just felt right. So often I push through resting and relaxing to take care of others or get "just one more thing" done.

I actually recently went to an all women's spa with a friend and it was very fun, relaxing, and liberating. There are sections in it where you are completely nude...

Anyways, today me 3 yo and I did facials with milk and turmeric, made new body balm with coconut oil, jojoba oil, real aloe vera gel, biotin, and vit E. It turned out awesome! Then a long hot bath.

I also did a gentle face scrub with the body balm and I used Utah Real Salt (most natural and nutritious salt on earth!). Salt can be kind of harsh but I have tried sugar and not been as pleased with the exfoliation as the salt plus sugar has no nutritional value for the skin and the Real Salt does Also a lip scrub with honey and brown sugar.

Then the fun part: a 1 1/2 hour full body massage. At least all the places I could reach myself. Hubby will have to do my shoulder blade areas tomorrow I like to use essential oils of geranium and lavender for body massage. Also hair is getting same oil treatment as the body, only used EO's of rosemary, lavender and sage for the hair/scalp. Then also soaking my scalp psoriasis with additional aloe vera and jojoba which really
do treat it and make it go away for a few days sometimes.

All of this will be followed up by a final long hot bath

Going to commit to doing this for myself maybe every 2 months. Can't afford the real spa, but a few hours every 2 months with stuff I already have should be doable!

I started doing daily weights, which has me a bit discouraged, but I am trying to stay positive. This diet is so dang easy that I am just internally scared that it can't possibly work. Not for an 80-pound loss like I want. But I am chugging along. I told my mom about it yesterday and I could see her holding her tongue, trying not to bash me. She is the type who never is hungry, has never been too overweight, and when she wants to lose 10-15 pounds, she just does. She has no cravings of any sort. So, there is no way to get her to understand. I keep trying to talk about insulin levels but she is diabetic and thinks she is an insulin expert and has "never heard of that" so I can't convince her with words, I have to convince her with proof. And now I am scared it wont work.

Hey LCAndrea! Please do stay positive, I love reading your posts.

Everyone is going to have an opinion on the topic of nutrition. Don't let one opinion change your thinking or get you scared or make you stop abruptly. I know when it's your mom's opinion it's a bit tougher. Keep at it and if things need to change down the road, no biggie, but you should decide if and when that happens.

You are doing great! I see you lost 5.7 lbs on CAD-----THAT'S AWESOME!

Remember there is no magic pill, or magic one size fits all approach to weight loss! That would be too easy. We are all working so hard at this!

The daily weights get me discouraged too, so I'm not sure that is the best plan for me. I'm chugging along too and liking the fact that I do not eat one single thing after dinner. (I'm not stuffing myself to the limit at dinner either.) CAD IS AMAZING

Just remember, no food is illegal. You just have to eat with good intention, timing, and in a different organized way.

Thanks 4myfuture. I don't plan on quitting at all. If nothing else, the feeling of not being hungry all the time is a huge relief to me since I was constantly starving to death (or so I thought). LOL. I have not been hungry after dinner either, and that is really awesome considering we eat early, around 4-ish, and I am totally fine all night. =) Also, I peaked back up into the 240s this morning and that made me sad, but then I waited a few hours and went back to 239.6, which made me feel a lot better. Now that i am in the 230s, I want to STAY in the 230s. Until I get to the 220s, that is! =)

Now that i am in the 230s, I want to STAY in the 230s. Until I get to the 220s, that is! =)
Don't let your mom OR the scale get inside your head! You are the expert on you and remember you are doing this diet/woe to feel good as well, not just weight loss. What other diet have you ever followed where you can eat the way you are now and feel so good and STILL lose weight? It's not like even being on a diet!!! If you are like me then you've done just about all of them only to end up fatter than ever and you suffered every minute on them.

I have a co-worker who is back on WW for the 4th time since I've known her. It's like she has forgotten all the other times. She knows what I am doing, why, etc and the science behind the insulin resistance and I can tell she still doesn't care or get it. I had a doctor tell me this woe is "Too complicated." What??? This is honestly like the easiest thing on planet earth! No pills to take, (well unless you want to), no diet productst to by, no meetings to attend. You are eating good solid protein and veggies, and regular every day food that you would always fall back to anyways if you were on any other type of diet. The beauty of CAD is that you never give up the foods you love, never have to count a cal/carb/gram ever and feel in total control. Your body tells you when you are hungry and that's about it. The rest falls into place.

Don't let your mom or the scale psych you into giving up on this. Just because the weight loss is slow is the point. It is not messing with your metabolism and you are not going into starvation mode. Yes, weight comes off a lot faster, but you are also miserable the entire time on calorie restrictive regimens. Plus it really messes up your hormonal balance as I have learned to go back to that sort of thing. Your skin will shrink and respond better to slow weight loss, you'll feel better, and just think of this woe as not even really being on a diet, but you just happen to be losing weight!

I want you to know there are actually folks out there who had to go back up on eating CM's and snacks because they kept on losing past their goal weights! It really does happen

NO KIDDING. That would be the best day ever. I actually made a weight averaging chart on my computer and it actually says that I will "probably" be at goal by the end of the year. LOL. I have never been so daring as to hope.
