beautiful avatar Beverly--how very pretty you are!

I can't deal with liver, so I take uniliver pills that I ordered from netrition. grassfed beef liver. I take 7/day. They are as big as horsepills and a bit of a challenge to swallow, but I feel better when I take them.

No, not a lot of weight, but I quit going the wrong way and I don't bounce like I used to. I bounced up 6 lbs after valentines and I thought it would not go away. It is leaving and hopefully, I can keep seeing more weight go with it. I will weigh on Sat and let you know if this seems to be a good thing or not. So, do you think the cals are too low??? I feel like 1200 is really where I should be, but then I am trying to listen to my hunger signals. It is so confusing.

Yes, I am going to do a tater hack along the way too. I think since I love my broth so much, I will just do taters and broth during the week next week and see where that takes me? I may throw in 3 egg yolks for breakfast and then nothing but taters.

the absence of hunger and craving is what keeps me on PHD. I have never experienced anything like this. I wish I were losing weight--I need to get back on the tater hack--I can't do JUDDD anymore--deprivation triggers me, altho perhaps it wouldn't if I were doing PHD DD's or tater DD's. I just am happy that my hunger is so under control with this. It is so remarkable.

Totally my darling Sunday, Totally. Maybe for the first time in my life.

My staples every day:

seaweed
brazil nuts (2)
liver pills
bone broth
taters and japanese sweet taters
broccoli/cauli/brussel sprout mix (with my taters and bone broth)
kale spinach berry smoothy
eggyolks
lemon/turmeric hot tea
99% cacao
hot almond milk chai

couple times a week--I am not fond of meat anymore!
smoked oysters in olive oil
wild caught salmon
a little grassfed beef
turkey
one of my "better than flour" creations

and that is pretty much it unless we go out for dinner. I am probably averaging from 1100 to 1500 calories and at least 4 days of exercise. However I am old, hypothyroid, and suffering from other autoimmune conditions

Thank you Ouiz. That is an idea about the pills. I could do that too if I can swallow them. 7-yikes!!

I thought I read something about getting a minimum of 1200 somewhere in his Q and A section, but I can't swear to it. But like you, I don't want to force calories. I also don't want to go too low that my body holds onto the fat either. It is a conundrum.

This is my same situation. The absence of nagging hunger is a huge blessing.

Thanks for that list. I am surprised at how similar some of my things are. I take two brazil nuts a day as well although mine are chocolate covered. I also love my hot almond milk chai with turmeric. I am also eating the wild salmon and grassfed beef. Bone broth and taters too. I can't do the oysters or liver, so I might go the pill route. Thanks for the suggestion. Ummmm Ouiz, you sure don't look old!!

Me too! In fact, I have contemplated flying to Atlanta to see a specialist about my hypo and bio-identical hormones. First, though, I want to see what health benefits I notice from PHD and it may very well be enough to see me through this horrible menopausal time period.

I mean I have only been drinking broth & PHDing for a month and a half regularly. What a wonderful turn I am noticing this far!

I eat from the same list, but throw in tilapia & shrimp & dark chocolate daily.

I notice something very interesting. I used to be a protein craver and lived on meat & eggs. I have completely lost all desire for protein.
Is it the supplementation of liver?

It might be something else because it happened to me too and I am not doing the liver.
I did add in shrimp and scallops. I still need to be a bit careful with the dark chocolate, unless I make my own, as the sugar can trigger me to eat a whole bar instead of a couple of pieces.

Wow, this is a list of my favorites, except that I still love chicken instead of turkey. I have an embarrassing stash of smoked oysters due to ordering a box online, and brazil nuts - I don't know anyone but me that likes these!

I only recently discoverd I love brussels sprouts boiled! I roasted them first out of fear . I keep an embarassing stock of cauliflower to mash

Grass-fed hamburger for meatballs, and oh my gosh, the QFC sales of wild-caught king salmon makes me so happy!

Love berry smoothes (I have dropped egg yolks in these - 3 yolks per day somehow my goal); kale was a little bitter in it. I love kale salads with balsamic dressing.

My favorite seaweed snacks are the ones made with sesame oil - probably not ideal but so tasty.

I haven't seen tumeric lemon tea! I must try this!

I have purchased the uniliver liver pills - they are so big. Has anyone found something smaller?

KeyTones, I would love to put yolks in my green smoothie. I am so fearful of eating raw eggs. My daily drink consists of coconut milk, kefir, 20 blueberries, 1/2 apple, pumpkin puree, kale, spinach, & cukes w/ 1/8 tsp of gluc. It is so filling and unbelievably refreshing.

I just turned 58 ;(

I boil turmeric powder, black pepper and a little water to make a paste. I add a smidgen to lemon juice, hot water and a couple of drops of stevia to make an antiinflammatory tea.

I buy my chocolate at world market. 99% cacao and no sugar. I love it. One square is heaven to me.

I think the addition of potatoes has killed my need for protein. I don't know why. Maybe because they have protein? So strange!

I was thinking this same thing. I used to be nearly zero carb, eating lots of protein and fat almost exclusively.

Boy, has that changed! With incorporating safe starches, I only eat smallish portions of meat. Such as a can of Wild Planet sardines in EVOO and lemon! I never really liked sardines before, but these are incredibly tasty to me! I have fallen love with them!

I agree - potatoes seems to kill cravings for everything, at least for me.

Did you all see Rochester's post about chicken broth curing his constipation? I remember him posting endlessly about constipation a couple of years ago, LOL (he is intentionally funny). I didnt' know about the constipation cure element.

Does anyone believe that by adding gluc to my smoothie, may keep me from absorbing all of the nutrients? Just pondering the goodness of this drink?

I eat lots of Bubbies kraut and pickles.

I just put up some vegetables to ferment in half-gallon mason jars. I followed Jaminet's recommendations. I have one jar of cabbage, and one with cauliflower, carrot, red pepper, garlic, and some jalepenos.

I found another recommendation that I incorporated as well (forget where I saw it). I put liquid coconut oil on top before putting the wrap and lids on. It turned solid and created a seal.

They're sitting in a cool, dark closet. I can't wait to see what I end up with!

Blue, I am another Bubbies addict.

I am anxious to start fermenting veggies. Did you order a starter? Or just use one from another fermentation? Would love to know your process!

I am a Bubbie's fan too! I will have to look at Jaminet's recommendations. I do lacto-fermentation of my veges also in half-gallon jars. The stuff is purely addictive!! I was putting a cabbage leaf on top of my jar but I LOVE the idea of putting liquid coconut oil on to seal it. That is a FANTASTIC idea!

Do you make water kefir too? That is my favorite. I the carbonated results and my body craves the stuff. It was causing me some gas in the beginning, but my body has now adapted to it.

You look great for 58, or really, for any age. Know what I love best about my potatoes? Aside from the weight loss of course, my WALLET loves this diet

It truly is remarkable how the urges go away. I was looking at some chips earlier in the lunch room, moved the bag to get behind it (for a k-cup for my keurig) no urge to open said bag and dive in. Amazing!

Love you guys!

This is a really simple procedure – mix salt, water, and vegetables with a few spices; leave in a cool, dark sealed container for 7-10 days; eat. Source: Jaminet
And here's the mention about the coconut oil:
Quote:
Are Mason Jar Ferments Safe?
. . . [I]f you really really want an anaerobic environment, just do it the old-fashioned way and pour a thin layer of olive oil or coconut oil over the top of your ferment. The oil top layer will keep oxygen off the ferment’s surface. When you’re ready to eat the ferment, the coconut oil layer will pop right off as a solid, removable hunk as long as the temperature is below 76F. If you use olive oil over something like a fermented salsa, you can just mix it right into the ferment for added flavor. Source: Food Renegade

I did add in shrimp and scallops. I still need to be a bit careful with the dark chocolate, unless I make my own, as the sugar can trigger me to eat a whole bar instead of a couple of pieces.
Beverly, right there with you on the white devil (sugar!) trigger--I was just in Trader Joe's today and snapped up a sugar free dark chocolate bar (called Simply Lite) they had at the check-out, sweetened with maltitol, haven't tried it yet but having high hopes! It's not super dark chocolate, though...I also saw a stevia sweetened brand at my local Thriftway but too pricey for my blood, 5 bucks for 3 ounces.

I just got the PHD book but am skipping to the cliff notes by asking you guys: what's their stance on baking with gluten replacements like coconut flour or rice flour? I've been PHDing and not losing, even gained a couple, and I suspect I may have to dump my little gf treats, sigh...
