Just dropping in to say hello!

To the new M/E fasters...I can't really give any advise, but I'm sure the more seasoned fasters will have the right answers

Lori...You are doing great! Holding steady in those 170s!

Cindy...I am right there with you I actually completely changed my diet to see if I can make the scale move in the RIGHT direction again. I lost 90 pounds on eating plenty of fresh produce and 2-3 servings of lean meat a day and this is the way I think I am trying to go again. Have you looked into JUDDD? This might be something you could try? I lost 30 of the 90 pounds on JUDDD!

Mamia: In general a good rule of thumb is 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight.. Your metabolism has to work harder to break down and digest the protein. Fat is your friend
There are a number of ways to eat GOOD Fat too!

I don't count calories... WAY TOO MUCH EFFORT for this girl!

For breakfast I have 1 cup of coffe with a Spenda (with fiber), Teaspoon of Coconut oil and 1 or 2 tbsp of heavy cream... believe it or not this fills me up all morning.

I just had 4 eggs with hot sauce for lunch...

I'll probably have a protein shake around 3pm for a snack

another round of eggs or lean meat for dinner

then another shake depending on if I am hungry or not.

I was at 138 this morning with TOM So I'm hoping to be under 135 by Monday!

so, that would be 135 grams of protein?if I weight 135.so is that to lose?. that is a lot of protein. From what I have read, that would be turned to glucose then insulin would come to the party..not good.
No way would I be filled up all morning with that BK you have there BethM.
To me it still looks like your fat is way too low?

WHAT IS JUDDD?

Lori- my first experience with LC was after my first child 10 yrs ago. I only low carb when I need to drop weight. I usually am a runner and I love my carbs! When I run, I really do not have to worry about what I eat and I generally maintain a semi muscular 127 lb/ 5'3" physiquie. But with my knee and hip problems I've been more sedentary and found myself at 143 lbs. So here I am back to Lc.
I lost 5 lbs last week.
This week I am adding in my Slim in 6 Burn it Up dvd.
I did it this morning and Wow, its amazing how such simple moves can make your muscles so spent!
My Fiance is big into bodybuilding and is trying to convert me from a 'Runner' to a 'weightlifter', which would require a more disciplined - low carb- eating regiment.... but I am considering it!

MaMia - I use an online tracker to log all of my intake. My morning "fat" coffee as I call it, my eggs and my shake I have had so far today amount to 700 calories, 39 grams of fat, 3 carbs and 84 grams of protein.. On a pie chart.. thats about 50% fat, 48% protein and 2% carbs. I am trying to drop weight and keep my muscle so I make sure my protein is sufficient. It still an elevated fat percentage too.
P.s - No matter what you read, your body is still your own and will respond differently to things than others will. Once you figure out how your body handles different levels of fats and proteins, you can tweak it from there.
This is the level I function best at without bonking when I'm tyring to drop weight.
So overall, (since I still have to consume another shake and another protein meal) .. I'll be somewhere around 1200-1300 calories for the day.
My BMR is 1296 (Basal Metabolic Rate)(Calories needed just to sustain life)
My TDEE is 1556 (Total daily Energy Expeniture-sedentary level)
Plus I did a work out DVD
So I'm well under my limit for calories too...

I also take Osteo-Flex and a Multi daily.

Thats my Recipe!

Thank you Bethm..How do you calculate your BMR? I would like to know that as well.
For me that is too much protein, not that I wouldnt love to eat that much.I cant do the shakes and all, been there done that.I lost 15 lbs last year doing ultra low carb and high fat, my protein was between 35 and 65 a day, I lost easily over about 2 months.
I have done a modified Fat Fast as well, a little harder to do food wise.I walk/run 3 days a week. plus other chores here on the ranch. My calories to lose seem to be working at 1200 to 1300,but I would like to know exactly what I am using.

Beth - You can low carb and run, you just have to give your body about 4 weeks to adapt to low carb fueling.

There are a couple of articles about ultrarunners and low carbing as well as some posts on this forum about adapting to low carb workouts/running. You should check it out.

Thanks for the support Tina!

I weighed 170 today and am still on the M & E. I'll be doing this for a few more days at least, I think. The lowest I've ever been was 164 so I'm itching to see some Uncharted Territory!

HI can I join in here with the M&E fast.

I have been doing low carb. again and really having a hard time getting my weight off. I think I'm over eating flax meal & cream cheese treats.

So today I weigh in at 188.5 and would like to see 165 some time again in my life. I'm 57 and losing is getting harder with each year.

one question: can I eat cheese, or is it only meat & eggs?
Example: McDonalds double cheese with out the bun will that be OK?

Welcome, Shapeup!!

Some people seem to be OK with a limited amount of cheese and others not so much. I'm one of the ones who seem to stall with cheese (Noooo!!!!! ;_; ) So I'd say go ahead and see for yourself. You never know 'til you try, right?? Try a week with and another week without.

I'm up to 173 today and was crushed and infuriated. So I had some tomatoes and cheddar in my ground beef as a form of Notice of Official Disagreement against my body's act of gaining.

Now I regret that. But I really thought I'd see 169 soon, but nope. Looks like I'll flip flop between 170 & 175 for at least another week. Maybe it's the HWC? 1 tbsp a day? or is it the 1 splenda packet? Anyone think this is possible?

Yesterday went OK until 7pm, then I ate a Atkins snack bar, then 40 almonds, then a hand full of choc. covered peanuts.

But the scale was down to 186.5 this AM .

Today I was good so far, 2 eggs & bacon , 2 double cheese no bun at McD's
bacon and a flax meal pancake for supper.
