How do ya'll plan on maintaining once you get to your goal, if that's your intention? I'm interested to watch, to see how things go for all of you.
I'm doing this system every other day, which is the Jay Robb "Fat Burning Diet". I'm considering doing more M/E days in a row, but the inevitable gain keeps me from jumping on your bang wagon. (I'm currently still trying to get my Christmas weight gain off. Just 1 pound to go!) Yes, this seems to take the weight off, but how are you going to KEEP it off in the long term?

Joanne...NO biggie! It's just a little extra water you are holding onto!
Becky...Congratulations on meeting your goal!! Dang straight we gonna look good!!! Jeneric...Hiya!!! You are very right to be concerned about the maintaining thing, and I do know that M/E fasts are not a way of eating/ living! I started my weightloss journey in December of 2011 and have lost over 90 pounds on low carbing and eating mostly clean, meats, fish, eggs, jogurt, nuts, tons of fruits and veggies, cut out most processed foods and all refined carbs/sugars. My goal was to fit comfortably into a size 12 pants, after fitting into a size 10 I reset my goal to 170 lbs wich I reached on September 1st (at a size 6-8), and have been maintaining it since, granted I "gained" weight on special occasions, but after those days it's right back on the program for me! I also got a little looser with my food intake, allowed myself ANYTHING I wanted for a day, of even days at a time! Of course it is unevitable to put on a few pounds with extra sodium and carbs, the combination of the two KILLS me, but I have found this M/E fast to be a very helpful tool to flush that extra water back out, not a WOE or life but a tool to correct those little slipups! Right now I see how long I enjoy eating like this and take it day by day, after I get tired of my eggs and meat I am already prepared for macro cycling, meaning I will alternate low carb days with higher carb days, adding in healthy carbs like oatmeal, sweet potatos, rye bread, low sugar fruit and veggies for a start, and if that doesn't work, there is always a week of M/E fast to correct!! I did also checked into the Jay Robb, Chris Powell programs, but have decided to go with Wendy Chant, just waiting for my book to arrive! Basically I have already completed her phase one of the program wich is carb depletion, after this it's adding in healthy carbs! Last edited by Erika1962; 01-01-2013 at 09:58 AM.. Thanks, Erika! You caused me to chase down another diet trail. lol Now that diet intrigues me! I've ordered the book from my library, so we'll see.
![]() I don't know about anyone else, but I love to look at everyone's stats. When I hear about a new-to-me diet, I check out the posters' stats to see if many of them have lost much weight and/or kept it off. Sadly, most don't seem to lose much weight, at least from their statistics. I suppose that's why there aren't many posts in the "Maintain Lane" thread. ![]() I don't believe that "the best diet is the one you'll stick to". That's simply not true! After I lost 12 pounds on CAD, I stuck with that diet for an entire year, with no additional loss. A friend of mine also had the same experience with that diet. JUDDD worked great for a few months, then quit, so I had to implement VLC in the equation. Even with that, I'm really only able to maintain. The losses have stopped. It's not so easy to stick with that regimen when you're not consistently losing anymore.Everyone's body is different, and what will work for one, doesn't necessarily work for everyone. Thus, my search to find the diet that'll work for me, but always at my mind's forefront is the inevitable maintaining involved in dieting. I do know that for my body, low carb is the absolute only method of weight loss, in one shape or form. I also know that I must trick my body to keep it from slowing its metabolism. But for me, one of the very bottom lines is, that I'm not willing to live in starvation mode. So, whatever diet I'm currently working with is, in my mind, a permanent woe. Otherwise, it's not worth it to me. (I don't have any health problems caused by my weight, so I know it's easy for me to say.) I've lost 51 pounds, and I have a whole lot more to lose, even beyond my first goal. I am excited about implementing M/E in my diet, as it a very tolerable method of keeping my weight stable. I've been doing it every other day, and it's been a God send. Last edited by jenericstewart; 01-01-2013 at 11:10 AM.. |

Jeneric...I'm glad I could help LOL. On a serious note, like you I know the only way for me to lose and keep off the weight is low carb, and it's hard because I could live of bread and bisquits alone! My honey made some cheddar stuffed bisquits for breakfast today, I wanted to kill him! Threatened I would lick them all
JUDDD was wonderful for me when I first started it, I dropped 12 pounds my first month, and that after already dieting for several months, so it wasn't any water weight! I still lost after the first month, just not as much, still at a good rate though. Several months into it though I developed a severe binging problem, I did fine on my DD's but was totally out of control on my UD's. I had to stop and try eating around the same calories each day to calm my body down, and even though I still have my days, they are not 3-4 of them a week! I guess it's all biology, body trying to fatten up for the winter, plus a lot of weight lost, body is trying to prevent from starving... Right now I'm just happy maintaing the loss and I'm trying to find a WOE that lets me just do that, if I lose a couple of pounds along the way I won't be mad though! LOL. I hope Wendy's program can do that, there is actually a thread on here if you haven't found it yet! There is a lot of information in there, that's what got me curious in the first place, then I researched the book and read the reviews...ordered the book...I will give this a try for sure! From what I see they don't even count calories, just stay within the specified allowed food groups for the day! And I been tracking EVERY bite for a year! |

look at this board blowing up!! I love it!! You guys are kicking some major butts!! ![]() First off I want to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I had a great time...we went out for a prime rib roast buffet and all I had was the roast and squash and only drank diet pop We went back to a friends after the bar and she made all this "CRAP"(chips, mozza sticks, sausage rolls, honey garlic wings) ...nothing that was good for me so I had a diet pop I am not craving sweets anymore (took 2 days) BUT I could't get my hand out of the nuts container last night...so now they are gone hopefully I will get back to dropping weight ![]() It great to have my stomach back to feeling normal again Man oh man it felt like I had the flu eating those little bit of sweets I had!! So not worth it and I hope I remember that feeling the next time I am weak Glad to see everyone is back on the wagon and doing great

![]() I'm glad you brought this up, it really shows that everyone is so different. I think it's hard finding the best way of eating for yourself! It took me years, and of that was about 3 years of low carbing to find the right combination for me. Very strict low carb helped me slowly get down to about 145, then I started adding fruits and other healthy carbs in and continued to lose. THEN "life" came at me with some unexpected trama and I ate very unhealthy for about 5or 6 months, did ok with weight until about the 5th month and started to gain. I reached about 155 before I had enough and took action. I started back on strick low carb and logged everything I ate, then did low carb high fat and started to see a slow loss. I think I lost about 5lbs in 2 1/2 months. I was frustrated because I was trying so hard and didn't feel good, no energy. So I started the M&E fast and stopped logging what I ate, I ate as much as I wanted at any time I wanted and the weight started to quickly drop. I did it for over a month and had tons of energy. I actually look at it as a WOE for life (for me) I feel great and don't feel deprived! around christmas I got a lil crazy with the fudge and goodies, but my metabolism was in high gear so I burned thru it. So as far as maintaining after the M&E, maybe it's too early to tell for me, but I got down to goal and have continued to lose (even while eating bad ) I'm around 135 right now. I'm confident I've found my sweet spot! I now plan on exercising, then I'll probably see a healthy spike in weight which I am totally content with. |

Thanks for all of the responses to my statements. I appreciate them.
I have a question for those who've lost more than 50 pounds on low carbs...have you found that you're losing weight with M & E because your calorie count is so low, which is made easier by no carbs, or do you think you actually burn more calories with M & E than you would eating more carbs? Or is it a combination of the two? (I've seen people on dieting boards insist that the reason LC works is because you're consuming fewer calories.) Some of your menus for the day sure seem awfully low calorie to me. ![]() Becky, what is your diet plan once you reach your goal, for maintenance? Erika, up until JUDDD, how did you lose the previous weight? I know it was lower carbs, but how low? Which diet method. By the way, I'm amazed you can wear a size 6 at your weight. In my early 20's, I got down to 160 lbs, and I squeezed into a size 14. You must be solid. Oceana, keeping M & E as a woe is what I'm considering, because I will never ever be able to eat like a normal person. The more weight I lose the more obvious that seems to me, but trying to figure out a plan that I can live with is where I'm at right now. I'm thinking maybe continuing to do M & E on a rotating/weekly basis, with maybe a couple of "normal" days (healthy though). Now that Christmas/New Years is over, I'm on my second M & E day. I'm planning on just doing 3 days for my first try. I'm nervous about trying it for a month because I'm afraid of the weight gain. Also, I have lost 51 pounds over the last 7 months, so my husband really wants me to stabilize for awhile and try to hold it. There's really no hurry, though I like to think so. lol (At Christmas I put on 8 pounds, and my husband was shocked. He wondered how in the world I did that because I really didn't overeat. I told him that's par for the course after losing weight.) Last edited by jenericstewart; 01-02-2013 at 01:15 PM.. |

Good evening! Fell off the wagon yesterday so I was too disgusted to log in here this am...sigh, but brushing myself off and climbing back on!!! Suspect TOM on horizon too
![]() 01/01--168.6 01/02--171.8...2 bisquits and 1 truffle, 1 liter diet soda in the middle of night ![]() todays menu B--coffee, green tea L--boiled eggs D--pork shoulder Joanne... nice drop there! I usually retain about 7-8 lbs from one china buffet trip! Becky...a loss is a loss! Cindy...beautiful new pic! Jeneric...I started off doing low carb and VERY low calorie. I started December 5, 2011 at 260 pounds and dropped to 200 in less than 4 months. I ate the same foods every day. Chicken breast, lean ground beef, white fish, shrimp, tons of lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, cabbage, greek yogurt, may be an apple or an orange, drink a gallon of water a day, my calorie intake was only between 750 and 1000 calories, amazingly enough I never cheated, and having consistent losses every week kept me going, I guess I was desperate enough to lose the weight. I do have to add that before I found/ started JUDDD I had upped my calorie intake, I went up slowly by 200 every few days til I was up around 2000, mind you the upping made me drop almost 6 pounds the first week, and more the second. Then I gave JUDDD a trial month and lost 11 or 12 pounds in that month, so I was hooked on that, until I realized that I have developed a very unhealthy relationship with food, had to stop, at least for now until I get control of whatever has possessed me. I have to laugh at the size 6, or even the 8, in my mind it is not possible that I wear this size, it just isn't. I strongly think that the sizes have changed over the years, or may be the sew in the wrong labels?? Medium tops?? I have NEVER worn a medium top, not even in highschool! ![]() Last edited by Erika1962; 01-02-2013 at 02:51 PM.. |

Hey y'all I'm joining in !!!!!
2 years ago I did eggs and meat and lost 20 lbs in 2 months My skin was fabulous. I felt great and a lot of energy. Since I stopped I broke out again and a complete binge mess! Ahh cannot live like this. Plus I don't crave carbs when im on meat and eggs and never hungry provided i drink my water ofcourse That's my only weakness getting in the waters can't drink it without the crystal light! But whatever it takes... As long as I'm under 10 carbs, ill be ok! Haven't weighed myself lately just because i had major binge episodes during the holidays. but again my goal is 10 lbs by the end of jan Doing great everyone while eating the delicious foods !! |

After doing more reading on vitamins I firmly believe that this is my problem exactly! Started taking my supplements religiously again! I also checked into the L-Glutamin, it supposed to take food cravings away, I will get me some of that next time I'm out and about! I also have/had the problem with hairloss, I take a 5000 mg softgel for that every day, works wonders! Trigger...nice loss!! Leangirl...welcome!!! the more the merrier!! |

I did a good job staying on plan yesterday. I did not have the breakfast sausages. I did have about 1/2 cup of broccoli cauliflower salad with my lunch and a salsa/sour cream dip with my pork rinds. So my menu ended up being something more like:
B: Coffee, CO & Splenda S: (nothing - didn't eat these: 2 pork sausage links) L: 6 oz Pork chop, 1/2 cup broccoli cauliflower salad S: pork rinds w/salsa/sour cream dip D: Pork roast w 1 T barbecue sauce 10 - 8 oz glasses of water 1/2: 185.2 SW - 1/3: 183.6 Today's Plan: B: Coffee w/ 2 T HWC, 1 T CO, and 2 splenda S: 2 pork sausage links L: maybe wings, maybe tuna w/ mayo and pork rinds D: pork roast or hamburger maybe w/fried eggs Lots of water!!
