CRAZY QUESTION......WW and LC?!?!?

Hi everyone,

I followed Atkins LC years ago and was very successful. Then my system changed, and I cannot eat all of those fattier cuts of food, which is what made weightloss attainable and enjoyable with Atkins. When I cut out the fat on LC, I get too hungry and I don't find it satisfying.

I am back on Weight Watchers, trying to lose..........and I noticed some people talking about doing a more low-carb version while on WW. If you are doing this, would you share what you are eating, and if you are still incorporating the required 2-3 milk servings, etc.....into your diet?

I know that it is important to get all the GHG's in each day (oils, milks, whole grains, etc.....) so I am trying to figure out whether or not anyone is finding success by going more LC while on WW? And if so, do you only eat whole grains in the morning, and then stick with low-carb the remainder of the day?

Please share......

I apologize I don't have an answer to your question although I am interested in the answer since I have family that does WW.

I wanted to ask you about the fatty meat thing though. Are you okay with other sources of fat?

Like coconut oil or olive oil or butter etc?

Sure a well marbled steak is tasty but there is no reason you couldn't do super lean cuts of meat and add your own 'safe' fat to it or have it separately with fat bombs or some such.

Yeah..........that is a thought! I do okay with flax oil, olive oil and canola oil......but I only do 2 tspns total for the entire day.

I really love low-carb and wish I could do it..................(but the reason I liked it was because I could eat bacon, or delmonico steaks, or put butter on my veggies, or eat the chicken with the skin,.............etc., ..........all of the benefits of this diet) and I would lose so beautifully back then!

Then my system changed. The doctor said it is as if my body will not process the fats efficiently enough, causing my system to store it as fat. I was keeping my carbs lower and lower, and yet I was gaining and gaining. So something definitely happened to my digestive system that it is being so stubborn. And I was gaining while working out on average 5-6 days a week! That's when I knew something was wrong!

I followed the LC plan EXACTLY as I had 15 years ago when I lost 70 pounds in about 6-7 months; but THIS TIME, I gained weight instead! I love eating low carb because the flavor is so wonderful (because of the fat in the foods.......that's what gives food the flavor)! So this is very frustrating!

I am trying to find what works for me. I do like weight watchers (for the variety of the foods), but it is not as rewarding as low-carb used to be. I got so spoiled with the wonderful weight loss I experienced with LC.

You might find the answers to your questions on the weight watcher points plus threads. This is where several are trying to mix up the two. Good luck!

Hmmmm.

Did she check you for celiac? Or Crohn's? Probably not Crohn's since the symptoms are pretty severe and hard to miss. Celiac on the other hand can have symptoms that don't make you think 'hey that made me sick'.

Have you looked into JUDDD? It isn't LC but some people are really, really successful with it.

And, like WW, you can have anything you want. Actually, it is better than WW in that respect. Not complicated either.

Take a look here: WW and LC....Can they coexist?

Sorry to say that I'm a dropout, but several were losing great doing a LC version of WW. That thread has a wealth of information in it...PP counts for lots of LC foods and things like that. Recipe and menu ideas.

Hope that helps!

Thank you everyone for all of the valuable information. I will check all those things out.

As for celiac, I was tested years ago.......and it was negative. The funny thing about it, is that I don't feel sick or feel badly with ANY foods...........I just can't seem to lose weight. It is so weird. I feel fantastic no matter what I eat.........no bloating, no gas, no cramping, no pains, no headaches, no issues at all...............and I work out like a crazy woman (even though I am 52 years old..............I was even doing Insanity!..........and NOT losing a pound!) It's crazy, right?

I will check out that JUDDD and see what that is all about. Thanks everyone!
