Wow, August already!!

Lenise - me too, I'm at 198.2 this morning. And 5'8" but heavy-boned! Today is a Protein Day!

Iam - funny about your scale, it must have been a real What the Heck Moment!

How's everyone doing? I'm still loving the Dukan plan!

Gosh, I caught a bad summer cold so not a happy camper at the moment. DH and I are heading out to Ohio this weekend for my 40th high school reunion... worried that I will feel lousy..argghhh! Planning in my head what protein items I will put in a cooler for the drive on Friday.....it will be a Protein Day...

Have a good one everyone, and don't catch my cold!

Dukan adapts itself so well to travel... so easy to pack HB (Honey Badger) eggs, cheese sticks, beef jerkey, tuna pouches, greek yogurt in a cooler, chicken breast in baggies...

And then the restaurants.... steak & vegies, chicken & vegies... omlets....you get the idea....

Fast food salads with some kind of meat on them & a squeeze of lemon juice (in a packet you brought in)... burgers with out the bun.... baked fish at the fish places.... etc

Happy traveling everyone!

BTW since I started making/drinking milk kefir & kombucha I have NOT had a even so much of a cold... I drink prolly a gallon of some kind of ferments a week. If you are not adding ferments to your eating plan they do fit as almost all are LC.

I really liked the alkaline batteries in my scale.... maybe I should keep them....
Maybe next week I will have real batteries til then I will keep

Yay!! August!
Faithful lol on the scale too funny! I weighed in at 174.2 today almost 174!! When that happens I'll change my stats I've decided not to change it until I am in the whole numbers as far as lbs. I have been eating a few bites off plan and still losing! I can't believe it!! I love this diet! It's changing something in me. I've never been able to eat just a few bites of anything. I told myself if I stay on plan 95% of the time the other 5% won't matter. So far this has been true. If I plateau then I will not stray from plan at all. Does anyone else go off plan occasionally and still see the number on the scale go down?

If you look at the links on the first post here you will get lots of info.

Basically it is lower fat, higher protrin, limited carbs. Has 4 phases that prepare the body for a lifetime of success. Hope this helps.

Hi gals,

Welcome Purrcy'smom!

Iam- thanks for the food travel tips. We are stopping ONLY for gas, coffee and pee! We will be like a NASCAR pit crew. QUICK!

Meek - saw your other thread and hope your health issues are surmountable,

Yes, I went slightly off-plan last Friday when we had folks over for cookout..my indiscretions usually cost me 3-4 days of catch-up so there you go. Getting back on Dukan is easy..been good since Sat.....

Later all,
Nancy

Yoday GS was washing dishes (age 10) he said "I hate doing dishes!" to which I replied, "I was your age and said the exact same thing to which my father replied, 'You may as well get used to it cause you will be doing it for the next 60 years.' " He did not take it well.... However, Dad was correct.... it has been 56 years & I am still washing them....

I hope the night actually goes well for you. Hate any job when it is understaffed.... take care.

portcop01 I am actually on a computer and can better answer you now. Dukan has been in the states about a year... was quite the rage in England during the Royal Wedding. There are 4 phases the first being a short stent of just pure protein & low fat... Oat brand (which has some carbs but are permitted/required) is eaten every day & does wonderful things in your body. The second stage is rotating days of pure protein & a day of protein & vegies. Carbs are allowed only in the dairy (which is low fat) and the oat brand. The carbs in the over 100 permitted vegies are not counted. Potatoes, rice, grains, nuts are not included in this eating plan until much later. Dukan allows for a celebration meal once a week on stage 3 and builds you to eat normally in stage 4. One of the interesting things is on this plan your want to's change so by the time you get to stage four your desires for your old way of eating are pretty much gone. Hope you look at it & decide to give it a try! You can see on last months thread (in the 1st post) some have had wonderful success and there are some of us that a year later are eating our new normal and have kept the weight off. Good luck in your efforts & feel free to join our journey....

Hi Ladies...

Lenise - WOW, great job, soon you will be in the next "decade" down!

IamFaithful - thanks for those recipes!

And hello to everyone.......

So I went to my 40th high school reunion last weekend in Ohio, and yup, I must say I rocked it and was loooooooooookin' gooooood! Even hubby was like "wow" as I had put together a pretty cool outfit to wear. Got lots of compliments and glad I made the effort. Felt a million times more confident and loads of self-esteem vs. 5 years ago at the last reunion. Sang "Twist and Shout" with the band so yeah, I'm back to my old party-girl-inner-child, ha ha.

Went off the wagon a wee bit in the beer department, but back in the saddle now.
Haven't weighed yet, will do tomorrow. Protein day today....

Great sounding dip recipe!

Live Free, glad to hear you were feeling so positive at the reunion. Nice to know you're looking good isn't it?

I'm hanging in there with the consolidation. Weight up and down a few pounds from time to time, but only saw the 150 number once in the last few months. Mostly staying around 147. I'm experimenting with some rice tortillas in place of the bread, but don't think I'll buy them again. Too tempting to have in the house for me.

Keep up the good work everyone!

Mom's doing about as well as can be expected. Thanks for asking.

Just found a new product at Walmart that I like. Crown Prince sardines in foil pkgs with no salt added. Never have liked the canned sardines, but these were great in a salad tonight. I added lots of lemon juice, Lawrey's salt free seasoning and a TB of salsa to make a dressing. Also added a chopped avocado since I'm on consolidation. The pkg. has 70 calories, 16 gm of protein,1 gm of fat and no carbs. Lots of good Omega 3 fats too. If you haven't tried them, they are a low cost protein and easy to stick in your bag if you're out shopping, then use to top a salad. They might be good made into sardine patties too by mixing with the oat bran, an egg, some chp. celery and seasonings. I make salmon and tuna patties that way.

Weather if finally cooling down a little here, so back to walking more. Hope everyone is doing well.

Susan, thanks for the heads up! I saw these & looked them over but didn't buy them...now I will... Good amount of protein for the price! I am going into town today & will put these on my list.

Still no scale, batteries dead & I like it that way.... Have a dr appt today so I will there... I was up over 170 with all the pizza & mac n' cheese around...just a bite here & there added up... so I went hard core the past 2 weeks with the scale down... I feel like things are down....

Big hugs everyone!

Happy Monday morning ladies!

Paranoid, congrats on getting in to the 160s!

Stilldews - I hear ya on having stuff in the house...too tempting! I've had DH hide stuff on me in his man cave!

I was wondering what is recommended for after one goes off the wagon? Repeat the Attack phase or just settle back in to 1 day PP, 1 day PV alternating? Had a few beers at an outdoor event on Saturday. Did well food-wise though and was clean eating yesterday on PV. Plan to buckle down this week! Today is all protein.

Good luck with your appt. I always weigh at least 5 pounds more on the Dr's scale but at least you can compare it to what you were last time you had an appointment. I've started using Myfittness pal again to track what I'm eating for a few weeks. So far I seem to be averaging about 1300-1400 calories a day with about 50 gm total carbs, but about 20 of those are fiber. This seems to be what I'm maintaining on. I think tracking is making me a little more aware of the little bites I take and keeps me from doing it without thinking. The longer I stay at the weight I'm at, the more I'm aware of the fact that I still have about 15 pounds I'd like to see go. Thinking about cutting the carbs and fat again in Oct and through the holidays so that instead of gaining over that dangeoustime, I'll hopefully be able to take a few more pounds off.

Hello. Just checking in. Seems like everyone is doing well still. I am on Cruise right now and I'm loving it. My goal is 5-8 pounds per month. Do you all think this is doable? I would like to lose a total of 25 pounds by the end of the year, God willing .

Keep up the good work, Dukaniestas .
