Lost 1.25 this week and won loser of the month for July! Members are starting to ask me lots of questions about low carb now! Got my 10 pound bracelet tonight and a scale charm to attach to it. Leader said she was not sure when the next charm was awarded. Does anyone know what the next charm will be and when it is awarded?

Congrats Jeanie! Each chapter chooses what and when they give the charms. At our chapter we give the bracelet for the first 10 lb. loss and then a charm (they get to choose from all that we have) for each 10 lb. loss after that.

We give out charms every 10 lbs. Also, halfway to goal charm, weight loss after a vacation and certain holidays, charm for weight loss for 10 weeks in a row, and 6 month perfect attendance. There is also one if you bring a friend who joins the group. There might be others. I'm not sure why your leader didn't know when you'd get your next charm...how long has she been a leader? It should be stated in your bylaws...if you didn't get the bylaws please ask for them. It is very helpful to read.

So, we ended up awarding the woman the next 10lb charm even though she probably already has all the charms since she was formally a KOPS. If it was me I would never have asked for it (but that's just me I guess). She actually doesn't have much to lose to get back to her goal but she's has had some health problems so is holding steady at a certain weight. I think she will get there if she can get a handle on her health issues.

I am maintaining pretty much but have not been able to get motivated to exercise other than walking. I have to get back to using weights since that is when I lose the most. I want to get to my goal SOON! I have always lost pretty slowly so i'm not too upset (at least I have not gained like many) but I need a kick in the pants. I will never be loser of the week/month I know that. I honestly dont' think it's really fair most of the time how they award that. If a person gains 10 lbs one week....then next week loses 8 lbs...bam! They are loser of the week...but nobody took into account that they gained so much last week! I really wish we could have something in the bylaws like (you can not be loser of the month if you lost less than you gained the previous week) or something. It just doesn't seem fair. The person who legitimately loses 4 lbs 2 weeks in a row gets no recognition...but the person who GAINED a LOT the last week then loses a lot this week gets praise. Maybe I'm overthinking this. I just wish we could recognize everyone not just the yo-yo losers.

Jeanie, Congrats on being a big loser Our chapter does not have charms or any thing to mark the big moments.. I couldn't wear them anyway {metal allergies} But it would be nice.

Do any of you ever feel like TOPS is making you a little obsessive with the weigh-ins? I like the accountability and the support, but hate that we are expected to not gain weight over the course of the week especially when my meeting isn't until 6:30 pm.

Yeah, it's hard. I get to weigh in early, around 5:30pm before our 6:30 meeting I can eat something right after but I would never eat before the weigh in. That does seem obsessive to most people I'm sure but I basically fast all day and also wear the same clothing to every meeting so I don't have that variable to deal with. It would be nice to have our meetings at 9am on a Saturday but that would never happen here so I just do the best I can. Over time, if you are truly losing weight, it will show up. Nobody really understands the pressures of our weigh-ins, not even WW in my opinion, because so much of what we do at our meetings depends on our losses/gains.

I am becoming obsessed. I have 12 weeks in a row without a gain. I turtled this past week. Will see what next week brings. Can't handle the 25 to 30 grams of carbs a day any more. Switched to JUDDD. Today is my first down day. So far so good.

Down only .5 this week according to the TOPS weigher who was filling in for our regular weigher. I know I am down more than that but I just let it go. The sub is very elderly and bless her soul she always gets my weight wrongwhen she subs for our regular person. The following week when I get weighed in by the regular person, everyone is amazed that I appear to have lost close to 3 pounds that week when really it is only because it is really a loss over a two week period. Oh well I know what I weigh at home so that is what really matters and as long as I don't show an unfair gain it's all good.

Awesome Do you have a night meeting? I find it so hard to show a loss when I don't weigh in until 6:30 pm.

I did not submit my goal weight yet. I want to wait until I lose a few more lbs then see if it's sustainable. I was thinking 125 but might go for 127 so I have the 10lb cushion of 130-120.
Is anyone going to their FRD?? We just found out it is $30 to attend and I will be missing a day of work for it so not sure if it's worth it! Why do they charge so much?

Had a .20 gain, so broke my run of no gains. Really expected it to be more. Have come off of low carb and am doing JUDDD and trying for moderate carbs. So far am doing ok with down days.

My chapter is hosting our area's fun day. Registration is $4.00 and the catered meal is $10.50.

I/doctor set my goal at 152. That will let me be down to 145. That is where I really want to be. Have only been that low a couple of times in my adult life. Think it will be very hard to maintain.

We will not have a meeting next Monday. Our meeting place closes on holidays.

Everyone have a good week.

Not going to FRD but going to a Fall rally I think it is $25.00. Some of us will be weighing in Mon @ 10:00 so gotta be really careful this week-end..
Dirt, that was the two sips of water you had before weighing in You all have a great week-end & stay safe

I also had my first ever .25 gain, probably due to getting a TOM which I haven't had for over a year FRD is being downplayed at our group.

Super! I changed my goal about 5x. I started with a weight that I thought I would be happy at and that was 135. Then my weight started dropping more so I lowered it 5, etc. I became a KOPS at 135. I didn't change it until I was maintaining well at 5 lb. or more below my goal. That is the nice thing about being a KOPS. The 10 lb. leeway!

You will find your "perfect weight" when your body adjusts. Mine adjusted quite a bit for a year or two. Now I just wish I didn't look like the "saggy baggy elephant". But I would rather have that than the skin all filled out.

My chapter meets on Thursday evening and we start weighing in at 5:30. Technically we are not suppose to eat in the meeting room. But we bring snacks and eat them before the meeting starts. Most of us don't eat dinner until we get home. Our chapter has never been one that goes out to eat afterwards. I know a lot of chapters that do though.

Jeanie, I would start out with a little higher weight than you think you want. If you would like to be 140 then if you choose 145 or 150, you can see how your weight maintains. You can go 7 below your goal and 3 above so if your goal is 145 then your weight could be 138-148. If you choose 150 your weight could be 143-153. HTH.

I like to go to Fall Rally Days. Our chapter pays the fee which used to be $5 each and now it is $10 each. This doesn't include lunch which you can brown bag or like my group, we go to a small restaurant across the street. The only stipulation about FRD is if you don't attend after we have paid your registration, then you must reimburse the chapter. Plus our FRD is on a Saturday.

I think having 127 is a good goal. You can always change it. You can actually raise or lower it as long as you are in the 10 lb. leeway when you do. You may not raise it higher than when you began.

I hope none of you get discouraged when your weight bounces up a small amount like .20. It is natural for the weight to go up a little. I think it would be extremely hard to maintain a constant weight and that is why having a 10 lb. spread as a KOPS is so important. I just tell myself that I have to be at goal or under. That keeps me in check and so what if I gain or lose 1 lb. or 2 as I am in my lower leeway.
