Not so much counting the carbs, but more so eliminating the "whites". No flour, no sugar, no pasta, no rice. I use a lot of nut flours, protein powders, etc. Well....I used to anyway, until starting WW. I havn't done much baking at all lately. Not sure I can trust myself around the "end results" yet. Now....it's a lot LESS fatty steaks, a lot LESS cheese, even MORE fruits,....it's alot to wrap your head around sometimes....ever feel that way ??? |

Congrats to everyone on their losses this week! I had WI yesterday and lost 1 lb. I'm happy with that. Still up from pre-holiday but I'm working out like a crazy person and I'm back to tracking the foods. I feel good that I'm back on track. The weekend is here so I hope I can stay strong....
Have a good weekend! The question on tomatoes scanning as 1. I asked my leader - she said fruits/vegs are always free but sometimes canned products might have some olive oil or something in it (the Italian roasted or something). If you don't see that - it's ok to use 0 pts. |

[QUOTE=hockeymom;16182231]I am beginning to wonder if I should just come up with a moderate number of carbs to eat daily, rather than call it a specific plan?????
I know that I can do ww with the allowance of bread, fruit, rice, potatoes, etc via the simply filling technique, but for some reason, my mind keeps saying get off the carbs!!! Why can't I just figure out what the best plan for me is? QUOTE] I am exactly the same way....This first week back at WW I have struggled with points and portion sizes. Last night for dinner, if I stayed within my points range, I could only have a four ounce pork chop (pre-cooked weight). I eat a LOT of veggies to fill me up. I have done low carb for so long that those small portions of protein don't seem to be enough. Obviously low carb hasn't been a permanant solution either. I need to get out of my own head ![]() I am hoping that a good loss at weigh in Monday will inspire me that this will work for me.

My weigh in was this morning and I lost 2.6 lbs this week.
That was with going out last weekend for Italian food and wine. I have been tracking faithfully and it's working. |

wishbone- Congrats on your loss!!!!!
![]() hockeymom- Awesome loss NoMoreExcuses- It is hard to get away from the LC mindset in the beginning but you'll adjust to it soon! My biggest problem in the beginning was hunger, but that passed after a week OP. catr31- WTG!!!!! Just goes to show that WW works when we plan!!! shellyshebby- You'll be great! Just plan or pre-track if you can. One meal (or day) doesn't have to undo all your hard work. And HAppy Birthday to DD!!! ![]() rotay60- Good luck at WI tomorrow |

I just had a killer workout. I'm so happy I had the energy for a Leslie Sansone 2 mile walk and strength training today. I think I'm having trouble w/ my HRM though. Can't figure out just yet if I need a new battery or a new strap. Regardless, either way I earned 4AP's, which for me is a lot as my average has been 3AP's per workout. This may not seem like a lot for some people but for me it's progress! I'm getting stronger and building endurance. YAY!

Gosh, I'm not sure why but this has been a hungry day for me!
I'm even thinking of going to bed early so I'll stop wanting to eat. I haven't gone over my points, but I want to. I think I'll chew a piece of gum for a few minutes, drink a little water then go on to bed. It could be due to the fact that I don't work weekends so I'm bored. I haven't overdone the sugar today, and I'm steering clear of white flour. It's just one of those off days I suppose. On the upside, this is my fifth day of walking on my treadmill. Three days were 15 minutes each and the last two were 20 minutes. I'm so sedentary 24/7, so that's a feat for me! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! ![]()

I hear you about having a hungry day, there are some days I just want to gnaw my own arm off.
I'm cooking my batches of spaghetti sauce for dd's birthday party tomorrow, one ground beef and one chicken breast. And putting candy in the goody bags, haven't caved and had any yet! |

I was surprised to see a WW forum here. Do you eat low carb and count the ww points or are you just eating whatever and counting points? I lose weight better on a very low carb diet but I like the ww plan better. I feel it is more healthy and I have more energy when I'm on it. Plus I can't stay on a low carb diet for more than a few days at a time.

I am doing WW on it's own right now. I figure I can always low carb it down the road if I feel like I'm in a rut with it.
I have done low carb, stayed on it for about 8 months, but eventually caved and went back to eating carbs. I really love fruit, and being able to eat a bread! |

good monring, Happy Monday!
I had my WW meeting and weigh in on saturday, and was down 2.4lbs! so.. ones again, the program works, but it takes committment, and tracking.. NO short cuts. no "winging" it! I try to really follow it, and work with all the 360 tools! Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed.. trying to change some of the old bad habits! Like... I try to slow down my eating.. and not just "wolf it"! down and I try to have a fruit for desert, and not something processed, like WW desert, or ice cream! and there are so many other small bad habits, I picked up over the years and try to change. but these are the main ones I am working on, this week! LOL I booked my flight for my germany trip.. in June, and I want to be as close to my goal weight as I can.

ok, so i know i have asked several questions as to if doing LC on WW works and you all have confirmed its possible to do both. my next question is if any of you have been able to do it long term? i mean without bouncing between regular WW and WW low carb. i am still not quite commited to paying for WW but i am looking for consistancy, structure, and variety in my necessary LC way of eating (not to mention also weightloss).

My first weigh in, down 2.6. I must admit, I am a bit disappointed. I expected more the first week, especially since my food intake was a pretty drastic change from the eating I had been doing during the holidays

Wishbone, I just had two days of all you can eat! What in the world?! Thank goodness tomorrow is a new day.
Trvlpk, I think you could incorporate WW into a functional low carb way of eating for you. It certainly has the structure and consistency. And you can have as much variety as you have imagination for your choices! |

Way too much time on my hands!
|
ok .. so except for Dottie and Cheri .. nobody here knows me .. kinda freaky since I was here from day one when LCF was first started
I reached an all time high with my weight last summer, after a year of mourning the loss of my mom who had lived with me for a year before her passing (this thought still makes me cry). I finally pulled up my very big girl panties and said enough was enough, I was killing myself! Hi, my name is Lo, and I LOVE FOOD. I don't eat to live. I dearly love food. It's not like quitting smoking.. I still need food to survive. I thought I broke the sugar addiction during the previous diets, but apparently that is not an achievable goal for me .. so my new goal is to control it, not lose it. Since July, I've lost 37 pounds on WW Points Plus, and have another, oh crap, 60 to 80 to go. I haven't even made it down to my Atkins starting weight yet! Sigh. I'm ok though, it's about 1 to 1.5 pounds a week, and I allow myself one day each week to go out and eat whatever. I've learned on that day to skip the desserts lol and enjoy the burger and fries, or tostada's or whatever that weeks craving is. It seems to help my body to confuse it a little and keep out of the rut of the same stuff over and over. Last week I started water aerobics. ugh. That is my only concession into exercise right now - I know I'm going to have to later on in order to keep losing, but for now, I'm refusing! Anyway .. that's my story .. it's good to be back Last edited by Lo; 01-14-2013 at 07:42 PM.. |
