Good news Murray. I was down 1 pound when I woke up, but now, after coffee? Back up .6.
Hang in there Crazyone, you just gave yourself some important feedback. We gotta plan!
Have a great weekend everyone.

Went shopping today, got a size smaller in Levi's- yay! But....when I see myself in the mirror, yuck! Disgusted! I think that I just want surgery to cut and suck everything away. However, that ain't gonna happen because I am not loaded with moolah

pointsplus 2012

I just wanted to say I've been on & off of WW for years (I'm 45) and even went last year & quit because I wasn't losing.
I think this new pointsplus 2012 is finally getting it right!!!
The new attention lower carbs & more protein is getting is encouraging to me.
I KNOW this (LC) is what I need to do.
Thanks to all who post recipes. I will be doing so soon, when I get my act together!
I'm currently figuring pointsplus for this awesome recipe:
brick of fat free cream cheese
1 t coconut extract
1 t vanilla extract
splenda to taste
mix well, sprinkle unsweetened coconut flakes on top (2-3Tbsps)
few choc chips on top
refrigerate
enjoy half at a time (2 servings)

I find though I love the program...the points are higher for protein...it is so frustrating that one chicken thigh is 6 points..seems WW is still stuck on the fat business. They have been since they started.

Checking in - I am still stressed out but back in control with food. No damage done, really, because I just overate clean foods that I eat in my daily diet. BUT today at the grocery store I decided to make tacos tonight. Danger ranger. I love any and all Latin food. Crossing fingers that I can eat reasonable, non-excessive portions of shredded pork, cilantro, and fab tortillas!

Hi all! Does anyone here do low carb and WW together? I want to try it, but I'm not sure it's possible... I lost 20 pounds a few years ago on WW before PointsPlus came around, but I certainly wasn't eating "healthy" - lots of processed foods, which I am trying to stay away from now. I'd like to continue with LC because it makes me feel better, but I have trouble with portion control, and that's where I'm hoping WW might help. Any thoughts?

LolaBear - many here do a variation of low carb and ww. One other thing that you might want to try is the WW Simply Filling Technique. I think this plan is a bit easier for leaning toward a lower carb.

Weight is going down, thank goodness. I'll wait till Friday for my "official" weight. About to have some Kashi GoLean Crisp with Silk milk. Mmmm...

Have a great Wednesday, all!

A great dinner: 4oz burger made with extra lean ground beef (7 pts), no bun, grainy mustard, 1/2 oz of blue cheese (1 pt) , covered in a mess of sauteed onions and mushrooms (0 pts), plus a big spinach salad on the side (1 pt for the 1t of olive oil in the dressing). Nine points total for all of that yumminess. So good to change things up once in a while.

Remember when I said this last week. Well....that was last Thursday morning at weigh-in. Then, my 17 year old wanted to go for Japense food for his birthday, then dessert. Then..Friday/Saturday we went to visit my college son---we ate/ate/and ate some more. So..Monday/Tuesday I exercised/ate healthy. Last night - dinner/drinks with friends - ouch again. I went into the negative number on my weekly points. I did get in enough exercise points to make up for it but still... oink oink. Today was weigh in -- up 1 lb from last week (so, I'm pretty happy that it wasn't worse than that).

Back on track/plan. This week's goal is to try to stay lower carb... get rid of the snacks/junk even if they are low in points. I will, however, keep with the apples/fruit.

Hope everyone else stays strong for the weekend.

Weigh day. Down 1.8. This seems to be my consistent rate of loss, I think.

Have a good weekend, everyone! Hope TS Sandy does not ruin the weekend for everyone in the East!

HM - Good job. Getting rid of low point junk is key, I think. I can't handle it at all. My current approach is to eat very very cleanly, and then spend some weekly points on something fabulous and real, not junky. So great wine, cheese, Mexican, Thai or Indian food, etc. OUTSIDE of my own house. Cause if it is in the house, I eat it.

Wtg Murray. I would take that rate of loss anytime. I finished up my week of disaster last night and am starting fresh today. I am going to try to quit stressing over which diet is the best and start focusing on which one is healthy and long term for me. For now, I will try to keep my eyes fom wandering off WW. Have a great weekend everyone.

Weeeeeeeeellll, this rate of loss comes with having a heck of a lot more to lose than you have, so don't be too jealous . I am at 195 now, and should probably get to 145 before I can even consider maintenance. Boooooooooooooo.

Re which is the best plan: it is the one you can stick to. But we cannot know whether we can stick to a plan until we stop tweaking/worrying/jumping on and off and just work it out. It only took me, like, 20 years to learn that.

i just re-joined WW last Sunday.

I actually started practicing portion control at the beginning of Oct. The less said about June through Sept. the better. I am more concerned about food related behaviors than #s on the scale. So, I shall not despair regardless of what the scale says. As long as I track honestly, the miracle WILL happen...in time. Love & Profits: FLAT-WW/OWL-FERENGHI

As a former Lowcarber (lost 120 lbs in 10 mos. back in 2002), I'd never do lowcarb again. I eat tons of food on a platter every night, and don't deprive myself of anything. I'm not on a diet, I'm taking care of myself and weight loss is a side affect. Started (again) the day after my ex had a stroke. I'm not afraid to die, I'm afraid to live and not be able to take care of myself.

In the past with WW, I'd eat all my points (or whatever) in WW twinkies and processed food. Now I eat good, whole foods and lots of it. Lots. I've lost 86 lbs this past year. People ask what my goal weight is, and for the first time, I don't have one. My weight will be whatever it is when I stop losing.

I was a big time poster on the Atkins board back in "the day", and my dobie muffins were very popular. Even heard someone talk about them in another state. Crazy. But for all the time I deprived myself of potatoes and corn on the cob, I've made up for it now. My blood sugar is normal with no meds, and my BP is around 95/58. Life is good. I'm 55 and have been fat my entire life. I can't believe it was this simple.

Dobie... what a great post.. because I went from 404 to 279 with low carb in a little over a year and stop losing no matter how I tweaked low carb.. don't eat this eat more fat blah blah.. I waited way too long and gained back to 332...problem is I swear I can't stay on a plan long enough anymore.. but I remember back in the day kidding with the leader saying that the candy bar I had at lunch was a veggie...

Anyway thank you so much for your post... it has helped me so much...!! when I do stay on WW points plus, I do lose...but the stress in my life, turns to binging.....I swear it feels so good to eat a nice fresh corn on the cob and not freak about the carbs...

Stress? One son is addicted to pain meds, huge problems at his house and his truck backed over my granddaughter last week. Other son? His wife stopped taking her medication and thinks he was trying to kill her. Kidnapped their 2 kids and is living underground in a battered woman's shelter. So much more, so, so much more. Bottom line is that food is the one thing we can control. Also, if I'm too fat to be able to wipe my ass or lift my arm to slit my throat when things get bad, I don't want to live. Again, easy to die, but what if my weight causes me to have a stroke and I can't care for myself? WAY to scary. The next bite of garbage I eat could be the one that causes me to have a stroke. I'm not willing to take the chance.

Again, I eat tons of good food, and by good I mean pizza, mexican, ravioli, etc. I've learned how to eat exactly what I want, and bulk it up with veggies. Never ate butternut squash before in my life, now I make french fries with it, shred it with potatoes to make a skillet of hash browns (all for me), or mash it up with refried beans to get 2-3 times more. All about VOLUME for me..... Take care. I was 297, now at 211 and wearing a size 16. I'll never be thin and it does NOT matter. I'll be what I'll be, but I'll be healthy and full.

there is no such thing as "one diet fits all"

even Dr. ATKINS said that. I no longer do Induction anymore. Not that there is anything wrong with Induction. It is just that I got seduced to the dark side of the force too often, and I wound up putting back all the weight I lost on Induction (which was quite a lot each time). So now, I am doing WW points plus, and keeping the OWL phase of ATKINS. This allows me more salad and veggies. I also recently added cautious amounts of fruit 2 or 3 days a week. This produce has kept me from extra-ordinary hunger, and the need to gobble down subs, crunchies, and sweets. If I can win the PORTION CONTROL battle, that is the true key to success. So, whatever works for any of us, THAT is the right plan. Oh, btw, I am down 5.2 lbs since last week. From 342.2 to 337.0. Not a bad beginning. Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Portion control is not something we discuss in our meetings, because we're all volume eaters. I'm not going to be hungry and go through life. I've just learned how to take what I want, make a few adjustments and bulk it up so that I don't have to watch my portions. I eat on a platter every evening, because a plate won't hold it all.....gotta love it!
