Are you counting your calories?"

When people talk about the calories in food, what do they mean? A calorie is a unit of measurement — but it doesn't measure weight or length. A calorie is a unit of energy. When you hear something contains 100 calories, it's a way of describing how much energy your body could get from eating or drinking it.

Are Calories Bad for You?

Calories aren't bad for you. Your body needs calories for energy. But eating too many calories — and not burning enough of them off through activity — can lead to weight gain.

KAIMI- Grilled steak/Portabella Panini with minestrone soup bread sticks raspberry lemonade. According to the OLIVE GARDEN'S web site nutritional value the meal the calorie count was 930/107 carb count. and what I had for breakfast and supper added to 1999 cal. For me it take two days to digest meat for me.,so I knew I would be up,today I down again.

Nope, not doing anything right now! i posted to you on the 17dd. I'm sporting around in a size 16 - from a 10/12. Yeah, go me! NOT!
I figured when the kids are in school I'll be able to do the things I want to do. It's been 3 months now and NO spots for them. I'm so looking forward to moving in July like no other!
I did contact a personal trainer for rates; gave up diet coke for 8 days and working on NO splenda as of today....does that count?

honestly, i have a problem. I give up the foods that i "love" and then I "binge" for days on what I couldn't have. that is why i loved WW. because NO food is a NO-NO but had loss on the 17DD don't know why i even stopped. I know why? going out grocery shopping did it. as i age, almost 44 y/o I just have NO and I mean NO self control at all. Also, i don't lose weight if i eat carbs - even whole wheat bread, oatmeal, etc..i had gestational diabetes both times pg. and always lost weight b/c i couldn't eat icecream, white stuff, etc..i can do w/o the white stuff it's the bread, etc..i can't. well, i could but i won't if i had to give up diet coke. lol i will give up one day at a time and i'm so proud of not having diet coke. it's funny, when i order something from subway i immediately say diet coke. but change it to water.

i met a girl that lost 70+ pounds here by doing WW online and working out. she's the one i'm talking to about personal training sessions.

then w/ plantar fasciitis in my left heel and feels like the right is catching up - limited to exercising. i walk for a day and then end up resting for 4 if not a whole week and i'm the one that used to walk 20+ miles a week w/o any problems. stupid treadmill running did it.

i hope so and my butt better be 155 lbs by the time we move in july or WW will make me pay until I get there - maybe i should pay the price for eating too much.

KAIMI-Thanks ,but it so hard to get out of the 160's. I think I'm going to cut my bread / starch carbs next week when I finish my planner this week. [old WW habit]. I noticed I'm eating way too many of the starch carbs being that the temps & seasons are changing.[comfort foods] and so near Thanksgiving.The one thing I can't do is exercising[even walking] as I having breathing problems and get out of breath too easily.I guess along with cutting my carbs I will have to cut my calories down also.

What is the 17dd diet????It that the 17 Day Diet, and woman on my other board tried that and gained. I don't follow a diet at all just count calories & with portion control,but sometime when I run out of calories I over do it especially in the evening watch the stupid boob tube. Have to keep my hand busy,maybe I go back to knitting.


KIND-How are you doing???? I see you posting here once in a while,but what other diet or thread are you following??????

I never gained on the 17 day diet -- esp. during TOM. WW I always gained and then some! Taking me weeks to lose. I really liked the old plan I was on but because I don't have to go to meetings...I'm slacking. I'm giving up stuff little by little and diet coke was 1st. I was drinking one or two per day. Now, I drink tea - mostly decaf. I don't think tea has a lot of caffeine. Does it?

Winter is the hardest for me because of being locked in the house and we get lots and lots of rain during this time too! I'm going too start Leslie Dvd's - I find them boring but I "have" to do something for the winter months or I'll be as big as my house.

I told my husband maybe we should lose weight to be anorexic during the summer and then NOT count a thing during the winter months and just gain weight. lol

Hi,
I always come here to see how you are doing. You just keep going and doing great,Dont you?Ha
Im doing 17day diet. cycle3 right now.and I still count calaries with it.
My down fall is like kaimi, With the diet pop. Only she is winning on that part.
I love Sub way. Maybe daisey and I and u Kimimi should go.ha
I love that place.
In fact now that Im doing cycle 3 I think I will get 1 this week or next.
I got chia seeds and will take that that along with ground flax seed.
My weight has held for 6 days now,so maybe soon a drop.
If you go to 17 day site you and others can see how I did with my chol,
I got a A plus from Dr. office yesterady. Im doing great.
I still like to loose 20lbs more, But Dr. said only 5lbs more.Im great right were Im. But what does he know. He said i could loose another 5lbs if I really want to, and I do4Xs.ha.
I feel so good about self and Im healthy as can be. for my age that is good.
I just hope I can keep going.
I guesse the whole key is really wanting it and just doing it 1 day at a time. I have to not watch that scale like i do, and as long as holding then good too.
I just have to watch hard and stay with a good eating plan for the next few weeks.
I can with your help.
I still wish we would have meeks and Frances come back.

KAIMI-Thanks for the 17DD web site I'm go over and to a peak. I never lost in WW either I went 13 weeks on the flex plan and the leader couldn't understand why I wasn't losing,and she suggested to go on the core for 13 weeks and I did better but not what I was looking for in a weight loss program i quite and not just watching calories & eating in portions.

KIND-I have soda but I like flavored water better,so I don't have problems in that area. Its the snacking in between meals. My friend told men to buy tootsie roll pops where I can suck on it like a pacifier when I have to have something in my mouth.If helps for a while ,but than I'm looking for something else. The battle of the budge will always be with us.I need to exercise but I can't with my hip hurting. Going to try the chair exercises that a woman on another board suggested.
