Had been doing well until today, I have eaten anything that was not nailed down and used 12 weeklies today! Oh well, tomorrow is a new day.

Pam, I hope you start getting better! This junk really has gone on too long! You need to be healthy for the holidays. Maybe the doc can give you some answers. Or some drugs to help you get better. You sure don't want to end up with pneumonia or something. (shaking finger at you like I'm your mom!)

Weighed in yesterday--down 2.8!! I was kind of shocked, but my pants were noticeably looser yesterday. That puts me just under 18 pounds lost since Sept 14 and I got my 5% lost star. Pretty cool! But we don't meet next week because of the holiday, so I've got TWO weeks to navigate on my own. We'll see how it goes.

And yes, I ate all my points again. I think I ended up using 48 of my 49 extra points. But I figure that's what they're there for, so until or unless the loss stops, I'm going to keep eating them. Good thing my week starts on Wednesdays....will give me a whole new batch of 49 to spend on Thanksgiving!! I'll count everything I eat, but I'm not going to deny myself anything that I really want if I have the points to cover it.

Well, back to the grindstone. Just wanted to check in. Hope you have a good Thursday! Wonder where the rest of our crew has disappeared to??

I also bought some Mission Carb Balance tortillas (small size), and they're just 1 point each. I used two to make wraps with yesterday, and they weren't bad. I'm not a huge tortilla eater anyway, but this was kind of nice. Might be good to use for fajitas sometime. I think they only have about 4-5 net carbs each, so not a bad hit either way.

I know, I know...I'm posting too much today! But I just rememberd this recipe that I wanted to share. It's ZERO points, and I LOVE this stuff. It's a great, zingy addition to your Thanksgiving spread. Delicious, and it lasts for several days. I like to put it on sandwiches the day or two after. Fantastic. And you know what? That's coming from a cranberry-sauce hater!! This is WAY different!

Santa Fe Cranberry Relish

1 bag cranberries
1 jalapeno, seeded and de-veined
l green onion
1 tsp dried cilantro
1/4 tsp. cumin
3/4 cup sugar substitute (whichever one you prefer)

Put all ingredients in food processor and process to a coarse grind.
Let set overnight for flavors to blend. (Better on day two!)

Use as a substitute for traditional cranberry relish -- great with turkey, chicken, ham, or beef!

Nah, you can never post too much! WTG on the loss and eating all the points, that is great, you are just cruising girl keep up the good work. Wish I could eat all my points and lose, but cannot. I just realized last night I had to count the 2 tsps of oil, guess I got it confused between the SFT and the regular plan, ooops.

Pam, go see the doc and get some z pack I messed with it for 3 weeks before going, it is a nasty bug. No one will yell at you for not eating points, or falling off the wagon etc etc. We are here to support each other and be yelled at if we ask for it!
Like your husband I am not really a fruit eater either but try to push at least 2 a day.

Well, I know it's been a long time, but I'm back! I was on a 16 night cruise, plus flying to Europe to catch it, missed 3 weeks, and I was down 6.8 lbs at my WW meeting on Tuesday.

I stayed moderately LC and ate a lot of seafood, beef only 4 times. No sugared desserts, but had some diet sugar free desserts. I had hoped to exercise, but I didn't, other than walking. I still think it was a success. I'll take it.

Haven't gotten over the jet lag, but hope to contribute here again.

BTW, my online WW, when I tracked my weight, told me I was losing too fast. And I am so NOT hungry, can't imagine eating more.

Welcome back! I was wondering when you'd be back from the cruise. Sounds like it was fantastic--and like it had no ill effects on your weight loss efforts. How cool is that!!??

It'll be good to have you back with us again.

Well....tomorrow is "shop for Thanksgiving" day. Have about a dozen folks coming to my house, but several are bringing dishes. My main responsibility will be ham, turkey, cornbread dressing and green bean casserole. Most of that can be prepped the day before, which is good, because I'm working M-Tu-Wed next week.

Have a good weekend everybody. See you back here Monday! And GET WELL, Pam!

I hope you had a great time, I am envious! Thrilled to hear you lost so much on a cruise! I would have gained 10 pounds just walking past the buffet, life is not fair. Welcome back.

Pam glad you are recovering health wise, but you rock on your eating and weight loss! I haven't had time to read back, but have you tried homemade egg drop soup? Made from chicken broth, you get that going for it, plus eggs for protein, and a few drops of Asian sesame oil helps the upper respiratory too, as does some hot oil, if you like things spicy. mine isn't pretty, but you coups do take out too, my DH will do that for me sometimes.

Pam, it looks like you must be feeling a bit better. At least your points are up again. I'm taking that as a good sign!

Don't sweat the 2 lb gain, Dee. I can gain 2 lbs just by eating some chips or drinking a couple of margaritas. I'm just a "sweller," and I can't always tell it except on the scale. Maybe it's just water and it'll be gone in a day or two.

Great idea about the egg drop soup. My DH was up all night long with what I think was food poisoning, and his tummy is really tender today. Maybe some egg drop soup (not too spicy) will help him feel better--as long as it stays down!

Had a pretty good weekend, but flat out ate too much at a couple of meals. That is really bugging me when I do that. Have got to work harder at recognizing those "you're full, silly!" signs. I KNOW it when they happen; I just ignore them! Sheesh!! Since I was up most of the night with DH, I'll probably eat light tonight and hit the hay early. We're having thunderstorms that will continue through the evening/night, and it ought to make for some wonderful sleeping weather!!

Enjoy the rest of your day. Thanksgiving prep officially begins tonight...making the cornbread for the dressing. Yummy!! BBT (be back tomorrow)

Hi everybody,

Dee- don't worry about the 2 lbs, that's all water weight, Tom, or workout weight.

magna - I didn't know Asain sesame oil helps with upper respiratory. That's great info. I make a lot of stir fries with it, yum

Shari - when I felt like I had no control over food, I started to break dinner up in half. In other words, I would eat half and leave the other half for an hour just to see if I would really get full. Most of the time I would be able to pack up the rest of dinner and that would end up being lunch the next day. Your mind and stomach is alway slow when it comes to feeling full. It becomes very tricky.

Menu:
B - coffee,hwc,splenda 2pts 2carbs
S - chicken 1pts 0carbs
L - sloppy joe bake 11pts 8carbs
D - bbq chicken 6pts 4carbs
D - side salad 4pts 4carbs
S - 2 glasses wine ( must be feeling better )

Total = 24pts, 18carbs extra used for the wine

Starting to clean a little today and do some laundry. Have to make 2 pumpkins pies, pumpkin cheesecakes, pumpkin breads and set the table tomorrow, so dusting and vacuuming are on the agenda for today. I will take it easy though and try not to go backwords in the sick department.

Funny, Pam, I thought about that last night--just make a plate and then cut it in half. Put half away and don't get it out unless you really think you're hungry. So simple. My WW leader suggested doing that with your evening meal on Thanksgiving. She said go ahead and eat what you want for lunch, but that evening when everybody's starting to graze again (and they always do!), if you can't take half, then MAKE half. Or eat a bit and put your plate in the fridge to nibble on later or the next day.

And look at you! Cleaning? You really must be feeling better. That's great!

Friends, I had the scariest thing happen last night. My neighbor came over to chat, and I walked her out on the porch when she was going home. We were standing there talking when a huge dog started barking across the street. Before we knew it, he just zoomed across the street, through my yard and onto my porch, snarling and barking at us! We made it back in my house--but only barely!! The dog looked like an odd cross between a pit bull and a large beagle, if you can imagine. Scared the living daylights out of me!! It was dark and pouring rain, and we had no idea where he came from or where he went from there. None of my neighbors knew, either. After a while, my friend crept out the door with my pepper spray and made a run for her house next door. I can't even remember the last time I had an adrenaline surge like that. Now I'm afraid to let my old golden retriever out the front door for fear that dog will be there and will attack him. What a weird night!!

Made cornbread for my dressing last night (after my heart stopped pounding). Tonight, it's a chop-fest....onions, celery, etc. Tomorrow is assembly night. I used to put it all off to the end, but it nearly killed me. Old age sometimes brings wisdom, I suppose. Lessons learned!! But I'm getting excited for Thanksgiving. We'll have a small crew, but I'm looking forward to the time off. And Pam.............we already have the wine.......so we're at least THAT far ahead!!

Shari - wow, the dog probably thought you were a bad guy out at night. But that's not cool. Looks like your getting right along on you chopping and cooking. My daughter asked to help cook with me today. That will make things go slower for sure, but she wants to learn so we need to help little minds

Menu:
B - coffee,hwc,splenda 2pts 2carbs
B - 2 egg, cheese 6pts 2carbs
L - oopies turkey deli sandwich 7pts 2carbs
S - tea 0pts 1carbs
D - taco salad 8pts 8carbs
S - 2 glasses of wine

Total = 21pts, 13carbs

Happy Thanksgiving group! Pam, so glad to see you are feeling good again. How old is your daughter? It will be fun to have her help, slower yes but fun and great memories for sure.

Scary about the dog, glad you two were not hurt.

I am making mashed potatoes and the ham for dinner at my BIL's house the ham has been marinating for a few days, smells great.

Everyone enjoy the day all.

My girls (14 & 18) and I had a blast last year chopping and cooking together. It did take longer, but it was great fun--and a lot less work for me! Only one is home this year (at least for the WORK), but she's willing to help out.

Hope everybody has a great Thanksgiving!! Be careful on the roads--and at the table!

I have done LC and I've done WW and I've been having problems getting back OP of either. I recently read that a person should count calories and low carb which caused me to start wondering if you could do a WW/LC combo and for some reason decided to check out the WW part of LCF and I was amazed to find this group. I don't plan to actually get strictly OP until Sunday. However, I want to read all of the previous posts of this thread between now and then. I don't go to WW meetings, but I still have all the new materials for Points Plus. Hopefully I will be allowed to join this group. Thanks.

Thanks pcaltman for the welcome. Just finished our very carby turkey dinner and remembered why I hate eatung all those carbs. On the plus side, I believe I just found my incentive to start WW/LC tomorrow instead of Sunday. Got some reading to do on here after the game.

I am a 68 year old retired grandmother. I am originally from TX and never thought I would ever live anywhere else. My hubby of 31 yrs passed away and 2 yrs later I met a guy on-line from FL married him and moved to FL. We eventually moved to SC just south of Charlotte, NC. DH daughter, her hubby and 4 children moved in with us about 4 months ago thanks to the economy. She's attending nursing school and will graduate in December 2012. They moved in here with us from FL because her husband found a job in Charlotte. DH and I had gotten used to having things nice and quietg and doing our own thing so it has been a real adjustment, especially since I'm stuck at home most of the time with a 19 month old grandson. I think we are finally settling in and I do enjoy having the baby around. The other three children are 2 girls 8 and 13 and another boy will be 18 yrs old in a few day.

I'm a Type 2 diabetic and have gotten control before on Atkins, but just don't think I can do strict Atkins again. I think combining low carb with WW will be great. I think I also need the portion control of WW. I can't see myself never eating any carby type foods and I do have a tendency on Atkins to over do the protein portions.

You can do it Patty. We are all here for you and welcome to the South I'm in northern Virginia, but origanially from all over the map. Met my husband and have been here for 19 years now. I have 4 kids (almost 18, 15, 12, 9) The last one is a beautiful little girl the rest Boys.....

Ok Thanksgiving was fun as always. I always have giving myself Thanksgiving and the day after and X-mas eve and X-mas to eat whatever I want (my big cheat days). This year I seem to want to start being good today so I will probably eat well. Turkey salad for me for lunch

pcaltman Sounds like you have a really nice family. I usually do good with dieting during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, but I know I am always going to eat the goodies during this time of year. So WW is a good way to do it.

Ended up with a pretty good day. Not as low carb as it probably should have been but still only had my 29 pts and none of the weekly pts. I think it is a good start. Trying to get the rest of my water in before it gets any later. It really is amazing the things you can eat on WW/LC and not feel deprived. I also like Intuitive Eating which says when you are hungry -- eat what you really love and savor every bite, but eat when you are satisfied. I'm finding that I can do this with this WW/LC woe. It's really nice to be able to eat what you enjoy and not "have" to eat things you don't.

Ok didn't do as well as I would have hope yesterday, but that's ok. It was a cheat day anyway Now back to being good. I can't believe I made a 23lbs turkey and don't have a lot of left overs That's what I get with 3 teen boys in the house. Everything is gone already....... So much for me making a Turkey pot pie next week......

Welcome to our little group Patty. You can do it, you just have to start! Many of us started off LC/WW but Pam pulls it off very well, I can't even come close! I think most of us just do WW and try to keep carbs at a reasonable amount.

What I am doing is WW @ 29 pts just not using to low fat non fat stuff. The only exception was finding Maries yogurt dressings for 2 pts instead of 5 and I like them better.

I am counting calories/carbs on *********..com and they also have a phone app and I use the points plus diary app both of these are for android phones if you have one and it makes like sooooo much easier. I do not go to WW either, I just do it at home and have these gals/guys for support.

After 3-4 weeks now find that 29 plus some weeklies is too high calorie wise for consistent loss for me. So have been glad I have tracked on ********* to. I think it takes some time to find what tweaks you have to make to any plan to get it to work for you.

Myself, we have no children only fur kids due to ovarian cancer at a young age and we live in Tampa fl and are in our mid fifties. Like you family is strung out all over the country so rarely see anyone these days. My DH family all live here in town.
Hope everyone had a great Turkey Day we did and yes I ate too much but is was a nice break and was back op the next day.
My current goal is to get through the holiday season with minimal gain. Again welcome Patty.

Magnamater and Dee - Thanks for the warm welcome. I am really pleased to find you guys and look forward to making this WW/LC journey with y'all as we get to know and support each other. I hope to make it through the holidays with no gains.

pcaltman - Teen boys do love to eat. My deceased DH's mother told me that he was a teen that he ate all the time. She said he had hollow legs and he was trying to fill them up. LOL

I think I am probably going to be doing a WW minimal low carb too. There are WW frozen dinners I really like and I also tried a Michelina dinner today because DD eats them and says they taste great. They don't seem to have as much food as WW, but I add 0 pts veggies to them and they make a great meal. I will use these at times to learn portion control. I went to Wal-Mart today to get me some lc friendly foods. It is so nice to feel like I can eat the foods that I really like as long as I stay within the 29 pts. With the 0 fruits and veggies it makes it a great plan. I would have probably stayed with WW before if I had realized that I could do it and use the fats. I do use some lowfat, but I do not like eating ff foods. Knowing that the fat makes you feel satisfied and that nofat tastes terrible, I was just turned off of WW when I tried doing it before. I liked the old Core plan mixed with the Flex plan, but people used to get so mad whenever anyone said that. But even Core was supposed to be done with lowfat/ff if I remember correctly. It made you almost afraid to eat fat of any kind even what is called good/healthy fats. I had a beautician back in TX who does lc tell me that the reason people in that town have such problems with their hair being so dry and brittle is because they cut the fat back too far. Then we were told not to eat the yolk of the egg because it will cause high cholesterol, but I heard that yolks are where the healthy nutrients are for our hair. Strange isn't it? I just never thought it was good to give up the fat or the egg yolk.

Thanks again for the welcome. Have a nie weekend.
