BTW, how to you make your brussel sprouts. Are they fresh?
I had a test done through MWL clinic and I am to maintain at 1100 calories. Part of my problem once I reached goal in Sept 2010 was that I didn't take the time to learn maintenance steadily. I just kept adding foods again and then went back to former eating....slowly, but habitually. Bad! Congrats on your success!!
Happy to help and thank you! I tried making fresh brussels sprouts once but they didn't turn out so hot so I do it the easy way - steam in the bag! I love them and eat them almost daily, in addition to salad, carrots, mushrooms, and sweet peppers. Those are all my staple veggies.

Wow, 1100 calories, is it tough to keep to that number?

Thanks for the veggies (and brussel sprouts) ideas!!

I love love nuts! But, they are higher in points and calories. I guess we can't have everything. Going out of town on business for a few days - let's hope I can control myself.

Everybody - good luck staying on plan while I'm gone.

I'm back - I did 'ok' trying to stay within points but higher in carbs than I wanted. Now I'm back and did a VLC day yesterday and trying again today too. Weigh-in on Thursday.

Hey -- where did everyone go? Don't tell me you left me...

I still check in every now and then. I decided to go back to WW and just try to incorporate LC. Unfortunately, I am finding it a bit more difficult than I thought. I am eating too many carbs even though not processed. And then there is the fat issue........I wish that I could just pick one and stick with it. Every time that I just say to heck with it, and choose WW, I come upon another article praising LC.

agree with you. today I had a LC / low point WW day - feel better good about it. I did have some strawberries. I have been having an occasional apple or stawberry/blueberries. I eat a lot more veggies. I don't do fatfree (yuck). I do think it's doable as long as you watch breads/grains. I have to really watch that - and WW loves to talk about them. but...it's my way until Thursday. If the scale doesn't show progess then we'll see.....

although not attending WW meetings currently....

i still hold to the WW points plus system, to give me some QUANTITATIVE structure. i also e-mail my leader from time to time. I will be coming back to the meetings (the last Thursday of June). At this juncture, i am doing VLC, and VHF (very high fat)...in other words ATKINS INDUCTION. So within the 55 daily points, it is a certainty that 65% to 75% of those calories, as many of them as there are, are FAT; and every kind of fat except TRANSFAT. And, now I must begin my workday. good news - down another 2 lbs. so I'm happy. feel good about myself today. everyone in my company is doing WW (company is paying for it) so it's a little fun (but all consuming - we all talk about it all the time). So, tracking my points works - and I find that I'm satisfied with my LC choices that are also low in points. I did have a few apples this week but I'm not freaked about that (like I would have been in the VLC way of life). so...I'll keep everyone posted.

Say Hockeymom, May I ask you something...how many points do you give to chicken?? I am so confused about that...I sure wish WW would give up their daily target point formula....but anyway congrats on your weight loss....

3 oz of chicken is 3 pts. it is confusing - I agree. Of course, banana are 0 pts (which just seems so wrong considering all the carbs) -- but it is what it is. 3 oz is about the size of a deck of cards or the palm of your hand. I don't weigh everything but I guess and that's fine with me. Some of my coworkers weigh everything.

Thanks Hockeymom...Due to my financial situation I can't afford to go to weekly meetings, so I went the first week to grab the literature...I did well, went from about 327 to 308 in 2 weeks and then you know what hit the fan, found myself at 345.6...became in a state of panic...and went back on it April 9th.. and I am now at 325.4....last night I had some crab salad for breakfast/lunch and dinner a boatload of veggies with some ground beef.. and something there put 3 pounds on me, overnight....so I just have to not let that get to me, because those things do and make today another good day.. seems your doing very well...I try and stay lower carb as well...so but I am enjoying being able to add a little wheat pasta back once in a blue moon...The thing about WW is thru the years, their plan is so darn secretive... as I said wish someone could crack the daily target point code, LOL some day they will.. I remember those strict days of long ago at WW when a pat of butter was almost your daily allowance of fat!!

Hello Ladies!!

Had my most painful sinus surgery yesterday, and I'm so thankful it doesn't look like it was a cancerous mass afterall....instead it was from years of infection that caused overgrowth. I don't have the pathology results back yet but the surgeon was quite sure it was from all the mold that I had been living with in this home the past 6 years, and finally discovered it/got rid of it in February. I had been SO SICK for SO long!! It was growing in connection piece that had 4" X 8 foot fabric piece connecting heater below to air ducts above. Didn't find the problem til old broken down humidifier was removed from where attached to water heater and heater unit. I think that was also making my 17 1/2 year old indoor cat unhealthy...he too looks better! (Poor baby!)

Cannot take my Metformin until Saturday due to anesthesia on Thursday. Eating popsicles due to sore throat from having breathing tube in during surgery, also sore due to sinus drainage. I'm able to eat food too, but not ready to cut calories right now while healing. So, I plan to get back on plan Sunday or so.

We can DO this girls!!

Thanks! If you know that something is wrong, continue to persist until doctors DO something about it! I've had sinus problems and frequent infections for the past 25 years (started when living in California). Moved to KS about 22 years ago and due to allergies to weeds/trees/grasses here it got worse. Symptoms much worse in the past 6 years since moved 30 miles from previous location and all along I thought it was due to driving past more fields, cuz my eyes were also itching along that drive. But only discovered in Feb that mold was growing just below the air ducts and therefore spreading those spores throughout the house, and worse of it was into the room adjacent to where I had been sitting doing online grad school assignments for years!! I'm SO thankful that is all over now!! I told MD my left cheekbone was painful more and more and I've had intermittent numbness left side of face and getting hearing changes in left ear. I asked if I could be developing cancer in there due to repeated infections....he persued it and I'm so thankful that this is OVER!! I've been on such high powered antibiotics throughout the past 3 years that they have messed with my tendons and exercising was impossible, just saved my energy to go up and down my tri-level house stairs!! Praise the Lord that He doesn't leave me alone, though I was very nervous for all that could have happened in surgery, I was comforted by Him that I wasn't alone! He is faithful!

WOW - I sure hope you start to feel better. I totally agree with you - you need to nag those doctors until you have a cure. It goes to show scary it can be. My college son is coming home next week - his eczema is horrible (we've been to ever specialist we could find). He moved 3 hours away - living in a old dusty dorm building - and his eczema pretty much went away. That is with college-age eatting habits, dirty room, etc. So, we now think it's our house too. We have a new furnace, air, and special air purifer on it. We also have room purifiers so we hope that works. But, like you --- maybe it's something we can't see.

Well - starting to get the hang of LC, WW -- although last night I had a glass of wine (ok - it was a pretty big glass) but I counted it into my daily points (didn't go over and didn't use my weekly pts). Today - we're about to grill burgers outside but I think I'll resist and have a salad (WOW - can't believe I said that - I love meat but today I just don't have a taste for it).

Let's see what this week brings.....I really want to drop some in May -- since shorts season is coming fast (yikes -what a thought). My goal for May is to stick to plan and exercise more....

well - how is everyone doing? today - I caved in and had a baked potato - I have been wanting one for a month. I planned for it - I counted it - I stayed within my points for the day but.... we'll see what the scale does. Now, as I sit here - I'm miserably full - ouch - my belly hurts (I'm not used to that food). It's so strange - it was one small potato.

Reviving this topic! I NEED to find something that works that I can actually stick to and WW has always been something I can stick to long (in my world) term. I do want to try it lower carb this time around (did it for a bit awhile back and was doing pretty good).

Anybody else want to join in or is anyone still having success combining low carb with WW??

hi Becky - I need to get back to WW tracking - I did so good and then let it slip. I started eatting too many bad carbs/junk and thought it was ok to do. Well - that didn't work. Let's try low carb / ww again.

I am trying to do ww again, and i really trying to stick with the low-ER carb version. I am ok with eating the veggies, including corn since it has point. I am eating somef ruit. Not massive amounts, but instead of turning to snack foods, I am trying to grab a fruit. I am really trying to limit my off-schedule eating. And I have cut out all potato chips and french fries. I just cannot limit them, and I am much better off just elimating the temptation altogether. So far so good. I have also been trying to stick with a basic greek yogurt and maybe a slice of cheese for bkfst, big salad for lunch with protein and otherwise just veggies, with a lighter vinagrette dressing (less oil more vinegar) and then I try variety for dinner. I am actually finding keeping it simpler during the day really works to lessen my cravings at least for now.

I have alos still gone to restaurants a few times, keeping it simple, and had a few beers. I am working on this "liefstyle" change.
