Had a service guy come to remove the ancient nonworking humidifier from heating/AC return area in the utility/laundry room where the heater/AC unit is. We bought this house 6 1/2 years ago and I was told the heater/AC unit had been replaced a couple years prior but that the humidifier had not worked for about 10 years prior to that time. I decided it might be responsible for me being sick since moving here. Well, when it was removed the service guy showed me that the vent system leaving the heating/AC area and going TO the entire house has MOLD on it and he suspected it had been that way for decades. YUCK! Now I know why I'm so chronically sick with sinus stuff!! Will have them out next Monday to get that replaced!! Finally...answers to why I've been so sick so frequently the past several years! And when I feel so lousey I cannot focus on low carb and exericise because I'm just in survival mode. Now I have a light at the end of the tunnel....horray!!

I am so excited I found you guys. Our company is paying for WW for us. Everyone is so excited about it. I just started back on low carb so I didn't think it would be possible to do LC and WW. So, I'm enjoying your menu ideas. maybe I can do both.

Oh, Yam-Yam, I am so sorry about your brother! I lost my baby brother six years ago, also very suddenly (he was 42), and it's just so hard to believe. Praying for you and your family. I hope your sister is doing better, too.

Welcome, hockeymom! We're glad you're here. I just found out that we DID make our quota for our WW at Work class here, so I'll be back at a meeting tomorrow. They really didn't think it would happen, but I'm glad it did. Otherwise, I'd probably be WAY off track. The accountability really helps.

BUT.....I've been away from meetings for two weeks, and while I was doing great the first week, I sure did slip the second one. Sheesh. My mind just isn't wrapping around this very well. I'll just keep on plugging, though. Today's a whole new day, and I'm on plan so far. No reason for lunch or dinner to be any different!

Have a great Tuesday, all! I'll either bbl or will check back in the morning!

Glad you all are still plugging away. Me had surgery on my hand/arm on the 17th and still eating what i can get folks to fix and pick up and eat food. Only up 5 lbs since the accident, funny how being in a lot of pain takes care of the appetite. they put in plate and lots of screws so the pain will hang on for awhile longer they say, but i am way over it.then pt for several weeks.
Pam you must be near goal, you are doing so very well. yam yam so sorry for you and family. Welcome to all the new folks.

Good grief, been hit with a nasty cold that just will NOT go away but still sticking to plan nonetheless. The main frustration in this is not working out, I feel like it will affect my loss this week - I hope not but it might, who knows. Sticking to lean meats, eggs, and a little cheese to help with the intense hunger I have been feeling, I assume it's just because I'm sick.

Still sticking to SFT as low carb as possible - down 12 pounds so that's a plus!

Today - I totally lost track of my carbs but I stayed within 26pts. Ok, I lie - I stopped counting when I realized my carbs were too high. Eatting low carb and WW is hard but I think I can do it but not today (for some reason). I went to the store to look for food that was low in points but yikes - the carbs are high. So, I think I need to plan better and make my own food. Tomorrow is our first work meeting -- hurray -- I think that will help.

We had our first meeting - the leader was nice. Problem was she tried to push those WW snacks/bars and they are low in points only because they are so tiny of a portion. They are super high in carbs too. Oh goodness - I sure hope I can do LC and follow the plan. I had success yesterday - let's hope for today.

Good Luck Hockeymom.. even on doing low carb, I never ever could eat those bars....they always led me to a binge...I went to only one meeting to get the information and she was trying to sell cook books and stuff like that.. I just let it go in one ear and out the other....

I find my gripe about Weight Watchers is that they are so secretive about their plan.. that it's hard to get it online, until a few bloggers share.. but anyway I went to the first meeting and now they closed that office and moved...seems I guess economy hit them and they are consolidating in my area.. only thing I bought was the points plus 2012 calculator, I bought it for 6 bucks...it's a fun a toy to bring to the grocery store....

As I said in other post, I still haven't touched pasta or rice... I am just so nervous about trying it...

Well good luck to you. I am sure your going to do fine.. I have just messed up so many times after the initial 2 weeks I did so good...but then boom stress hit the fan.. so but a new day.. Here's to success...

Hockeymom, perhaps you should try the Simply Filling instead of points? I find it easier to stick to low carb options and don't feel constrained by a number every day - that's tough for me. You still have the weekly points to use on a splurge if you want to but you don't have to use them - I generally use them for things like cheese, which I love but isn't a Power Food unless it's fat free, which is gross. I have lost almost 14 pounds since January 3rd and only did two weeks of that time counting points, the rest has been on SFT, it does work.

Melinda I agree with you that WW makes it so tough to find info AND they change their plans quite a bit, seems like every 6 months they revamp it. I also don't like the pushing of the products - if the goal is to eat more healthy why sell all these things that are full of such junk? Perhaps they're low in points but are they good for you or even filling? Not from what I can tell.

Wishing everyone success on the plan, tweak it to make it work for you! : )

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check out Simply Filing program. I'm new at this but you're right - everyone I talk to tells me about the old/older/different plan -- so maybe they change it so they keep people rejoining? I did great yesterday but today I went over my 26 points by 2 (which wasn't bad) but the carbs were too high for me. I'm planning my next week's menu out - I think I do better if I do that. Just trying to stay low carb because if I eat them I go CRAZY.

Hi Friends,

to Hockeymom!

I am back home and very tired today. There was too much crying and eating over the loss of my brother. Then it was on to Palm Springs and just too much of every thing including climbing rocks in the desert with the kids and getting very, very sore! So much time in the pool and hot tub with them all that my skin is prune-ish It was very comforting to be with all my kids and grand kids.

The baby of the 5 grandies woke up every morning at 5:30 wanting his Gramma Yam-Yam. Did I ever tell you that's why my user name is Yam-Yam? It started with our first baby grand daughter in 1999. She kept trying and trying to say Grandma. But, it kept coming out of her mouth as "yam-yam" and it stuck.

Anyway, every morning I crawled out of bed when my DD texted that the baby was up and crying for Yam-Yam. Then I dragged self across the hallway for a pre-dawn coffee clatch with Dd and her 3 kids.

I gained 3.6 pounds this week. Ugh. Hoping it's mostly water. But really, I ate lots of carbs. I just have to get back to tracking tomorrow.

Anyway, I wanted to pop in and say a quick hello. Big shout out to you all and thank you so much for the kind words.

Hello everyone!
Eight years ago, I lost loads of weight with WW, but after a few months on plan and nearly at my goal weight, I ended up at the hospital with the diagnosis of "sand" and tiny stones in my gallbladder. The doctorīs verdict was, that it was most likely due to a too low fat diet combined with a rapid weight loss. That really scared me off WW. I never imagined it could be possible to do WW without all the "light" products and super low fat intake.

Then last night I started reading this thread for the first time. Until now, I had sort of just passed the headline with a little smile, thinking, yeah, right, as if....

But here I am. You guys convinced me that itīs worth a try. Iīve really been struggling with my weight all winter. Instead of losing, I just keep putting on more and more. Canīt seem to be able to stick with ANY plan. Not even the ones that used to be succesfull. Last night I dug out my old points calculator and a little leaflet with a list of points values. Iīm so glad I didnīt throw them away at the hight of my low carb enthusiasm. I still believe in low carb, I just canīt do 100% at the moment. I plan to follow the old points system, which Iīm familiar with. Partly because I have loads of material that Iīve paid a good deal of money to get and partly because at the moment I cannot afford to join any online programs and there are no group meetings on our island.

My program gives me 21 points per day, which seems a bit scary, but Iīm desperate enough to give it a go!

Breakfast today was greek youghurt with raspberries and stevia. 4pts

Yam Yam - don't even sweat that tiny gain, you will get back on track! What stood out to me in your post was in your signature, that you have LOST 33.2 pounds since August - so impressive! That little gain and then some will soon join those lost pounds in no time! : )

Notia - Welcome! Glad you're here and have decided to give it another go. I did WW before and stopped, not because of a medical issue (so sorry to hear about the stones, that's terrible!) but because I realized that eating within the points I was given per day was far too low in calories for me. I quit and vowed never to go back but when the new plan was announced I thought I would give it another go. I stayed on the points for two weeks then switched to Simply Filling, which for me is easier to follow. I also add more fat than they would like in the form of cheese and coconut oil. Last week I ate more than usual and I still lost 2.5 pounds! My advice to everyone is take the plan and tweak it to what works for you - I don't think anything is cookie cutter as everyone's body is different. Wishing you lots of success!

Hope everyone has a great week! : )

UGH!!! I give up! I am offically rejoining Weight Watchers next week (I'm dead broke this week with Valentine's Day and my Husband's Birthday on Friday). Low carb itself never works for me, low carb + counting points was working for awhile till I started sluffing off, I REALLY seem to need the weigh in looming over me to take it serious. I know my husband was disappointed that I had quit WW back in November (he was my biggest cheerleader while I was on it), he never said that he was disappointed out loud but I could tell. He was cheering me on while I was doing low carb but was mellower about the cheerleading .

I'll now be eating whatever I want but with an emphasis on low-ish carbs (50-60 per day), I'll go to the meetings, I'll keep track of points and continue keeping my food journal. The goal is to get to goal (135 pounds) then lower my carbs as I have no problems maintaining my weight on low carb.

I just dug out my 123 Success points slider and my Turn Around ppints slider, and tons of stuff from Points Plus, I never throw away WW stuff! I have to see what the brand spanking new program is about but will no doubt tweak it, I always do. I also can't do Low Carb 100% either and like you I really do believe in it, it's just not working as well as WW does for me. I guess I need higher carbs to lose, 20-30 per day does nothing....though it is great for maintaining!

Good Luck Becky.. I could only afford to go one week...because registration was free.. and I could get the program!!! So I don't go to meetings myself or online, can't afford it either...I lost a lot on Low Carb, but it just stopped working, and I found my habit of no portion control, made it worse on low carb...I still haven't had pasta or rice yet....LOL I am afraid!! LOL...

That is my big problem too, portion control. Counting points really keeps me in line but the meetings are an even bigger motivation to keep in step. Finding the $14.00 per week is a challange some weeks but I have to make it a priority. I keep it in the back of my head that after I reach goal the meetings are free. I actually did what you did once, I joined, bought all the books and did it myself...

Pasta and rice scared the heck out of me too...but when I was doing just strait WW last time I was eating high carb (pasta, rice, corn peas, carrots etc...) and losing way better than low carb.

But that's just me, as they say...your milage may vary. I'm actually going to take it easy on the wheat and rice this time but it will not be afraid of it. I'm thinking low carb breakfast and dinner, higher carb lunch, we'll see how that goes. I am staying away from the soda this time too, I really don't need that addiction again.
