I too am maintaining. I would like to lose more but this is as good as it gets for now. Every other plan I tried, my weight would shoot right back up and even higher. This really works.

I should explain that I have not reached to goal yet, I am at 187/188, but that is usually when I start going back up to high weight.
I am happy with what I have now.

Hi Everyone!! I am maintaining/or up 2-3 pounds.
Summer is always hard for me. Since I am going back to school I will be more regimented and structured, so probably will get serious again.

Still would like to get below 150. My gynecologist said that he was happy I was maintaining. Told him I wanted to lose more, and he said "sometimes your body just doesn't work the way we want it to as we get older".
It definitely is more difficult, but I know I can eventually do it.

Glad to see that some of the "oldies" still are here. Welcome to all the newbies!

Thanks Mary for keeping this going, and congrats for maintaining!

Have a great day and weekend!

Greetings,

I decided to shake things up a bit. I started the 17 day diet last week. It is similar but slightly different than CTFLC. I think when I reach maintenance I will blend the two maintenance plans. I’ll check and see it there is a thread for the 17 day diet.

Hope all of you are doing well!

Let us know if you find a thread.
I think it is time for me, also, to shake things up.

Hi! I'm not sure if I am doing this correctly, but here is a link to the thread.

17 day diet

You can find it under "Other Plans". The book is an easy read, I got mine on Amazon. there are 4 cycles of 17 days with the last being maintenance. It is simiular but you get fruit and yogurt! So, I welcomed the change. I lost 7 pounds the first week whch is exactly what I lost when I first started CTFLC.

I'll keep you posted. Have a wonderful day!

Greetings!

Hope everyone is doing well. I decided to try my own thing. I have had some down time and have spent this time researching healthy eating plans for weight loss and maintenance. Without exaggerating I must have visited over 20 web sites. I found valuable information that I feel came from trustworthy sites.

I found a consistent message. Simply stated: Burn more calories than you consume. Eat healthy. Lose slow; .5 to 1 pound a week. Keep a positive attitude and don’t give up.

The following is a list of weight loss tips that were repeated in almost every article I read about healthy eating and weight loss.

• Balance your diet; don’t omit a food group; vary your menu
fresh fruits
fresh vegetables
whole grains
lean protein
low fat dairy
• Cut down on sugary and processed foods (empty calories)
• Eat more fiber
• Control portion size
• Eat 4 or 5 small meals a day (avoid hunger; don’t skip meals)
• Don’t be overly restrictive (keep portions small)
• Drink water
• Get some exercise
• Keep a log of what you eat
• Join a support group

I have decided to follow the above guide lines. I will incorporate some of the good tips I learned from following different plans; 17DD, CTFLD & SB.

I started this last week and am down 1 pound. I am embracing whole grains. Has anyone ever made quiona? I bought some and hope to try it soon. I am in the process of researching recipes.

Hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is safe from the storms.

Hi Everyone!
Happy Labor Day!
Started school so am busy and haven't been here in a while.
Debbie good luck, those guidelines make a lot of sense!
Nettie, you look GREAT! Keep it up!
Mary you are the best for keeping this going even though it is slow>
Good luck to everyone here!
Again I am maintaining, but need to continue losing, but right now like some of you I feel that is fine.

I lost another pound. It is slow... But I know that is good.

I know I can maintain I just wish I could get rid of 20 or so pounds and be on maintenance. I have a way to go before I get there.

One day at a time, all in good time... I am so impatient.

I just had a carb up day. It was hard to stop eating. I know this is going to take some time for me... Getting used to eating carbs without guilt or binging!! I do really well on carb down days.

Cynthialynn... I only have about 7-8 pounds left. What do you do for maintenance? Great job!!!

I stayed on Wendy's maintenance (weeks 7 & 8) for 2 months after losing the weight - then came up with my own plan...
2 carb downs a week
2 carb ups a week
1 cheat day a week
2 baseline

I don't really do them in any order although I do try to a carb down after a cheat day. Everything seems to balance out for the week and I have had no problem maintaining. Sometimes I will switch it up and do 5 baseline days and a cheat weekend. So I'm just really winging it!Anytime I go on vacation or have special events - I eat what I want and then do a few carb downs in a row (as many as needed) to get back to my original weight. I went on a European vacation for 10 days and ate anything I wanted. When I got home the scale showed a 7 lb gain. I did 3 carb downs in a row and it disappeared. I will eat like this for the rest of my life.

BTW Norma...
Congrats on being so close to goal!
Wendy's plan is the only one that has ever worked for me for the long haul.
I've always lost weight on other plans - but never managed to keep it off until Wendy's plan came along. I'm so grateful!

Cynthialynn... You're plan sounds so smart! We all have to find a way to eat that works best with OUR body. I know that, for me, I need to keep my body guessing. This plan is so genius! I haven't weighed in a week (I have a phobia of the scale!!) but my clothes are loose!! YEA!!

Loose clothes...yay for you!!!
The scale really doesn't matter - it is all about how your clothes fit.
I use to weigh everyday - and it drove me crazy. Now I weigh in no more than once a month.

I totally found this group by accident. I had not heard of Crack, Conquer, Wendy Chant or anything. I saw Chris Powell on Dr Oz and he was doing something similiar with very obese people. So I looked for something like that and this came up. I have a lot of weight to lose, I have very bad knees, have to walk with a cane almost all the time and exercise is awfully painful...but I need to lose at least 100 lbs. I am sure I would feel much better.

So to make a long story short I ordered both books. Got crack and have read it....doesn't seem too complex. Conquer on the way.

B U T does it really work, gals? Or have I just spent another $20 foolishly?

What's the difference in the two books? TIA for any info, Elaine

YES it works!!! It was recommended by Wendy Chant to start with "crack" . I have done both and while crack is confusing until you "learn" the program ~ conquer in my opinion is VERY confusing.

Good Luck on your journey and someone will answer any questions you may have.

Mixing it up for me... really makes a difference! We had some friends over last night and I was able to enjoy myself (with NO guilt.. that's tough for me) and have a few carbs. I was in control and I didn't stuff myself!! What other plan can you do that on??!!

I am on my 14th day on Conquer... I did Crack a couple of years ago. Like Mary said, start with her first book. Less confusing. But after the eight weeks, I would try Conquer.

Thanks for the info and the welcome. We are excited as the low carb thing kinda left us wanting but my husband found out that wheat was the cause of his allergy problem...so that was a good outcome from doing low carb. We are starting in the morning. Sounds funny to say we are starting on crack in the morning...lol

Hey, I crack!! hee hee!

Hi Elaiensmith.. I also have a wheat/gluten problem. I sufferd with it for years, not knowing what was wrong with me. Low carb was a life saver for me. This woe is fun. Something different every few days. I am doing Conquer... Today I have a grapefruit day. That just means I have a 1/2 gf with my first two meals. It keeps my body guessing for sure!

Good luck YOU can do it!!!! Deplete week is the VERY most important week and needs to be followed exactly ~ after that it is forgiving.

Welcome Elaine!
This plan definitely works! I lost all my weight on crack - I just kept repeating the 8 week cycles until I reached goal. I did very little exercise - especially in the beginning and lost just fine. Conquer seems to place a lot more emphasis on exercise - so if I were you I would stay on crack for at least a few cycles before moving on to conquer - or just stay on crack. Whatever works better for you. I totally agree that deplete week is very important! If you do it correctly - you will jump start your weight loss and will never have to repeat the week again!!! Best of luck to you!!!!!
