Funny I just rembered an old friend who lost all his weight eating only one
meal a day and has been following this plan for about 30 years.
That is amazing! I wish he could share some tips with us!

Thanks for the welcome SkinnyGenes Fit!

This is my 6th day.
Since starting IF today was the first morning my scales didn't show any loss. But I do feel thinner. .
Has anyone kept record of inches lost?

Hi All...sorry so MIA lately! Been so busy this week. Between prepping for my upcoming weekend away to Vegas, doing laundry and packing for myself as well as my 3 kiddos (going to Grandma's!), swim lessons started back up, girl scout meetings, school book fairs....ahhhh- all that on top of my regular daycare day craziness. Throw in the time change still keeping me up at night and I feel like a walking zombie these last few days.

have to catch up on past threads, but with a quick skim it looks like everyone is doing pretty well so far!

Notia~WELCOME! Glad to hear you are doing so well already. I check inches every now and then, but not very consistantly. besides, I never write it down and usually forget from one time to the next to be able to know if there was a real change. All and all, yes, I have definitely lost inches. Now I have to work much harder to see either scale or tape measure movement!

EXACTLY!!! who has time for all that sitting around and eating non-sense! I'm happy enjoying my meals later at night when I'm not feeling rushed, dragged in 5 directions at once, and when little fingers aren't making their way into my bowl so that I can "share" with them!

Skinny,
With IF it takes a little longer to feel results. I didnt notice much until about the 6th week. Its just like the weight drops off over night.

This is good to know. Thanks for the encouragement. I'll be more patient and keep at it.

The good thing is, I'm not giving up, nor have I wanted to wonder off and try another plan.

Boy am I looking forward to the morning after THAT night.

Today is my 7th day on IF. And the first day I got really hungry about two hours before my feeding window. I was also feeling really cold. I tried to think if I'd done something differently yesterday compared to the previous days, but couldn't think of anything. Now I'm two hours into my feeding window and have been eating quite a lot.

I guess this is my 4th day so I get to eat all day long.... Funny the eating day is
a little easier than the fasting day. Tomorow I may just go to doing an eating window
instead of doing an up day down day.

Does anyone take a break once in a while or is it everyday for you?

So far, it's been every day for me. But then again I just started my second week.

Just before Christmas I bought a lovely dress that was a size too small. I decided to fit into it by easter. Just a week ago my goal seemed unachieveble, since i hadn't lost any weight since the beginning of December. Now all of a sudden this WOE has given me new hope. Could I actually drop a dress size in a month or am I being too unrealistic????

I'm definitely taking a break once in a while. I LOVE IF during the week, because I don't like breakfast, and I HATE packing a lunch. I'm excited to get home and start preparing dinner in the evenings, and because my family has a fairly regimented schedule during the week, having a specific eating window works great. However, on the weekend our schedule is all over the place, and the there's no telling where I'll be or what I'll be doing during my eating window.

So for me, IF is my eating plan for the work week, but on the weekend I'll probably revert to just eating as I feel hungry. Of course, with either plan, it's all low carb.

I'm doing the Master Cleanse detox (fast/liquid diet) right now. I'm trying to make it 30 days without eating. I did it once before for 21 days.

Today is my 4th day without food so far. Wish me luck.

If you want to follow my progress, I'm making a video blog of how I feel each day. Just go to Youtube.com and search for PTIRELAND

Well, I have made a few feeble attempts at intermittent fasting in the past. I'd post here once or twice then give up on the 'plan'. This time I'm considering it a way of living. This coming Monday I will have 3 weeks under my belt.

I have been having a low-carb bar at around 1:00 each day at work, then when I arrive home at 4:30 I eat a filling meal and I'm through for the day. It's not a certain amount of hours, but I try to keep my window from 1:00 till 6:00. Sometimes I start an hour earlier and sometimes extend it another hour to include another snack.

As for weight loss, I've only lost 6 lbs. This isn't much but I was steadily gaining, reaching my highest weight ever of 223 lbs. Beyond weight loss (which I do want badly) there are other things about IF that I've noticed. These are things that make it worth living an IF lifestyle even if I never lose another pound.

1) My face has cleared up so much. My complexion is clear and smooth,
replacing my problem with adult acne.

2) I am no longer constipated; for the first time in my life I am experiencing
being regular. I'm lovin' this!!!

3) My sugar cravings are dwindling even though I do allow myself whatever
I want for my evening meal. Since I feel in control of my eating schedule
now, I will begin to work on eating healthy.

4) My blood sugar swings are gone. If I eat several small meals per day, my
blood sugar is all over the place.

5) My daily after-lunch grogginess is completely gone. No more nodding off
at work!

6) My acid reflux is under control and I'm sleeping soundly and comfortably.

7) My energy levels are much higher and I'm more productive at work as
well as home.

8) My cankles are now ankles. They may still be chubby, but I was retaining
fluid like crazy before IF. My face even looks like I've lost 20 lbs. instead
of just 6!

These are a few things that are making IF so worth it! Like I said, I will be working on the nutrition part starting Monday. I'm not going to get crazy strict because that sets me up to fail. But I am going to incorporate more protein and less sugar and starch in my daily diet. Also I will be adding more veggies.

I will never go back to struggling to plan 6 meals and snacks each day and counting everything going in my mouth. I decided I needed to find a way of eating that fits with my hunger. I've never been a breakfast eater, but I've forced myself for years believing that it is the most important meal of the day. Eating early just makes me ravenous for the entire day.

There will be special occasions that will disrupt my schedule from time to time, but I'm not going to sweat it. I'm feeling successful and confident and more in control than I ever have before!!!

Welcome Carol Ann and Dasiey!
I love this thread because it's so active and everybody seems very supportive.

Also we had a really beautiful day today. It's starting to feel like spring.

Last night I made a big mistake.I was feeling a bit hungry and decided to have some nuts while watching tv with my husband. This morning I felt really terrible! Almost like hung over. That made me decide that the next time I feel hungry at night, I'll just have some tea or water. No more munching! I wonder what's happening all of a sudden. The first days on IF were really easy for me. I didn't get hungry until about a half an hour before my window opened. Now for the past couple of days I've been feeling hungry several times during fasting hours.

Yesterday I found a new job. I live close to a tourist resort and only work during the tourist season April-October. I wanted to change jobs this year, since my old boss owes me too much money and it looks like I'll need to report him and take him to court. Anyway, I applied for two jobs and was offered both of them! Couldn't believe my luck. Needless to say I chose the one with considerably higher salary This, however, means I'll need to change my eating schedule since I'll be working 3pm to 10pm. I thought eating from 9 to 2 would suit my schedule, but the change will be tough. Fortunately I won't start until April 5th so I'll have plenty of time to get used to the new window.
