Hi everyone~ I think I've had the proverbial thump on the head~ in the form of a dream two nights ago~ I was slim, like when I was young, but in this dream, I was my current age. I felt really good~ had energy, wasn't depressed, was active, healthy~ I think it's time I stopped being afraid of failure. Time to go for my dream, make it real.

So, I'm here to recommit. My immediate goals are to stop these allergies/asthma attacks that are sapping my energy~ I've been googling and find support that fasting improves both. I'm going to work harder with the Fast-5 plan~ I know I can do it, but I get lazy and have bouts of depression/self-pity and eat something wrong that triggers all the old cravings. Need to find a better pacifier.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing good, staying on track~ have a great day and thanks for reading this~

Nady~ I really do think that fasting has improved my asthma...especially while exercising (mine is exercise induced vs. allergies)! I think you should definitly take your dream has a sign for new things to come! Glad you are back on track

We are (getting) snowed in again! Have gotten about 4-6 inches out there so far today and expecting it to continue until Thursday morning. I think I'm working harder than the plows out there...haven't seen much of them at all today. I am really hoping that parents use common sense and come pick up kids a little early before it gets really bad out there...wishful thinking! Of course tomorrow is expected to be much worse than today.

I did pull out a turkey from the freezer though last night and plan on cooking it up tomorrow. If we are going to be trapped inside, might as well make the most of it

I have to admit I'm glad we're not included in this snowy weather everyone is getting right now. We've had SO much of it and I'm so tired of it. We have rain and someone said we have thunderstorms coming but that I can live with! Heading to the chiropractor shortly and looking so forward to an adjustment! Do any of you watch Biggest Loser? I watch it every week. That's my plan for tonight.. It's my down day with JUDDD so I'm having an Atkins bar with some cream cheese tonight while I watch it. Looking forward to my evening after driving an hour both ways to get adjusted!

Just checking in as I run thru. My scales are holding steady, and with the stress level, that is a good thing. Sun is out, and we didn't get as much snow as a lot of people, so life is good!!

Plugging away here. Bought a Wii at a benefit auction Sunday night. Any suggestions as to what games and/or attachments and accessories would help me make the most of it?????

The kids and I really enjoy the wii (Especially since we've been stuck inside so much lately!!) The Wii Fit Plus with the wii board- is has a lot of fun exercise type games (great for kids and adults, but not too terribly challenging). I picked up the EA sports active 2 with is much more of a workout, but still entertaining! Other than the wii board the only other accesories I have is the "old school" style remote (oblong shape with directional pad and A and B button, like the old nintendo ones use to be) control that attaches to the wii mote...I like this while playing MY GAMES like super mario bros Oh wait, I forgot I recently snagged the push up grips to put on top of the wii board, but haven't actually used it yet. Hope you enjoy it !!

Not much movement on the scale here...awaiting TOM- thinking today and although woke up feeling blah and bloated was only up .2??? Hoping for a nice little loss afterward. Yesterday was an IF day and today I definitely have a munchie naggering (definitely TOM!), so although not a complete fat fast day, I'm staying lower carb/higher fat...breyer's LC icecream may very well be a treat later though

Late to the party on answering this, but I find that as long as I stay low in carbs, I don't usually experience a lot of hunger. The only exception I've had to this is when it is bitterly cold and I stay cold all day -- then I want to eat, probably because my body is burning more calories than normal by trying to keep me warm.

Good for you, Nady! We're at a great time of life to be having that kind of message arrive.

I was on four different asthma meds at one time and have gotten off all of them. I only ever use a rescue inhaler now when I fly or am in an allergen-intensive environment (like a smoky bar). Removing all the allergens you can -- from your diet and environment -- does seem to help a lot with asthma. I know it sounds obvious but it took that effort to get off asthma meds for me to finally realize that even if I loved a food, if it gave me indigestion or caused my face to break out or some other reaction that I should stop eating it -- my body was sending a message. So even things I really loved, like salsa, pretty much had to go buh-bye. But the positive effects in my body showed up right away.

The other tip that helped me right away was removing anything that could harbor dust, mold, mildew, or pet hair from my bedroom. So, I took out the bookshelves, papers, knicknacks, etc. So, even if I haven't turned into Martha Stewart in the rest of my house, my bedroom stays decluttered and immaculate. If you think about it, we spend more time there usually than in the rest of the house, so I guess it makes sense.

I also think IF helped with controlling my asthma and allergies, though its effect wasn't as quick or dramatic as the other two changes. But IF generally cuts your consumption overall and your consumption of allergens and environmental toxins generally.

Keep us posted on how it's going for you. Congratulations on your commitment!

don't come visit me. My luck is running out.

My dad had heart attack this morning, and 7 bypass tomorrow morning. So I will try and touch in over next couple of days, but may not be much.

But my eating will probably suffer. Tonight, Iced Coffee from Burger King, and had fries, too. But no time for lunch......

Life is good, and all will be as it should be. We knew this was coming, so not a shock. And I had no clients scheduled for tomorrow or Saturday. May not get much work done, but could be worse......

WOE: Giving JUDDD a try!
I am interested in learning more about IF. I used to eat only one meal a day, but was eating all the wrong things when I did eat. It was just natural for me to only eat that one meal. Then I began reading and thought that if I didn't eat all those small meals, then I would never be healthy, nor would I be able to lose weight.

I tried the link that LCShadows gave on page one, but the post doesn't seem to be there anymore. Is there still a compilation of IF links somewhere?

As of Sunday morning, I am .6 away from breaking out of the 130's!! BUTT....(you'll see the pun in a moment)....took the kids sledding on Sunday afternoon and let's just say- Big Hill, Tiny Flimsy Sled, Snow Ramp and 3 persuasive kids led to a very painful and bruised tailbone injury (not to mention the - OUCH!!! I would like to think I at least got some serious air and looked good doing it before landing flat down directly on my @ss!! I am now popping ibuprofen like candy every 4 hours and manuevering the 1 butt cheek sitting position every time I sit down. I have been up just a bit on the scale even after a full fast on Sunday and IFing yesterday. Thinking the injury may be playing a small part in it?? Hoping at least!

As my usual Mix-It-Up eating, I'm following my IF day yesterday with an egg fast day today. Definitely not my favorite, but hoping it may help

Melissa~ I'm not sure if the links are up and working, but please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Many of us are following IF plans- JUDDD, fast five, eat stop eat, etc. I find the combo of IFing and lowcarb to be a winner for sure

Melissa, they removed our sticky of IF links. You can start at fast-5.com for a free book you can download. That tells you about the plan that many of us follow -- basically consuming all your food within an eating window (usually 5 hours, hence the name Fast5) and then fasting for the other 19 hours each day. There is also a site call "IF Life" that has a blog and info on various plans. Michael Eades' blog also has some info on it, if you do a search there.

Great Site...did you come across TheRetiredDieter? Basically a blog of one guys journey doing IFing , but also some interesting articles included. Lyle McDonald's bodyrecomposition site also has some info on IF and Robb Wolf's site has delved into combining IFing with a Paleo style eating...

Happy Reading

I was really wondering this myself, but after two weeks it is Much better! Still can't do floor exercises like full body crunches or v-ups, but at least I can sit and stand without pain. Luckily I'm thinking it was just a good bruising

Hope all are doing well. I am getting back into the swing of things after a crazy week with a houseful of kids during vacation. Actually I think a few little indulgences were just what my body needed. I think my metabolism needed a serious boost. I was stuck and bouncing around between 132-135 for a couple of weeks. Scale now seems to be steadily heading in the right direction and body fat % is actually lower now than when I was at my low 2 pounds lighter. Hoping the trend continues!

Glad to hear it is going so well for you! So what plan are you following (if any)? Are you staying low/lower carb during your eating window ? I love the versatility of IF and the lack of prepping and planning compared to eating 5-6 times a day.

I am following fast-5, 12-5 or 1-6. I'm not putting any stipulations on what I can or cannot have. However, when it's time to eat, I'm making good choices. I break my fast with fruit & veggies, then have my main meal. I also have a dessert at 3PM. I have my last meal here at work. I released 4.6 pounds since starting. I love the freedom IFing offers .

Just de-lurking to wave hi to Meek! I'm following the board even though my main focus right now is JUDDD. I have about 15 pounds to lose and then I'd like to try to switch to IF for maintenance using JUDDD or even 24 hour fast to correct when needed. I do use IF on my down days with JUDDD in order to stay at a 500 calorie or less day. Just wanted to say HI!

Hi every one.
This is a nice read. I would like to know more and maybe do along with Juddd.
Fasting for me is pretty easy. I think the hardest part of fasting is 2 days,On the 3 day I feel great. But have not done that in long time.
Keep posting tips .
Nice to meet you and hi Meeks.
