I think this is a good plan if you can keep your diet low-carb. It's not for me though. Like I would suggest to anyone looking to lose weight, find a plan that works for you and you can maintain as a life style and do that. Unfortunately this is not one of those plans but it was fun to try.

So far so good. But this afternoon I got hit with the tireds, and suspect blood sugar.......Wasn't a real routine morning. Had new foal (gorgeous) but noticed old mare not acting right. Ended up having to put her down. Then office work stacked up all morning, so skipped lunch and worked......... |

batlou, it was fun hearing about your experiment. Good luck with your workouts and your diet plan.
Sorry to hear about your mare, Karen. ![]() Congratulations on sticking to your plan. Sounds like you are doing really well. I wandered off-plan this week when I took on two large freelance projects on top of my regular job. The last of them should be out by Wed., though, so I'm planning to get organized for next week and back on plan. Mostly, I've gotten buried in work, lost track of time, and then looked up to find it was hours past the time I should have eaten supper and closed the window. So I need to straighten that out. I'm thinking maybe I'll start setting my watch alarm to go off an hour before window-closing time. |

Hi, Amandy! Hope all is going well with you.
I went shopping today and got 6 kinds of vegetables and roast. Guess my vegie-holic ways are persisting with me into the warmer season. |

Hi all - I've spent a few days following this thread (after ages drooling over the "food porn" threads on the Atkins forum LOL); I have been back on induction-level LC for a few weeks, dropped 7 lbs, then gained 3, and have been sitting there. I've always been a slow loser with a really bad metabolic syndrome issue, but it gets frustrating to come so far only to stall out right at 200 and stay there.
So yesterday I became one of the IF people. My window opens at 5 each day and closes at 11. I decided not to work up to it because I know me - I'd never get there. Better to go "cold turkey" on the breakfast and lunch thing. This morning I'd dropped 1 lb (even though I felt as if I had eaten too much during my window, including two glasses of red wine), but I'm not holding my breath - that happens to me a lot - down one lb, back up. I'm sticking with this, though - I'm optimistic. I might push the window back to 6 instead of 5 soon, though if I continue losing at a 6-hour window, I'll keep it there. I'm envious of you who can have your windows at mid-day - I'm an evening snacker/craver, so it's much safer for me to keep my window open in the evening hours - if I do mid-day, I'll cheat in the evenings. Glad to be here. And Karen - sorry about your mare. And what a beautiful little foal! |

2 weeks, pretty much on IF plan. Scales arent moving much at all, but the shapes are shifting a little. This morning, had to check to make sure I wasn't putting on DH jeans. (He is size larger than me) So mine are fitting easier........
![]() ![]() Now if I am patient, maybe the scale will start moving........ |

I am not really doing intermittant fasting as I last posted (meaning for me, not the Fast Five, I am interested in the concept of doing a longer fast once a week or so, still interested in that, but not not). I am moving into a period of doing a low glycemic eating thing mixed with my usual calorie counting and exercise. If I could add IF (not Fast Five) into that mix, I might get somewhere, but first the sugar must go.
Hi, all! Sorry to pop in and out. |

I've done intermittent fasting for 5 days so far, and have lost 4 lbs. I hope this keeps going on, though TOM approaches so I'm expecting a few days of water weight to come back on. Meanwhile, it's going well.
So busy-up, y'all! |

Someone dropped by tonight, during my eating, so my meal got stretched out half hour beyond my time. Hate it when that happens...............
Hope holiday was good for people. Wind was Terrible here! |

Hi everybody. I'm chiming in today. I haven't been under 200 since I was 15, and even then I was obese. I've definitely done everything under the sun, and most of them were not successful. The things that were successful, I couldn't do long term, so I gained it back and THEN some.
I'm in my "and THEN some" stage. I've IF'd for 2 weeks, May 8th to 21st.. (ate only dinner every day) and went from 263 to 249. It was SO easy. But I got a nasty sinus infection from a co-worker and went back to my crazy eating obsession. For some reason, that comforts me. I seriously need to break through that mental issue. Anyway, I gained A LOT of that back over last week *(and Memorial Day weekend didn't help) and my stomach is in KNOTS. I felt soooo amazing during IF, and I've felt like nothing but garbage (you are what you eat) while I stopped IFing. Today I start again! I think this would have been VERY long-term if I hadn't gotten sick so early in. I let my baby-ish mind get the best of me. This time, I'm in it to win it. Good to meet you guys!

I'm really enjoying the IF. My window starts between 12 and 1 and goes until 6-7. I have had some instances when I WAY overeat in the evening, but I'm loving the actual feeling of satiety that I get because I can eat more in the two meals I do have.

Went off the deep end over the weekend - was up all night doing Relay for Life Saturday night, and did not do IF. Next day I was out of control, between napping and eating. Then started TOM. Oy. Excuses excuses. I'm back on it today. Hopefully will undo quickly what I've done.
Here's a problem - a good friend that I rarely get to see asked if I wanted to meet for lunch tomorrow. I do my IF from 5 to 10 p.m. because that's the time of day I'm likely to get out of control and snack. So I asked him if he could meet for dinner instead, and told him about my IF. He knows my crazy insulin issues and my reasons for doing this, so hopefully he'll be able to. How do you all handle these types of situations, where people want to meet for a meal outside your IF time? |

a walk in the park a cup of tea/coffee window shopping a workout at the gym dinner instead (like you said) a playdate with dogs/kids a bikeride kudos to you for being honest with him about your IF lifestyle and to him for being open-minded. I've seen many people express negative opinions about IF'ing. Last edited by girl81; 06-07-2011 at 12:15 AM.. |

![]() 2.5 lbs dropped back off last night, but still 4 lbs up (the weekend off plus TOM jacked me up about 7 lbs! arrrrrrgh!). Fasting window from 6 to 11 tonight - I'm a night owl, and am up late working, sleep late in the morning, so that's the time that works best for me. |

I have been doing a 12 oz coffee every morning, with almond milk and SF Davinci syrup in it. Noon has been varying, because if I work thru lunch, I just take leftovers from home. This week I did a subway sandwich. Then for supper, I try and do a lettuce salad and a meat, and then chose whether I do a small dessert (like 4 oreos) or go with something starchy. But that is what I have been sticking to, and not getting tired of the food (plan) If I think I am getting hungry or running out of gas before supper, I fill in with a couple handfuls of nuts or summer sausage. So far, so good.

Karen,
Just a couple suggestions... I would cut out anything besides water outside the window. I would open the window with light foods such as a salad or soup before progressing to something heavy like starches or meats. Last edited by girl81; 06-08-2011 at 01:13 AM.. |

I do have one caloric item outside my 5-hour window (which is always in the evenings when I'm most at risk to graze). In the morning, I have a large coffee with 1 oz half and half and 2 splenda packets. It has calories because of the half&half. So far that hasn't done me harm yet, and helps me to keep my cravings under control until my eating window begins at 5 or 6.
