Just get the low fat yogurt with no extra sugar added. All yogurts should have active/live cultures in them, so that is the probiotic serving. I have plain greek yogurt and I eat my fruit separately rather than get yogurt with fruit. It makes what looks meager into something more substantial! Note about cottage cheese: I think only the Breakstone liv active has live/active cultures; regular cottage cheese does not and you can't have that until Cycle 3, so you need to read the labels.
thanks. we do have plain greek yogurt in a greek container. it's not american. i'd have to figure out the serving size somehow. i will look in a bit ... we do have breakstone cottage cheese. small 4pk and larger if u can catch that in.

Yes looks like two Sweetpeas --- Nice to meet you all !!
Thanks for the first day info.
Question for you--
Hot water with lemon first thing in the morning is fine, but does it have to be hot water the rest of the day? Can I just drink ice water with ice?
Also - I can't stand yogurt --- What can I sub? Cottage Cheese? if so what can I put in it? I can't eat it plain.

I am hoping that I will be able to get some of my usual food while travelling in Italy next month. I don't want to go too overboard w the olives, cheese, wine, bread, did I mention wine? LOL

Greek yogurt is just yogurt that is drained of the whey and has a consistency and flavor of sour cream. I buy the breakstone cottage cheese 4 pk but it has to be the liv active. Regular cottage cheese does not have live/active cultures in it. Also you do not have to eat this. If you want to, you can just take a probiotic supplement 2x day which you can probably buy in a health food store in the refrigerated case.

LOVE YOUR PEEPS!!!

The morning lemon water and the remaining daily water can be any temperature--from what I understand.

Yogurt has live/active cultures in it--that is the key--probiotics. If you don't like it, you can get supplements from the health food store, usually in the refrigerated section. The only cottage cheese that I know of that has live cultures is breakstones liv active in the 4 pack. Regular cottage cheeses is not allowed until Cycle 3, I believe--haven't read that far ahead.

On the personal side--I have 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson!

Not traditional at all.

I was reading my book last night and this morning. I really want to give this diet a try but I'm afraid of getting "tired" of the food fast? We're going to the store tonight and I don't know if I should get the foods that I will need for this plan. I did look at the before and after pictures - amazing!!! I must say!!

Kind, how are you doing?

Other than not eating the grains or the starchy veggies for 17 days, how much different is this from WW?

Can you get something called Yakult? Dr M mentions that in the book (? p 46). I haven't seen it in stores in the US.

I read it helps with IBS. I wonder if they have this at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's? I'll do a bit of research.

They sell this product at a couple of family owned stores in my area.

I shop at Whole Foods and checked all of the Kefir last weekend and didn't see anything called Yakult. Let me know if you find it at Trader Joe's. There is one close by to the Whole Foods.

Hey Sweetpea!

Coffee is considered "negative" water" so if you drink 8 oz of coffee, you need to add another 8 oz of water to your daily water. Also, I can't drink black coffee. No dairy is allowed on C1. However, I am going to buy some fat free half & half this weekend and depending on what the scale says on Sunday, I will decide whether or not to use it.

Oh yeah! I remember all those tempting WW goodies! I love the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches too. I read on some other forum for 17DD that this person eats 1 sq of Ghiradelli dark choc each night--something like 55 cal per square--and individually wrapped for portion control.

It took me a bit of time going food shopping last Saturday...I can't imagine doing it w kids!

I will look for that chocolate.

Today, I'm just tagging along for the ride. I don't get out M-F w/ the babies being small. I don't go grocery shopping w/ the kids. Dh is home on the weekends and he watches them while I go out for a day at the salon, shop, pay bills, etc... I take my 7 year old w/ me once a month to the salon so she can get her hair done and then we run to the purse shop downtown italy. Carpisa. or Niki. I hit the sale rack. Score! A $30 bag for $15 or less. Nice!

Good morning ladies, I haven't had time to go back and read all the posts but just want to mark my spot for today! I'll go back and read in a bit....

I did overlook someone asking about coffee...I drink several cups a day and I still lose well drinking it. I can drink it black though so it wasn't too bad to not have my beloved cream.

In the book there is a section on hunger/fullness meter (in my book it is on pg 39 in the chapter for Cycle 1).

Shari asked the same question about lemon water or in this case, green tea--from what I've read in the book and elsewhere, it doesn't matter if you drink it hot or iced, as long as you drink it w/your meals.

Mine didn't have a DVD either. I think if you ordered the book from Dr M web site they send you the DVD. I got my book from a book store.
