it's a book by mark sisson. he has a website called mark's daily apple that has tons of information about it. it's like paleo. he bases his exercise and nutrition plan on the way "grok" (his name for the caveman) lived. it is lower carb, but higher than the traditional atkins model. i think it's fantastic and i am in process of transitioning over.

one major difference is no dairy, but many who follow his plan include dairy still. i definitely suggest checking out his website.

I am following the Primal Blue Print and it has gotten my A1C into check. I just had blood work done and my A1C is now down to 5.8

Hoping to get it down to 5.2 or lower.

I LOVE this type of WOE. Going paleo has done wonders for me. I'm trying to lose more weight, so I'm not eating berries and cheese, but I'm definitely loving it. Mark's style is wonderful - losing the stress about eating every three hours is priceless. I listen to my body and feed it as necessary, without many patterns or any specific order. I'm working out quite a bit, and my energy levels are soaring!!

WOE: no guilt allowed
I've been on board the PB train for about 2.5 months. I'm down 19 lbs so far, and am really happy with the WOE. I do allow dairy in the form of a glass of raw milk a few times a week and a little cheese here and there, but not every day.

I've been checking out the daily apple, interesting.
Its pretty much what I'm already doing. Meats, fruits, veggies and nuts. But I do eat cheese, giving up dairy is gonna be very hard for me, so it will be a work in progress!

I have been slowly upping the IF. I started out at 6-8 hours and I am up to about 14 hours now.

I will have to cut it out for a couple of months so I can get on track with my thyroid and adrenal gland treatments, so I will just do PBP and eat when I am hungry instead of worrying about training my body not to eat for hours.........

I will pick it back up after my body has gotten lined out.

That sounds like a great idea, LeanLioness. It's very important for your body to get used to your meds before doing anything else with your diet.

I think that I will be able to stick to this WOE for life. I don't feel deprived and I just love the flexibility it allows. I've never felt better!!

I hear ya!!! I LOVE cheese as well, but only after I pretty much removed cheese and cream from my diet I started to see better numbers in the measuring tape and the scale. I might eat controlled portions of cheese in maintenance

WOE: Primal Blueprint
Start Date: August 12, 2009
I've been Primal for a few months now. I love it. Between Atkins and Primal, I'm down 35 lbs total. I started exercising 2 months ago as well and that's when I REALLY saw my body start to change. I was already doing Atkins so I didn't think going Primal would be a huge difference, but it was. Giving up artificial sweetners, cutting way back on dairy, cutting out processed bars and meats and focusing more on organics/naturally raised meats made me feel better and got the scale moving again. On Atkins, I never did things like make my own salad dressing...now I do so I can control excactly what goes into it and so I can eat as freshly as possible. I love the lifestyle and am slowly adding in more and more of it's components (just started my workouts barefoot this week). This went hand and hand with decisions I'd made for our family to eat more organically, seasonally and locally as well as more naturally/humanely raised meats - fits right in with the Primal philosophy.

@ kimmie - Way to go!! I love this woe too. Learning more about this organic/unprocessed way of eating has been a quite interesting journey. I'm quite happy with the results so far, and I don't feel I'm on a "diet" anymore - it's like brushing my teeth by now

@ porcupine - you're gonna LOVE the book! I think Mark recently published a recipe book, I want to get that one as well. Recipes on his blog are out there tasty and easy to make. His take on exercise is quite eye opening as well - After reading the book I realized that all my good intentions were doing more harm than good

I absolutely love PB. I feel amazing and love eating this way. I still haven't been able to kick the dairy habit, but I'm going to try to do so slowly but surely......

I doubt I'll ever eat another way again, and for me to say something like that is pretty huge.

WOE: Primal Atkins
Finally! A PB thread!

I was doing Atkins DANDR (OWL) when I needed to do an anti-yeast diet and kick the dairy (among other things). I had already been eating whole foods with homemade foods and seldom used sweeteners. I looked at Primal Blueprint for additional help and found the recipes very useful as my Atkins WOE included lots of dairy and PB did not.

So I guess right now I'm doing a Primal Atkins thing without nuts or berries at this time because of the anti-yeast diet. I haven't explored the IF yet. I eat ~every eight hours and have been doing that for months.

I do need to read Mark's book and make a decision on what plan to follow when I get better. Right now I'm torn because I do miss dairy. Maybe I need to make that a permanent elimination or maybe I'll end up with my own LC plan based on PB and Atkins. We shall see.

Here's a Dr. who likes the "Primarian" diet, similar to PB. I would love to do PB, but feel like I would perish without dairy.

I do enjoy my cheese (Mark has this now famous huge cheese omelette with veggies for breakfast almost every day). I only skip it when I'm trying to lose weight

Joyful - I'm eagerly waiting for my copy of the cookbook! The recipes in his blog are so good, I can only imagine the yumminess I'll find in the book

I've been doing Paleo and PB is pretty much the same thing. Has anyone here bought the Primal Blueprint cookbook?

p.s. About the dairy, Mark Sisson uses a little half and half in his coffee and sometimes butter, but not much.

HI Everyone!

Glad to find this thread! Just wondering if anyone here eats this way and deals with PCOS? I love eating this way and feel great, but the weigh is not coming off as much as I would like. The joys of female issues!

Cant wait to get to know some of you! Love Mark's blog and his book. I have read it twice!

Take care

Hey there Julie! I don't have much info on the subject. I've heard PCOS is rough I've also heard that Mark is very nice and he answers lots of questions through his blog. Also, there's a forum there, so maybe there you can find some more info

I'm eating VLC - Primal style. I feel great!! I'm convinced this is a WOE that can be sustained for a lifetime. It's just awesome
