I save money by buying frozen veggies in bulk. So easy to throw them in a bowl and nuke them for 2 minutes. Steamed and tasty!

I normally do as well. We buy bulk broccoli, green beans, and normandy from Sam's Club. This was a special blend of zucchini, onions, squash, peppers and broccoli that I got on sale at Whole Foods. I wanted something "fancy" after a week of meat!

I am really starting to see a difference in my face and my bra has gone from cutting me to being comfy now at the tightest closures! I'm sure I have a good ten pounds to lose just in my boobs.

Hey Mel - How was your visit with your son?

Today is a veggie day for me so I'm going to have a nice salad. I need to grill some chicken and such today to have on hand for the rest of the week.

Made non-food plans for Mother's Day (we're going to the zoo) so that should be an easy holiday to stay on plan.

Mimosa: Your menu looks good. How did the Salmon turn out

Lora: How do you season your veggies? I am used to lots of butter or olive oil with mine so that'll be a change!

Barb: It's a great idea to make non-food plans for Mother's Day. I do all of the cooking for these events so they just have to eat what I make! Haven't made a plan yet but it will be grilled meat, salad, lc veggies and no dessert!

Mel: YUMMM on the chicken veggie soup! How were your prawns? At our Mexican restaurant my DH orders the Seafood Molcajete which comes in a huge sizzling hot bowl carved from volcanic rock. It's got prawns, scallops, octopus, clams, mussels, crab, whitefish and squid seasoned with Cilantro, roasted Jalapeno Peppers, tomatoes and onions. Glad your son may be coming back. My DH is working 12 hour days 6 - 7 days a week too. The paychecks are nice but sometimes picking up the slack for him makes my days really long! Hop in the camper and come to Colorado and we'll hang out!!

I'm glad to hear that Cruising is easy for everyone! I am anxious to start!! I know Attack is easy because I've basically done it.....

Have a great day all!

You can season them with anything really.

I use Mrs. Dash and/or chili powder.

My book came today! I'm SHOCKED considering it wasn't scheduled to be here before the 21st. I hope to have some time to start reading it this weekend. I can't today but might get to look at it tonight if I can stay awake after Grey's Anatomy.

Sooz - You might get yours before your trip!

Mel - Hugs! Hang in there! That is great that DS may come stay longer!

Lora - Good idea about the Mrs. Dash. Love that stuff!

Sure thing Lora. If you have questions let me know and I'll check the index and/or remember to pay attention for those things when I'm reading.

Hi Everyone!!

I've been reading up on it, and I found a very specific site for the Dukan Diet, don't know if you know it:

The Dukan Diet

It has more details.

Happy Dukaning!

I think FitMommy can help you with that portion of shipping, etc.

I'm debating if I should wait on the book's release to North America.

Karen - It costs another 6 or 7 pounds to ship the book. Not sure how much exactly it is in dollars but I figure it to be around $20.

My mom took my DD#1 to ballet and my little one is still napping so I have had a few minutes to look through it.

I did see one mention re: people who have 100 pounds or more to lose. It says that in many cases the weight loss will slow to 3-4 pounds a month as the body gets used to it and that it might be best to take time to stabilize after losing 40lbs or so to give the body time to adjust. Then start it again after a few months. He doesn't say this is 100% necessary, only so if the stringent diet is too hard to stick with seeing such small results.

The book is very cold, scientific, and makes fat people sound like lab rats. This guy is also in love with aspartame, diet soda, and says no more than 3-4 egg yolks per week because of cholesterol. Um....sorry Charlie, I'm not going there.

So far from what I've skimmed, there is nothing that I have seen that makes me think I've been doing anything wrong/incorrect (other than eating more egg yolks which I will continue to do).

Honestly, this diet is a glorified PSMF with a follow up plan to keep you from gaining it all back. It is just more vegetable than a PSMF and I read something in the book that says the more veggies you eat the slower you will lose which falls right in line with PSMF.

Oh, and apparently he wants those of us who are obese to take 2 minute cold showers everyday, eat most cold foods, and drink lots of cold water. All to burn extra calories.

I'm ok with the cold food and water but showers????

I like the plan because it is strict and simple with less gray areas where I can talk myself in to cheats. He says overweight people like "extremes" when they are dieting so I guess that is why I like it.

Also the oat bran is only to make you feel fuller and to attach to the nutrients you eat so that you'll pass them in your stool thus absorbing less calories. I think it is also supposed to be good for cholesterol.

Wow FitMommy! A lot of interesting stuff in there.... I think we only ordered a day or two apart. Maybe I'll have some good Cabo reading!! I did read once where cold water increases your metabolism, but only minimally. Hearing these things makes me more sure than ever that I will do a "Modified Dukan"!

I probably shouldn't be so about the book. For the most part, his diet is sound and that's just it, it is HIS diet. He can say whatever he wants. I just think veteran low carbers will find issue with the same things I did.

Morning all!

Mel, have you run into some troubles regarding the diet? Maybe we can help!

Sooz, the salmon was lovely! I just put a layer of cottage cheese, then fresh herbs, then the salmon fillets, then more cottage cheese on the top and then in the oven for about 20 minutes. Came out delicious!

Well, I am feeling great, but TOM is here and I have not lost one ounce for the last 5 days, grrrrr! I do think I am losing inches, as all my tight clothes are feeling a lot more comfortable, even freshly washed jeans are not a struggle to get in to, so I guess I will have to wait to lose some more lbs once TOM has left again!

Have a great day everyone!

My menu:

B: 1 cup of quark with oat bran
L: smoked salmon, salad and a cottage cheese herb dressing
D: not sure, I have to go shopping, but I am thinking of having a chicken tandoori type dish with steamed asparagus...

Thanks for the information LJR and Fit MommyI guess I am doing a modified version too. I was using Olive Oil because it is good for my heart and still losing weight like crazy. I do realize that adding all the fat and oil I was really doing Atkins lol but that is allright too. I have to restart again Have a great day everyone
