Ohhhhh really? I thought it sounded...."sound." Curb the cravings by getting into ketosis and then segway into the lower fat, all protein days....

Yeah lil miss. I'd like to see how it works for you. I don't think Dukan works on the principal of getting your body into Ketosis, does it?

Actually, I checked my strip this morning and it was a deep purple.

By the way, I avoided all temptations. No eating. No drinking alcohol or diet cokes!

I feel great but I am sleepy!

Good Night all!

The attack phase consists of lots of non-fat dairy and lean meats. While keeping eggs to a minimum and mostly egg whites.

The reason why I went on the egg/protein fat fast was to jump start into induction. Unfortunately, the butter, full fat dairy, and the fatty meats made me so queasy after a while. Even with the addition of the low-carb veggies it did not help much and I found myself craving flour and salt.

To me Dukan or Stillman's is easier to get into if done right.

Morning all! These time differences between Europe and the US/Canada sure make for lots of reading! Wow, you guys are doing great!

So I said I'd post some recipes, will do so right now, after posting my menu for today:

B: 1 cup of low fat quark with my daily oat bran, 2 oz of smoked salmon (I did not mix the salmon with the quark, LOL)
S: dunno, seems like my hunger has taken a nosedive, have for force myself to eat!
L: 6 oz of smoked mackerel, and 1/2 cup of fat free natural yogurt if I still want it
S: see above about the hunger
D: 8oz fillet steak from the grill, with maybe a fresh herb dip made from whatever I fancy from my herb garden, a little garlic, a little salt and pepper and blended with a few TB's of fat free cottage cheese. Dessert will be 1 cup of quark or yogurt sweetened with a little stevia.

Ok now for some recipes...

The oat bran pancake:

Put 1 1/2 TB's of Oat Bran in a bowl, add 1 1/2 TB of non fat fromage frais or quark and one egg white, or a whole egg if you do not have any cholesterol problems. Sweeten with 1TB of sweetener of your choice or add a little salt according to your taste. Mix all the ingredients thouroughly and pour onto a non stick pan that has been greased with a few drops of oil then wiped with kitchen paper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side.
Recipe makes one serving.
The pancakes keep for at least a week in the fridge, but wrap them in foil or clingfilm so that they do not dry out. You can also freeze them as they will not lose their taste, texture or nutritional value. (recipe taken from The Dukan Diet by Pierre Dukan)

Can you all please let me know what other things you would like to know, otherwise I will be posting random things here that nobody wants to read, LOL!

So I am doing well, totally NO interest in food at all, even though when I eat I do enjoy my food! I do not think I have been in ketosis this deep ever before!

My energy is pretty high, and walking every day is making me more energetic! I have been working out with weights consistently for a while now, so I am still doing that too, twice a week. So far I have been to the gym once, and have had no weight stall or loss of strength or energy whilst at the gym.

Right, have a good day everyone!

Mimosa, thanks for the pancake recipe. At last I know what to do with quark. Did you ever find fat-free cottage cheese in Spain? Here there is only the normal full fat type. I wonder if the pancake could be made really thin and used as a wrap.

Hi Pat!
I have moved to Germany (for work) now, and am experiencing similar cottage cheese issues as you are... No fat free or low fat cottage cheese! I get mine in bulk in Holland, when I go there to visit friends and family. Fairly regular occurence, I am only a 2 and a half hour drive away!

As for the pancake, I made one yesterday and made several small ones, which I will use as blinis with my smoked salmon and a dollop of fromage frais... Well, it sounds like a good idea!
I think if you make it a little thinner it could make a nice type of wrap, haven't tried that yet, thanks for the idea!

Thanks for posting all that Mimosa! Great info!

Day 4 of ATTACK here. I feel fine but I guess since I had been on 40 or less carbs the month before it isn't a huge change.

Put on some tight capri pants today. I'm in a 22W and they are 20's but they are up and zipped. Hopefully in 5 more pounds I can breathe in them.

I will experiment this weekend.

Plain old non-fat yogurt from my grocery store. I drain the water from it to make yo cheese. I divided into one mixed with herbs and spices and the other with cinnamon only. (I don't use sweeteners of any kind.)

Pasteurized organic nonfat milk and living yogurt cultures: L. acidophilus, L. bulgaricus, S. thermophilus and bifidus - I spent a little extra and got an organic brand.

Hmmm??? I may try Non-Fat Ricotta Cheese instead though.. Less carbs, sugar, etc.

Lora: Thanks for the info on Ketosis! Congratulations on being deep purple. Your weight loss should be great in the next coupla days. Good job avoiding all that stuff at karaoke. I don't know why, but in that atmosphere it feels wierd for me to just drink water. Last night at the Irish Pub I splurged and had unsweetened iced tea!

Barb: that your pants are starting to fit!

Mimosa: Everything you post has been interesting to me, so you can just keep it coming as far as I am concerned!

Mel: How great it was that your neighbors were able to find Oat Bran. I really like the idea of adding exercise to this. I too will be losing a couple of my threads because they won't be applicable once I start Dukan. Plus with being out of town for 11 days I'll unsub from most.

Lots of great info here already. By the time I get back from Cabo I am going to have to start at Post #1 and read the entire thing. I am already getting so many ideas and so much information. Dukan seems so flexible!

I just went to Amazon UK and bought the Book!!! Even with shipping costs the price was about $22.87. Unfortunately it says my approximate delivery date is May 24 so I won't be able to read it while I'm gone.
