Dukan-friendly Sandwiches! Hot dogs on a Dukan-friendly bun!

This link gives the recipe for Oopsie Rolls(we would use the fat free version of cream cheese):
Your Lighter Side...: Gluten-free, low-carb buns (aka Oopsie rolls)

I used to cook Oopsie Rolls when I was doing Atkins. They're very handy for feeling like a normal person who eats sandwiches and toast.

I'm going to start next Saturday. TOM is about to visit - not feeling well anyway - and have 2 parties to go to on Thurs & Fri. Thurs, Friday is the weekend here - so I will go shopping and prepare, prepare, prepare!!! I need to find the calculator to see how many days I need to do Attack.

The book says 7-10 days if you have over x amount - which I do - but is 7-10 days okay or should I do more?

I'm thinking Attack for 5 days - then I'm away for a weekend at a Ball - eat 'sensibly' at the ball (and I will drink!!) I've paid over $120/- for my ticket + flights and a hotel! Then I'll start the 7-10 days again! Move onto the 2nd phase until I go on holiday in August. I'm going to do Paul McKenna - I Can Make You Thin - whilst on holiday - and when I get back, 7-10 days Attack and then start as I mean to go on!!

I thought something is better than nothing!!! Otherwise I have excuses not to start till September!!!

Go to their site and enter your info. the calculator will then give you your schedule (how long to stay in each phase and how much loss to expect) The duration of each phase depends on your info, very specific.

Purrcy'smom I goggled the crab-sticks for dukan diet in the U.S and they came up. Looks like Dukan is endorsing them. Sorry took so long to get back at you on this, have been really busy and not a lot of time to read the boards.

Grats to all that are doing well, a lass I am just getting started again. 5 days of attack starting tomorrow.

Last week I did get my chicken cooked up and into the freezer and was doing real well, Then my kids started showing up through out the week with cake, cookie cake, for late mother day gifts, as they all had to work. LOL i just went with it. Well all the stuff is gone. Thank goodness

Tomorrow, well cook up beef to go with the chicken. I do have my ff dairy on hand so should be good to go.

Hiya - Paul McKenna isn't necessarily a short term fix. But for me it's manageable when I'm on holiday! When life isn't so hectic it works really well - but I'm just not able to stick to it right now.

4 Golden Rules

When you're hungry EAT
Eat what you WANT
ENJOY every mouthful
When you're full STOP

There are no food restrictions! However, when I'm working this whole eat when you're hungry doesn't work - I need to EATsomething before I go to work (whether I'm hungry or not) - there's nowhere to get what I WANT for lunch - I'm too busy to ENJOY every mouthful (ie remove myself from my work desk) and therefore don't STOP when I'm full - dinner is at a time suitable to DH - because of his early morning start - but on holiday it's much easier!

dollkey Got it and thank you so much, Great read so far. In fact I started the attack phase today. weight 177.8 rounded to 178.

I think this book is a must to read and explains so much. It gives reasons behind each thing that might happen during the different Phases. So much better then Atkins.

Still Don't have the oat-bran and when I find it well pick it up. Well start listing the foods I eat and weight as I go through the stages.

He even mentions the imitation crab and even tho it is higher in carbs the why he says its ok.

You really need to get Atkins and other Lc plans out of your head when you do this. It is different. So I am going by the book on this. Can't wait to get the hard-copy to mark and high light stuff to reassure me if I don't have a loss or even a gain, This is covered.

Thank you again dollkey

It seems that those of us in the USA are on the leading (bleeding?) edge of the US Dukaners. There is no coaching yet on the Dukan US site, and all the recipe books are available only electronically.

Yesterday I bought The Dukan Diet Slow Cooker Cookbook, available only electronically for $4.99. I was a bit disappointed that it has only 21 recipes, but I believe I will use about 6-8 of them, so that makes the cost reasonable to me. Plus I had to place an order at Netrition for these ingredients not available at my local grocery:
Zero Carb apricot fruit spread
" " orange marmalade " "
" " ketchup
" " BBQ sauce
" " Marinara sauce
Splenda brown sugar
Dixie Diner Carb Counters Thick It Up Low Carb Thickener (the brand in the cookbook is no longer available)

Also, the slow cooker recipe book keeps referring to things like "pineapple flavoring" and "honey flavoring" and "lemon flavoring". I guess they are referring to extracts. I'm hoping that my local grocery has Pineapple Extract, etc. If not, I guess Lemon Extract or Orange Extract would be a decent substitute.
I wonder if these flavorings are readily available in France?

I'm wondering if I bought the wrong book - there were 2 and the one I bought said optimised for Kindle - so I went with that - it was really short - and didn't mention about crabsticks etc - may have to go and check and if I bought one written by someone else about the diet - I will be quite mad!!!!

Yes, this is hard! Not used to thinking much about fat or number of eggs. And the unlimited nonfat dairy is really weird to me. I still cannot limit my eggs, but with dairy I feel guilty if I have more than one serving.

Yes, I was supposed to go into cruise over the weekend, but I went too far and had whole wheat toast when my BF and I went out for breakfast both days.

Anyway, back on track now and weight is dropping again. I just need to stay really clean this week.

I have to admit I do like the dairy

Yesterday went well Nothing to write home about in the eating dept. lol Had 2 eggs, lean meat and ff yogurt and a glass of milk. Didn't gorge on anything which was nice.

I start cruise Saturday and will weigh myself. As much as I love Lc, I have a hard time staying with it. Not throwing in the towel yet lol just my m.o:blush:

Think I'll dance around the house for 20min to day for exercise. Moving is moving and that's better then sitting lol

Well check in later have a great day.

Hi everyone!

I've been on Dukan for exactly one week and have lost 2.4 pounds so far. I can't seem to bring myself to eat quite as low fat as it calls for, but I am sticking to the alternating PP/PV days because that seems like an easy rule to follow. I'm beginning to think I'm really on some mix of paleo/ dukan, but I'm trying as much as possible to follow the Dukan cruise framework until I get to my goal weight, and also I think the consolidation phase rules are pretty brilliant.

I was on attack for four days and found it pretty difficult energy-wise, so I'm glad to be over it.

I'm keeping a diet blog here about it the journey THE DUKAN WEIGHT LOSS JOURNAL

Hopefully I'll be able to stick with it and see some results.

Best of luck to everyone 1

The Dukan Diet

I caved over the weekend, sad to say and tried to get back on track yesterday ~ it didn't happen. (I was doing so well too!)

I am going to do 3 days of Attack, and then get back into the Cruise portion of the plan. I've got fish, meats, my non fat dairy items so I got no excuses.

Coming on the board and reporting helps me stay more focused and on track. I journal my food as well... and yes, I mark down what I have eaten that is not on plan.

Menu
1 c N/F Fage yogurt w/1.5 oat bran
Basa Fillet fish w/slice of lemon
Sirloin steak w/one sauteed shallot (the sirloin is pretty lean)

If I find I need a snack/am hungry, I have some grilled chicken I can eat.

That's my meal plan for the day.

A friend of mine has found flavorings at Big Lots. Although I have yet to use it, she did give me an Almond one. Don't know if they have any other flavors, and it was about 6 months ago when she gave it to me. (I don't know if they would still have these on the shelf, but sometimes these out of the way places have items we can use ~ that is why I mentioned this here).

I do shop a store called Ranch 99, and I have found small bottles for $1.29 each that are marked "Essences". I have 3 on hand right now -- banana, pineapple and mango.

I did find 3 Ideal Sweetener products on the shelf at one of my local grocery stores ~ not the Brown Sugar sweetener though... which is the one I want. Will get some on-line.

Here's to a great day for everyone!!

redblack Know to well about caving in. I did that the whole week last week. Once I start on the sugar it's over.
I have meat cooked also to grab in the fridge , plus I well get a glass of ff milk to help, if the cravings hit.

I swear the days go so slow when I try to start a new diet, and shoot by when I'm sugar binging lol. Well cruise well be here soon

today eaten so far
2 eggs, Sm piece of meat
black coffee, water

Hi everyone, I think the unlimited dairy is helping me stay on plan. If I crave something sweet I grab drained yogurt or cottage cheese and sweeten it up. I have a new respect for cottage cheese as a savory item, I melt it on everything. I started 5/8 at 161 this morning I was 151, I am very happy about where I'm at which helps me stay on plan. Tuesday is the roughest day eating wise for me. I have my 2 young granddaughter every Tuesday for dinner and dessert. I usually end up bingeing on the dessert. I made them snow cones this week so no bingeing desire there. Although after they left I made a small amount of snowcone ice with a crystal lite package I put it in a bowl then in the middle of it I put sweetened drained yogurt, it took care of my sweet tooth.

Reading about the plan and it looks interesting but: oat bran is high carb, is there a specific reason why you couldn't substitute ground flax? So much more nutritional and loads of fiber without the carbs.

Dottie you don't count carbs on this diet, It is different then other Lc plans. He is real good about explaining the reason for the oat-bran. If you can get your hand on the book read it, I like it so much better then the other Lc plans I hav tried.

LindaCat I agree totally about the dairy, getting ready to fix some plan yogurt w some cinnamon and a little sweetener for my bed time snack.
Are you using low fat cottage cheese or the fat free cottage cheese? I had no idea that it would melt. And congrats on the weight loss.

I have a pdf copy of the book. It is quite a read and goes into all the details about this diet. I myself haven't tried the diet yet as I'm still trying to get over the fat is bad mantra LOL But I really like this plan on paper.
