So far so good-had a party last night and I think the salt in the salad dressing got to me. I am up on 1lb today but since today is only protein I should be fine. I like that this plan does not make me panic and quit as soon as I gain a lb. I am hoping the all protein day will have me down tommorrow.
Wow pretty quite on the boards-anyone? |

is anyone else on dukan? I have lost 23 pounds while on Dukan on just over two months, since New Years, and was off of Dukan for about two weeks due to travelling. I have many of his books, and there is a genuine theory behind these phases and it is quite different from Atkins. I find that high fat foods hinder my weight loss particularly because I am not that overweight anymore. I am a pear shape and have gone from 175 to 152 and would like to lose another 18 to 20 pounds, but am only 5'1 . Would any one else care to be a diet buddy? I have even got a few gfs on it as well!

I am not doing Dukan and no longer need to lose but it seems like a plan for success. I have taken parts of it.....Good luck to you.

Article in today's NY Times:
"Warmed over Atkins?" - funny title considering oat bran is a staple of the diet. "PIERRE DUKAN has been called the French Dr. Atkins. Millions of Frenchmen are said to have tried his program, a method that promises — like dozens of diets before and since — no hunger, no calorie counting, instant weight loss and lifelong weight maintenance. ... Next month, the diet will make its American debut when a division of Crown Publishing rolls out the North American edition of “The Dukan Diet,” its cover featuring a plate with two Eiffel Towers and the words, “The Real Reason the French Stay Thin.” " |

Anyone know where to find oat bran? All I can find in my local grocery is wheat bran.

I found a box of oat bran at Walmart, in the cereal aisle, near the oats and such.

OK, thanks. I was looking in the baking aisle, but finally looked in the cereal aisle and found it.

WOE: Stillman's for now
|
Back in January, I did the Stillman's diet. I lost 7lbs in 2 weeks! But by Day 17, I was sick of eating nothing but lean meat. I missed eating vegetables and having regular bowel movements. And, I still struggled with emotional/binge eating. I fell off the wagon and gained the weight back and then some (and then some because I started eating crap - when I eat low carb whole foods, I maintain). After reading about the Dukan diet for weight loss, and self-help tools for overeating (asking yourself if you’re really hungry, breathing techniques, affirmations, etc.), I feel like I’m finally knowledgeable and ready enough to give weight loss another go. What I like about this program is that it’s only strict during the weight loss phase. Once I get to the maintenance phase, I’ll be able to go back to eating the healthy whole low carb foods that maintain my weight.
I won’t be able to start for the next couple of days, but when I do, I’ll post again to this board. I hope some of you will join me! |

Read all of them here and in a few other forums, but you never really get the 'whole' picture except from the source.

Hi cierabrianca and peski - i am definitely interested in buddy's - i did my shopping and am going to be starting this diet on monday - i too have tried them all (atkins is always the most effective for me) but each time i screw up then restart it seems as though my body is not as receptive to losing so i'm hoping the dukan diet will push me thru - good luck and let's keep in touch and work thru it together...

I began the Dukan diet Thursday, 4/21/11, and lost 6# the first 2 days. Water weight. That's ok. All the vegies and fruit was just adding water weight to me. Now I can start on getting rid of the fat. And I feel better than I did eating mounds of salad and bags of fruit. I was even a strict vegetarian for many years a long time ago. Now I have more energy. Vegetables are entered in the second phase of Dukan. I look forward to it, but first things first. The first phase is about taking charge of my body, my appetite, then the other foods come into play. Very good eating plan that is very dooable the rest of my life. I am going to loose 80 more# on this new lifetime eating plan.

Anyone can order the book from the Dukan website but there is plenty of info about how the Dukan diet works (details and all) online elsewhere rather than spend the money on the book.
