Maryam, I'm glad you are feeling better, It seems that the meat and vegie part of the plan is much better for you. My husband has committed to dieting until the middle of April, and we have decided to extend Weeks 3 & 4 until then. I am at goal, but I will stick with the plan longer. I am afraid that if I stop dieting, I might derail my husband. Also, it won't hurt to solidify the weight loss. As Speedymagee said, this is a life style change.
DaisyGG, I was a very slow loser the first time I started low carb 12 years ago. But if you keep on going, you will get there. After all, you lost weight, right? You could have gained weight, had you not dieted at all. Forgive yourself your mistakes, and keep on trying. We are all rooting for you.
Speedymagee, your husband must be so happy. He has been so successful. Congratulations.

So happy to report that my first two weeks are finished and I am colling them a resounding success!!! I am down another 2 kgs for a total of 3Kgs (6.6 lbs) in 2 weeks!!!! I will take my measurements tonight after everything settles down at home!

Soobee - Yes, I am liking meat/veggie weeks much better! My body just cannot tolerate the whey. If I manage to get some good egg protein I may incorporate a couple shakes a week for maintanance but that is down the road! Congrats to you and Dh! I think its fantastic that you are sticking with him!

Sandy - is it time for TOM? I slipped up and jumped on the scale last Friday thinking, I'll just have a peak. TOM had just arrived and I was up .5kg!!!!! But this morning with Tom almost gone I am down 2kgs!!!! But you are soooooo right - don't let a little bump derail you!!!! Great attitude!!!!

Daisy - how's it going?

OK. Hope everyone had a lovely Valentines Day. Did my measurements yesterday and this is how it looks -1/2" on my waist for a total of 2.5", -1" on my hips for a total of 2", -total 1/2" off my thighs, -1/2" off my upper arms. Not bad. I'm pretty pleased with weeks 1-2!!!

Hi Everyone,

I am beginning Week 1 of the Cure tomorrow. For my weight, I get 3 scoops of protein powder per shake, am taking two of them with me to work and will have my third shake and meal at home.

I decided to go hrough all six weeks. My problem is not giving up coffee...I only drink one small cup per day and don't want to give it up. I exercise at least 4 days per week and drink over a gallon of water per day.

What were the results of those who have began the plan?

Morning everyone. Great workout yesterday!

Moonstruck. I love coffee too! I have a BIG mug on my drive to work every morning. I gave it up for the first two weeks. Had a headache the first couple days but after that I was fine. Just kept telling myself - Its only 2 weeks, its only 2 weeks! I just started of week 3 Monday and so far my results are total weight lost: 3kgs (6.6lbs) and total inches lost: 5" - 3 of them off my waist!

Melsy - glad you are joining us!

Sandy and Soobee - how are you ladies dong?

Moonstruck and Melsybop

I just started week 5. I have lost 6 lbs and a bunch of inches (it changes every week).

I am getting house guests that will stay until the end of my 6 weeks, so will do my best.

I had wine last night for the first time since I started. My sister and nephew arrive tomorrow and I am so excited I can't even begin to tell you.

I am going meat shopping today, so will be well stocked.

Welcome Melsybop and Moonstruck. Melsybop, I am glad you are feeling better. My husband and I both lost a pound a week. I am at goal, and he has a way to go. But I feel there is nothing better he can do for his health than to lose a little weight. We also shrank noticably in size. We both struggled the first 2 weeks and both found Weeks 3 & 4easier. We are sticking to that protocol for the next month or so.

Day 1 down also and it wasn't as hard as I thought. I work 5am-2pm at my job M-F and before I would have breakfast at home around 4am before I left for work. This morning, I had my water and coffee early and then my first shake around 7am.

My second shake was around 11am and my third was around 3pm. I drink a ton of water and didn't get hungry at all. My husband does all the cooking for us and made all my shakes. I asked him to add more than six ounces of water because I like my shakes to stretch as much as possible. I had an omelette with veggies and cheese for dinner and I was only able to eat a little more than half of it. If anything, I don't want to eat too little.

Have a nice evening everyone.

Congratulations to both of you on the completion of your first day. Finishing my food has never been a problem. I can't imagine not being able to eat all of my meal. But it's a great sign that your body's needs are being satisfied.

Good grief, my S-SAD # is 11 and my L-SAD # is 9. I'm up at the highest risk for cardiovascular disease.

I'm not sure if anyone else is pre-menopausal here, but I am and am also anemic due to having a 2 month long heavy TOM that just ended a week or so ago so I can't give blood - does TOM count as giving blood?

I don't even feel guilty about it, even though I gained almost 2lbs, because I am into changing my lifestyle and a waffle sized bump in the road is not going to derail me.
Waffle incident! That really made me laugh hard!

I wasn't hungry on this first day and had a hard time getting 3 shakes in as well.
Down to 172.2 (loss of 2.2 pounds) this morning. I know I'm not supposed to weigh daily, but it doesn't bug me to do it, it's a habit I'm trying to reestablish since when I avoid the scale, I get into trouble. When I weighed daily in the past, I never let my weight get out of control like it has lately when avoiding the scale. I haven't been low carbing and just came back from vacation so not surprising that I'll have a nice loss in the beginning.

Down to 171.4 this morning. Still not at all hungry during the day and had to push myself to drink a 3rd shake which I made 1/2 strength.

I hope I'm not the only one still doing this?

Jaquelinejolie, we are still on the diet. We are continuing the Week 3 & 4 plan, even though today is the start of our 6th week. My husband lost 5 pounds in 5 weeks. I lost 4 pounds, but I am at goal, thank god. We are just plugging along. Your results are fantastic. Congratulations.

Hey everyone! Starting week 4 today. Down another Kg so that makes a total of 4kgs (8.8lbs) gone!!! Will take my measurements this evening. So far so good!

I'm loving meat weeks! So much better than the shake weeks! Took the kids to the park for a bbq on Saturday and grilled up enough steaks to have a steak to bring to work for lunch everyday!!

jacquelinejolie - I usually ended up skipping my last shake or giving most of it to my kids! It was just too much for me!

Soobee - How is your dh doing? Hope he is still losing!

Sandy - Hope you're enjoying your houseguests!

Is anyone here from Canada? Sometimes we don't have supplements available like you do in the states. I can't seem to find the leucine - did you all get yours from GNC or a health food store / vitamin shop?

I live in Abu Dhabi and we have a very limited GNC. I just didn't bother with what I couldn't find. But just FYI, most protein powder has leucine in it already.

Thanks BB, after these 2 shake weeks are done, I'll check out GNC. I don't dislike the shakes and have had one once or twice a day before when I was weight lifting and work got busy and I wanted something quick to grab. The fact that it spares muscle is a big motivator to me.

The only thing that I don't like about the shakes is that they're awfully sweet. I used to make them with cottage cheese and that cut down on the sweetness.

Great stats by the way!

Did my measurements yesterday and here is my 3 week results Waist -3", Hips -2", Thigh -1" and Upper Arm -1/2". I'm pretty pleased! Alos felt stronger during my workout yesterday. Think my body is FINALLY getting used to burning FAT for energy instead of carbs! I'm thinking next week I'll up my weight for my Upper Body workouts!

JJ - Most protein powder is expensive here. I find that the lower carb ones aren't nearly as sweet as the other ones. I eat beef everyday, too. No problems getting my protein in!

Melsybop - Another good option my be to order online.
