I transitioned into regular PP, but I want to start shakes up soon, so I can start the cycle over again. I've also cut down my caffeine just for the heck of it. I wanted to start this week, but I've been slammed with busyness. I should just do it tomorrow.

Are you on the plan?

Awesome. I'm on my 2nd week. I lost 13 pounds the first week and now have been doing 2 and 2.... so I guess that's a variation as well. I'd like to get back to 3 and 1. anyone intersted in supporting each other?

Wow, that's great! You've come to the right place for support. I've been trying 2 and 2 for the last 2 days (lol) and I'm not quite sure I can do it. I think I need to go back to the 3 and 1. I've been on the 3 and 1 for (I had to scroll up to see when I re-started) a month now and I'm still at 10 pounds, but it is 10 pounds less than what I was before! I only have 5 more to go, but I'm determined to get there.

I have to say that the 2 and 2 hasn't resulted in any loss this week. So I need to go back to 3 and 1. Although, after a loss of 13 the first week, my body may just be pausing or redistributing the weight now.

That's probably true. In my case it's too easy to start adding instuff I'm not supposed to have. Dealing with just one meal a day is so much easier.

I agree. I would like to start with the 3 and 1 again starting Monday. Would you be up for a daily check in? I think that would be a good way to support each other.

That sounds good. I've been going with all meat on the weekends, so Monday would be a good day for me to go back to 3 and 1 as well.

Ive been lurking for awhile and now would like to ask what you guys eat on a daily basis. What type of powdered proteins do you like best? I have EAS whey chocolate powder but hate the taste of it. I wish there was a way to taste test this stuff before buying. Back in the 1980s losing weight on shakes was all the rage and it worked for several people I knew.

On a daily basis: 3 protein shakes, one low-carb meal, one serving sugar-free candy (usually Hershey's milk chocolate)

I use the Now brand of Whey Protein Isolate. Unflavored. The trick is to add your own flavorings. (I've tried the flavored protein, but like you, I can't stand it. With the chocolate, try adding Davinci's chocolate and a tablespoon of unflavored cocoa just so you can use it up.)

I use a variety of flavorings, but the easiest is to add 1 to 1 1/2 packages of water flavoring. Since I am making my shakes with 2 scoops now (since I started the 6 week cure) I'm using 1 1/2. I also like to use Davinci's, but I have to add so much of it to get a strong flavor that I run out pretty quickly. I love banana and coconut.

Also, I don't mix my shakes with water. Instead I use soy milk, coconut milk or almond milk. In a pinch, I use watered down cream. I think it helps with the consistency. Sometimes I also add a tablespoon of yogurt to thicken it up.

I have a really good blender, and occasionally I'll make "ice cream" with the shake by using 1/2 cup liquid and a cup of ice.

I don't really stick with what the book says as far as the meal. Instead I adapt whatever we're having for dinner (my husband is the cook), even if it means just having meat. He's pretty good about cooking a main dish that I can eat. I might throw in a salad or a piece of cheese.

I haven't been able to stay on an all-meat schedule yet, so maybe someone else can answer that question for you.

Renae maybe?

My "all meat" looked suspiciously like Atkins induction.

I've used NNW brand protein powder. I like the flavor well enough to not need to embellish it. I *really* want to try Syntrax Nectar, I've heard raves about it, plus it is a whey isolate instead of the concentrate/isolate blend. I wonder if I will lose better on an isolate. I have a sneaking suspicion that it would be of benefit.

Personally, I've been drinking the ISOPURE shakes. You can find them at any of the health food stores. Make sure you look for the zero carb shake mix though. I think they do end up having 2 carbs. Personally, I like both the chocolate and vanilla. I use the Chocolate and mix with some DaVinci mint syrup (sugar free of course) and add the 2 TBS cream, and one TBS flax and ice and water. Delicious. Or the Vanilla, I add just a dash of DaVinci carmel (sugar free) and it taste like a Wendy's shake.

3 and 1.... let's go guys.

Renae,

It's true that the all meat phase sounds like Atkins Induciton. I think the first part is simply to jump start your metabolism and get rid of the VAT - visceral fat around your organs and detoxify your liver before you get to the 3rd week where it is completely meat.

Thank you all, for your answers! Well, I pulled my book off the shelf, dusted it off and decided to give this a go! I might even rotate between Atkins induction and this WOE every other week. T-man, the Wendys shake idea sounds real good.

Okay, well today I was actually 4 and 0. It was Open House night at school (high school teacher) and I had to fit in a visit with the chiropractor in the afternoon, so no time to eat. But I had prepared 4 shakes so I was good. I probably am not getting enough fats and other good stuff, but now it's already after 9:00 and I just don't have the energy to eat anything. I'm pooped!

Yesterday was a not so good day for me either. So starting fresh today. I've already had one shake and will have lunch then the other two tonight..... Let's go team!

Susan... I like the idea of rotating too. Perhaps after the 6 weeks. Let's see if we can get this going for six weeks.

Has this plan died off with everyone? I was thinking of doing this for a few weeks just to shake things up....wondering if anyone has accomplished much loss with it? My feeling is that if you have a LOT of weight to loss, it might not be such a good thing. From the description and reviews I've read, it seems more targeted at someone fairly near goal who wants to focus on reducing belly area fat. Am I right?

I think you're right, that it's more for people who have stalled or who can't seem to get those last 10-15 pounds. But I would definitely give it a try, just as you say, t shake things up a bit. It really helped me get back on track as well as understand how those little extras were keeping me from losing.

Did you use the Leucine supplements? I was looking around today but couldn't find it....Don't know how vital it is to this program.

No, I never found any either. I think it's more important when you get to the meat weeks. When you're on the shake weeks, you get enough. I ended up doing several shake weeks and then only one meat week. But I lost 10 pounds total. I am now back to low carb, but I'm doing the belly fat cure, which is sorta based on the same principal, and I really like it. When I was on the shakes, I did the two scoop shakes, even though I probably should have done just one. But I found with two scoops, I was getting enough protein to keep me from getting hungry. Good luck, I'll be checking in now and then.

I used BCAAs for the leucine. It was in powder form, and I just threw a teaspoon into my drinks during meat weeks. I still take some BCAAs now and then in my tea bottle. I lost 6lbs doing shakes/meat.

hi, Newbie here.

65 years old, been eating low carb for some time, not really fat for my age (147 lb) but concerned about organ fat.

I started the cure three days ago. Chose a powder with good high protein, 1.5 carb per scoop and 2 grams leucine per scoop. Got some good grass fed organic cream and off i went. Raw egg in first two shakes and but not in last. 2 scoops per shake.

I dont have the meals in the book. Just a couple of slices of grass fed meat and a small helping of green veg.

My sin is a builders mug off tea with full fat milk that my husband wakes me up with in the morning. I have totally stopped the booze (gosh!!!)

Other than that all i have to eat and drink is water, not a nibble extra.Masses of energy, charging around like a two year old. 8 hours sleep a night too. No hunger pangs or diziness, but i am always ready for the next shake.

But i have put on 2lb---what is that all about??? Too old for it to be hormonal. Oh well I will stick with it. I was not expecting to loose masses because I am already high carb, but gaining is not fair

I will stick with it but it is all very discouraging.

Hi All!

My mom and I are on day 9 of the 6 Week Cure! We are in Weeks 1 & 2 (she is 68, I am 36) and thought I would share some tips and info that we wish we knew at the beginning! Once we really got on the "plan" the weight started coming off...but slowly! The best part about this diet that we have NEVER experienced on a diet before? NO CRAVINGS. Here goes:

1. FOLLOW THE BOOK TO THE LETTER!!
If you change or add something - like only 1 shake or 2 meals or whatever - you are doing your own diet, not this one.

2. HAVE 3 SHAKES AND ONE MEAL EVERY DAY FOR 14 DAYS!

We had to start over a few times because we were too "full" to have it all or too hungry to only have one meal etc etc.

3. MEASURE EVERYTHING - ESPECIALLY CREAM AND COCONUT MILK!
We realized our "splash" of cream was about 3 TBSP, and we were doing two splashes! That is 6 carbs per shake! Also a regular teaspoon full of whatever is three times the amount of a measuring teaspoon...who knew? MEASURE.

4. IF YOU HAVE ALL 3 SHAKES (MADE PER THE EXACT RECIPE) AND A MEAL - YOU WILL NOT HAVE CRAVINGS.
When you skip, they will come. Just little ones though...still nothing like any other diet. That continues to be our biggest surprise...I did not know you could diet without them! No WONDER people are following diets out there successfully - they don't have cravings! Who knew it could be EASY??! :-)!!!

5. GET OVER ALL OF THE CHANGES YOU FEEL WOULD MAKE THE SHAKES HEALTHIER OR LESS CALORIES ETC!
The second we decided to "amp" up the diet by omitting things like the egg or going down to 2 shakes, using less powder, etc., we got cranky, hungry and it was no longer easy. At all. Just resign yourself at the get-go to have exactly what they say and save yourself a lot of agony and indecision. Keep the water to 6oz in the shakes and serve over ice instead of blending the ice in if you find yourself having trouble finishing the shakes. Makes it easier. If we are feeling hungrier, we add the egg. Not so hungry, sometimes we skip the egg.

Here is what we are doing and we have both lost a good bit of weight but more than that we KNOW something REALLY GOOD is going on with our insulin or whatever it is the diet is doing because this is the first time either of us have ever dieted without cravings. That is not to say our minds would not prefer to go out and eat whatever or have a cocktail, it's just that our entire being is not lunging or longing painfully for any of it. Seriously - it is the strangest thing to me! Lol!

SHAKES
I did a lot of research on the protein powders because I want good stuff in it and not too much whey, and my Mom wants it to taste good so here is what we use:

1 scant scoop of Optimal Nutrition Pro Complex protein powder in Chocolate
1 scant scoop of Neocell Collagen Sport protein powder in Vanilla
1 ice cube of premium coconut milk***(see below for recipe)
1 TBSP of Davinci or similar flavorings (looove a bit of maple flavored! and I don't even like syrup!)
1 whole egg
8oz water

We blend it up and pour it OVER ice otherwise for us there was too much foam/air in the drink and made us too full. But colder tastes better so we stirred it up with ice before drinking.

The shake mixes both have 30g of protein per scoop (little less for the pro as they say heaping scoops are 30g), and the Collagen has zero net carbs per scoop and the Pro has 2 net carbs per scoop.

*** I use Thai brand premium coconut milk in the can. When you open it, the fat is separated and it is messy and a pain to measure every time for the shake and worry about portion control. So I open the can and place can in a pan that has a few inches of very warm water. I then stir it until fully melted and it looks like "milk" again. I then pour it into an icecube tray and freeze and it comes out to be about 2TBSP of coconut milk per cube. I then put the cubes in a ziplock in the freezer...I did a few cans worth and now I never have to deal with coconut milk mess or measuring again! Plus it gives the perfect amount of cold to my shake without having to crush ice in it. On the rocks is how I like it.

Also (said the girl who said follow to the letter lol) if we want the shake to taste chocolatey, we add a measured 1/2 TBSP Hershey's Unsweetened Cocoa Powder in Special Dark version. This has only 1/2 of a carb and 5 calories. Yes chocolate has a similar ingredient to caffeine, but I am SUPER sensitive to caffeine (I never drink soda or coffee) and can really feel the caffeine even in decaf coffee and some dark chocolate, but I do not get any feelings like that from this particular Special Dark cocoa. So in my mind it is fine lol. Do as I say not as I do. :-) Plus I'm sure people are using protein mixes that have far more cocoa than the ones we use, so it is basically the same. Note to self: Please read #1 above.

SUPPLEMENTS
The LEUCINE or whatever it is called is in the Pro Complex shake mix above so YAY don't have to worry about that one! SO many vits to take, but I did buy most of what he suggested...milk thistle I think is lacking but aside from that, I take it. Bought the cool rainbow tower pill/vitamin keeper thingy at Walgreens - LOVE. Seriously - fun to take vitamins now. I am 5. :-) OH and that collagen protein powder gives you 45g of collagen a day - we are going to look gorgeous! :-) To reiterate, the Pro Complex has 2 carbs per scoop (about - their "serving" is two scoops but one does it for our needs) and the Collagen Sport has NO carbs. And last but not least, I take Amazing Grass ORAC Green Superfood 2x a day - one tiny scoop = 2 carbs/2 proteins. Makes me feel better that I am getting a lot of fruits and veggies in some format inside of me. And at only 2 carbs per tiny scoop?? Miracle. Tastes berry delicious, too! Not grassy. Was going to add to shakes but tastes good on it's own and I like my shakes to taste like vanilla icecream shakes (the one I make above, does!). I take the ORAC greens before my morning shake and around 3pm.

SPLENDA vs STEVIA
As soon as my DaVinci is used up I am switching to SweetLeaf Stevia flavors for the shakes because they taste the same to me (in shakes) and a lot of people stall on Splenda/DaVinci so why not leave it out. Stevia is allowed so I am not altering rules for that.

MEAL/SHAKE TIMING
This is the meal schedule I came up with which works great - and actually yesterday I had to switch it up a bit to three shakes first and meal last and I felt "off" because I like to end the day with something sweet, so I won't be doing that again.

8 or 9am SHAKE
12 or 1pm SHAKE
4 or 5pm DINNER
7 or 8pm SHAKE

EXERCISE
Welll....haven't really done that part yet. Goal is to start by Sunday, Day 12. the tummy exercise the book gives is EXACTLY like my BodyFlex routine which is my miracle worker, so I am just sticking to that. Here is my 30 minute miracle exercise pod that I am doing every morning. 30 mins - no more, no less. Because I want to be skinny AND have gorgeous toned skin. I also take little walks when inspired, but not often inspired when it's cold out!

BODY BRUSH (t-tapp method) - 5 MINS
BODY FLEX SKIPPED BREATH METHOD - 10 MINS
T-TAPP 15 MIN BASIC WORKOUT - 15 MINS

I am doing the above 30 minute "pod" every day except for Friday, when I do the 30 minute "slow burn" method that they recommend in the book. My mom got the slow burn book, and says 30 mins, once a week. EASY!

Okay - hope that helps if anyone ever reads this lol. Happy Thinning!!

xx

Joyone, it was really interesting to read about your experience on the 6 Week Cure!
I've often been toying with the idea of this diet, but never got my act together.
Please, keep us posted on your progress!
