Goodmorning

I will apologize ahead of time b/c I didn't read all of the posts yet. At work and busy but I will catch up later.

I lost 2lbs. by the 15th which is what I wanted. So now I am 148lbs and have the confidence that I will get to 145lbs by Superbowl weekend.

Have a terrific Tuesday!!!

Don't cave!! Easy for me to say, huh?

Trying to stay higher fat and no starches/sugars, but it's hard to do with grandkids here and the stuff I had to buy for them.
Making turkey meatballs for supper tonight so it's low carb tonight.

I have a question for you. If I am eating a small VLC meal at about 1:00, usually just some protein, and then eat my main meal at around 5:00, usually eating salad and then whatever I have planned, isn't that really the same as CAD? Eating two times a day is all I usually need I guess.

Thanks,
Suze

Well, Suze, I guess you could call it CAD if you want. You could call it several things. I.F., CAD, or just low carb. Call it anything you want, if it fits what you're doing, that's great. The main thing is for you to be comfortable with they way you are eating, the amounts and the times.

What is CAD? I do the above alot. I usually start off my day with tea or coffee and have a light or normal sized lunch and a light dinner. At times, I will just eat an early dinner and I am satisfied.

CAD is Carbohydrate Addicts Diet and it really fits into their guidelines. Their only caveat is that you have to have your "reward meal" eaten within 60 minutes. There are other rules as well but basically it fits into the IF category.
As long as it works!

Do most of you stay LC while eating IF?

I am almost ALWAYS low carb because hubby is diabetic and that's just the way we eat. I am also low fat/low calorie when I'm dieting on hcg, which is a very short amount of time and not often either. When not dieting, I up my calories by TRYING to be high fat/moderate protein.

I had a coffee with cream and Davinci syrup instead. But when we got to Moms for lunch, all she had was cornbread and beans........so that is what I ate......but I passed on dessert, and only had 1 helping.

So made a big pizza with LC tortilla casserole for supper......

We have up to 1/2 inch ice this morning. It is ugly outside. 30 degrees, with 17 degree chill factor with rain falling........

DH just went out to see if he can get to my folks to do cattle chores. DD and I will go outside here and do them here. Horses locked in the lot, because to icy to even put themout to pasture today!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!

Electricity off last night, but back on. Hoping I can have computer to work on today.....so plugging in the laptop right now.

I made chili the other night but I did add beans to it. That was 2 nights ago and I am just feeling better. I need to remember to stay away from starches. The only starch that doesn't seem to affect me as much is rice however I will just stay away from them period.

Sugars are definitely a no no. I can take a bite of something but that is it! Plus eating low carb makes me not crave food outside of my "eating windows". Protein and fat fill you up.

Mmmmm, cornbread and beans. I would imagine, Karen, that as much physical work as you do, carbs don't affect you like it does the rest of us. Nothing better to eat in bitter weather like you are having.

That lc tortilla pizza casserole sounds tooooo yummy. Wanna share the recipe?? Pretty please

It is really easy.......I do it with either Pizza or taco......

LC softshell on bottom of casserole dish.
Layer of ground beef, already cooked
Then layer of pizza sauce of your choice.
Layer of mozzarella cheese.
Then I do it all over again, and put in the oven for 30 minutes, give or take....

If I want Mexican instead, I layer with ground beef, shredded American or cheddar cheese, and salsa.

You can add sour cream, refried beans, and tortilla chips for crunchy.

You can also make one side low carb, and feed the other half to the DHs.....

Oh thanks for the recipe, Karen. I might just have to try that this week.

Things aren't going too well this week with having the kiddies and all. They are being great, but it's hard to stay out of the stuff I have around for them. We normally don't keep bread in the house, or snacks like cereal or cereal bars, etc. I've been indulging and NOT exercising like I know to do. As much as I've enjoyed them, I will be glad to get back to "normal" eating. One more day.

We got hammered...........up to 1/2 inch ice on everything, and no electric since yesterday about 1:30 pm. Luckily our house holds heat very well, and we had time to fill all livestock tanks before we lost power.
My folks (82 yrs old) we had on backup generator last night. Now they have power back, so we can at least have enough power to get the fridge and freezers back to temp, and tanks all full again.

House was down to 60 degrees this morning, so have to see how fast the corn burner can heat up a big house. (We live in a 55 ft diameter dome home--3800 sq ft) Just like an igloo with windows.

Said it could be 3-5 days before electric restored. If we are lucky, we aren
't hooked up to that line.

And yesterday, all the ice, some idiot got stuck at local lake putting out an ice house, so tow truck had to go out!!!!! I stayed home.\

We are adding a charge to our billing sheet. It is labeled S/C----that would be the Stupid Charge.............

Oh nooo, Karen. That sounds downright scary. Are the dome houses easier or harder to heat? Seems like if you had an upstairs? it would heat quickly, but don't know if you can do that in dome homes.
Glad your parents got their power back quickly and hoping that you will too. You certainly have interesting lives. Stay warm.

Nah, mom and dad lost power after lunch. So we took the generator we had snitched, and guys are hooking it back up at their house. DH had to dig out our big generator (and diesel tractor) and hooked it up, so we have heat again. The house is up to 65, and I can fix supper tonight, so that is a big plus. Diet is out the window.....DD and I cleaned out the ice cream that had gotten too soft in the little freezer. But Cookies and Cream shouldn't go to waste....... Now to go out and do the chores here, do DH doesn't have to do anything after he gets done at my folks' with chores.

Our house is extremely easy to heat. We lost power at 1:30 yesterday, and it was 60 degrees when we got up this morning.

But I wont crank up my good computers on tractor-generated electricity. Too much chance of a surge. So W2s and 1099s are going to be stacking up quickly, with lots to do , and not much time to do it...........

Tickled today, had to go to the doctor for a Pap & discuss my blood sugar. My blood sugar is dropping quickly and she suggested I have a little protein shake in the mornings. ROFL!! WOOT! I love this doctor - even if she does leave me sitting naked on the table for 30-45 minutes before coming in. Ok - that's not the only reason I'm tickled. I weighed in at the doctor's office - fully expecting to groan in disgust - I started my period which always brings weight with it, plus I'm clothed (at least for that long) and yet, I was LESS than at my TOPS weigh-in on Monday! Not much, but it was 286-something. Very shocking. Very exciting.
I tried to do a shake, but I need something to mix it better. I'm going to go to Costco tomorrow and pick up a Magic Bullet. It rocks to have my doctor behind all I'm doing w/ low-carb & shaking it.

I've been MIA for a while, so playing catch-up. I'm trying to get over the shock that Barbara is no longer on the board. What a loss!

Karen, I hope your power is back on for you. We lost it intermittently here in the week between Xmas and New Year's, but have it now (now that the windchills are above 0 ). I have my heat off and it is 62 inside now, but that is just because I am still in shock over my December electric bill.

Afuentes, congratulations on reaching your goal!

Linda, thanks for posting the Almond Flour Fudge Cake recipe. I got some almond flour for Christmas and have been trying to figure out what to do with it. I wonder if you could make that recipe into muffins?

Wishing everyone a sugar-free and happy 2010!

Hello - I am dealing with Aunt Flo this weekend so I am off the scales!!!

Hey there - has anyone read "The Warrior Diet"? I really want to find it at the library and read it.

Congratulations, Melissa. It's working for you and your doctor being behind you rocks.

Karen, hoping your electric is back on by now. It looks like we will be getting another big cold spell at the end of the week, maybe snow again. Ahhh, this has already been a long winter.

Shadows, I understand you trying to get over the shock. I think we all are.
I'm sure you could make the cake into muffins. Just don't cook as long. Hoping your weather has been better also.

Afuentes, good for you for staying off the scale. Sometimes we just need to do that, lol.

I haven't heard of the warrior diet, but I bet if I went to Amazon I could find out something about it from the reviews. It sounds like it might be Paleo.

Scale says 155.5 this morning. I haven't been doing good at all. Had the grandkids all week and ate the stuff I had in the house for them.....not good. Back to basics now and hoping the scale will go on down. House is cleared out of kids stuff, now to just stay away from the cheese.

We do have electricity back and a little warm air took some of the ice off, so tree damage is over for now. Nasty, Nasty storm.......

Eating has been lousy during this. And today DD (in college in OK) was in Omaha NE for horse event, so we went out to see her. So Egg McMuffin for breakfast and Long John Silver for lunch................no wonder the scale isn't going down.......

Hello, all!

Karen, glad you have your electricity back. Storms are very bad here, too, and it is cold, for us!

Linda, I am trying to get back to my healthy basics also.

Eating was way caloric and not so good last week, even though I lost a pound of scale weight.

Very stressed at work, not feeling well, hate this cold weather, which will soon pass (I live in central AZ, it doesn't stay cold here long).

Afuentes, would love to hear what you think of The Warrior Diet, I saw it on my e-reader list while browsing.

Shadows, here's to a sugar free year for sure!

Brand New Me, hope you like your Magic Bullet. I've used them for years (have had two or three, mine last a long time but get old eventually, but they are great). Congrats on your good weigh-in.

Suze, I agree that whatever you are comfortable with and that works for you is the way to go.

Metqa, I smile every time I read about the coffee vampire.

***
I am closing my eating cafe soon, should get one more protein shake in.

Very stressful work week coming up, the goal is to NOT take it out on my body by tons of bad food, since I want to feel well.

Man, I have to fess up here. This is for accountability, right????

After all the bad foods and carbs that cook up easy during this electicity and ice issue, I am up to 186.5 this morning.

And swore I would never get back up towards 191, where I started 3 yrs ago........

This morning, coffee with cream and a little Davinci syrup for BF. Nothing else but vitamins and coconut/flax oil. No more pop..........I am going to quit buying it, even if it is on sale........

Already laid out chicken breast to thaw for supper, with lettuce salad. Now at mercy of what my mother cooks for lunch.

but this has gotta stop here. By the way, snowing and blowing with possible blizzard conditions here, and another Alberta clipper coming our way (really cold temps) This is really tough on cattle and people, after awhile. Seems like this winter just keeps on coming this year.....

Wishing everyone else better than here.....

Karen, sorry for the gains. I SO understand. It seems to happen just overnight. Constant vigilance is what it takes and sometimes we just let our guard down....easy to do.
I hate it that you are getting hit so hard with winter this year. We have more coming also, on Thursday, sleet n' snow but they don't know how much yet. Hubby went out after last storm and bought a generator, so we'll be ok if electric goes out.

Amandy, congrats on losing your lb even if you are eating too calorie dense, or feel that you are. Hoping you will have some warmer weather soon. Living in Az. will help, I'm sure.
Hoping things will go better at work for you this week also.

Afuentes, I was reading the reviews on Amazon and it looks like the Warrior diet is your basic whole foods/unprocessed food plan but involves eating once a day and eating pretty much what you want, within reason, I'm sure. Sounds a lot like the Fast 5 and would be easy to incorporate into your WOE, I'm sure, if you only eat within a small window anyway.

Scale was down 1 lb to 154.5 this morning, so it's a relief to see it go back down with a little surveillance and fewer carbs. I made liver & onions yesterday and they were so good I had trouble stopping, even when I was full. I don't make them often but I love them. I also do NOT buy them at the store, since the liver stores toxins and there are a lot of toxins in store bought meat. I buy from a local co-op and it's grass fed beef.
Still have a looong way to go to get back to smallest <sigh>

Yes I bought the Warrior Diet over the weekend and I love it. It is like what I am already doing. It fits me well. I definitely recommend reading it!

Karen - I hope things get better.
Melissa - congrats on the loss.
Linda - you'll get back on track when the kiddies leave.
Sorry if I missed anyone.

WOE: Paleo & exercise!

ladies! Hope you don't mind if I join you. IF worked very well for me a couple years ago and I am needing something to jumpstart my losses again. I've been bouncing 143-145 and wanna get ito the 130s in the worst way. I am following a LC WOE and exercise daily. My final goal is 125...I'd LOVE to get there by my birthday in June....we'll see. For now I plan to open my window at noon each day and close at 5. Day 1 and I'm doing well so far...
