I've been peaking in on this thread for awhile now. Did anyone who preordered the book get the free bonuses Jorge offered on his site? The audiobook explains a lot. Jorge says to reach the 15/6 numbers, you should aim for your three big meals to be no more than 5 grams of sugar and 2 servings of carbs.

He also says that you do not have to eat each and every sugar gram and carb serving, that if you wanted to get the majority of your carbs from veggies, you could do that, as long as you make sure to get in the fiber. So it doesn't have to be as much as 120g carbs per day, that's just the maximum. That's great to know.

From some of the meals he outlined, it seems like a very liveable lifestyle. I'm planning to start tomorrow. Woohoo!

Didn't pre-order the book but I will be buying it when it is more easily available in the UK. I probably know everything in it anyway, but it'll be good to keep me on track.

Hi ladies, I've been reading the post and this way of eating looks pretty good to me. So today was my 1st day doing 15/6, here is my food list.

sugar free pudding = 0 sugar & 12 carbs
arnold bun = 2 sugar & 21 carbs
cheese = 1 sugar & 0 carbs
turkey lunch meat = 0 sugar & 0 carbs
lean cuisine pizza = 6 sugars & 49 carbs

total of 9 sugars & 82 carbs = 9/6 is this correct?

Hope I'm doing this correctly.

My starting weight is 194 waist is 40".

Hi Kalp and
Yes you are adding it all up correctly! It is better though if you stick to only (up to) 2carb servings per meal (and around 5gr sugar). This is sometimes easier said than done! I have not been 100% religious with this woe but I have stil seen some amazing results and will be doing this for the rest of my life.
Good luck!

Everything is going good.

Scale read 191.5 today waist still 40"

Maybe I should be taking my belly inches. OK that = 48" today, well see how the inches come off there.

Just an FYI-If you go on google books you can read the first three Chapters of the book. I am not officially on plan but I follow loosely! Kim

Hi! Just found this thread. I am doing the 12wk coaching with Jorge on the BFC. I started at the end of October and have lost 22lbs as of today. I had 40lbs to lose when we started! So I love this plan!

The plan is very simple: Always look for your protein first, then add your good fats and fiber. You can have no artificial sweeteners (Jorge says they are excitotoxins) but can have stevia or the other natural sweeteners (maltitol, xylitol, etc). You dont subtract Sugar Alcohols or Fiber from your carb counts.

Just a note, you dont add your whole day together to get the Carb Servings, you add each meal together. Each meal should never go over the 5/2 with the whole day not going over 15/6. Jorge says anything over 5g Sugar and 2servings Carbs locks in your belly fat and raises your insulin levels.

I started a website called http://meandjorge.blogspot.com Me and Jorge to track my progress and detail the plan, since so little is available. If you look at the post called "How the Belly Fat Cure Works for Me" I have a lot of details there!

Hi. Can anyone please help with my question?

Does he mean no *added sugar* when he says 15 grams?

Most veggies in their fresh form have naturally ocurring sugar...do you count sugar grams in raw cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes etc., too?

Not sure about whole grains but same question there

Thanks for clearing this up!

Also, where does Jorge stand on good fats/oils?

Can someone give an idea of what would be on a *free foods* list?
Thanks!

Hi Catkin
Yes he means all existing sugar - so you do have to count sugar in fruit/ veg etc. Most proteins (meat fish eggs) would count as 'free' food but you must ensure you eat high fibre carbs too. Jorge encourages good fats. Good luck it is worth it!

Just read the book. I've been following efgt for awhile now. I'm thinking about trying this.
Question... anyone who's been following for awhile... Have you completely given up artificial sweetners?

I just finished reading the book today.

Yes after what I just read DH & I will clean out the house of all artificial sweeterns. I can't believe how much artificial sweeterns we have been eating, it's in everything, even my sugar free stuff has "aspartame or sucralose" in it.

Tomorrow being the 1st of 2010, DH & I will follow this plan 100%.

I'm going to look for an Ice Cream maker, so I can have/make my own ice cream for a evening snack.

Let me know how the plan is working for you!

I have MAINLY given up artificial sweetners but occasionally - and especially when I first started - I succumb to a Coke Zero (better than giving up altogether)
I am waiting for his book to be available in the UK so until then I'm just following the plan the best I can.

Happy 2010 EVERYONE!!

I just read all the posts. I ordered the book from Amazon a couple of days ago so should have it soon. I have been following the Metabolism Miracle, but have not seen any pounds lost - however, the inches are slightly less. This is quite similar, but with a bit more freedom in the way you can count your foods.

The original pounds lost were with Atkins. I was looking for something with a bit more freedom, but maybe I had too much freedom???

Keep up the good work and this thread - especially now that the book is out!!

Aloha

Question for all you experts....

If an item as less than 5 grams of carbs, we don't count it....BUT.....how many different items per meal? I was thinking tacos..... 4 for salsa, 2 for lettuce, 1 for cheese.....it adds up. They can't all be "free" can they?

Someone else my be able to answer this better than I can but, with the cheese for example, Jorge does say to use a sensible approach. I have emailed them before and they replied very quickly.

Any suggestions for snacks good for 'on the go'?

In the book Taco's = if you were to go out to eat at a fast food place
Taco Bell:
Taco Supreme = 2/1
Grilled Steak Soft Taco = 2/1
Fresco Crunchy Taco = 1/1

Hope this helps, to me it looks like all the cheese, salsa, lettuce is free because it's under the 5 carb mark, the sugar must come from the taco shell.

Some snacks items from the book are:
String Cheese, walnuts, almonds, hard-boiled egg, ruffles original potatoe chips 1oz = 0/1, pringles original chips (1oz) = 0/1, cheez-its crackers (27) = 0/1, gold fish crackers (55 pieces = 0/1, York sugar free peppermint patties (3 pieces) = 0/2.

The book is great very helpful.

I will have to look into ordering the book from the US - it would be good for renewed inspiration. Does Jorge have any tips for desserts in the book? I currently have a mini wholwheat tortilla microwaved with 85% choc and a couple of raspberries. Other ideas would be great though.

Thanks again guys!

As for dessert, we're gonna try sliced fresh strawberries with unsweetened whipped cream. Maybe frozen.

The problem with 15/6 is that I run out of fingers

Hope people will keep posting. My book was sent out today by Amazon. Thanks for the info you have been imparting - I'm just watching the sugars. It is nice to be able to have a few more foods than strict low carb.
