I did o.a. for almost two years. It taught me a lot. Our group was very diverse, we had the whole range of disordered eating people from anorctics to complusive overeaters. Our group was large, usually around 15 to 20 people. O.A. does have 'food plans' but they don't consider themselves a diet group. You can find a meeting in your area by doing a search on their website (I can't remember their website, maybe overeatersanonymous.org ?). If you haven't tried already then you should go to a few meetings. It might help you. :-)

WOE: Weight Watchers....again
OA meetings depressed me. People cried so much and told about the most horrific problems they had. Unfortunately it was such a downer every time I went that it did not help me.

Then they weren't doing it correctly. You are supposed to share your experience, strength and hope and concentrate on the solution not the problem.

I went to about 2 meetings a week for about 3 years. I saw hundreds of people come
in and try it and a lot had short term sucess. But long term sucess was rare. I no longer
go.

I join online meetings whenever I can. The recovery group dot com has meetings every three hours.

Sickntired: I don't eat anything that includes grain of any kind or sugar. If you avoid processed foods, it is easy. the closer you stick to meat, eggs, veg and fruit, the less you have to worry about that stuff.

It made me feel worse, too. I thought the group FAIRA would help my ED and it did not. I've come a long way since then but even with WW, I have to make sure I eat healthy and within my points and not overly obsess.
