The new WW plan!

We love WW but we also LOVE LOVE the LC woe. Dilemna: when points are calculated, fat grams makes the points in foods so high when we know that it's not the fats that make us fat but the carbs. So I've changed it and I'm going to track my progress. What I've done is replaced the FAT grams in my calculator for foods to find out points with CARB grams..so now when I track my points the latter is based on calories, fibre grams and carbs, not calories, fat and fibre. I've test run foods on my "new" system and it works out great. It stears me away from hign carb foods and it encourages me to eat high fat foods by keeping my portions under control. I'm also using the max points ..so for my weight my daily point amount is 23 + 5 flex points/day and 2 APs..so that's 30 points per day.

What i love is that now my CO is not 4 points per T but 3 points and if I want to have a cookie (high carbs but maybe low fat) it's not 2 points but 4 points..anyway I'm going to see how this works out which I believe it will and I'll report in.

If any of you are doing WW and would like to join my journey, please post your progress here!

Can you run the math by me again, please? Am I right that you've also changed the order in which the components are calculated as well as swapping carbs for fat? If so, this sounds verrrrry interesting, especially if I go on Core.

too complicated for me. It's easy enough to just not eat carby foods.

Pretty cool idea.
I still have my desktop WW calculator.

I would just count 50 calories as 1 point and ignore fiber/fat though. Not the same but it helps. Then again, it might be easier to just count regular calories, if you must do so. LOL.

I'm on ww, but to ensure that i dont eat to many calories for my body weight i count point's because you can eat anything you want on WW, so 50 cals is one point, That is the way i have always calculated

Good Job on Tweaking the system

thanks! sorry I haven't been around ...no computer..anyway I have been doing the new system ..and it's working out great. REgarding some of your posts regarding just sticking to LC, I do like this method b/c if I do eat something that's not LC I can take it in account for my daily points also instead of stearing me away from high fat foods, it's steering me away from high carb foods b/c they become higher in points! But if I do eat a cookie or if I want to endulge in in-season fruit ( I love apples) I don't have to feel I'm off plan...

My favorite foods:
I love snacking on almonds...before for 22 almonds WW pts were 4 pts . Now when I replace the carb grams in lieu of the fat grams I can have 27 for 3 pts. My CO has gone from 4 pts/1T now 1T is 2.5pts...as for an apple was 1 point before..now its about 2-3pts depending on the size...

I'm a lurker on this board, but I wanted to log on and say that I think this is a REALLY great idea. I'm going to try it myself.

I find when I do WW, I eat so many high carb foods(because of the fiber content) and very little protein, so I tend to get very hungry.

I just re-started WW (again) in hopes that I will be able to do it this time around. I started out doing the regular plan this morning, then I remembered your post. So, I'm going to continue on counting carbs instead of the fat.

I hope you keep us updated on how you're doing. I also hope this "reverse" plan works for me.

Thanks

Karen

ETA: I using the Atkins Carb Counter booklet to figure out my points, since it has calories, fiber and carb listings in that book.

wow...for my interest I looked up McDs cone and with the old WW it's5 points but with my system that's carb sensitive it comes out to 7 points....I believe it's accurate.
I believe I have TOM coming and my interest in food has been nil andI have not really been good with the quality of my food. My portions have been fine but I have not really paid attenton to my nutrients and working out has been nil other than walking daily. I want continue to expand my list and really have a good idea of my points and my daily target and refocus. My weigh in is tomorrow and I'm excited ...I doubt I've lost weight but I am looking forward to it as it will be a time to refocus

This is exactly what I needed. I like the WW points plan because it's just boundaries on the amount of what to eat. However, I find myself gravitating towards too many carbs overall and when I do that the grazing monster hits. Fat stops the grazing cold.

Off to redo my points!

I was and still am very confused about WW. I got a trial week from their online site and wanted to see what they really have that would make me want to join. I mean, I can (re)join Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous for $0.

I want to see how well you do, Healed.

I'm keeping up with this thread as well. I'm a lifetime member for almost 3 years and getting sick of counting points and that's why I wanted too try Core or something lo carb. I lost 1.1 pounds my first week.

hI Kaimi..that's awesome..so you lost 1.1lbs on Core? It seems like many people do well on the program. However when you check out the success stories online, it's usually the flex ppl. A calore is a calorie...except some are hungrier then others...due to the lack of fats

This thread is very interesting. I'm assuming that it is the fat/12 that you changed to carbs/12 in the formula.
I'm a lifetime member, who joined WW a few years to get rid of my quitting smoking weight gain. The only way I got rid of the 30 lbs was to start smoking again.
But the one thing I really disliked about WW Core was that they insisted that eating FF stuff loaded with HFCS was healthier/better for me, than eating less processed foods.
Anyhoo, I quit smoking again over a year ago, and once again, I have over 30 lbs to lose. I managed to gain this by following WW.
I gave PPL a try, and stalled out after one month. Stuck with it for another two months, and am now waiting for the copy of Rob Thompson's low GL book to get here.
I really doubt if I could stick with Atkins long enough to work my way through the phases.
May play around with this idea and focus on low glycemic load foods.

hi I also am a life time member of ww. I have gained a few lbs.
I have tried several different ways to lose the gained weight
for over a yr. now. I think today is the start of ww for me again.
I will do flex because core does not work for me. I like it because
there is no food off limits as long as you have the points fot it.
so today is day one.
