Flat Belly Diet

Has anyone tried the Flat Belly Diet? There seems to be a lot of advertising about it.

Pretty interesting. Does the diet work if you don't include all the carbs?

It seems to be about adding fat (MUFAs) to the diet (just like Atkins does)

I ordered the book last week and just got it this morning. I will probably start reading it this weekend. If it's no good, I'll just add it to my mass collection of diet books...LOL. I will let you know

Kim I just saw your thread. Did you try the Flat Belly Diet? I just pre-ordered it from Amazon, I think it's an updated version from what you have, what's updated I don't know. It will be released next Tuesday so I don't know how long it will take for me to get it. Was interested if you'd tried it. Your thread may be more posts now when it's released on the 28th.

I found it to be similar to South Beach in the foods you can eat, but with MUFAs added. Nothing that we don't already know research-wise.

You have to eat a series of 4 x 400 calorie meals with a MUFA included in each meal. It doesn't really give a list of foods to eat either, just the MUFA list and a general idea of what kind of foods (whole grain, lean meats...). They did have some recipes at the back, but they looked kind of complicated for everyday use. I like simple stuff to make, nothing fancy.

I think I'll stick with Low Carb. It's something I already know. But I do like to read all the information available out there when it comes out. I have quite the collection...

The book was available long ago if you ordered directly from Rodale; it's just now coming out in stores on the 28th.

Hope this helped

I am about this close to order the book online (16 something no S&H) cause I went to Borders yesterday, just as the lady put it on the shelf, and it was 26 dollars there!! All in all it is nothing so totally new, it is about eating healthy, but as I glanced through it I thought it looked like a good read. I am a big fan of eating lots of mini meals so you never get hungry when I need to lose weight. It is the only time that I feel I don't think/obsess about what I am not going to eat or miss out on,lol. Ash

My copy is floating around the Bellbrook post office somewhere, it was scanned at 7:30 a.m. this morning so hopefully my book and my Tink DVD should arrive from Amazon.com tomorrow. I'm glad that you thought it looked good since I ordered it sight unseen from them. Can't remember what I paid for it, something like $16.77 or so, not over $17, I don't think.

I tried it when they first released the diet online, months ago. My calories were actually set at 1100, which I didn't like. It wasn't enough food for me, and I was hungry most of the time. The MUFA's at every meal was a nice tagline, but I didn't see any real advantage.

sounds kinda like burn the fat feed the muscle....good fats, eat 4 times a day, etc etc.

i saw the prevention lady on one of the morning shows today. she suggested it was 1600 calories. the reason for the mufa's i think she said because adding them is what makes you lose the belly fat.

not sure how, but im sure its in the new book....as far as reading the book? education is always key. im sure it has alot of nutritional information in it regardless of the program itself.

good luck!

Lori, what little I've had time to read in my book, it's 1600 calories and the extra is coming from the MUFA's. haven't read much about it, but that is what little I have picked up thus far.

Rachel, you look great. I saw some posts that you did a while back. Looks like you've got the diet thing figured out and you look wonderful. What diet do you do most of the time? just curious, always looking for some ideas of what works for people and what they like about their diet.

Have a good evening everyone. Setting my clocks back in a few minutes, all gazillion of them in my house.

I'm interested in starting this and was hoping to find some info/support for free. I didn't want to join the on line program and pay $20 or so a month. If anyone is interested in starting a support thread here, let me know!

The easiest way to reduce the weight!

Weight control has become a hard work for us due to the busy life. We are not even able to go through our regular exercise.

I bought the book from Amazon and received it last Friday. I would be interested in a support thread, I haven't been able to read it due to watching my DGD2 and my mother that is rehabilitating from a serious accident in which her sister was killed (hit from behind by a guy that was daydreaming. long story) but hope to be able to read it this weekend.

I was just talking to my aunt and she has been doing this for 3 months and swears she sees a difference. She doesn't really have much weight to lose, maybe 15 pounds, but she says her belly is smaller. She eats only natural, unprocessed foods, drinks no soda, no preservatives, etc. Also she eats olive oil or almonds with pretty much everything.

Edit: I am also sorry for your loss. I did not read all previous posts before I posted. Did not mean to be insensitive.

Thank you caters, and I didn't think at all that you were insensitive. I am happy to hear that your aunt has seen success on this. I read a little bit last night and although we have been hit with $1300 car repairs in 2 weeks, I got a few things that I needed to start it. Didn't get the stuff for the Sassy water as it was a little too expensive for what we have right now after the repairs and the holidays coming. I'm going to make sure that I get my water in and I'm sure that will help. There's a few things in the water (ginger root, cucumber, lemon, mint) that steeps through the night in the refrigerator, but I'm going to have to go with plain water for now. I can't wait to see if it works, this is definitely something that I will have to take my lunch to work because I work at a daycare and the food that the little ones eat is not Flat Belly Diet friendly!!!

Just wondering what everyone's WOE plans are for the holidays? Are you cooking at home (hosting), taking things that you can eat? And what about parties? I don't have holiday parties this year, other than Christmas dinner with DH and my family and BOTH of them are planning pizza. WTH? That's going to be hard to work around, and yet I don't want to NOT eat it because I've done so many diets that I haven't stuck with (don't want to say they didn't work cuz I DIDN'T work them) and don't want to get the "yeah, another one of her crazy diet) looks from everyone.
