"Soy/Whey Diet"

This diet showed up in a magazine. I did some research. It seems to be working for a lot of folks! They are reporting a shed of about a pound a day in the first week!

In short one eats:

Breakfast: 1 whey shake, made with soy milk and why protein, with 1/2 cup frozen fruit

Lunch: A soy bar or another shake with fruit

Dinner: 4 oz lean meat with 2 cups steamed vegetables
or Stouffer's Lean Cuisine, Healthy Choice, WeighWatchers, Smart Ones prepared dinner of 300 cals or less.

Each meal must have about 20 g of protein.

Anyone doing this?

Are you serious!?!

I eat more than 5 times that and am losing pretty much 1/2 a pound a day.

Don't starve yourself for a few quick pounds. They'll come right back on as soon as you try to eat regularly. Is there a reason you can't or won't commit to Atkins or South beach?

I have committed to Atkins. Pounds stopped shedding, so I went to South Beach. Pounds never did shed with South Beach, and I did follow it to a T. Due to gastrperisis, I tend to eat something like the Whey/Soy program anyway. Nausea is a huge factor, so making sure I drink something that is also nourinsh seems to be a good idea. I think my system is out of whack from the nausea and vomiting. I just got a gastro pace-maker, so I hope that will help what I do eat stay with me. Meanwhile, I remain hydrated. So far, the shakes are staying with me. This is my first day. I guess I am just searching for a way to shed pounds and eat.

I have not weighed agian, but my clothes are much looser. I don't do scales! My skin looks very nice! I am not sure how long I can do this little diet, but for now, it is working well with my stomach.

I am getting food to stay in my body. That to me, is a big step in the right direction. Before, I would eat 1,200 or more, vomit most of that back out. . .leaving me ?? calories?? I guess it is hard for others to understand how hard it is to keep food in one's stomach when it is paralized. In short, it is not easy. Also, there is the 24/7 feeling of having a stomach virus. I figure all in all, I am getting more calories this way, as the food stays in. Also, my body is receiving food on a regular basis. By the way, I also snack in between shakes. To someone with a "normal" stomach, this may not seem like the way to go, but for someone without a "normal" stomach, it is about the only way to go. I am just trying to keep what I do eat in my stomach, until it has a chance to digest it properly. Otherwise, it sits for 12 or more hours in my stomach, until I get sick.

I am glad you found something that you can keep down! I am a nurse and always feel for patients when I work in the GI unit. I know how painful and frustrating things can be. No matter what plan or WOE you are doing, as long as it works for you keep going at it!

I'm glad it's working for you too. Soy is scarey though...it's not a good source of protein and can cause thyroid suppression. Watch for signs of that on this diet. When I eat soy I get pretty nauseated, but you said you weren't, so that's good.

I pretty much gave up the soy portion long ago, as I agree, it is not good for humans. I stick to the protein. Thanks!

I just gave up soy myself...and I think it is best for all of us... Congrats on your plan, I hope it continues to work for you...
