Can I come back girls? I was with you all til about 6 weeks ago. A month ago today my mother was in a horrible accident on a highway here in Ohio. A guy in a heating/ac van hit her from behind (she's 80) and sent her from the middle lane, across the left land (it's a 3 lane highway), across the grassy median and across all 3 lanes of the oncoming traffic before hitting a Lincoln Towne Car head on. She suffered a fractured C-2 and C-3 in her neck (vertabrae) and her whole left side was crushed because the car that she hit, hit her on the drivers side. The day after the accident, my Mom suffered a slight stroke of the left side, but she's slowly getting use of her left side back. My aunt (she resided in Somerset, KY and was 79) died minutes after the crash of blunt force to the head, neck and torso. They were both wearing seatbelts, they said that the only thing that saved my Mom's life was that she was wearing a seatbelt AND Miami Valley Hospital Care Flight Ground was right behind her and saw the whole thing, so she got immediate help. The driver of the car that she hit suffered a broken leg, broken wrist and broken collarbone on the left side. The driver of the van was unharmed. They did a alcohol test and he was negative for that but the drug test results haven't come back yet. He said it was a Friday night (it happened at 4:45) and he had one more job to do before the weekend and he was daydreaming. I know myself that I've daydreamed behind the wheel, I think we all do from time to time, but this was very tragic. I'm sure he will feel awful for the rest of his life. My bro, a retired sheriff's deputy said he'll be charged with vehicular manslaughter, at the very least. So far, we're still waiting for the drug test results.

So, anyway, I have lost 17.6 pounds since Christmas but I gained 1.8 last week and I feel like I've gained this week. I feel partly for the gain this week that I'm retaining water, I'm drinking water like crazy hoping to get it to release, but so far it's not co-operating.

Some new faces here since I left but I'm glad to see the familiar ones still here. I've missed you all, I hope to be able to post daily, if not every other day.
Welcome back !!

Sorry to hear about your mom's injuries and the loss of your aunt

Congrats on your loss so far !! You'll get back into the swing.....you've been thru a lot lately

Refresh my memory.....are you FLEX or CORE? Any short term goals?

I tried the carmel and loved it........UNTIL I realized it had Manitol or Mannitol in it, and that resulted in nasty gas

Good morning ladies Rebecca. I am so sorry for your loss.

Well I made it through the weekend (thats my hardest time)
I made some boiling meat and egg noodles last night. Comfort food my mom used to make. It was actually quite easy to make it low fat.

When you look in the book and it says mashed potatoes are 2pts for 1/2C are they figuring in the milk and butter to make them???

Anyhow today will be good I went shopping yesterday and am stocked for the week!

B- Coffee, cream 1pt
Cantalope 1 pt

Wheat Thins and FF Cream Cheese 3 pts

L - Pita, canned chicken, red wine vinegar, lettuce 4pts
Soup 2 pts

D - Pork chop lean 4 pts
cauliflower 0

So far thats all I got, Ill update as I go.

That's super !! Weekends are getting hard for me with the BBQs and summer activities.

I have a plan all set, but it files out the window with a couple beers. I guess I really have to give up drinking

Hydration Calculator Results - How Much Water You Need to Drink Today
Here is how much water you need to drink today.

A person who is 195 pounds
and is exercising for 30 minutes ,
is not pregnant,
is not breastfeeding,
does not live at a high altitude,
does not live in a dry climate,
drinks 1 alcoholic drink(s),
when the weather is not very hot or very cold,
and is not sick with fever or diarrhea should have:

108.5 ounces of water today, or 3.3 liters.
If you eat a healthy diet, about 20 percent of your water may come from the foods you eat. If you eat a healthy diet you can drink 86.8 ounces of water today, or 2.6 liters.

Remember that water is the best source for your daily fluid needs. Other good beverages include milk, herbal teas, low-sodium broth, 100% fruit and vegetable juices. Soft drinks will also count toward your daily total of fluid, just remember that sugar sweetened soft drinks and fruit juices add extra calories to you daily diet that you don't need.

Hi Reg, I'm flex. I'm getting to a point where I'm getting tired of counting points and South Beach is sounding good, but WHEN i count my points, it works (imagine that??). I guess what I'm looking for is a miracle, quick fix and I know there is no miracle or quick fix. I just get so tired of being overweight and having to count points. IF I would just buckle down and DO IT and GET IT OFF the problem would be taken care of. And, the stress lately isn't helping. To beat all, I had car trouble in the horrible part of downtown Dayton going to see my Mom at her rehab facility (DH is in Canada fishing til Saturday). I had to call a tow truck, DD took me about a 45 minute drive to DH's bro's house to pick up his car to use til mine is fixed. I think I just need a punching bag right now and then I'll probably make friends with the Flex program again. I'm weighing in tomorrow, i know I've gained this week, so tomorrow will be a new start.

Aren't you all glad that I came back after that rant and rave in that last paragraph. Seriously, I'm not usually like this. Tomorrow is a new day, Scarlette!!!!

Thank you Reg. Today is a new day so I'd done ranting, that is UNTIL I talk to Ron and see what's wrong with my car. He's getting pretty close to retirement age and then his son will take over the business. Hope Ron's training him good.

Going to weigh in on my way to work. Reg, I'm not glad that you're counting points too but I am glad that someone understands. Maybe I just need to get my head put back on straight, after all, counting is a small price to pay to be able to have a good program that you can live with. It's just with all the "new" programs out there it's easy to want to see what other's find successful, but WW was successful in the past for me, so maybe I should just stick with it. Maybe count points but use the "good carbs, good fat's" attitude of the SB???

I did SB for a while but didnt lose more than 15#.

How about FLEX with more CORE foods ?? My memory sucks, but I believe that's going on here. I forget who suggested it though.

I have not ventured into the CORE waters yet, so I dont know what it entails. Hopefully someone here can give you the 411

OMG, I didn't gain this week, I lost 1.4 this week. I gained 1.4 last week, so at least I'm back where I started before last week. That's 19 pounds total since Christmas, and in October I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. The doc said that if I hadn't I probably would have doubled that, so he says be happy that I'm losing (but I want more, don't we always want more). I have to figure out how to get past the 19 pound mark, I go up and down and up and down, I'm self-sabotaging myself, I know why, I'm scared to get thin again. I know that's crazy but I am and I know what I'm doing, so I just have to figure out how to get away from that.

talk to you guys later tonight.

Thanks Reg. Now going to take a short nap while Alyssa is napping, her Mommy will be here soon to get her and then the rat race will start going to my meeting and then to see Mom. I still haven't heard about my car, darn it. I'm getting worried that it's something major, but I know he was closed last week for vacation and he's really backed up, so maybe it's okay. But still.... not trying to stress eat, darn it. Wish he would call!!!

REG, You weight loss goddess!

Just wanted to send you SKINNY VIBES for your weigh in tomorrow.

I have a MD appointment tomorrow and I will report after she weighs me. You can't walk into the door before they want to stick you on the scales.

Good luck

I bumped into some ex-friends today and after getting the silent treatment and having them ignore me all the time I caught one of them off guard and said "Hi" and smiled. Our kids bowl in the same bowling league in the summer. Next week I'll catch another one. DH is proud that I took the high road It felt good to be the "better one" and off course I wanted to make sure they saw my new body. So......I may have taken the high road, but it was part of my devious plan
