Next week we'll start a "PATP" challenge.

We'll start small for the newbie-water-drinkers and work our way up to the WW guideline.

Those of us who drink more can be part of an even bigger challenge.

More info on Monday !!

That sounds like a good challenge for me, Reg. Will it be a different thread or just a challenge on this thread. I'm with you on it.

Hi Reg, what's a "PATP" challenge? I'm working on drinking more water during the day and it helps when it's hot in the warehouse where I work. LOL.

Take care,

Now I can roll out of bed and not put brows on or eyeliner. I have to go back in about a month for a touch up but it won't be as intense, I would like to get the liner done just a little thicker but DH and DD like it the way it is, and a girl that I work with at the daycare says she thinks it's perfect, but I would like it just a LITTLE heavier.
Rebecca,

May I ask you a few questions about your permanent brows and liner. I am scheduled for brows, liner and lips July 30. I have it planned that I will be off work for 5 days. I hope that will be plenty.

My question is.. Was it very painful? I just think the liner would be very painful. Do you keep you own brows along with the permanent inked one?

I am excited but so very nervous.

Thank you! I was so excited to read your post. I just broke the news to my hubby tonight and he was very supportive. He usually is.

Sounds great! I will be 2 weeks caffeine free tomorrow. I am trying to increase the water this will be great for motivation. MD has me stopping caffeine and decrease carbonated beverages until I see the specialist.

Babbs, she used a gel to numb the brow area and eyelids. The brow was just a little uncomfortable, but the liner hurt like he11. But, it was worse on the left eye and that is my worst one with allergies. But towards the end she had to practically pry my eyes open to finish. BUT, even though, like I said it hurt, I would DO IT AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT. Kind of like labor, you swear while you're in labor that you'll never have children again and afterwards you're so in love with your baby that you forget all about the pain that you went through. It did get me a gorgeous planter from my mother (haha, she sends flowers to me for the silliest reasons, even got flowers when my 22 year old cat died in 98). Don't know about the lips, haven't had those done. I don't have any brow hairs, tweeze them all out because they've become so white (my hair is very grey, I color it) but the girl that did them has a few brow hairs on hers. My SIL is so blonde that you can't see her brows and she had them done awhile back, DH noticed them and I didn't, when I decided to do it he said, "I think Linda has permanent brows too," and Linda and I were talking about it the night that my Mother was admitted in the ICU from her car accident. After a while you run out of things to talk about so Linda and I were talking about our permanent makeup and my brother and Kim (my DD) were talking about their hearing aids. LOL. Kim went almost deaf last summer and she had a stapledectomy (removal of her own staple bone in her right ear and a replaced with a prothesis) to keep the 30% hearing that she had left to delay losing what she had left) and she has a hearing aid now in her right ear. It's very little and pink, almost flesh colored, it's one of the newer kinds, so she and Bill (Bro) were comparing theirs (they're the same type). LOL.

But in answer to your question, I thought it was very uncomfortable, but again, I would do it in a heartbeat. I have to go in 3-4 weeks to get it touched up, the touch up with my girl is free (part of the original "tattooing") and she said it would have to be touched up every 3-5 years, depending on my skin and how quickly it fades.

Rebecca,

I just knew you was going to tell me it hurt like hell. Why does beauty and vanity have to be so painful?

She told me how I take care of the first week is very important. Whatever that means. She said it would fade in 1-5 years and need touched up.

Did you have it done all at once? I wanted mine done at once because I may never go back.

Thank you so very much for the information. I can not believe that you posted it just when I was making an appointment for mine.

Hey Babbs, yes, i had them both done at once. DON'T PICK, I mean when they say don't pick the scabbing (they're tattoo's) that's what they mean. I asked her to get it as close to the tear ducts (liner) as she could and she did, but I picked a TEENY piece that had started lifting when it started to heal and it was in my line of vision, so I picked it off and the color came with it. so that's part that she has to touch up, and on the same eye, the brows towards the outside (temple area) I picked a tiny piece of that too, so she has to touch that up as well. When did you say that you were going to get it done. If you can make it though the procedure, you will be SOOOO happy that you had it done. I can get up and not really do my makeup if I wish, but I still do my shadow, mascara and blush (I usually eat my lipstick off so I don't use that on a day to day basis.) but I've gone to work with just blush on and it looks fine. And I'm one that DOESN'T go out fo the house without my makeup, and when I was in labor with Kim almost 26 years ago, I had my makeup on about 15 minutes after I got into my room. I'm so excited that you're getting it done, I don't know of anyone that had it done when I had mine done (DH said that Linda had her brows done, but I didn't talk to her before I had it done and DH has been known to be wrong, but he was right with Linda this time) but the girl that did mine had her little baby in the nursery across from ours (I'm in nursery 2, older babies) and she left her business cards in Nursery 1 and said she would do the procedure for anyone in the 2 nursery's for only the cost that goes to the doctor that she works for (she works for a plastic surgeon)

Cant wait to hear what you think of it when you have it done.

Rebecca,

I am waiting on finally appointment confirmation Monday. She said most likely July 30 or 31.

I well let you know Monday on final date. I want to have 3 or 4 days off work because of noticeable swelling. I do not want to be a walking advertisement of my vanity.

Hey Babbs, there's a REASON that DH wouldn't take me to that funeral the day after I had it done!!! Yeah, by Tuesday I was much much better (even Monday, for that matter) and I had it done on a Friday afternoon. She said there wouldn't be as much swelling with the touch up.

Tammy - Wow! When I read about the issues with your mom and sister over your lasik surgery (and, most likely, your life ), I thought I was reading my own diary! My mother, rest her soul, never approved of much that I did, in particular, my marriage. Neither did my sister. They both worked for years to convince me that I'd made a bad decision. It's so difficult when the ones you love and NEED for support can't give it to you. I wish there was some way to fix it, but, unfortunately, you just have to stay strong and prove them wrong in the end. Good luck! I will be waiting for updates on the surgery!

Reg - Congratulations on 193!! You are doing an awesome job! Just wait until you get under 170!! I'll have to break out the (point-free ) margaritas!!

Pammy - (and anyone else with kiddie clothes laying around) There is a site called Zwaggle where you can trade kids clothes with other people. You basically sell what you have (clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, whatever) for their points, and then you can buy what you need from other people. I don't know how old your kids are now, but it might be worth looking in to for some folks. People have some really NICE things up on there!

Every time I see patp, all I can think of is Pay At The Pump. I really need to patp, though ... I don't drink nearly enough water.

Okay ... time for me to come clean. I have had a baaaaad weekend so far. My paychecks get mailed to me from one of the families I work for. The one with 2 kids, so it's the bigger of the checks. Their checks arrive by Wednesday, every other week, and they are like clockwork. Until this past week. By Friday, I still hadn't recieved my check, and the family couldn't understand why, based on the date the check was cut and mailed. So, needless to say, we didn't get our groceries bought last week, waiting on the check, so come Friday evening, there was NO food in the house except for a package of cupcakes DH had bought a week before and a can of sliced beets. (There goes grandma, haunting my cupboards again ... I don't buy beets! ) So we took the little check I HAD gotten to the bank and decided to grab something to eat out before coming home. DH wanted to go to Perkins pretty badly, so we did, with me thinking that surely they would have at least a salad that I could get.

Weeeeelll ... they have salads, but they are LOADED with junk! I asked the waitress if I could get the chef salad deconstructed, and she said she would check. Ten minutes later, she came back, saying that the salads were already made up, but I could pick out whatever I didn't want. I said no thanks to that. The things were crazy with cheese, olives, crispy chicken, bacon crumbles, etc. So, I checked the sandwiches, thinking a plain grilled chicken sandwich sounded good.

That daggone restaurant didn't have a single grilled chicken sandwich on the menu!!! So I settled for a fajita wrap, which CLAIMED to be a flour tortilla with onions, peppers, and steak strips. NO mention of cheese at all. When the wrap arrived with my cup of mixed fruit (which was yummy, I might add ... they do good fruit cups. ) the wrap itself was FRIED, STUFFED with cheese to the point where the grease was dripping off of it, and had 1 puny little strip each of steak, onion, and pepper. I ate about a third of it and all of my fruit and took the rest home, hating to leave it sitting there. I felt so betrayed! It was so far from what I had thought it would be. So, we came home and I chucked the box in the fridge. I went to bed hungry and bitter. (You don't mess with a fat redhead's food! )

Yesterday morning, sis and I worked out and went to breakfast. We split an order of strawberry-topped pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon at our favorite breakfast restaurant, and I felt really good about how we'd done. Sure, the bacon wasn't such a good choice, but their bacon is the sort that you HAVE to have when you go there ... it's so thick and yummy!

I got home and cleaned for a while, and, eventually, got hungry for lunch. Since I didn't want beets or old cupcakes, guess what was left in the house for lunch? Yup ... that dumb old fajita wrap from Perkins. So I pulled it out, squeezed some grease out of it, and heated it up. It was tasty, sure, but guilt-ridden, too.

THEN ... a friend had a party last night. A housewarming party for my sister, I might add ... we went to it (thank heavens my brother drove me) and I started off drinking a few Jack Daniel's Downhome Punches.

Then the hors d'oeuvres appeared ... omg ... I tried to stay good ... I had one tortilla chip with a little jalapeno dip, just to taste it and be polite! I had one piece of rye bread with cream cheese and cucumber ... just to be nice.

Then, someone cornered me at the table and started talking to me. Soon, we were tasting everything there, going back for more of the best ones. I glanced around, hoping to catch a friendly eye, and, seeing my sister, locked eyes with her, desperately hoping she would come save me, which she did, leading me to the fridge for a refill on my drink. So it wound up not being the save I needed.

Soon, they served dinner, which was burgers, hot dogs, and bratts. EVERY side dish had sausage or bacon IN it, including the cole slaw.

It was delicious, I might add. Not that I'd know that first hand. OF course I had to eat it, since the hostess was RIGHT THERE, talking to me, and I was starving. My appetizer binge only proved to prod me along that course of action.

Here, we fade out for a commercial break. Soon, lights come back on over me standing by my brother's car, loaded up with a giant gift basket my friend got for me full of margarita mix, Jose Cuervo, and big old cactus glasses. At that point, I was full up with a bratt, sausage baked beans, bacon cole slaw, fruit (yes! fruit! If only I'd found it sooner!), mac and cheese with bacon crumbles, pasta salad with so much cheese it was more like cheese salad, jalapeno dip, jack daniels, gin and tonic, and pizza breads.

When we were just a block from my place, bro decided to drive through Wendy's for a "snack" since dinner had been "hours" ago. He had to pick Wendy's, didn't he? Home of the spicy chicken fillet sandwich? My all-time favorite fast-food fix! And so, here I was, sitting in the drive through, just coming down off of my binge at the party, feeling the after effects of the alcohol and food still. I'd LOVE to say I didn't get a regular coke, spicy fillet, and fries. I'd really like to say that, but I can't.

I ate it.

All of it.

It was good.

I made a lot of bad decisions, and skipping my meeting this morning didn't help any, so I came here. I have NOT given up! In fact, one GREAT thing happened last night. My check came in the mail while we were at the party, so as soon as my bank-mart opens, I am getting dressed and going grocery shopping, filling my cupboards and fridge with Core foods. The next time I go to ANY party, I am checking the menu beforehand and insisting on bringing something to share. Looking back, a veggie tray with LF ranch dip and some sort of casserole would have been not only welcome additions, but would have saved me immensely.

I will not dwell on the past. I've made my peace with it over and over again. Weight loss, like many things, is a journey. We may take detours, but as long as we keep our compass and map at hand, we'll never be truly lost. I know I'll have my ups and downs, but if I stick with it to the best of my ability, I am a success, no matter what the scale says. Oh, and speaking of the scale. I put it out of sight. I will NOT be stepping on that thing, except at meetings, for a good long while.

You're right. It is a journey. Thanks for sharing that this morning because I really needed to hear it. I'm really struggling right now and I honestly feel like quitting.

That's a great idea to put the scale away....I probably need to do the same thing...too bad I can't put the ww scale away too.

You are a success and don't forget that!! I hope you have a great day.

Again thanks for sharing.
