Good morning, all.
Had a huge talk with our senior VP yesterday about some processes I've developed for our department. He was in favor of all of them. We also had a problem to discuss and my art director was there to support me 100%. I've been stressed about this meeting for several days and it was nice that it had a very positive outcome. I left feeling valued and supported and wanting to stay on this team. You are all making me smile with your push-up challenge What a great way to get some exercise in during the day. Kind of like sneaking veggies into a pasta sauce. ![]() Wolf, I don't know if you found someone to answer your questions, but I am divorced. My daughter's dad and I just filled out the paperwork online together and submitted it the state of Utah. (So we were in agreement on everything, and there wasn't anything messy...there wasn't even a lawyer involved. So, I might not be your best help. But let me know if you need a listening ear, I will help if I can.) Eating is 100% on track right now. It helps that I don't feel like eating that much during the summer and when I'm with Mark, I'm on girl eating, LOL. I'm not trying to eat small amounts around him, but when I've got a crush, it just happens. The rest of the time, I'm just keeping my meals really simple and eating a lot of fruit, veggies, and two or three servings of whole grains a day. It's good. Will check back in a little bit later! Thx Barb and Rach- and Rach look for a pm.
Despite all the emotional upheaval that has been going on lately- I have been doing good with the eating.Of course right now being VERY limited on what I eat is helping! And what exactly is an egg cream? LoL! I have bought some of the food items for THE FLAT BELLY DIET. It has a strong basis on MUFAs- which are monoUNsaturated fatty acids. It says that they have the opposite effects as the bad kinds. I also received 2 exercise DVD's with the book. One is sort of like Leslie Sansone (sp?) where there is inside walking involved. I know that I need to be doing some specifics to target my torso. I have already lost over 50 inches through my torso area from my highest weight. I am thinking of just going by measurements & getting away from the wretched scale. I should type up some from that book. This woman was sharing how her friend was stressing because the scale showed a 4 pound gain overnight. This nutritionist asked her- did you eat your regular meals (about 1600 calories) plus an extra 14,000 calories? She goes on to say that is what one would have to eat to gain 4 lbs. of body fat in a day!She says a huge thing is water retention due to hidden salts in foods. She also shares how sugar alcohols can cause belly bloating. Xylitol & maltitol are 2 main ones. She says like fiber, your GI tract cannot absorb them & they can cause gas, belly distension, bloating and diarrhea- how lovely. Here are some more t hings she says to avoid during this four day anti-bloat diet. Now I am sharing just because I think it is good advice. If anyone is interested in hearing more, send me a pm. WHAT TO AVOID: 1. Salt shaker, salt based seasonings and highly processed foods. Water is attracted to sodium so when one takes in sodium- there will be a temporary retaining of more fluid. This can attribute to feeling sluggish, a puffy appearance, and extra water weight. 2. Excess carbs: I don't think this is so much of a prob. here, but sharing anyhow. The book says " As a backup energy source, your muscles store a type of carb called glycogen. every gram of glycogen is stored with about 3 grams of water. But unless you are running a marathon tomorrow, you do not need all this stockpiled fuel. Decrease your intake of high-carb foods such as pastas, bananas, bagels and pretzels to temporarily train your body to access this stored fuel and burn it off. At the same time, you will be getting rid of all that stored fuel. 3. GASSY FOODS; Certain foods simly create more gas in your GI tract. They include legumes, cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, onions, peppers and citrus foods. 4. BULKY RAW FOODS: A half cup serving of cooked carrots delivers the same nutrition as 1 cup raw, but takes up less room in the GI tract. Eat only cooked veggies, smaller portions of dried fruit, and canned fruits in natural juice. This will allow you to meet your nutrient needs without expanding your GI tract with extra volume. 5. CHEWING GUM: When one chews gum, they swallow air. That air trapped in the belly can cause belly bloating, belly expansion and pressure. 6. FRIED FOODS: Fatty foods, especially the fried variety, are digested more slowly, causing one to feel heavy and bloated. 7. SPICY FOODS: Foods seasoned with black pepper, nutmeg, cloves, chili powder, hot sauces, onions, garlic, mustard, chili, mustard, BBQ sauce, horseradish, catsup, tomato sauce, or viniegar can all stimulate the release of stomach acids which can cause irritation. 8. CARBONATED DRINKS: She says the bubbles gang up in your belly! 9. ALCOHOL,COFFEE,TEA, COCOA & ACIDIC FRUIT JUICES: She says the high acidic of these can irritate the stomach causing swelling. 10. SUGAR ALCOHOLS: See above in post about this.

Rachel Happy that your meeting was so encouraging. Great on the eating & your being in "crush" with Matt.
Wolf An egg cream is 2-3 eggs 1/2 cup cold coffee (or more if you want it to be a stronger coffee flavor) 1/4 cup heavy cream 1/2 tsp Splenda 1/2 tsp vanilla 2-3 ice cubes or eggs with heavy cream & diet soda. If you do a search on the main lobbly you'll find many recipes for the egg cream. Thanks for posting the info on what makes us bloated. |

In an attempt to 'lighten' my mood and myself, I got my hair cut. A lot. I've now got a braid to donate that's ~16 inches long. It's such a drastic change for me. And I love it.
I've placed an order for a couple of George Stella books, and a LC Slow Cooker recipe book. Wednesday we get back in the pool because I'm hosting a pool playdate. According to hubby, we now have insurance, so I can get in and get my meds adjusted. I will work on getting back on plan this week. Thanks so much for all the love. I hope to be back to my own butt-kicking stride very soon. ![]()

Melissa, your hair is adorable, and it's so nice to see a picture of you!
Wolf, I replied! Barb, I had to double-check and see what I typed. Matt is the friend who I used to have a crush on. Mark is the person who I am seeing now. I thought, oops, what did I say, LOL. I need to go and buy a vacuum cleaner. My old one quit and I've got little bits and pieces of new carpet fluff and boxes everywhere. Will check in later! Rachel |

Well, ladies, I have had a very upsetting week. My immediate supervisor passed away today. He was a very good man and very good to all of us.
He came to work Monday morning late, then got sick and broke out in a sweat at work. The ambulance came to pick him up, and he walked out and got into it by himself. Tuesday they ran a heart cath and found that the right side of his heart was amost completely blocked. They immediately took him to surgery and put in three stints. He went downhill from there. Wednesday one of his stints collapsed and he flatlined. They shocked him back, but today, they said he was brain-dead and unhooked all the machines keeping him alive. I'm not sure how old he was, but my guess is maybe 50. I'll miss him a lot. Something like this makes me realize that I need to take better care of myself. It's about being good to my heart and my body, not just about weight loss. Losing weight is important, but losing it in a healthy way is even more important. I'm going to try to do better with my eating and to start exercising every day. Lately my eating has been horribly unhealthy, and I don't move my body in any way unless forced to do so. Anyway, remember my boss's family in your prayers. He has left behind a wife and a 16-year-old son. ![]()

On a happier note, I went to see Mama Mia at the movies yesterday and absolutely loved it! If you girls get a chance, go see it! I smiled through most of it to the point that my face hurt. I wanted to sing along with all the Abba songs, but I was afraid of being thrown out of the theater. I could barely sit still! It is a very 'feel good' movie.

![]() MelissaF Very cut picture of you, thanks for sharing it with us ![]() Rachel LOL, sorry for getting Matt & Mark mixed up. Guess I had you going there. Carol Ann I saw Mama Mia also but viewed it over the net. I enjoyed it also. I'll say prayers for you & your boss's family. Very sorry for your loss. Wolf You're not having an easy time of it, first the gum/mouth & now your toe. Be careful sweetie. My right bicep is sore from the wall exercise. Nothing else new with me. The scale is still bouncing a bit but nothing that a few weeks of clean eating won't solve.

thanks Barb. It was a challenge sleeping on 1 inch thick foam on the ground, but it was fun to share it with my daughter! I am not sure if my toe is broke, but is certainly a nice purple today! And hurts to move!![]() Melissa I am sorry I forgot to mention the cute cut- it IS quite the change when one cuts off that much, isn't it? I have done that a few times myself. I am feeling a difference with the small changes I am incorporating into my eating. I was noticing many of the foods on THE FLAT BELLY DIET are low carb, so easily doable for low carb. |

![]() Wolf Hope your toe starts to feel better soon. How is your gum doing? I treated myself to lobster claws yesterday. They were very salty & the scale is way up this A.M. Hope to get the numbers moving downwards again. Purchased "Beyond the Sea" DVD - Bobby Darin's life story. Did anyone else see it? I thoroughly enjoyed it. Will check in later to see how everyone is doing this Monday. Last edited by Ragdoll24 : 07-21-2008 at 06:39 AM. |

Happy Monday, all.
My house is getting closer and closer. Just two drawers left on the entertainment center downstairs, chest of drawers in my bedroom, and my daughter's furniture. It was exciting to come downstairs this AM and see that I almost have a "real" home again (without furniture parts and tools scattered all over.) It's very simple but clean and I like it. I got to talk to my DD last night. She's still having a great summer. I talked to her grandfather for a couple of minutes and he said, "thanks for letting us have her for the summer, we just love so you much for it!" That was so sweet to hear (this is my ex-husband's dad.) Okay, must grab some coffee and start getting ready for work!! Rachel |

Well ladies, I have managed to do 90 wall push ups this morning. I will probably not do as many this afternoon so that my arms don't fall off at kickboxing tonight.

Think those wall pushups are helpful avoid the "dowager's hump" of osteoporosis, too, have seen them where you place your hands higher or lower , in and out, to work different back muscles-wonder if that is in a site anywhere, physical therapist showed it to me.

![]() Missalissa Has your scale gone back to your low number since eating clean for the past week? Thanks for the link on strength training for older adults, I'll be checking it out carefully. Received the Paper Illusion/Script Illusion paper for my bathroom. Will be starting this project within the next few days. Will just do a little at a time. Still have a few other projects in the works but everthing is getting there slowly but surely, Yeah! 2lbs of the water weight has come off - still looking to see 3 more lbs go bye-bye to get back down to lowest number. Clean eating is again on the agenda for this week. |

Hi Peeps,
Can you believe we're already in the third week of July? Seems like the summer is going by very quickly. Yesterday, for the first time in I don't know how long, I went off plan, big time. I did give myself permission, and did enjoy my splurge, and no regrets this morning, but I'm happy that I can get right back to my normal WOE right away. I can remember a time that it wasn't so easy; so now, I finally know that I've re-established my good habits from years ago. I won't be getting on the scale today, cause I know what I did, and don't need a piece of metal telling me......I told ya so! ![]() Barbara, that paper illusions sure does sound nice. I had considered it, and still may give it a try for our den, but not in the mood right now. Elaine, I have osteopenia, and I try to do all I can so it doesn't progress into osteoporosis. Missalissa, how's it going with the wall push-ups. I ended up not doing anything yesterday cause I felt rather lethargic with the off plan eating, but today is a new day with new starts! Hope everyone has a good fat-burning Tuesday!

Just a quick hello. I was in a minor car wreck last night and it shook me up badly. Everyone's okay, but I'm still feeling kind of emotional about the whole thing. This morning, I'm puffy from crying, what a sight. Anyway, I've got to pull myself to |
