Rachel Hope the cramps have decided to let up on you.
Gracie I know you were a little under the weather yesterday, hope today is a better day for you.
Flower Good to see you back. As you know we don't judge anyone on this thread. Work whatever plan you are on. Good luck with eating to your BMR.
Missalissa Many of us ate "crappy" over the weekend. It's back to clean eating for me also.
JFeld Good to see you posting. Please post when you can as you were missed

The scale is down a little this A.M. but not back to the new low I saw a few days ago. I'm not letting it bother me. We all have to live with little flucatuations now & then.

Today more work goes on in the condo & I may not be able to post very much. Will try to see you all a little later.
Hugs, Barbara

This has been my problem for a while. I haven't been sticking to any kind of plan, but instead jumping all over the place. If I would just stick to something long enough, it will become habit, or second nature. Hmmm. . . .

Over July 4th weekend - I went to Taste of Chicago with DH and next day we had dinner at MIL's. Well, I didn't get to drink all my water on these days or get in all my exercise either. I brought a nice homemade veggie tray and homemade low carb coleslaw with me to the bbq. I ate chicken, veggies and coleslaw. Thought I was doing great because everything was totally low carb legal. Well, she used a marinade for the chicken and those are usually loaded with sodium. The next day the scale was up 7 lbs. Yikes!!! I didn't worry too much, I knew at least a few lbs. was water weight.

I was very good on sat, sun, mon and tues. I stayed on plan, exercised and drank all my water. When I went to my meeting - I was up 1.4 lbs. from the previous week, but I'll take that over a 7 lbs. gain anyday!!! I was just so pleased that I had lost 5.6 lbs. in a few days like that.

Anyway I decided after the holiday was over, I would really get serious about the weight loss and change things around to get things going again. The few changes I've made are the complete opposite of what most are doing here on this thread. I hope it's ok that I still post. I really do love low carb and IF, but think I have discovered something that is working very well for me now.
This is why I HATE the scale!!

Yes, please still post. Once a poster on this thread, you are always welcome regardless of what "plan" you follow! We have all tweaked our plans to find what works for us as an individual.

It's starting to happen more and more often. Gotta stop it right now before it gets out of control!

Good morning, all.

I'm feeling better this morning. I have been sleeping sooooooooooo much better at night. This morning, I almost feel like myself again.

I hadn't gotten any calls on my home phone since Saturday at noon. Which is when I moved it to a different jack, duh!! Anyway, I missed the big call from my brother: he is moving to San Francisco to design for Old Navy! I am so jealous, now both of my brothers and my sister-in-law and my brother-in-law will be out there. Oh well, it's not too expensive to fly out there to visit.

Flower, you are always welcome here. We're all on the same journey of supporting each other in figuring out what works, even if we're branching off in different directions. There's plenty of room on the path.

Barb, good luck on the projects today!

Missa, that happened once before on another thread I was on, ha ha ha. We'd all get PMS-y at the same time, LOL.

Carol, that is a great quote. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Tor, how's the fasting going?

I bought a great book last night called "Your Money or Your Life." Now that I've spent and spent this summer, I am ready to put together a budget and start saving again. I have felt fearful about money and bills for a long time, and I want to find financial peace.

Okay, must get ready to work. Hi to anyone who I missed!

Well founded confidence

Got this in an email this morning. Thought I would share.....

Well-founded confidence

How is it possible to move confidently toward the future after experiencing
a disappointing setback? By learning from that disappointment, and knowing
that you can adjust your approach accordingly.

If confidence resulted only from success, no one would ever have the
confidence to reach success in the first place. In all confidence there is
necessarily an element of faith.

Certainly past successes can add to your confidence, but past
disappointments do not have to erode that confidence. Because you have the
wonderful ability to improve with each effort. You can make adjustments and
apply the lessons you've learned through experience. Those valuable lessons
are yours to use in a positive way no matter what has happened before.

The powerful fact is that every experience can add to your confidence. The
cheers and the sneers, the compliments and the complaints, the wins and the
losses can all build confidence.

Take the best from what has happened and add the best of what can be.
Move positively forward with a realistic, well-founded, ever-increasing
confidence.

Good morning! I am fasting today, and it is going well so far. I started the fast at 6pm last night. I worked out last night and not eating didn't cause any problems. My weight is holding steady at 135...I am hoping to see a drop by Friday morning.

Ragdoll - Sorry to hear about all of the house problems you have been having!

Rachael - That is awesome that you bro is going to design for Old Navy!! Will you get a discount?? I love that place!

Missalissa - Thanks for sharing the e-mail! Who is Linda Sue?

Off to lunch!

An old timer from LCF. She has a website Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home with lowcarb recipes and menu ideas.

I have several favs from there, but was just wondering if anyone else had a favorite I might not have tried yet.

Tori, he's currently a fashion designer with Abercrombie and Fitch. My daughter is going to be disappointed that she's not going to get any free (expensive) clothes from A&F. I imagine that he will get a discount from Old Navy, too. He's very talented, and it's really fun to walk into a store and know what he designed.

Missalissa - Thanks for the link!

Rachael - Your brother sounds very talented. My brother is working on a film degree...maybe someday I will be at the movies watching one that he directed!

Well...I broke my fast at 1:00. I am regretting it now, but it was still a 19 hour fast. I went home at lunch after my meeting and thought about grabbing something to eat, but told myself that I could wait. Then I get back to the office and change my mind and eat cold cuts, pickles and saltines. I wish I would have gotten something homemade w/ veggies at the house, but oh well. 24 hours is totally doable, I just have to stop letting myself talk me into eating!! Tomorrow is another day though...I will have breakfast and lunch and start another fast at 6pm.

I may end up doing a schedule where I only skip one meal a day:

Day 1 - Eat breakfast and lunch
Day 2 - Eat lunch and dinner

We'll see what evolves next week. I will be out of town this weekend so I expect to fast during most of they day, but not at night. My workouts have been going well...I am feeling tighter under the fat!

Missalissa - I've tried some of Linda Sue's recipes and have loved them all!

Here's what I tried:
Deep Dish Pizza
White Castle Hamburger Pie
Enchilada Bake
Tuna Patties
Seasoning for Tacos

Easy Ice Cream
Strawberry Dessert Sauce
No-bake Peanut Butter Cheesecake
MIA831's Peanut Butter Fudge
Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake Cups
Paula's Magical Peanut Butter Cookies
Ellie's Peanut Butter Cookies
Carolyn's 3-Minute Flourless Choc Cake
Fluffy Buttercream Frosting

I keep a folder with all my printed recipes in it, so it was easy to look at the folder. Wow, I knew I've been doing a lot more cooking and baking since October, but didn't realize I tried that many LS recipes, lol!!!

Hi Tori ! Sorry, I haven't posted in a while and wanted to say hello!

Thanks Barb, Rachel & Missalissa! I don't have an eating window right now and I'm not eating super low carb anymore either. I'm just experimenting with what works for me and I think I've discovered it. Most of my carbs come from veggies, fruits and whole grains. I will always stay away from refined carbs - junk food, white sugar, white flour, etc.

Barb - I'm eating more calories than usual - but it's still not to my BMR. My BMR is 1800 cals a day, and it's just a bit too much for me. I have been eating 1000-1200 calories for months now and was perfectly happy with that. I was eating a lot of nutritious foods and was not hungry. The last few days I've been eating more like 1600 calories and have been losing! I still keep within my WW points range, so I'm comfortable with 1600 calories. I'm eating breakfast again and eating a small meal every few hours. I'm trying hard to eat light at night, and it seems to really be helping.

Rachel - that's great news about your brother! Yes, about the PMS thing - I totally agree! It seemed like when I worked full-time - all my co-worker friends and I would get it at about the same time. I also notice that happens to me with a lot of my friends here too. TOM just left last night and boy was I ever happy to see him go, lol!

Dear LC/IF Friends,

Am switching to more of a CAD WOE temporarily.

I am in the process of being screened to donate a kidney for a friend in great need and had the RN coordinators question my lab work. They wondered if I was dehydrated when I went in for the lab work and I told them no, I had been drinking plenty prior to the testing. They questioned me further, telling me that they didn't understand why I had so much protein and ketones in my sample! The light finally went on for me and I told them I was on a LC WOE. They were a bit relieved, but I got the distinct feeling that they would rather not see so many ketones (I have not been testing for ketosis, but I guess I was/am in it) in my urine if I am donating the kidney.

Anyway, until all the tests are completed I decided to get at least some more healthy carbs in my system - I reaallllly want this to work if at all possible. There are so many variables that can stop the donation, I want to address any obstacles that I can.

It is a long process - tomorrow we both go in for cross match bloodwork and it will take up to two weeks to determine the results of that testing. Then if everything turns out well I will have further tests like EKGs, CAT scans etc.

SO, until this process is over by successful surgery (the best result) or if I am turned down for some other reason here is my eating plan:

3 meals / day:
2 LC meals
1 smart carb meal
LOTS of Water.

My personal goal is to not regain any of the 44 lbs that I have lost so far- but if I do I am going to be okay with that. There is always time to do a faster weight loss AFTER this .

As you can probably tell, I am not a medical person so any who are please chime in with any suggestions, etc.

And I ask all of y'all to please keep my friend in your prayers - she is a great woman, a fabulous mother and really is struggling just to get a life back and be there for her child for the long haul. It would be an honor to be a part of the healing.

Thanks all!
Peace,
Katy

Happy Wednesday!

Well, my sil left about a half hour ago, and all in all, it turned out to be a very pleasant visit. We spent a lot of time shopping, going to the beach, and she insisited on me not doing any cooking, so we ate out a lot.
I was very careful with my eating, and no weight gain during this past week, so am pleased about that.

I will be back later w/personals, as I want to get my workout in and do some quick morning chores.

Cya all a bit later.

Katy, I think your new eating plan sounds just fine. Don't be surprised if your scale goes up a bit during the switch over to CAD. Your body needs more water to process the carbs. It will level back off. Be sure and keep posting here even though you are not going to IF right now.

I admire you for your willingness to help out your friend. Donating a kidney is a very honorable thing to do. I will be praying for you and your friend!

Good morning! The scale isn't budging...I'm still holding onto 135. I am hoping that it is muscle gain that is keeping the scale from going down. Clothes are starting to fit better so I know that I am losing some inches at least. Today I am eating until 6 and then starting another fast. I am liking this schedule so far b/c I can work it around days that I have lunch meetings and such.

Flower - Hello to you! Sometimes our bodies just need a shock to start losing again and changing plans can do that. I'm glad that what you are doing now is working for you!

Katy - That's awesome of you to be donating a kidney! Your friend is lucky to have you! What is CAD?

50by50 God bless you for your wonderful generosity for trying to donate a kidney to a friend. I will pray for you & your friend. ITA with everything Missalissa had to say about a slight weight gain when starting CAD.
Gracie Glad to hear that your SIL visit was pleasant. Now you can get back to your normal routine. Good going on not gaining with eating out

I had quite a bit of upsettment yesterday with a city inspector who came to sign off on my new A/C. He said I needed a permit for the hot water heater that was previously installed & basically was threatening me with fines month after month. I lost it completely & slammed the door in his face. Hopefully the construction guys on site at my condo will talk to the inspectors they know & make the problem go away.

Had my new recliner/glider delivered & it's just great. Also had a new TV corner stand delivered for the old heavy TV. That still has to be put together. My contractor in now installing the new flooring so everything is on it's way to getting done finally.

Will check back later to see what's happening with everyone.

Had my new recliner/glider delivered & it's just great. Also had a new TV corner stand delivered for the old heavy TV. That still has to be put together. My contractor in now installing the new flooring so everything is on it's way to getting done finally.

Will check back later to see what's happening with everyone.
Barb, sorry for all your troubles. Jeez, why does everything have to be sooooo complicated?

Tori I can answer the question on CAD = Carbohydrates Addicts Diet. The premise is to eat one or two strict LC meals which are called Complimentary Meals. The other meal is called a Reward Meal & allows carbs but the meal must be completed within one hour. There are quite a few great folks on the CAD thread that have had success with this program. Some of the gals only eat one Reward Meal a day & eat whatever they like within the one hour time limit. So the plan can be a fast for 23 hours & then one meal of eating carbs. One gal has lost over 100 lbs this past year. Another gals has lost 80 or so lbs I believe. HTH

Motivational Quote for the day

When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn. ~Harriet Beecher Stowe
