Posting a quickie this morning; have a lot on my schedule today, and have already been out in the garden for almost 2 hours; beat the sun this morning, and almost done with the tidying up, but want to finish completely, cause I have someone coming in at 11.

Well, that was fun.. Severe thunderstorm blew through last night and our house, or very near to it, got hit with lighting. Blew out our DVR, DSL modem, and an XBox. DH had to go to 2 Best Buy's to get another DSL modem (1st one was out of stock on ours) to get us back on the internet. Fun, fun, fun.. From the electronic age to the stone age in a split second.
Anyway. I'd decided to have the Chinese food last night, but ended up eating by candlelight in the midst of a severe thunderstorm. I'm not sure I ate slowly or enjoyed the food enough..
I'm up 1 pound from yesterday which isn't bad. Luckily it doesn't feel like I cheated, or I have to start over at square one. Just got up this morning and started coffee. Right back.. well, I can't say 'right back to plan' and it's a lifestyle so it's not like cheating even, right, it's just another aspect to the lifestyle. I fit the Chinese food in and keep on trucking. Since we do it so infrequently, and we get a healthier version from Trader Joe's.. I'm not going to feel guilty about it. It's going to be part of my lifestyle. If that's my only 'deviation' from LC, .. ok, sounds like I'm trying to hard to justify right now, but I'm cool with it. Moderation in all things, right?
Anyway, enough of my pre-coffee blabbering. Y'all have a great IF day!

I've got carpet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I walked in and it looks so nice (the paint and the carpet) that I started crying, thinking about how lucky I am to have a nice place to live and how hard I've worked to get here.

Furniture will be delivered tomorrow and put together Thursday night (maybe Friday night, too.)

Barb, my dd is having a wonderful summer, and I miss her a ton. I can't wait until she's back home in late August. I'm glad she's not here for the remodeling, though. It's been stressful enough for me to sleep on the floor and not be able to easily get my stuff.

Melissa, I hope he loves his job. I think that "healthy" is a good focus and that part of that can be incorporating foods you love. I think there's good emotional and physical health related to eating. Ultimately, it's about making choices that serve us well ALL around.

Gracie, hope your gardening is coming right along!!

Hi Everyone! Some of you may remember me, most not. I did IF last year around this time with success, but whatever happened I don't know. I have managed to maintain for the most part but struggle with what WOE would really be sustainable for me.

I have been reading the IF thread for the past year and trying to keep up with those I remember from last year. Missalissa, I remember when we were cheering you for getting into onederland! Look at you now! You have remained an insightful, supportive and SUCCESSFUL group. I haven't kept up with all that everyone is doing, but I do have a question...

I have been doing the JUDDD WOE and liking it. Is anyone else doing this form of IF? I know some tried it last year and gave it up. Just wondering if I would fit in here.

In any casecheers to all of you!!!!

Jenny, we are a very supportive group. We'd love to have you here. I didn't like JUDDD, but I love to cheer people on, no matter what plan feels right for them. We're all different, and we need to find what works for each of us. I hope you'll stay and feel free to post often!!

Thanks Rachel! I do remember you doing JUDDD last year at some point, but don't recall what you didn't like about it. I have followed your success (and trials!) and I admire your tenaciousness!

Like I said, I have struggled this past year with what will work for me, so I have hesitated to join any group for fear of dropping out. But if you all will have me for what I can contribute I praythat I can stick to this WOE and support all of you too!

Hi Jenny,

I was having a really hard time with the low calorie days on JD. I was getting cranky and was an emotional wreck. Then I started obsessing about food (which also happened when I did a very low carb, low cal, low fat diet in May/June.) I really like the concept of JD, but I had to keep creeping my calories up on the down days to overcome the emotional struggle.

I believe a year is the longest I've stayed with any group on LCF, which says a lot for this group of wonderful ladies!! They've seen me try all kinds of different things and have only been supportive the whole journey.

Jenny. Good to have you here. As Rachel says we are a very supportive group & are non-judgemental when others want to try another "tweak" or plan. We are all interested to see what works for everyone & why Jenny, I also tried JUDDD for a few days but found the very low calorie days without the high fats very hard to deal with so I went back to Atkins LC.

My new cable HD box was connected yesterday & works well. I bought a new cheapie VCR but haven't been very successful getting that to work so far. Will buy a new cable today & try a slightly different hook-up.
1 lb of the birthday weight decided to leave this A.M, Now getting the rest to leave will be my focus.

Today on NBC at 9:00 A.M. on the Regis & Kelly show, Kelly Rippa will be running a marathon with many others in high heel shoes. Hope everyone makes it o.k. without any falls.
Have a great Wednesday everyone

Hi everyone,

Having issues with my teenage son. He hasn't worked since April. I told him he could take off for tennis which ended around middle of May.

So I used some "tough love" and cut off his cell phone. Now he's furious. He wrote me a note saying I don't have a relationship with him, that I don't know him at all, that I say everything is his fault. That he's applied for jobs that he's given out his cell phone number for.

I'm going to stay strong and not turn the phone back on. He's got to learn somehow that he needs to accept responsibility for his actions.

So, say prayers for me that we can both learn from this experience.

Thanks,

Theresa

Rachel Congratulations! Your new carpet is finally installed!

Jenny I couldn't agree more about we gals being very supportive and non-judgmental. You'll find that no matter which plan we choose, we all like learning how others fare with their WOE.

Barbara Ah, the downward trend has begun again....am happy for you. Thanks for the reminder on Regis and Kelly!

Theresa, A tough time, those teenage years, for both the teens and parents. Hold your ground, and he will respect you...maybe not now, cause he's a bit angry, but it will pay off.

My sil is coming for a visit, and I have mixed emotions! I'm not particularly fond of the woman, because she has a critical and cynical attitude.

I do love my husband a great deal, so I'm going to do my best to be make her feel comfortable. I won't take any c*** from her though, and my husband is telling me that if she crosses a line, then push her right back......Oh I don't like confrontation, but I'll take care of business if I have to.

Oy, a vent early in the morning......I'm sorry about that..........

Everyone have a great fat-burning day, and I'll bbl!

Ciao~~

Good morning all,

I am just waiting for the furniture to arrive, so working from home for a bit until it gets here Mark is going to come over tonight and help me move the boxes to the correct rooms. Then we are going to put together whatever we can on our own to save me a little bit of money. My bill came in much higher than what I'd budgeted, and I'm annoyed with my contractor and myself for not keeping an eye on what the actual expenses were as they occured.

Theresa, it's good that you are doing this now. ((hugs)) I see so many young people at my work who don't understand that there are consequences to their actions and that you have to work to get the things you want. There is one guy who has been skating along for months--he shows up about 11AM each day, often leaves to play golf during the middle of the day, is text messaging his friends almost the whole time he is at work, often misses meetings, and leaves way before 5PM. He was hired at my level (manager) and he's going get fired as soon as the higher ups catch on a little bit better. Anyway, my point is, he feels entitled to get something (pay, benefits, a nice title) for nothing, and it's probably because his mom never took his cell phone away when he was younger. Hang in there, what you are doing will have a big payoff.

Gracie, I was thinking that I spend so much time and energy thinking about reshaping my body...but I also need to work on some personal stuff! I woke up this morning thinking about how I need to learn a way to confront people without feeling all guilty and ripped up inside. So when I read about you and your sister-in-law, I thought, yes, I want to be able to do THAT. I want to maintain my good-natured personality but also be able to feel good about how I handle conflict. Anyway, it's on my list.

Barb, wow, running in high heels? Is it to promo those shoes that are suppose to feel like tennis shoes? I hope everything goes well!!

Have a good day all!!

Rachel

Thanks guys.

You guys made me feel so much better!!! I am so soft hearted when it comes to my kids. I know I feel guilty because I'm divorced and we have a broken family, but like you said Rachel, if he learns now to work for the things he wants, it will save him much heartache later.

Have a great day everyone, and thanks again for all the great thoughts!

We eat tons of vegetables and fruit, meat, and some nuts. I have recently hit a real standstill in my weight loss. I have been within 2 pounds of 155 for 5 weeks now. It is really driving me crazy.

So, now I am changing some things. I have changed my exercise regimen and am trying IF. I am curious how you guys do IF. Daily? Weekly? Any tips for a newbie?

Thanks in advance

Yeah - I discovered that last night. We got Little Caesar's which I usually love, but this time it really didn't wow me. I get more enjoyment out of my LC pizza. The Chinese food is usually one of my favorites, but DH forgot the teriyaki chicken which is my favorite, and I was way too upset by the thunderstorm to savor the meal. I hope the next one will be better. It's the one vice I'd like to hold on to, and I'd hate to lose it, too.
I was tempted today, went to Stevie B's after a jump-house w/ the kids. But, I stuck to a salad and had them make me a LC pizza. Felt good in the end.
Have a great IF day y'all.

"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." – Sir Winston Churchill

That's me! I seem to fall down a lot when it comes to a weight loss plan, but I must be enthusiastic, for I keep getting back up and trying yet again!

Tomorrow I'm going to try my best to get back into an IF schedule. It is so hard to get going again after allowing myself to get used to snacking all day long. I'd kick my own butt if my thighs weren't holding my foot back!

Carol Ann I hear you on the snacking all day long. It is hard to get back on track but it's doable & definately worth it.

Missalissa Glad you survived camp - you were missed & it's great to have you back.

Melissa Hope you are now using a good backup power supply on you new modem so it doesn't get fried again. A regular surge protector isn't enough. Both Gracie & I decided to buy a new powersquid calamari for our computer/home theater protection (from powermax dot ...) since we have many lightening storms in FL.

Rachel How did the new furniture installation go? Hope you are pleased with everything. Relax & enjoy your new remodeled condo.

Gracie Have you heard from your DH? Is he back on his way to FL? What is his ETA?

Theresa Hope DS is getting over his "snit". Will keep you in my thoughts & prayers.

Greetings to everyone reading this thread.

I'm happy to see that the scale is starting it's slow decline once again. It's always a challenge to get back on plan after taking a break. Really hope to eat as clean as possible for the next week without any slip-ups. Anyone want to join me?
Will BBL to check in to see how everyone is doing

Barbara - we do have stuff - bought mondo stuff out here when we first moved because there's definite weather here, versus in Southern California. Honestly, there's not enough surge protection in the world to protect it when the hit was as close as it was that night. We just got very unlucky. Or lucky. Probably both. Could have been worse. lol

Happy Thursday all.

Mark came over last night and helped me put together furniture and cut up boxes. We are probably two days away from being finished. I had a falling out with my contractor over my bill, so I told him that I'd just have some friends help me put together furniture. So, things are not quite the way I'd hoped they'd be at this point, BUT it's so great to find that Mark is a very helpful man and we had a great bonding experience putting together my couch, loveseat, chair and taking everything of out of the packages and etc. It was really fun figuring out how to put everything together as a team (and this kind of stuff is potentially stressful--it was good to see our personalities mesh.)

Barb, I'm glad that your scale is going back down again!

Carol, I agree! Sometimes the most important thing is to never quit trying.

See you all a bit later!

Barbara, talked to him a few minutes ago, and they're due in this evening, so I have the entire day again to myself, and think I'll go shopping!

Maintaining this WOE has taught me that we're going to have off days, and is an intrinisc part of the plan. It's knowing when to stop those 'off' days, and knowing our bodies well enough how much we can deviate.
You seem to know this rule very well, and use a great deal of common sense approach.
