Thank you for noticing my stats.....yes, and I've updated again this morning.
Yep, the mirror and our clothes are the best barometers, although I'm enjoying the scale reflecting downward.

Obviously I need that 3rd leg - exercise - to lose weight at a decent rate.
I've seen a pattern of that bouncing about 4-5 days, then it stays at a lower rate, then bounce, lower, stay, bounce. It can get frustrating if the scale is your only barometer.
Glad you're feeling better, and exercise does help in so many ways!

Went to my last (and favorite) aunt's funeral yesterday-she was 96 and had Alzheimers, so it was really a tribute instead of a grieving session. What a lady! She used to do her housework in high heeled shoes so she would be used to them when she went dancing, which was the joy of her life-all of us learned basic ballroom dancing when we were children-even in her later years she would show up at the dances I play for, barely able to walk, but she could still dance. Was widowed twice, always had a boyfriend.
Here's to you, Aunt Mary.
I am convinced after all the funerals I go to, that all you take with you when you leave this world is the kindness you have shown to others.
I will stop my sermon, I am pretty tired after traveling yesterday, and I think I will spend the holiday out in my yard talking to the flowers.

Elaine Sorry to hear that your favorite Aunt Mary has passed. Sounds like she left you with many fond memories. Enjoy being in the garden with your flowers. Hugs, Barbara

Wishing each of you a safe and Happy 4th of July!!

Have to run to the store and get a few heads of cauliflower to make some cali-salad for a bbq.
Was going to go to St. Augustine for fireworks tonight, but the traffic on I-95 is going to be too crowded, so a few of us will be headed over to the Flagler Beach for what is usually a good show of fireworks.

If I get the chance, I'll be back a bit later.

Elaine, those are wonderful memories. What a classy legacy she's left. ((hugs))

It was nice to sleep in without worrying about the painters arriving when I was in the shower, ha ha. I think I might go and look for curtains and lamps today--I am ordering the rest of the furniture from IKEA for delivery next Wednesday! I can't wait to sleep in a bed again!!

I am going to finish my coffee and then make a list of things to work on today.

Happy Fourth!!!

Hi everyone, I am new to IF. I just started Monday and for now I decided to fast until noon a 2-3 days a week.

I started losing weight in January. I started at 181 and I am now 155. My family and I have taken the healthy road together. I have five kids and all of us eat, more or less, Paleo style. We eat tons of vegetables and fruit, meat, and some nuts. I have recently hit a real standstill in my weight loss. I have been within 2 pounds of 155 for 5 weeks now. It is really driving me crazy.

So, now I am changing some things. I have changed my exercise regimen and am trying IF. I am curious how you guys do IF. Daily? Weekly? Any tips for a newbie?

Thanks in advance

Hi there Tee and welcome! Those are excellent results, and good for you for putting your family on the path to healthy eating too!!

I believe that all of us IF daily. Our windows and what we eat within the windows do vary, though. My current window is 12-6, and I'm a vegetarian, eating moderate carbs. Many of us follow Fast-5--if you haven't read the free e-book, it's a good starting point--and some, like me, slightly modify it.

For a newbie, I'd say--don't rush the window. If you can't make a five or six hour window immediately, that's okay. Start with a 10 hour window and then go to an eight hour window and etc.

Here's how Callanetics is reshaping my body, even with no pound loss on the scale:

Can't wait to see where I am at in four more weeks
It's good to see my hard work and efforts to stay on plan paying off in pictures, even though it has been discouraging on the scale.

G'Mornin, Peeps!

Tee Welcome, and hope you post often!!

Rachel, your new avi is yet another awesome picture!
Good going on the Callan!!

Barbara, glad you enjoyed your dinner last night!

Nitenurse, keep hanging tough.....eating right will produce the weight loss eventually!

Wonderful bbq yesterday, and everyone loved the cali-salad! It was much appreciated as the bf of my neighbor is on low carb, and I didn't know it.

Last night saw the fireworks and had a great view from one of the boardwalk entrances to the beach.
Getting home was a nightmare, taking an hour for what is normally a 11 minute ride. Didn't get home till 11 pm.........whoa!!

But, today is a new day, and I have a hair appointment with a male stylist late this morning. My friend told me about him, and her style is awesome!!

So, I'm going to get ready and get meself moving, and hope to be back a bit later......

Have a good one....

Ra

Scale was up again this morning. I feel fat and horrible. I think we can get back to activity again, we all seem to be nearly all better.
I think it was hard to see it because I was being so active and already losing at a good clip, but the cold made me lose some weight. DH has it and he's lost 9 pounds in just a few days. I guess it's not surprising some of it would come back, but it's so heartwrenching. I was so close to 20 pounds down!! <sniff>
I will be damned if I'm going to go back up over 300, though. No freaking way!!! 299.2 this morning. Time to put a stop to the backsliding!

I hope everyone had a Happy 4th!!!

I haven't been at home the last 2 days and didn't have time to post. On thursday, my dh and I got the chance to take a train downtown to go to the Taste of Chicago. Well, getting there wasn't bad. We decided to walk from the train and must have walked 5 miles to get there, which was just fine - great exercise. But, when we got there is was so crowded!!! It was so crowded that to walk through, you had a person within an inch of you on all sides and kind of had to push your way through. My dh bought a sandwich, but that was it. I didn't want anything there because we were going to watch the fireworks and try and find a nice restaurant to go to afterwards.

So, we had a great time watching the fireworks in Chicago and then had to walk back - which again was horrible with all the people. Then, we had to catch the train and there were about 1000 people crammed into the tiny train station waiting for the trains. I was so thankful to finally get on the train and get back to the town we live in, lol. We ended up going to a restaurant where we live. I really wanted a steak - but decided on a nice cheese omelet and bowl of soup instead. It was pretty yummy. The scale was up a few lbs. the next day. I'm sure it was from not drinking all my water while out and about.

Then for the 4th we went to MIL's and I brought over my own veggie tray that I made with a nice LC dipping sauce. I also made LC coleslaw to bring with as well. I knew that she always has meat - so I would be very safe eating the meat, coleslaw and veggies. That's exactly how it worked out and I was very pleased The only thing is, I again didn't get all my water in - so the scale is still up a few lbs. this morning. That's ok, I think it's totally from a bit of dehydration. I wake up and my mouth and eyes are dry -and I never have that happen.

So, overall I stayed on plan with my Lower carb eating and exercising, but not well with my water. So, today I will get back to my normal routine and should be back to normal weight tomorrow!

Melissa - So sorry to hear the scale is up for you. Could it be water retention? Did you eat a lot of salty foods lately or maybe not drink enough water? I know whenever this happens to me, the scale is always up. Now, I have to drink a lot of lemon water to flush out excess sodium from my system since my scale is up a few lbs

Rachel - Yes, your new Avi looks awesome! Your pictures of your callanetics results are great too! And yes, I bet you can't wait to get new furniture and be able to sleep on a bed again

Barb - Glad you enjoyed the 4th! Sounds like the lobster buffet was very low carb friendly.

Nitenurse - So sorry to hear about your Aunt. That's great though that you have so many wonderful memories of her. She sounded like quite a lady!!!

Sazzie - Yeah when there's a lot of people - it's amazing how long it can take to drive somewhere or even walk somewhere. I experienced this on July 3rd, - I was never so happy to get home in my life, lol.

bcdevay - hello and

Good morning all and thanks for your kind comments on my photos. Boy, I was surprised to see results that I hadn't processed (in my mind) that were happening.

Barb, the buffet sounds wonderful! I'm glad you had a good time.

Gracie, will you share pictures? I *LOVE* good male stylists. I haven't had one for a very long time.

Elaine, hang in there and keep working your plan.

Flower, wow, I would have fallen apart in that crowd! You know, sometimes, after I've spent a day in a hot crowded place and walked a ton, my weight will go up by 3-4 pounds. I am always because you'd think that all the activity and sweating (for me, ha ha) would make the scale go down. I am glad that you had a yummy meal...there's just nothing like bringing your own food, is there? Even with my home torn up, I am still eating at home and/or bringing my own food most of the time this summer, and I've started to prefer it (ok, on dates, I am eating at restaurants!)

Melissa, hey, I'm sorry to hear that your scale is up, but I can hear your determination to not let it beat you up. You've got it within yourself to win. Think about the behaviors that got your scale moving and default to them. We are all here to support you and to pick you right back up again. Hang in there. ((hugs))

Well, I am determined to get some stuff done today. I would like to get my kitchen reorganized and fridge and cabinets cleaned out. I also need to get some other stuff in order, like my budget for the rest of the summer and the fall. And I need to buy some things for Wednesday--that should be the "furniture assembly and picture hanging" day. So, I need to pick up some picture frames, towel racks, etc.

Have a wonderful Saturday!!

Rachel

Guess what? I just ordered 1400 pounds of furniture from IKEA (I know this because I am having it delivered and the delivery price is by weight.) OMG, it took 2 guys and six carts to wheel it all up front so I could pay for it. Carpet in on Tuesday, furniture delivered Wednesday. I am going to have them start in my room (putting it together) so that I can sleep in a REAL bed on Wednesday night!!

Lunch was a huge salad with a ton of veggies, I walked a ton at IKEA, all around the store and then all over the warehouse part with the two guys. I was pushing some heavy carts around, too.

Hope you are all having a good Saturday!!

Rachel Good to hear that you have found the furniture you wanted for your home. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. You are really going to enjoy your new bed Wednesday night

Gracie Happy to hear that everyone loved the cali-salad. Glad that your new hairstyle is just what you wanted. Hopefully you'll be able to get a nice picture of it soon.

Melissa My scale is up also - we need to work on the scale going in the right direction & not letting the little "blips" cause us to get off the right track Let's just keep on keeping on.

I have a lot of projects to work on in my condo but will check back in late to see how everyone is doing today. Have a great Sunday. Hugs, Barbara

Good morning all!

Wound up going to see a movie with Mark last night, and he's coming over this afternoon to help me move my things (so they can rip out my old carpet tomorrow) and clean out my kitchen and then we'll go out for dinner.

Barb, good luck with your projects. What are you working on today? I thought I saw a few weeds cropping up in the backyard, so I bought some Round-Up to take care of them right away. Turns out they were someone else's weeds. Hmmmm, wonder who could have thrown those over the fence? *sigh*

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!!

Don't worry. No matter what the scale says, I know I can't quit eating right. June 4th this became about something other than 'weight' or 'weight loss' and became about health and life and limb and avoiding a premature death.
The one thing I have changed is I've given up the Diet Hansen's for a while. I have no idea how they might have been effecting me, but I've been drinking a lot of them. We'll see how going back to water w/ lemon, iced tea, mineral water, etc does instead.
Thanks for your concern. Luckily, this is the last time and I won't be failing my new lifestyle.

Rachel and Barb, you're really going to have some awesome living space when you're done!

Melissa It sure sounds as though you've truly committed to this healthy lifestyle. Good for you!!

Early this morning, I got out and did some more weeding, but only for a half hour. I decided to go to the flea market in Daytona and was back in an hour and 15 minutes. Went in, got my stuff with no meandering.
Traffic was light going, but by the time I was headed back a little after 10, it was very heavy.

I'm going to put my Bose on and listen to some music while I do some odds and ends around the house.

Ciao~~

Hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th weekend. I am expecting my new HDTV to be delivered today. Am trying to find someone to help me move the very heavy old TV into my bedroom. Also need to do some surgery on the wall unit that will hold the new TV.
I also was expecting a computer person to create a wireless network for me but he's had a back injury & doesn't know when he'll be available to help me out. Today I'm going to attempt it myself & will not be able to post until I get everything moved & hooked up again. Wish me luck.

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you all had a fabulous weekend.

Lots of stuff going on at my place this week. Mark came over and helped me move all my stuff off the carpet and into the bathrooms/kitchen. They are coming over and taking out the old carpet tonight; new carpet on Tuesday; furniture delivered on Wednesday (and they'll start assembling it on Wednesday night.)

Barb, good luck with your internet connection.

See you all a bit later!
