Good morning, all.

Well, I had another great date with Mark last night. We went out for dinner and stayed out way too late. It was hard getting up this morning in time for the painters, and I'm still trying to wake up at work. My kitchen's in a bit of a disarray right now, so I stopped and got some strong coffee from Starbucks. I am probably too old to be out on a school night, but boy, was it fun.

Better get my day started here! Have a fabulous Wednesday all!

Rachel

Happy Birthday Barb!

Hope your birthday is as wonderful as you are Barb! And here- I made sure ya wouldn't give in to eating so much of that high carb cake! I pray the next year is your best ever, with continued success in whatever endeavor you choose to take on in your life! *hugs*

Well, thus ends the 3rd week of Stillmans- I have seen change- tho I wish it would be more- I think part of the problem is that I am not eating enough. We all know what the consequences of that can be. I am going to keep on with it- just because for right now- my food choices are limited-

I just looked at the time and am running late for an appt. and the drive is 30 miles- yikes! bbl!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBARA! You have been such an inspiration to me and others that you deserve only the most joyous blessings this year!

Have to tell that today I carried 30 lbs. of chicken necks from the car into the house (our dog is now a LCer, too, and that is a months worth of food) and was astounded by how heavy it was! I am so happy I am on this journey and losing that much and more!

Turned my ankle about two weeks ago, but kept my walking routine up. But then went to 2 friends 50th birthday party and found myself Cajun dancing on Saturday (great fun). However, it wreaked havoc on my ankle, so I have laid off the walking for a few days and started doing the 5 Tibetan exercises and can feeeeeel the workout on my stomach muscles! Will resume walking on Friday and keep up with the 5 Tibetans as well!

I have been saving a question for this new July thread... I was wondering if y'all would be willing to share what vitamins and supplements you take each day, how much of it and why. I know there is another thread for vitamins and supplements, but I trust y'all and feel like I know you better.

Here's my list that I take daily, at night before going to bed:
Vitamin C - 1000mg - overall wellness and skin
Adult Multi Vitamin (no Iron)
B-Complex + B-12
Vitamin K 100 mcg for skin
Chromium Picolinate - 400 mg for fat burning
Potassium - 99mg only if I get leg cramps during the night

Thanks in advance if you can do this! I am possibly having surgery later this Summer and want to go into it as health-filled as possible.

Peace to all!

Katy, the only supplement I take is B-12. I take two little tabs every AM. I haven't seen any increase in health or in the way I feel with any other supplement. My protein powder has added vitamins and eating lots of healthy whole foods is helping me hit the mark, nutritionally speaking.

Katy -
here is my list of vitamins & supplements that I take each day:

Multivitamin
Calcium 600 mg & Vitamin D 400 I.U.
Potassium 90 mg
Magnesium 133 mg & Zinc 5 mg (also has added calcium & Vit. D)
Hair, Skin & Nails

I also make sure to take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar everyday and a tablespoon or more of coconut oil each day as well.

I do take a lot of calcium and vit D. This is because I want to make sure to get in at least 1200 mg of calcium with the Vit. D combo. You need Vit D with your calcium so your body can absorb it. Calcium & Vit. D really help your immune system, bones and they help prevent cancer too. The potassium is to prevent leg cramps, the magnesium is something I've heard is good to take doing lower carb, zinc is excellent to prevent colds, hair skin and nails is something new I'm taking to make sure I keep my hair long and thick.

Katy

I take the full spectrum of vitamins and minerals, some of which are doctor prescribed and the others on my own.

B-100 morning
Ester C/ 500 morning & evening
E 400 iu morning
COQ10 morning
Folic Acid (doc prescribed) morning
D3 (doc prescribed) morning

Liquid Calcium/Magnesium 1200/750 evening
Liquid Carlson's Fish Oil/Omega 3's evening

Katy, if you're going into surgery this summer, you will want to bone up individually on your anti-oxidants.....A,C,E & selenium.
There are other supplements you can take also for quick healing such as bromelain and arnica for reduction of inflammation and pain.

Hello everyone!
Happy Wednesday night.

I am done with a round of Callanetics. I wasn't sure that I'd make it through the whole hour, so I told myself I could stop after the leg exercises. But the hip/behind exercises are my favorites, so I kept going. The stretches are easy enough, and although I hate all the talking during the pelvic work, why not toss that in? And I love the inner thigh stretch...and, oh there you go, another session done.

Eating is going well, even as my weight remains unchanged. Funny enough, I found a journal where I'd written down my weights a year ago. Last year, I was trending at EXACTLY the same weight I'm at now. Can you say "setpoint?" LOL Instead of trying to force a lower weight by going to an extreme, I am going to celebrate where I'm at, keep eating healthy, and keep working out. I don't have to be a miserable size 2 when I can be a healthy and happy non-obsessive size 4. My goal for the upcoming months is to NOT gain 20 pounds during January-April (which has happened twice in the last two years.)

Trim is almost done, doors are looking fantastic. But, I won't have new carpet until next week. Sooooooooooooooo, I will probably purchase my furniture this weekend and plan for a Thursday delivery. That's the plan for right now. I may spend a couple of nights at a friend's house because I am pretty tired of sleeping on the floor.

Does everyone have fun holiday plans? What will you do? What will you eat? I'm just happy to have a day off on Friday and will spend some time with Mark (unless his son's team wins their baseball game tonight, then they will be out of town for a tournament for most of the weekend.)

Here's to continued good health and happiness for all of us!

Rachel

Katy ~ These are the supplements I try to take daily:

Vitamin C (500 mg)
Vitamin B12 (500 mcg)
Adult Mutivitamin/Minerals
Biotin (5000 mcg)
Chromium Picolinate (200 mcg)
Garlic (1000 mg)
Green Tea (500 mg)
Cranberry (1680 mg)
Cayenne Fruit (1365 mg per 3 capsules)
Fish/Flax/Borage Oil (400 mg of each per softgel)

The main reason I take the cayenne is for my sinuses. I haven't had a sinus infection for the past three years since I have been taking them. I can say the same about my success with the cranberry, as I have had no bladder infections for three years since starting them. I use to have these infections in a bad way at least twice a year requiring antibiotics.

Yesterday they let us go home from work at 2:30, and we are off for plant shut-down all next week. Being off work today has shown me something very important: I eat out of boredom and habit.

Tomorrow my DH and DD and I are going to the Knoxville Zoo. I can't wait! I love seeing all the animals, but I do feel sorry for them in a way. So I have decided that tomorrow will be a good test for me and may get my IF schedule kick-started. I am taking plenty of fluids (mainly water) with me, and I am going to try not to eat until dinnertime. My DH will have snacks on hand for him and my daughter, so I'll have something just in case I need it. When I am distracted or busy, I don't seem to get as hungry.

Rachel, you mentioned a set-point, and I think I have reached mine. I am stuck at 191-192. If I try to diet, it is very difficult for me to lose now. However, I can have a horrible 2-3 day binge, and I still don't gain. That is bittersweet. A part of me says, "Go ahead and binge; at least you won't gain hardly anything." But there is another part of me that desperately wants to be thin and healthy.

We went to see the movie 'Hancock' tonight. I really liked it, but I love Will Smith in anything!

I'd better get rested up tonight for the zoo tomorrow! I am so out of shape; I hope I can get around the zoo without embarrassing myself by having to stop too many times to rest!

all! Thank you Rachel, Flower, Gracie and Carol Anne for sharing your successful combinations! They really give me a baseline idea for making sure I eat whole healthy foods and that I get the additional nutrients I may be lacking - especially in the event I have the surgery.

IF has given me the boundaries I need with this WOE, but more importantly it has given me a place and community to come to with concerns, celebrations, questions and challenges in this journey - and y'all are sweet and funny, too!

Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

Take on the challenge

Persistence is what makes the impossible possible, the possible likely,
and the likely definite."
- Robert Half

When the challenge first comes along, it looks to be overwhelming. And yet,
you know you must get past it, so you do what you can.

Day after day, you do what you can, when you can, as well as you know how.
And something amazing begins to happen. What you can begins to be more than
what you could. You learn, you experience, sometimes you succeed, sometimes
you fail, and most of all you grow.

You grow stronger each time you do what you can. At the beginning it doesn't
seem like enough, yet with persistence it becomes more. What once seemed
difficult, becomes easy. What once seemed awkward and uncomfortable,
becomes natural and even graceful.

Taking on a difficult challenge can bring about a great accomplishment, yet
it can bring so very much more. In challenge there is strength to be gained,
there are lessons to be learned, there is a kind of nourishment that cannot
be delivered in any other way.

If the challenge seems a bit too overwhelming, that's the one you want. Take
it on and let it pull you up. Do what you can do, again and again, and what
you can do will truly amaze you.

Ah, this jumped out at me, since last night I joined a Tai Chi class, and believe me, it was challenging. Thought it was going to be a lot easier, but am glad that it isn't. Love, and I mean, LOVE learning new things.

Melissa You have me blushing. I pray that I can be successful with getting the body fat down & can learn how to maintain without any backsliding.

Gracie Thanks so much for your kind comments. Your support & listening to me vent with my worries is very much appreciated.
