I will forward some prayers to Him so that your doc will say 'scope', it is! Yes, it is interesting about that iodine, isn't it. I have a lot more inquiries to make to my doctor about it, and am waiting for a phone call back for a script for testing. Losing your fat pad, eh?! Good news, indeed!! KUTGW!! Barbara, so glad to hear your toe is feeling better this morning; I know that was a bad 'ouch'! Are you able to put any type of shoe on this morning? |

Just a quick hello as I'm running a bit late this morning.
I have a big presentation this morning that involves my former boss and how we will be using her freelance services. It has the potential to be very awkward, so I'm trying to mentally gear up for it. Will check in later, have a good day everyone!! Rachel |

Why Having a Gol Isn't Nearly Enough
::Why Having a Goal Isn't Nearly Enough::
Twenty-three out of twenty-five people couldn't give me the answer I was looking for. Unfortunately, this means that twenty-three of the twenty-five people I met with will never experience the motivation necessary to get what they want. If you want to get motivated to change something in your life or achieve an important goal, you must know the answer that ninety-two percent failed to deliver. So much has been said about the importance of having goals that many people have been lured into the false notion that having a goal naturally leads to the motivation to achieve it. Even more, setting a specific goal with a timeline will all but guarantee success. As someone who has set goals in the past, I'm sure you know firsthand that merely having a goal isn't enough. While setting clearly defined goals is critical to living the life you want to live, lasting change requires something more than a specific goal. And this extra step was something that twenty-three out of the twenty-five people I spoke with didn't know. They had goals, some of them even specific and scheduled, but without answering the most important type of question, the motivation to achieve success will be short-lived. And if you don't have the motivation to follow through on your goals and dreams, you'll never succeed. That is why you must take that extra step, you must answer the most important questions. If setting a clearly defined goal isn't enough, what's the missing link? W-H-Y That's right, the missing link is why you want the goal. Without a strong and persuasive 'why' behind each one of your goals you'll never achieve it. As I sat down with those twenty-five individuals I asked them each about their personal and professional goals. Every one of them had an answer. Some took time to think about what they wanted while others already had a clear idea of what they hoped to achieve. After the goal was identified, I asked each the exact reasons why they wanted to achieve the goal, the compelling and powerful motivators. Only two out of the entire group offered satisfactory answers. I say 'satisfactory' because reasons such as being happier or making more money aren't strong enough. Reasons such as these will never overpower the habits and obstacles that stand in your way. If you don't know what you want, nothing else matters. I have worked with many people who only knew that they wanted something different in their lives, but it stopped there. Uncover Your Quality Reasons: Here's the real kicker about my meeting with those twenty- five men and women - each and every one of them had the answers they needed inside of them. The problem isn't that you don't have the type of motivators you need to succeed, it's that you haven't brought them to the surface. That's about to change. Take one of your goals in mind and answer the following questions with as much detail and emotion as possible. Remember, the more powerful your reasons for wanting to achieve the goal, the more you'll be motivated to take action and get what you want. 1. What will achieving your goal do for you physically? Mentally? Emotionally? Financially? Spiritually? 2. What will you think of yourself years from now if you achieve your goal? 3. What will failing to achieve your goal cost you physically? Mentally? Emotionally? Financially? Spiritually? 4. How will failing to achieve your goal negatively affect your friends and family? What will it cost them in the long run? 5. What will you think of yourself years from now if you never achieve your goal? This short list of questions should be enough to get you started on the right path. All of your goals require this type of questioning. Without it, you'll quickly let habit and routine run the show and fall far short of what is possible in your life. When you answer this line of questioning with your goals you'll finally enjoy the limitless motivation you need to change your life for the better. Every time you encounter an obstacle and you feel like you can't go on, revisit your reasons and you'll have the leverage you need to proceed. We all deal with moments of indecision and weakness. We know we should do one thing but we have an urge to do another. While the majority of people will give in to their temptations and regret it later, you will have the secret to staying the course day in and day out. The two individuals who had powerful motivators behind their goals (one man, one woman) have already made progress toward their goals. They are thrilled about the changes and find it rather easy to get motivated about what they want. As for the remaining twenty-three, I can't say the same. Answer the questions above as well as others you think of during the process and you'll not only get motivated to reach your goals, you'll stay motivated until you create the life you have always wanted to live. Rachel, I know you will do well with your presentation. You have it in ya, gf!
Missalissa, thanks for starting the August thread! Will start posting there on Friday. And, another thanks to you Missalissa, for that great motivating questionnaire! I was so impressed with it, I copied it to Word and answered each one! I found it very empowering, and a bit of an eye-opener, especially how one would react years later if a particular goal was not met.....not just with fat release, but goals in general. I would like to think I would be one of the two who set goals, had a concrete reason for establishing them, then planned them through with concessions for flexibility in case of changes. Yeppers, that was a good one!! ![]()

But like you, I sometimes have a hard time finding out just exactly what to do, what will really work for me--the details get kind of hard to pin down sometimes. But notice how many of our friends here have tweaked until they find what works for them. Combining LC with IF seems to make pretty good sense but I think we each have to find our own rhythm so dont get discouraged and give up on yourself . Just keep on coming here and joining in and keep on trying. And one day, you will look at yourself like Professor Higgins did Eliza Doolittle "By Jove, she's got it, I really think she's got it!" ![]() Missalissa's questionnaire! Wowweee--talk about ending the month on a high note! And as well, something for us to search our hearts about and AIM HIGH FOR!. And what really riveted me is to stop and count THE COST of failing! There's an old cliche that goes something like "in five years: OK, so you dont stick with an eating plan, weight loss plan, signing up for some college courses, trying for a promotion, getting all your closets clean, etc. In fact, you dont even really try hard to do anything and give up when the going gets tough. So, the time will pass and you will be five years older no matter what you do--you cant stop time--but wouldnt it be rewarding at the end of it to look back and see that you met just one important goal, stuck to something, tried something new, made yourself a better person in some important way that makes you like yourself more. That is what came to my mind as I read MissA's questionnaire. We have to aim and then get totally stubborn about not giving up. A wise woman from another site always says, "you are not a loser until you give up and stop trying." YES! We cant give up! Wolf The hernia thing must be awfully worrisome , but also how great to hear that you are noticing it because your fat pads are melting. Sending up a little prayer that no zipper is going to have to be installed in your hide over it. Barbara just another reason to count your blessings that you live in The Sunshine State--with your sore toe you can do flip-flops or any minimal foot cover--after all it is the style there! ![]() And Rachel, we are waiting to hear how it went with the former boss. Seems like a very tricky situation, but you have been on a roll lately at work, so I am betting it went fine. Sazzie--the iodine test sounds fascinating and I'd love to try it but the stuff does bad things to me (hives, short of breath) so I guess I will have to pass it up. Hey, August is coming-- a new month, a new start. Day after tomorrow we will meet in the brand new thread Missalissa has prepared for us. I can hardly wait to get there--I have peeped over the fence and into the calendar at it. Wow--it is a bright and sunny place with tables for us to sit at while we eat yummy low-carb treats and visit. And there is a lovely seabreeze blowing through the palm trees while some studly beach boys play guitars and serenade us. After our meal (drinks served with tiny umbrellas) we can stroll over to the lounges under the palm trees and watch the sailboats on the bay. And plan what we will have for supper under the stars. Sounds like a fabulous place to spend the next month together (Oh boy, dont I lead a rich fantasy life for a girl who hangs out in a little mountain town for most of her life these days.) |

Hi everyone! I worked late, so I'm just home from work. Then I needed to stop and get garbage bags and cat food on the way home (I know, she leads a glamourous life!) I got so hungry that I had to stop and eat something. It was not on plan. But, an occasional off plan meal is not going to ultimately hurt me.
The presentation. Well, I was in a bad mood this morning thinking about it. I usually love to present, but today, I knew it could be awkward. There was a senior vice president and a vice president in the meeting, along with several directors. My art director was right there by my side the whole time (we are a great team.) Presentation went well, even though my mouth felt so dry that I could barely talk. And, the former boss even said at the end, "I am Rachel's employee now, and all of my assignments will come through her." It's been difficult the last few weeks as she has always been MY boss and no one had clearly redefined her new freelance role in our organization. Everything should go pretty smoothly now, I hope. I hate hard feelings, and this former boss was also a former mentor to me. (I was sitting here and thinking about how THIS part of things, defining processes and presenting them company wide, is not something that I ever would have expected in a job as a managing editor.) Okay, I am wiped out from the day and from my free meal. I'm going to relax for a bit and then start putting my thoughts together on the August thread. Thank you for all being here. I appreciate all of you!Rachel |

hey there IS ONE MORE DAY LEFT in July Rach! LoL!
Barb- I CAN definitely relate to the hurt toe incident- has not been so long since mine. It is still hurt- the nail is black, and hurts to bend. I have to be careful what shoes I wear. I am feeling good about my accomplishments with this w/o/e. I am not "really" on a plan per se, but yet I am. I just am "EATING HEALTHIER"- for me this is the key. I am NOT emotionally eating- rather finding other outlets for that- to me- a major hurdle crossed. NOT TO SAY I DON'T still want to eat- I just do not. I think my main thing is becoming more accepting of myself, and realizing I ain't so bad of a person. I have been through a lot- in fact on the 19th of this next month, would be my son's 28th bday- I am never going to stop missing him- just dealing with it better than I did. I know he is going to be forever in my heart. I am trying to spend as much time with DD as possible. The ex found a new home across town, which is NOT THAT far- but certainly not 3 doors down either. I am going to have to find a way to deal with her being farther away when that comes. Meanwhile I am working on getting back residential custody. We do have joint custody. It is just sad that $$ was the factor in her being with him instead of me- i could not fight him- can't talk about it anymore right now either- making me sad. ANYHOW, I had a busy day- will share more tomorrow. I meet with the surgeon on Monday- thanks for the prayers. I am praying for a scope surgery and if not, scoop up that extra loose belly skin LoL! hugs to all.

Good Morning, IFers!!
Missalissa, thank you! I'm holding off posting my story on the new thread till tomorrow. My appointment went well yesterday, and my neurologist told me to keep on keeping on with low carb. B/P was 113/65; I usually run 90/60, but I guess I was a little excited. ![]() It's very comforting to have two of my doctors support me in low carb, and they know that it has been beneficial to my overall good health. I'll be back a bit later to see how your're all doing! |

Just checking in, will weigh tomorrow to start August, thanks for starting the new thread. I know that LC is the only way for me to eat, and I can maintain well on that, lose slowly. I also seem to be finding that the IF added to that makes it much easier to really lose weight.
I have been dealing with some new insight into the fact that I probably have had an intestinal yeast overgrowth from antibiotics, again, and that LC is the way to stop feeding the little critters. With this in mind, makes fine tuning the food intake interesting. Got some new and improved acidophilus that really seems to help. I check on this site everyday that I am home, sometimes I really don't have anything to say, but I enjoy the company, and the inspiration. Elaine |

Thanks for your warm welcome and advice, everyone! Missalissa, I loved the goals article. The last few days I used a 9-hour feeding window (instead of 12), and that felt easy. So today I tried |
