Good morning!
I am unfortunately up early again this AM. This is after taking just one of those pills in the AM yesterday. I didn't feel like eating at all yesterday but I did have some rice, some carrots/broccoli slaw, some raspberries, and some pumpkin. I'm retaining water in my knees again, but I am down a few ounces (not a big deal as I'm not worried about losing any more on the scale right now.) I'll probably just take 1/2 of those pills today and see how I feel. I went and got groceries yesterday...lots of stuff for salads, fruits, and beans. I will do one of the Callanetic workouts today, either legs or hips, depending on how my knees feel as I progress throughout the day. Barb, I have read about those whipped cream dispensers. Sounds really cool! Let us know what you think about your chocolate whipped cream. |

I didn't try the chocolate whipped cream in the new dispenser once I read the directions but did try it in my magic blender. It was like a mousse. I did try the dispenser for plain whipped cream & it works great. The only downside is that you need a new cartridge for every batch that is made. One batch should last quite awhile since I don't have whipped cream very often. I watched an infomercial this A.M. for Chic shaper. This razor back garment is worn with any bra you happen to be wearing. It helps with posture & lifting up the "girls". I saw good reviews on the auction site where I purchased it at a reduced rate. Am looking forward to seeing how this improves my upper body appearance.

Hi Barb, it's weird, but I think the water retention in my knees happens only when my calories are very low. This happened when I was on my very low carb/very low cal diet at the end of May/beginning of June. I think when I don't get enough calories, my body decides to hang onto every ounce of water that it can.
I am keeping a journal of symptoms to show tomorrow (from the supplement) that include dry mouth, sleeplessness, high energy level (too bad I just can't keep that one), no appetite and feeling full right after I take a few bites. The whipped cream sounds yummy, as does the mousse! |

Barb that whipped cream dispenser is right up my alley! i eat lots of sugar free cool whip with stuff- my treat!
Rach I do think it is about doing what is "right" for ones self- the occasional dalliances are not throwing me off of track, and I do believe help me to stay on it. I ave stopped "beating myself up" over the occasional foray "off of plan" and found it to work wonders. (for me anyhow) I have my dd tonight, so not on here long- just popping in to say hello, and hope all is well with all. *hugs*

![]() Wolf Glad to hear that allowing yourself a little leeway is working so well for you. KUTGW Rachel Hope you could get enough sleep last night. Will be interesting to see what the folks at work have to say about the side-effects you are experiencing. Has the swelling in your knees gone down? My scale is definitely not cooperating. Maybe the Tyson Lime Chicken with Parm Ranch dressing is causing me to hold on to the lbs. I'll also cool it with the whipped cream today. I didn't have any of my favorite chocolate yesterday & was hoping to see the scale moving in the right direction. I'll see what happens this week as I give up all the treats. Good morning!
Wolf, I bet you had a great time with your DD last night. ((hugs)) Went to see Mamma Mia yesterday afternoon and cried when the mom is helping the daughter get ready for her wedding. Time goes so fast with our little girls! Barb, I hope your scale decides to behave today! Had the same thing happen again, woke up super early. I haven't had a racing heartbeat, so that's good. I'm pretty interested in finding out whether or not there's a secret ingredient in this stuff, too. My knees are a little bit better this morning and the scale is down but for all the wrong reasons of not eating hardly at all. Have a good day, all! Let's get this week off to a great start! Rachel |

Good Monday morning, IFers!
Not enough time for personals this morning. We're power washing our driveway and lanai, and right now, I'm taking a break, then I have an appointment this afternoon, so I'll try and get back later. |

![]() I'm a little shaken as I fell off a step stool trying to get a piece of the Paper Illusion up close to the ceiling. My big toe is throbbing & my knee is scraped. I tore down the shower curtin rod along with a towel rod but luckily didn't do too much damage to myself or the bathroom, LOL! I'll have to get a tall man to help me out with the spots that are too tricky for me to safely install. My scale is not behaving itself. Guess it doesn't like the higher levels of fats that I have been eating. Hope to do just meat and eggs today in order to get things moving in the right direction again. Hope I'm not the only one posting today. Yesterday only Rachel, Gracie, Missalissa, Wolf & myself posted. If the lack of interest in this thread continues, I'm not going to start a new thread for August. I'll leave it up to someone else to start the thread if they desire to do so. At one point we had 22 or more folks posting. Now we're just down to a handfull, what a pity. Last edited by Ragdoll24 : 07-29-2008 at 06:32 AM. |

O my, Barbara, you got on that ladder again?!?! I guess so, since you took a spill! Yes, do wait until you can get someone to help you with that.....remember, it will get done, slowly, but surely.
Hope you're OK, and not too bruised! I agree that the thread has slowed down quite a bit. Could be the fact that everyone is busy with summer activities, or just have lost interest in the IF way of eating. I'm finding that my IF window is not as narrowed as it once was, but I still come here to post, although lately, not as much because of lack of dialog. I hope that folks will continue to post even if they're not doing IF to the letter, because there was/is a camaraderie here that was/is evident. The thread may be entitled IF, but we have always welcomed varying WOEs and still do.......I believe our main intent is to support one another, no matter which WOE is followed. Could be that some of us have gone off plan, eaten too much, or just lost motivation for varying reasons. If that is the case, please come here for support, cause that's what we're about.

Oh Barb. I bet that was scary. I'm so glad that you're okay. I sometimes get myself in those spots when i get super-determined to do something on my own. ((hugs))
Message board threads have an ebb and a flow about them. There are always going to be times when threads are busier and slower. I've been posting in this thread for about 14 months now...and although there are times when I've taken breaks, I'm not going to give it up. I think it might be fun, maybe in the new August thread, to say how long we've been doing IF (or have incorporated parts of it) and how much weight we have lost and/or maintained. Might be fun to have some pictures as well. Kind of get excited about showing just what IF can do. It's kind of routine for most of us here, but we could show people where it's gotten us and why we've decided to stay with it. Okay, I must get ready for work. Bye for now! Rachel |

Well, last night was our first night of VBS. We had 31 kids show up. It was great, considering we only have 2 elementary aged kids in our church. Praying for more kiddos tonight!
Our theme is Beach Party, Surfin' through the Scriptures. It's a cute program and everyone is having a good time. We have a flamingo puppet named Flame (who DD is the voice of) and I serve as the lifeguard on our spot on the beach. Man, I love VBS. I get to be goofy and noone makes fun of ya! We have done the twist, the monkey, and learned to surf on the turf!!Short work day for me again today. Trying to cram it all in before I leave to get ready for VBS. I am the director of our community food bank. I got a call from a gentleman from a small town like ours about 85 miles away. He was asking information about starting a food bank. After a 20 minute conversation, he told me that he thought whoever put me in charge knew what they were doing. He asked if I would come to his church sometime in the near future and give a presentation of our operations and do a question/answer type meeting with his church elders to help them get started. I felt very honored. ![]() Have a very blessed IF day everyone! |

Well, speaking of support, I could use some today!
![]() I am pretty consistent with staying on plan, but this weekend I simply ate too much and didn't drink enough water, and I feel it. More than the scale, I can tell by my mood if I've not eaten balanced meals. I didn't have enough protein, so was feeling that craving for something munchy. I even skipped my supplements yesterday.....highly unusual! I do go off plan strategically every once in a while, and each time I have, it's worked out, but this weekend was anything but strategic. I've been low carbing on and off for enough years to know what to do to right away, so today, a lot more water than my usual 64 oz. to get rid of a lot of sodium I ingested yesterday. Rachel, your ideas are good ones. Every now and then, I photograph well, but not as a rule, but I'll give it a whirl...... |

![]() Gracie I'm with you on needing all the support I can get. Thanks for all the support that you give me both here & via phone, it's greatly appreciated. We'll just pick ourselves up by our bootstraps & keep on keepin on. What's over is over, it's today that counts. Let's make it a great LC/IF day that we can be proud of without any regrets for past unplanned variances. We can do this ![]() I am coming up to my one year anniversay of officially joining LCF on 8/14/2007. I'm so happy I made the committment to post here on IF. I know I owe much of my success to the great folks on this thread. Ya know, we are a great bunch of gals, aren't we?!
![]() Well, I'm feeling like a postin fool this morning! ![]() OT, but I received the samples of paper illusions, and they are absolutely beautiful. I've already ordered, and we're priming today, so am excited to see the end results, and finally get rid of the sterile white walls. On another topic, my herbalist loaned me a book entitled 'Iodine, Why You Need It', Why You Can't Live Without It', by David Brownstein, MD. In reading this book, I was amazed at the low level of iodine in so many people, and why people with thyroid problems have so much resistance to releasing fat. My herbalist applied some iodine on my arm to see how long it would take before it disappeared. How fast it disappears is the level at which the iodine is deficient. Mine was gone in 4 hours, which indicates a very low level. I am so psyched about this, because my daughter suffers from PCOS and Hashimoto's and has struggled for the past 15 years with her weight. Her iodine patch was gone in 3 hours!! I know this is not the end all, be all for her, but it's a start, especially since she's firing her endo, and is making plans to see my homeopath. My thyroid is just a bit tired, and needs a lil kick in the arse, so maybe this will complement the Armour I'm taking........hey, I'm exploring all options to find out why in blazes it's taking me so long````almost 2 years```` to release this fat when, for 99% of the time, I'm following low carb. So, just out of curiosity, if you have a bottle of iodine around, apply it to the inner upper arm, and see how long it takes to disappear. I'd be curious to see your results, so post, if you're interested! |

I don't have much time as the appointment i thought was at 3, is at 2, and it is half hour drive. It is ok though, I will be early. I was kind of bummed yesterday- found out this weird appendage thingy all of a sudden making its appearance in my stomach is an incisional hernia, coming out of the muscle wall from where I was cut for my csection with DD. ANYHOW I did not want to do anything about it- but sounds like I have to. I am waiting for a call from the surgeon to set up a consultation. HOPING AND PRAYING that he can do it all from a scope and not have to be cut open.
Wow sazzie that is interesting about the iodine. I have been telling my doc my thyroid is not right, but he insists it is. I dunno. I am getting where I am thinking of looking for a new doc. ANYHOW gals- I got to get dressed for my appointment. It is with my therapist, been going to her for over 4 yrs. and it has really been helping out during this whole divorce thing. Oh yeah- 2 more pounds and am tied with my lowest weight in who knows how many yrs. YAY! AND the ARNP who looked at me- when I asked about why I could feel the incisional hernia so well- she says you are losing your fat pad under your stomach is why! WOO HOOOO now that was some excellent news through all of the yukky news. *smile* I'll be back later- |

![]() I thought I should introduce myself. I've been reading about IF for a while, and only recently found your thread. I hope there is enough interest to continue an IF thread in the future. I went sugar-free on July 4th, and started LC July 11th. Prior to that, I began in January to try to clean up my eating a bit and lose some weight. When I had lost 35 pounds, I happened to measure my waist and found I had GAINED 5 inches over the last 3 years, despite having lost 35 pounds. This was really bad, healthwise, and I started researching what eating plan would be best to lose bellyfat, the nasty stuff wrapped around your organs. Low-carb and IF came up as the best choices, because of their high fat-loss to total weight loss ratio. So I started LC with Atkins. (I just did '72 because it seemed the least complicated.)I read a bunch of articles on intermittent fasting. Then I read Fast-5 and it really made a lot of sense to me. It was simple, easy to remember, no complicated rotation schedules or diet composition formulas. But, when I looked at my current fasting window vs. eating window each day, I realized both were about 12 hours. *Really* far from 19 to 5 ratio recommended in the book. When I was very young and had to kind of keep my weight in line for my job, I used to fast on Mondays (my day off then). It did the job, and it gave me a great sense of self-connection and self-control. I'd love to recapture the sense of peace and confidence fasting gave me as a young woman. I do think, given the huge distance between my current weight and a healthy weight, that I will be sticking with Atkins as my WOE for quite a long time to get me there. But I would love to explore bringing IF into my life as part of my lifestyle (more than my weight loss mechanism). With the control Atkins has given me over cravings, I feel it may finally be possible to do that. Did anyone else start out a long way from the fasting pattern they wanted to adopt? How did you start? Or do you have previous threads that focused on beginning IF? I'm very interested in finding out more about your own IF practices.
