Broke the fast
July 23 was my sister's birthday, and I told her I was fasting but would still dine out with her and our kids. Well, I decided early afternoon forget that! So, I broke the fast this evening and enjoyed Mexican food to celebrate. Yummy! My sis and I stayed and gambled a little together while our boys went to a movie. The theater was giving away a free small popcorn, so the boys decided to get the popcorn on the way out to share with us. Movie popcorn is one of my favorite things and my son knows it! So, about 2 1/2 hours after the Mexican food I also had some popcorn.
![]() I was thinking on my drive home... hey, that was a 4 hour window! I know I will be fasting tomorrow, but I am not sure how long. I may try this 5 hour window, or I may just go back to water. ![]() Good night. ![]()

![]() Laura Glad to hear that you enjoyed the Mexican food for your sister's birthday celebration. A four hour window was great ![]() I'm progressing on the bathroom work. Finished most of the priming of the walls & have put up a few pieces of the paper illusion. Will be back to working on it today. So far the looks of it are very nice. Where is everyone? Hope we get more action on the thread today. Will check back in later to see how everyone is doing. |

Good Thursday morning!!
Laura Movie popcorn used to be one of my favorite things to eat, and we always had some in the house to munch on. Seems a bit odd that these days I don't miss it or crave it anymore, but if it were in front of me, it may be different. Barbara Your bathroom is going to look lovely! As you know, I'm prepping here also, but still not sure of the color, so will be ordering the sample packets to make sure. My visit with my homeopath went very well yesterday. I tell ya, I just love that man, with his caring and so friendly attitude. He is thorough, and when I asked him if I needed a full panel of blood work again, he told me that my chol. levels have been so good these past few months, and my low carb eating has remained the same, so we'll skip it for this visit. He never orders anything that isn't necessary. But, he wants my complete thyroid panel (TSH, FT3, FT4) done including D3, which also is a hormone. I also asked if I was taking too much D with CLO and D supplements, and he said as long as I don't exceed the 'A' by 10,000 IUs , then it's fine. Oh, and he supports me wholeheartedly with Intermittent Fasting. Can you tell I'm so excited to have found this guy in the midst of a state that doesn't have too many docs who prescribe Armour!!! Keeping up with NonStickPam, I have learned a lot, and Dr. Steve is right up there with the best of them. I am blessed!! So, anyway, that's my little, or not so little, synopsis of my visit with Dr. Steve. ![]()

On the main lobby Blood Sugar 101 posted a very insightful message on "Maintainers: How do you do it"
She answered all the questions she posed to everyone in her first post. Her last point was the question: What tips would you give people currently in the weight loss phase of their diet that might help them achieve successful maintenance? Answer: Realize that the diet you are eating now is very close to the diet you will have to keep eating when you reach goal or the end of your weight loss--which may well be higher than your goal. If you don't enjoy eating this way, and if you are battling yourself to keep on the diet, you wil have a very tough time maintaining. Better to lose more slowly eating in a way that you enjoy than to live with the underlying idea, "When I get to goal I'll be able to eat [whatever it is]." If you need to eat whatever it is, figure out how to integrate it into your current diet so that you don't end up binging your way back to your starting weight. Learn to go off plan and get back on. The more you are able to go on and off without problems, the more likelihood you will be able to pursue the mini-corrections that you will need to do to maintain that weight loss. Get used to gaining and losing water weight at different carb intake levels. Don't make your diet a moral issue. You aren't "good" or "bad" because of what you eat. Save those words for how you treat other people and think of what you eat as "useful" or "not useful" for attaining your goals. I truly believe the above is some of the best advice I have ever read anywhere

Good Thursday morning peeps! Hope all is well in the land of IF.
Crazy, crazy, crazy around here. Trying to finish up everything as our VBS starts Monday night. Not enough of me to go around with everything I have going on. I'm meeting my sister tonight. DD is going to her house for a couple of days and then my BIL will bring her home on Sunday along with my 2 nieces and nephew to stay with us next week. Keep on keeping on everyone! Have a great IF day! |

Anyone ever hear of the Miracle fruit?
"At 'flavor tripping' parties, guests eat a berry known as miracle fruit that temporarily rewires taste buds, turning sour flavors sweet."
Sounds like this berry which you just suck on for a few minutes might help with sweet cravings. There is media coverage & video & info of this Miracle fruit at: MiracleFruitMan - Curtis Mozie |

Hi all.
Just a quick check in. I'm finally starting to feel a little bit better about the wreck. I'm maintaining my lowest weight from the end of my very low calorie, very low carb diet that I ended at the beginning of June. It's nice that it hasn't gone up at all and that I'm eating the vegetarian foods that I enjoy the most. Dating stuff is weird right now--Mark kind of pulled back, so I did too. So I went and had coffee with someone else last night. And Mark called during the middle of my date, LOL. It's a state holiday in Utah today, but my company is open, anyway. So, I'm here and working hard. Welcome to our newest members! And thanks everyone for your kind and caring thoughts!Rachel |

![]() on maintaining - that's a wonderful accomplishment. It's good that your not putting "all your eggs in one basket with Mark" BarbaraP.S. The drama with having an inspector requiring a licensed plumbing contractor to pull a permit for my new hot water heater continues. The licensed plumbers are trying to charge me $300.00 just to pull the permit. I refuse to let them rip me off. Still looking for an honest contractor to pull a very simple permit since the work is already completed. |

Hi everyone-just passing by-actually procrastinating on some work I need to be doing lol.
Back on lowcarb well, my IF turns out to be more like 6 hours instead of 5, but love this way of eating-food without guilt lol. Interested in all your posts, that wallpaper is intriguing, could solve some of my decorating problems. Elaine |

Barbara and Gracie, have you tried the Paper Illusions on your floors? I was reading about how you can apply it on tile. My tile's looking not so great compared to my new carpet, but I can't afford the money to put in new tile right now. I was reading about how people are using it on their floors, though. What do you think? Does that seem plausible to you after working with the paper?

Barb, my floor isn't real tile--it's flat linoleum (like the kind you'd buy in big sheet and then cut to size.) I am really curious about it!
They showed a couple of floors that had been redone in this way, and I liked how they looked. |

Rachel It should work pretty good over the linoleum. Make sure you follow-up the paper illusion with a few light coats of outdoor poly satin finish. There's a forum on paper illusion where someone mentioned making a "mistake" & using the wrong kind of poly finish & it worked great for countertops & tables because it eliminated water stains from damaging the paper illusion.

OH, Barbara, Barbara, Barbara...you look like an innocent little Cotton Candy Angel
, but looks are certainly deceiving--my goodness, I have only just met you and already you are having a "devilish" influence on me. .The cause of course, is Paper Illusion. I went to the links you sent me, and OH MY! After two hours, my DH came in and said, "what are you doing all this time?" Of course, I was hypnotized by the endless possibilities of Paper Illusion. Never saw anything that got my imagination running wild so quickly before; of course, I began dreaming of all the places I could put it and all the things I could do with it. Tsk, tsk, such a temptation to forget the dishes in the sink and just sit and look at what can be done with that stuff. Er--back to IF--I increased my window today, and probably my waistline along with it, but it was all LC stuff, just not very "induction friendly" Ah, well, tomorrow is another day. Sally |

![]() Sally LOL, sorry if I've made an addict out of you with the Paper Illusions. On the paperitfun forum a member said that it is an addiction for her. We all have times when our eating window is not perfect but that's just life. I allow myself to be human & not perfect every once in awhile. Just go with the flow. Dr. Bert Herring says to ease into IF not to try to do it all in a day or two but allow at least 2 weeks or more to get into the swing of things. How is everyone else doing with their individual plans? I've been battling my emotions & desire to feed them. I'm being kind to myself & still keeping a watchful eye on not going too overboard with the "treats" Have a great Friday everyone. Good morning, all.
Barb, I'm doing well on my plan. I went off for the first time yesterday--we had a BBQ at work, and I went to be social. I had a plate of junk food that I didn't even really enjoy, and I even tried drinking some Diet Pepsi but I no longer have a taste for it. I came home and got right back on my plan last night. I now prefer eating healthy over eating a plate of junk food. That's a big step for me from last summer when I was trying to get away with eating as much junk food as I could while still maintaining my weight. I wanted to mention that the company (nutritional supplement company) I work for has also asked me to test out a weight loss supplement. I will take one every day for two weeks. It's got the same type of fiber (konjac) as is found in shiritaki noodles. I thought that was interesting. Hope you all have a happy Friday! Rachel |

Good morning, Barbara, Rachel and Missalissa!!
Yesterday found me in a funky mood, and it seemed that everything was going wrong, but I did say today would be better, and it is! Barbara, with all that you've been through these past 6 weeks, I should think that something would give, so continue to be kind to yourself. Emotions can play dirty tricks on us, so keep the faith that this too shall pass. My eating plan is going quite well, although slowly, but I've always said that's OK, but yesterday didn't quite think that way, but am down another .2 lb this morning, so I must be doing something right. I've been increasing my calories quite a bit to 1800-2000, and ever since I've started this, the weight is decreasing. I've also increased my carbs quite a bit to anywhere from 60-100 per day. I feel that this will work on an ongoing basis, and I do feel that alternating the amount will work. I'll just keep an eye on it, and make adjustments where necessary. Ordered my sampler book of paper illusions, and have the primer all ready to go. I just may get the walls ready before I order so that by the time it gets here, I can start in on it. Going to get some more garden work done that I started earlier this morning, so I'll be back later to see how you're all doing! Ciao~~ |

Before I forget I had to run back in here and tell y'all something. In one of my fitness magazines there was a quick blurb at the bottom of one page.
It said.......Want a fast and sure way to tone up chest, shoulders, and arms? Try WALL PUSH UPS!!!!! They are quick, easy, and very effective! I kid you not!! ![]() |

Greetings IF Friends! Wow! Now I have Paper Illusions on my to-google list! Just wanted to give you an update on my temporary switch to CAD. It took a few days to get used to introducing carbs again - they triggered me so badly! But by last Sunday I was able to do a day of fasting with one Reward Meal. (Barbara, I went and read ALL of Cindy's posts for the past two months on the CAD thread and that was VERY helpful). Since then I have been pretty strict and only eating Nocarb if I feel I must eat in the hours before the RM. My weight has stabilized at a 1.5 pound gain, AND I'll take it for this process (thanks again Missallissa for warning me!) Most importantly my blood work has come back from the latest testing and they are happy with the 'balance'. Thursday (7/31) I will be doing a day-long series of tests including CAT scan, EKG/stress tests, MORE blood work etc. so I need to get walking again to ace that stress test! I must admit that I have not kept up with the wall-ups challenge......YET! ![]() Have a GREAT WEEKEND eve |
