Hope everyone's doing good!!

Just updating. I don't think we'll get a computer until after we get back from vacation. We leave next Wednesday for about a week and a half. I'll be taking a diet break during that time and not refeed this weekend. Just a free meal tomorrow and a free meal Saturday or Sunday.

I'm in vacation mode so don't know how much actual work I'm going to get done today. So far, I've only printed my boarding pass and made a list of things to pack for tomorrow.

I'll be able to check in while I'm gone, but no weigh-ins.

Where is everyone????

Manaloa - Where are you going on vacation?

Have a great day, all.

Good morning! It has been very quiet around here! I had a great psmf day yesterday. I did my depletion workout with no problems. I plan to do 3 more workouts spaced 3 days between them during this cycle. I really like how the psmf makes me more conscious of what I put in my mouth. I also love how the bloating goes away. I wonder if that is due to lack of carbs or just lack of overeating??

Day 1 - 137
Day 2 - 135

Nill - Yeah, those forums can be very brash over there. There's some good info, but I don't like their general lack of common courtesy!

Linda - It sounds like alot of people are in vacation mode around here. I am getting there. I only have 6 more days of work and then I move. I will be off of work for a while, so it will be an extended vacation! Where are you traveling to?

Manaloa - Where are you going on vacation?

Hi, Tori

I'm flying to Texas (Dallas area) to spend a few days at my DD's house. That's pretty much the only place I spend my vacation time. Being so far away from my granddaughter (and now another one due in a couple of months) just kills me, but there's no way I can move down there right now. I most likely will retire there in a few years, so for now, I go there about 4 times a year.

We're going to be driving down to Colorado. We'll stop in the Denver area and then drive down to Colorado Springs/Canon City area to do some white water rafting (not that I expect there to be a lot of white water left at that point) and then back through Kansas to visit my brother & his family in KS city, then back home to Omaha.

a bit wordy...i've been in withdrawals!

Hello ladies!!
Egads it has been soooo busy at work. I've been mandated to work OT the rest of this week, and this weekend (due to their lack of planning and efficiency of course...ugh). Anyhoos..I made the chicken stew in the crockpot too...just yesterday. how weird is that?? I found some chili lime hot sauce and doused it with that too...i love hot food. Doing really well, and not feeling so 'deflated' now...so that is good. Not drinking enough water at work though, since they have me so busy. I need to remember to do that...it really helps me out.

I've decided to start experimenting with recipes that are at the very least higher in proteins, lower in fats...etc. Have any of you tried using the unflavored protein powders? If so, what did you think? I may stop and get some on my way home one night this week.

One thing i found on the net and tried last night was a rootbeer float protein shake. I used 1 scoop of my jay robb vanilla PP, a can of diet a&w root beer, and ice cubes. I stirred it because i was deathly afraid to spin it in my magic bullet! I added 2 TBS of FF half and half, but would omit that next time...i didnt think it needed it. It was TASTY! its not that often i make yummy sounds while having a protein shake!

Tonight I'm going to try a dreamsicle shake! Recipe is pretty much the same, but use diet Sunkist pop.

I also made my own Protein Pudding. I did 1 scoop PP, 1 C FF cottage cheese, 1 C water, and 1 pkg SF, FF pistachia pudding. blend it together (it was a magic bullet nightmare...i'll use my stick blender or regular blender next time) and divide it up into those little glad 1/2 c. plastic containers. I have not figured out the macros on it yet...I'm going to make it again with just the water and PP next time...see how that is, maybe using twice the amount of PP. I bought some of the protein pudding from netrition, but it was expensive, and the taste was only OK. I liked mine much better.

I also made a ranch dip with ff cottage cheese, ff ricotta, splash of ff half and half, some water and a pkg of ranch dressing mix. That i would like to also slim down a bit and add the unflavored protein powder to. it was very good with my celery today.

so, my scale topped out at 223.4 after my whole refeed..ugh. but, I'm dropping quick so I wont worry too terribly.

Gib, hope you have a great time with your DGD! I know they grow up so fast...my 'baby' is a JR in HS this year...ack. The great college prep/search has begun.

Current numbers:
Round 1 PSMF Start 237 - Finish 217.2
Round 2 PSMF
7/22: 223.4
7/23: 220.8

Have a great low-fat night everyone!

Good Evening Everyone,
My brother-in-law went into the hospital for an allergic reaction to a wasp sting and ended up going into emergency double bi-pass surgery on Monday. So things have been kindda wacky around here. He's been sick for a few months, but docs kept thinking it was bronchitis. Not heart problems. So all they were doing for him was giving him inhalers and/or antibiotics.

We're gonna have to go and pick him and my sister-in-law up in Texas in about a month or so. They'll need help driving everything home, since they'll be home for several months now.

Diet's been basically put on hold for now.

Glad everyone is doing so well. I didn't know that celery was diuretic. I guess I'll have to eat it more often. Thanx for the info Maddy.

Have a good evening everyone--

Hi all

I took an unscheduled diet break. I was off plan for about 4 days while I dealt with some serious end of project/deadline work stress. I did not log any foods and my calorie counts must have been way high. I know I glugged some red wine and ate stacks of blue cheese and some high-end chocolate, but the rest is a blur. I am NOT getting on the scales again for a while. I wish I was better at dealing with these situations. I always seem to revert to overeating as a means of dealing with stress. Bah!

So, I'm back on plan today, and its such a relief to feel I'm back in control. The sun is shining, the pressure at work is not so high, and I have time to sit out in the sun for half an hour with my lunch.

Vickie, hope all goes well with your rellies and trip.

Best to you all

Well, today should be another killer work day...I think I may take off of the OT tonight or tomorrow....probably tomorrow since it is friday. 12-14 hrs in a day is just too much...my productivity goes way down, but tell that to the boss-man right??

So, I can totally relate KittyMac. Its been a real struggle not to reach for the crud foods that make me "feel" better while i'm stressed. Thats a fact. I was truly fighting off the chocolate / ice cream monster last night...finally, i just went out on the back patio with my dog and threw the ball for him....it distracted both of us!

Tori~I wondered too about the bloating...i think it is a combination of the two...to be honest. I know that when i did my refeed, i was SO bloated feeling and heavy feeling. I was seriously wondering how i got out of bed every day! ack. I also noticed that i did not drink my water like i usually do during my refeed. That probably contributed a great deal to the bloat feeling and extra weight gain i had.

Current numbers:
Round 1 PSMF Start 237 - Finish 217.2
Round 2 PSMF
7/22: 223.4
7/23: 220.8
7/24: 118.6

Have a great day everyone!!!

Morning all. I keep on taking mini diet breaks, but I keep coming back. My 18s are still comfy! I'm totally tricking my metabolism, I think I have it so mixed up now it doesn't know what to expect out of me. I guess I've been kind of carb cycling in a sense too, since I go very low carb by PSMFing for a few days, then up my carbs to normal for a few days. In my experience, when you have a lot of weight to lose like me, and your weight stalls for a few days or even weeks, I think its okay to take a break to trick your body to thinking its all over, eating at or right below maintenance for at least a week, keeping carb levels normal. Then jump right back in with the PSMF daily calorie allotment, and your body reacts by busting through the stall. At least that has worked for me! I finally realize I don't have to try to be perfect and think in terms of I will do this for the next 12 weeks, only cheating when I am allowed a free meal. If you think of it as 1 day at a time or even a few weeks at a time, it seems manageable and doable. Im shooting for the discipline to do this PSMF cycle for at least 21 days before breaking again next.

PSMF weight changes in '08
06/10 Started PSMF at 277 lbs
06/11: 274
06/12: 272.5
06/13: 269.5
06/14: 267 Free Meal

06/18: 264.5
06/19: 263
06/20: 263
06/21: 260 Free Meal
06/22: 260
06/23: 262.5
06/24: 262.5
06/25: 262.5
06/26: 262.5
06/27 - 07/07: diet break
07/10: 258.5

07/21: 260
07/22: 259
07/23: 258
07/24: 257

Also, I guess I am no longer on a true PSMF, as I have introduced a bit more fat calories to flavor my foods. I still keep up with my protein requirements, however. I also still take 2 ECA stacks and my vitamins daily. My job just started a Weight Watchers at work program, and while I don't plan to count points, I think the weekly weigh ins will be my used as my motivation to be our office's biggest loser LOL.

Have a good one ladies!

Hi again!

I had 3 great days with my son and dil. We only ate once at a restaurant in Evergreen (30 minute drive for me). It's a little winery with a balcony over a creek and they serve lunch foods - all Italian. And they have this cinamon brownie dessert that is to die for!! We split it 3 ways and it was amazing. I cooked all kinds of good stuff and ate it all.

I'm up a couple of lbs as of this morning. I tried to PSMF yesterday but didn't make it. I had some Grand Marnier and sweets last night after doing well during the day. I didn't get nearly enough sleep while they were here and it's hard for me to diet when I'm tired.

They are returning from visiting DS's dad in Louisiana on Monday. They leave on Tuesday with my DS16 in tow - back to Japan. Then we leave for Mexico on Wednesday. DS16 returns from Japan on the 5th. I'm a tad stressed about it all but looking forward to being at the beach - it's been a while.

I'm gonna try to do PSMF until I leave on the 30th. At least I hope to maintain or drop a few lbs. I'm 153.6 today and wanted to be 145 by my vacation but it's not gonna happen. But my clothes all fit so that's good. I'm not gonna worry about it all while on vacation and just enjoy myself.

I'm planning on getting back to PSMF on August 10th, after winding down from vacation.

Good luck everyone!

Hello, all!

I'm here in sunny - hot - Texas! Yesterday was a lllooooonnnnnggggg day. My flight was delayed about an hour and a half, so I was in the airport or airplane for a total of 6+ hours. Ack! All I had to eat was 4 little packs of airline peanuts. But, I really wasn't hungry, amazingly enough. DD made a nice dinner of porkchops with carrots and mashed potatoes. I only had a polite amount of the carrots and potatoes, and I was satisfied. This morning, I'm going to the grocery store to pick up MY foods. I'm sure we'll be eating out a couple times during my visit, but I pretty much know all the restaurants around here, so I won't be surprised.

This is actually the start of my diet break, but I hesitate to go too far off my PSMF woe, especially since I'm not at home and able to really control things.

And might I say that my DGD is just the cutest, smartest little 2-yr-old ever!

Vickie - sorry to hear about your family troubles.

Nill - thanks for the protein ideas! I'll be trying some soon.

Happy Friday everyone! Things are going good here. This is my last full week at work, my last day is next Thursday. I was able to work out an arrangement with my boss though and I will be working remotely from Denver from home. So now I won't have to worry about finding a new job while I go to school. It is going to be a blessing for sure!

Day 1 - 137
Day 2 - 135
Day 4 & 5 - 134

I am back to the lowest weight I was at last time around. I am still aiming for 130.

Nill - Your pudding and floats sound delish. I tried making some butterscotch pudding last night with water and soy milk, but it never did set up right.

Linda - Have fun in Texas! 2 is a cute age. I am going to visit a friend next month that has a 2 year old...apparently she is a big talker.

Vickie - Sorry to hear about your BIL.

Dharma - I'm glad you enjoyed your company. Do stress about not reaching 145...you'll have plenty of time to get there after your vacation. In the meantime just enjoy yourself and your family!

My weight was up this morning - .4 lbs. So I decided to go buy a nice sundress for my vacation yesterday, and I swear I tried on 12 dresses and NONE of them fit me right. I'm gonna try again tomorrow. I cannot wear the new styles with the high bodice cause I have a very long torso, and the seams just don't land where they're supposed to. If I go to a larger size the shoulders fall off me. So frustrating! I end up having to spend more and go to a higher end store to get something that fits.

Had my mani and pedi today so I've got my party toes on!! I really can't wait!

Hi everyone,
thanx for all the kind words. My bil is home from the hospital, but he's decided not to come home just yet since he has to go for heart therapy every day. Since we live in the middle of nowhere here, that would mean traveling 1-1/2 hours a day. So he's gonna stay where he is for now. And maybe come home in a month or so. When he reaches the point where he only has to go for therapy once a week...or less.

It seems that when it rains--it pours though. Cuz my husband's 'older' brother is also in the hospital. For some type of cancer, the name of which he can't pronounce. They released him over the weekend, so he could go and get a second opinion about radiation therapy so my husband got a chance to talk to him for awhile over the phone. He didn't sound good. He lasted a day before he was coughing up blood and back in the hospital. Don't know what they are going to do. But it doesn't sound good.

All of this has been a large wake-up call for my husband. He's now worrying about his own health, arteries, etc. Since he knows that if anything were to happen to him like what is going on with his brothers, with my own health issues, we'd be in a lot of trouble. Especially since there's no way I could hold down an 8 hour job, even if it was needful.

He has good reason to be worried. His mother had quaduple (4?) bypass surgery several years ago, but died soon thereafter anyway, his father had serious cholesterol problems plus a heart attack a few years back, his little brother with the bi-pass surgery now, and we get word that his older brother has cancer.

Not sure how we're going to pay for it, but we both are going to go and get ourselves checked out. I have LOTS of health issues that we've just been ignoring since we don't have health insurance. But they're just compounding on top of each other, so we're thinking it's time. Now I need to compile a list of all of my problems, so I don't leave anything out lol.

On a happier note, I finally took the written test and got my driver's license this afternoon. My husband came home early from work to take me. So I'm no longer house-bound. No longer confined to just driving the mile to work and back. It feels very weird. The irony being...there's no where to go LOL. Gosh--now I'll have to find myself a new avatar!!!

My husband is very happy that I'll be able to do the grocery shopping and other things like that for myself now. Not that he minded taking me, but he comes home from work very tired. And run down. Which is another reason why he's worried. Plus he's been having a bit of angina the last few days. Could just be the stress, but he really doesn't want to let things go anymore.

My weight is a bit over the top, so I'm attempting to reign it in. I'm doing okay with that. Especially since all of this has me a bit spooked anyways.

Have a nice evening all!

Hi, everyone!

I'm back home from my visit to HOT Texas. My DSIL says I have the same sun here up North, but I still say it's much brighter and glaring down there. Yikes! Anyway, I had a wonderful time with my DGD. She is definitely the cutest, smartest 2-yr-old ever, donchaknow. I'll be back there in September after my new DGD is born. Yay! Anyway, I really didn't watch what I was eating very closely, although I didn't go overboard. No desserts, and I did have salads for lunch 2 days. I bought some whey protein, but never openned it. It's back in the saddle today, so it'll be easier to control my food.

Vickie - Sorry for all your family troubles. But it is a good thing that you and your DH are going to get checked out. I just found out that a good friend of mine has esophageal (sp?) cancer. He's having surgery this week. He was having acid reflux for a while and his wife made him go to the doctor and that's what they found. This is especially worrisome since he's the entertainer I went to see a couple of weekends ago, and his work is singing. Anyway, you just never know, so it's best to have things checked out - sooner than later.

Okay, I have to get moving and get to work - Ugh. BBL

Hello, everyone. I'm trying to get back to normal eating here after my mini vacation. I went to the store after work yesterday and stocked up on a few things. Got some veggies for salads, and some eggs, chicken breasts, turkey bacon. I also bought a cantaloupe, as I want to have some nice fresh fruit for dessert for some of my meals while I'm on this diet break. I still need to stop at the farm stand and pick up some more fruit.

Hope you all have a great day!

Hi everybody.

Just popping in to see how you are doing. Maddy - 10lbs off already, fantastic! I wish I had done so well. I have been sticking to plan 90% of the time, calories mostly around 850 except two days when I went up to 1200 and 1400, so that was not too bad. I think I will weigh myself sometime in the next few days. My clothes are feeling a bit looser, but not much. Its such a shame, as we have some nice weather here at the moment, and all my decent summer togs are still too small to wear.

Chad - not sure what you mean by
