Good Morning, all.

Today is the day! My appointment is at 11:30 - AND I AM SO HUNGRY, all of a sudden. I've been fine until now.

Vickie - I've made something similar in the slow-cooker, using soy sauce, garlic, and diet orange soda (or sometimes apple juice). Very tasty.

Marilyn and Mary - hang in there. Nill is right - sometimes you have to exam what you're eating, re-read the plan, try different things that might work for YOUR body. We'll all get there.

I'll check back in after my "procedure".

Morning All,

Good Luck with your test this morning Gibster! And thanx for the recipe. Soy and orange sounds delish!

Well, the vertigo set in last night, so I just went to bed early to sleep it off. Only it didn't go away, so I get to battle with that today. I do have some Meclizine, but according to my pharmacist, they don't make it (or at least he can't get it) with the antihistamine attached anymore, so what I have isn't any better than the over-the-counter junk anymore. Great for "real" motion sickness, but essentially useless for vertigo. It's exactly the same stuff I was able to get in California, that didn't do much for me. Only a little. Helps me sleep though lol.

Hoping the vertigo will go away when Ketosis comes to visit. But I don't know, since it's acting like it's degenerating to the other side now. It kindda works in reverse. You tend to fall to the right when it's the left ear giving you trouble, and now I'm beginning to fall to the left. Quite a few people suffer bi-lateral disfunction within the first 5 years, and I'm right around that mark now.

Since I was soooo carbed up, and back to my 29.3% body fat, (where I was when I began "this" round), I'm expecting Ketosis to take most of the week this time. Just in time for family to arrive.

The "Scale Mindset" is truly HARD to break free from. Isn't it. And water balance issues can be the pits. Soooo depressing and aggravating!

I'm at the point now though where I'm using my clothes to judge my progress more than the scale, even though I'm still weighing everyday and keeping tract of what my weight is doing. This first week doing this tends to be easy, as far as weight loss goes. We deplete glycogen and the water that's attached to it fairly quickly. But when it comes time to get around to some serious fat burning, it's harder and slower.

All I can add is don't give up, if you can help it. And coming from me, yeah, I know that sounds hypocritical. I've been giving up and starting over A LOT lately. So I guess this is more a pep talk for myself, since I'm feeling so "bad" again.

The rebound back to the beg of where I was when I started this round 3 weeks ago really hasn't been worth it. But gosh, I don't know if I can really withstand 12 weeks of feeling like this.

Day 1: 180.4
Day 2: 177
Day 3: 175.8, 29.3% bf

I'm struggling these days too. I've stayed on plan, but mentally I'm tired of this. Tired of chicken!! I think between the free meal Saturday and the fact that it's the 2nd half of my cycle I am in a very slow loss mode, and that's discouraging. I was down a lb this morning to 150.6, but I only have 10 days left and want to lose 5 more lbs by then. It's disheartening to realize I may not make it. And I still feel fat! My smaller clothes fit now, but I just don't feel as comfy as I'd like. Things are really jiggly lately too. Okay - whine over.

I must just focus on my trip in Aug, and my DS and DIL visiting in 10 days. I have a lot of work to do to get ready for all that. And, trying to get work caught up before I'm off. It's getting interesting! Maybe stress is a factor here too. I'll be okay though.

Hang in there everyone.

All went well. Quick and almost painless. And the good thing is, I don't have to have another one for 10 years!

Dharma - I know what you mean. I have 2 more weeks of PSMF and I'm longing for a change. I'm going to actually plan out my break as much as possible. That will give me something to look forward to and will also help to keep me on the straight and narrow, instead of going wild.

Good Morning, ladies.

Waaaaaa......I hop on the scale this morning, and I'm up 3 lbs.!! I'm guessing it's the fantastic drugs they gave me at the hospital, because I drank alot of water, but didn't make alot of trips to the bathroom. I'm hoping I make plenty of trips today!

Poor Gib!!!
Our poor group is sure having a hard time this week aren't we?? We have all had some ups and downs this last week or so! I'm sure you are right about the drugs for your procedure though...glad it went well too.

On a food note...LOL...I couldnt decide whether to have my swordfish steak or some shrimp....so i had both last night... I marinated them in the soy/syrup combo, along with some sesame seed, sesame oil, fresh garlic and fresh ginger. WOW...I was making yummy sounds through the whole meal...LOL. I also bought a bag of broccoli slaw, and made a ginger dressing for it from my protein power book...it was fab. really light, and just covered everything. I tossed in 1/4c pepitas...yum!

I can post the recipe for the slaw dressing...if anyone is interested, later this evening, after work.

I'm thinking of doing a FM saturday morning...I have a terrible craving for Pancakes! It is only getting worse now that i got the SF maple syrup too...I can use my carbquick for the pancakes...so they don't do too much 'damage'...lol

have a great day everybody...and hang in there!!

Hello everyone.....thanks for the encouragement....According to today's stats I've gained another pound, BUT I'm really not that disappointed, because after some encouragement from my darling husband this morning, I tried on a pair of size 22 Tommy Hilfiger jeans (that I've not worn in 2 yrs) and to my amazement was able to fit them with ease.....These are jeans that I could not zip up at ALL and I mean no matter how hard I use to suck in my stomach I could not pull the clasp together to even try to button them up first and then zip, even the old faithful of laying across the bed did not work - LOL.......So after successfully being able to put on my jeans this morning after a 2 year absence, I was still doubtful of my accomplishments and I thought to myself, "What if this is a fluke?"........So I went on and tried on several different other items in my closet that I've not worn in 1-3 years, and was able to fit so many other clothes - YEAH!!!!!!!!!.......So the moral of today's story is that I should not just rely on the scale (as so many of you have been telling me - LOL) because I am really losing a lot of inches more than than weight at this time.....I guess all of that dedication of at least 30 minutes of cardio, strength training and ab workout each day is really starting to pay off......I am happy today and I know that I can't stop what I'm doing just because I am at an yo-yo point.....The scale will move downward eventually, because I know that I am sticking to a firm guidelines with my food plans and because of the type of exercises that I do daily, I am burning off more than I am eating.....Well enough of my babbling.....Once again thank you all, and I wish you all much success in reaching your goals.

Congratulations Sails for fitting into the jeans. I haven't even tried to do that yet cuz the jeans I am wearing now still fit pretty much the same as when I started. So haven't lost anything except some water weight and now that is back.

I need to read the book again cuz if its suppose to be RAPID FAT LOSS then I want to see rapid fat loss now right now.

There is nothing like fitting into clothes that were too small a while ago, for boosting your confidence Well done Sails. I'm hoping to do some of that myself soon. I have not weighed myself yet. In fact, I did not weigh myself before I started PSMF, probably because I did not want to see the figure. Now I am wishing I had, so that when I do get on the scales, I will know how much I lost. I don't weigh very often because I am a recovering scale-aholic. My jeans DO feel a bit looser though. I trust how my clothes fit more than the scale these days.

Good Morning Ladies,

Glad everything went well Gibster!

I really like the idea of adding minced ginger to the soy/syrup marinade, so I'll do that next time. Yesterday I added the sesame seeds, and marinaded the pork loin steaks for most of the day before bbq-ing them, and they were absolutely yummie! I served them with a large helping of steamed mixed veggies (yellow summer squash, carrots, and broccoli), plus 1/2 cup unsweetened, organic applesauce that I added a bit of splenda to.

Overall, my calories were a bit high yesterday, (I put my ground beef taco meat and an ounce of low-fat cheese in a La Tortilla tomato-basil tortilla for lunch) but I'm down another 1/2 pound of glycogen/water, so I'm happy about that -- as my jeans are begging to fit "comfortably" again with all of that water gone.

Good goin' Sails. Reminds me of a story I read on Jimmy Moore's "old" forum before it got trashed. There was a girl over there who talked about how her body didn't lose any weight for the last 20 pounds, or so, even though she did go down through all of the sizes. Then at the last minute, after she was at the size she wanted to be, she dropped all of the weight almost overnight.

Our bodies have great memories. If we come to the diet table from a history of several dieting attempts, the body remembers that. It doesn't like it's fat stores to be empty, and it particularly doesn't like to shrink them. Because the name of the game is survival. So it fills our empty fat cells with water, and holds that water in there (which means we won't go down in size or weight) until it's certain that we are not going to need those fat cells in the future. Until its sure that we are not going to quit our diet.

So sometimes...it's a waiting game. I've even read of those who do the whole psmf diet round, and don't know what their progress is, until they go onto the maintenance segment. Because that's when the real outcome shows up the best. So the question is...Who's gonna win? Us, or the physical body?

Day 1: 180.4
Day 2: 177
Day 3: 175.8, 29.3% bf
Day 4: 175.2

Good morning ladies! I am down a pound since starting my new plan. I haven't stuck to it to a "t", but I haven't had any junk. Today is supposed to be a low carb day which would be 2 meals out of 5 have carbs. I have a hard time eating 5 meals sometimes, so I am going to try just having carbs for breakfast and none at lunch or dinner. If I have a snack this afternoon it will be carb free as well.

Linda - I'm glad all went well. I am sure you will drop the 3 lbs once your body flushes out the meds!

Marilyn - Congrats on fitting into your pants!! That is an awesome feeling...I am looking forward to fitting into my jeans before my vacation to Washington state next month. Are you taking your measurements? The scale really isn't the best way to measure our progress!

Nill - Your dinner sounds delish!

Dharma - Hang in there! Try adding in a new meat...chicken does get old!! Congrats on fitting into your smaller clothes!

Marilyn that's awesome on fitting into the jeans! PSMF is specifically designed to lose bodyFAT and maintain LBM so it sounds like it's working for you the way it should. You'll see a drop on the scale soon.

WOW I'd love to have a 20 lb whoosh!! lol...That's a great story. 2 or 3 lbs right now would be perfect actually! I'm gonna win this for sure this time Lioness.

I tried on a sundress that I bought last summer, size 8, cause I wanna wear it in Mexico. It fit!! That was very exciting. I ordered another swimsuit today too, which I totally did NOT need. Still can't believe I did that! But, hey, it's more motivation.

Gibster congrats on the test being over with - you'll see a whoosh I'm sure.

Tori - I'm having sirloin tonight and even though it's more fat I think it'll really help with the boredom!

I had an unplanned "free" meal last night. After my PSMF dinner I ended up having 2 oz of vodka and 1/2 a bagel. I was still down .2 this morning in spite of that. I can't wait for this cycle to be over though cause a lot of my bloating and cravings right now are definitely hormonal!! Once I'm past the next TOM I think I'll see a difference in my shape.

This really does work everyone - keep at it!!

Hey everyone! I missed you ladies, and am glad to see you all are still big losers! Welcome to those new to PSMFing. I am here to tell you, I love it, it is great. I have been gone for about 2 weeks now, and took about a 2 week diet break LOL. I didn't overdo it, but I didn't deny myself of anything either. My ex and I decided to work things out and we have been together ever since, and I have been cooking different things for him, healthy and not so healthy, carby and not so carby. He loves me at the weight I am, (he's probably scared if I lose too much weight I would be too cute and leave him LOL). Well anyway, I re-started on Monday. I hadn't weighed myself since 06/26 because I was too scared of what the scale might tell me. Before this diet break, I had been fitting into a size 18. During the diet break, I figured I shouldn't have gained too much because my 18's were still comfy. So I finally weighed myself this morning (had to give myself a couple of days to drop any water weight), and I'm at 258.5. I'm ecstatic. Have a great day everyone! Glad to be back!

Hi KittyMac

I need to stop weighing every day because it only depresses me, and I need to join your support group for scale-aholics

Hi t0r1

Thanks for the encouragement.....I am taking measurements at the gym, but will not know those officially until next month....If I was not so addicted to this scale, I would just throw it out in the trash - LOL......But you are right, the tape don't lie and neither does those jeans that I put on after 2 years, because I definitely could not even lay on the bed and fasten the button - LOL....Wish you many blessings, in reaching your goals.

Hi Hazelia

CONGRATULATIONS on your weightloss....Now that's great that you can lose after a two week layoff.....EXCELLENT!!!.....Did you find yourself more aware of what you were cooking for your boyfriend?.....My husband is very supportive, but do not eat the same foods as I do, but when I do prepare meals for him, I find myself selecting more healthier alternatives......One time I made some tacos and he chowed them down and never suspected that I actually used tofu - LOL.......I like your picture.....Wish you continued success in reaching your goals.

Marilyn, thanks for your kind words and encouragement. It definitely can be hard for me to cook for the both of us, especially when I am PSMFing. I am definitely more aware of what I cook, in fact I have cooked some low carb things for my boyfriend and he loved them! For instance I made a snack of low fat cheese sticks coated in crushed pork skins, dipped in a touch of marinara sauce. Last night, I made him some pork chops with a breading made of crushed pork skins. I however, didn't eat any because I am trying to stick to PSMF as much and often as possible, though I will dabble in a bit of fat every here and there LOL. Your picture is lovely, you are a very gorgeous woman. We pretty much share the same goals...my primary goal would be to get to 199 by March 2009, and eventually to around 150. I too wish you continued success!

Hi all, I've decided to try this. I've been on a diet break for the last couple of months out of frustration because I've been stalled out between 225-220 for close to a year. I can definitely attest to the fact that if you eat moderately on regular carb that you won't necessarily gain all the weight back. I've been eating all kinds of stuff for the last couple of months and just fluctuated around 5lbs.

I started yesterday. Yesterday and today it looks like I'm averaging about 980 cals and 150gP. I am also doing an EC stack. Makes me feel a little anxious, like I need to get stuff done, but not too bad. I crashed pretty good last night from it, best night's sleep I've had in quite a while.

7/9/08 - 225
7/10/08 - 220 (I'm sure it's just water weight)

Good evening PSMF-ers!
wow...blink my eyes and everyone takes a turn for the UP-swing...this is great stuff!

I'm so glad that everyone is feeling better and seeing their progress. I too am feeling good about what is going on with me as well. I will say, I dont have a ton of energy all of the time...my days are up and down with that. But, I WILL say that i am very happy with the body changes...clothes fitting looser, etc. It's nice to be able to "add" to your wardrobe by moving further down in your closet...lol. So, WTG you losers...lol

I am a scale fiend. I know that it can be a curse...but for me, it also helps keep me in check, in a way...but that is me. I do struggle with it also...some days i love it, most i hate it. blah.

WB hazelia, glad things are going well.

Welcome Manaloa~good luck to you! Nice kick-start you have going there!

Hey Vickie~ I was telling my girlfriend last night about the soy/syrup marinade, and mentioned that i thought it would be really great with pork as well...you proved that one out for me! The ginger is really great in it. I'm sure you'll like it. I also add a touch of toasted sesame oil, because i love it....just a tad, 1/2 - 1 tsp at most. yummy stuff. You are so right that our bodies have memories....my brain should work so well!

I sometimes wonder if there can be a winner/loser (us or the physical body...), and think that maybe we learn to cooperate, and make more of a compromise...both of us...thats what i'm hoping to do anyway...i'm willing to work at treating my body better and taking better care of myself, all i want in return is for it to return the favor. We are still in negotiations
